Sofía Mediterráneo

My boyfriend and I had such an incredible experience at the Sofia Mediterráneo. The staff was extremely friendly and well knowledgeable of the food and drinks. It was our first time to Costa Rica together and we found this hidden gem. I highly recommend that you try it. The atmosphere was romantic and like you stepped into another world. I had the lamb that was slow roasted and the meat was literally falling off the bones. My boyfriend had a mixed plate and liked the flavor of the lemon or citrus used in the meatballs. We will definitely come back!

My first visit and it was spectacular! I look forward to my next visit. The food is just delicious and the service is amazing. The appetizer had each tapas a different flavor. I had the Lamb & Asperagus as my main meal , it was so tender it melted in my mouth. I would suggest this as a must if your looking for a very good restaurant.

We found the beautiful restaurant Sofia by accident while we were searching for another restaurant called La Yerbatera (a "hidden restaurant" with no obvious entrance, that deliberately conceals its location and address). Sofia, on the other hand, wants to be found, and the staff were very polite, and the service was excellent and efficient, with excellent English proficiency. The dishes were plated beautifully, and the food was flavorful, balanced, and authentic. Many thanks!!

I loved this restaurant! We were took there by a regular couple and had the chef visiting our table a few times. A very fine professional for a very unique place in San Jose. Wonderful seafood pasta (special) and white wine. Loved the beetroot hummus and the baklava dessert. The Arabic coffee was also on point. Couldn’t recommend more

Best vanilla ice cream in Costa Rica! It tastes doughy and delicious. Salmon, cured in house, was fantastic. A large portion of Greek olives. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Service is a bit slow so come to relax a bit.

I've been to Istanbul several times and if I didn't know any better I'd have thought I was there. The menu is broadly Mediterranean, but we stuck to the Turkish section and had a very memorable meal!

Great food, great service, cozy atmosphere. The middle eastern rice was to die for. Also loved the shrimp with mushroom and mozzarella appetizer.

Excellent dining experience with Mediterranean flair. They specialize in lamb dishes, but don’t be surprised- the swordfish kebab is absolutely incredible. The sangria is a lovely blend, and they did a good mojito for my partner. We started with hummus, goat cheese, and the seared tuna salad. For dinner, I got the eggplant wrapped lamb shoulder, and partner got the lamb burgers and swordfish. All in all, everything was fresh and delicious. Our server was very accommodating as well - I’m mildly dangerous with Spanish and he took good care to ensure we had everything we needed. Great little spot in Escalante!
