Hands down, this was perhaps one of my best (if not the best) stays at a hotel ever. I am usually quite particular when it comes to hotel stays, but my stay here has been absolutely flawless and there was really nothing to fault.
I learnt that this resort has been around for at least the past 20 years, but it was extremely well maintained and the resort grounds were beautiful (and massive!). Safe to say this will be my go-to accommodation the next time I am back in Siem Reap.
We received an upgrade and stayed in one of their Suites. The room is huge (it had a walk in wardrobe & a separate living area), and it was extremely clean and comfortable to stay in. Bonus points to the few cats that frequently visited our terrace.
Location wise, the resort is strategically located in between the city centre and Angkor Wat, accessible by a short tuk-tuk ride. We also utilised the hotel’s on-call tuk-tuk service, costs USD 1 to get into the city centre.
We had breakfast buffet, lunch buffet and dinner a-la-carte at the restaurant (I think it’s called the Citadel?). The buffet spread was very wide and the food was delicious, and service was extremely prompt.
That being said, the stars of the show were definitely the hotel staff. Exceptional service, right from the moment we stepped into the hotel, till the moment we left. Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, helpful and always smiling.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay and look forward to my next stay at Sofitel Siem Reap.
