I absolutely adore Sodwana Bay National Park. I'm a scuba diver and have been to many places to dive, and still Sodwana stands out. Some of the dives were even better than the ones I did in the Red Sea.
The sea life is mind-blowing, brimming with intense color and variety. The amphitheater at 5 mile was just.. wow..
Visibility is usually very good, and the temperature of the water is quite warm. And the waves are not that like those vomiting inducing ones at Unkomaas! :)
The beauty of the beach is another gem of Sodwana, where you can take a long walk and lose yourself in your thoughts. There are beautiful photo opportunities everywhere.
The town itself is very small and provides the basic requirements at a small shop. But there are sufficient restaurants to make sure you don't sleep hungry. Do take note that the town and the majority of accommodation are not within walking distance of the beach. Also, you need a daily permit (that you can buy at the gate) to enter the Sodwana National Park where all activities take place. It is worthwhile to get a Rhinocard - saves a lot of money!
