The 34 Best Hotels in Barcelona

"French luxury brand Sofitel brings its joie de vivre to the Barcelona beachfront—at a more affordable price point than many of its neighbors. If you imagined the Mediterranean mecca of Barcelona to be brimming with luxury beachfront hotels, think again. At present, there are only three, if you want to stay within easy striking distance of the city center. Next door to the ultra-luxe Hotel Arts, in Barcelona’s Port Olímpic (Olympic Port) district, Sofitel Barcelona Skipper strikes the perfect balance between luxury and affordability. Slightly less flashy than Hotel Arts or W Barcelona—but considerably more accessible—this is the ideal stay for families and couples who want a comfortable base close to the beach without breaking the bank. The rooftop terrace is the hotel’s crowning glory—or pièce de resistance, if you will—with its panoramic Mediterranean views, plentiful sunbeds, and refreshing swimming pool." - Gemma Askham, Isabelle Kliger

From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. All the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to a garden and partial sea view room, which was a lovely touch. The room itself was beautiful, elegant, spotless, and very comfortable. The facilities throughout the property were excellent, especially the pools, which were clean and relaxing. The rooftop offered stunning views and was a great spot to unwind. Overall, a very pleasant and memorable stay. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing and well managed place to stay!

The location of the hotel is great! The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are nice. This was the second 5 star hotel of our trip and we were coming from Almanac Barcelona. I must say that the attention to detail and the hospitality of the Sofitel was good but not on par with that of the Almanac which truly earned 5 stars. The price difference is substantial so I am completely surprised. I am not complaining - Sofitel Skipper checked all the boxes - and I would recommend and stay again!

From the moment we arrived we knew we booked an incredible hotel. The front of house staff were all utterly delightful - helpful, no waiting, always with a smile, and nothing was ever a problem. They arranged treat to our room in recognition of my son's birthday (this was a special trip for that reason and it was so kind of them to acknowledge it - he was so excited!). The breakfast was exceptional - stunning fresh egg station, beautiful fruits, cheese, breads, gluten-free options, meats, delicious health juices, I could go on and on. And they didn't rush you - we loved our leisurely breakfasts. And the two pool areas were wonderful and very big by city standards. We loved the ground floor pool, though the 7th floor pool with a view (and a great restaurant) was definitely a special place to be. The bedrooms were spacious, the cleaning throughout, the gym well equipped, and they even let us stay all day and use the facilities until we needed to leave for our flight, despite checking out in the morning. All in all a 5* hotel and a 5* experience. Right on the beach and promenade. Walking distance from many wonderful sites. Don't hesitate - both this gorgeous hotel! You'll be happy you did.

I stayed at the Sofitel Barcelona Skipper and the experience was excellent in every way. The hotel is modern, elegant, and perfectly maintained down to the smallest detail. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and equipped with every comfort. The in-house restaurant is of a very high standard, with well-prepared dishes and consistently attentive and courteous service. I also really appreciated the gym: bright, fully equipped, and fitted exclusively with the latest Technogym machines—perfect for keeping up with your fitness routine while traveling. Lastly, relaxing by the pool was a true pleasure. The sunbathing area is well-organized and offers a calm and pleasant atmosphere, ideal for unwinding after a day in the city. A flawless stay. I will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful stay at the Sofitel Barcelona. The hotel is stunning, the room was beautiful and spotlessly clean. On top of that, every staff member was incredibly kind and attentive, which made our stay truly unforgettable. We’ll be happy to return. Mathieu gave us a very warm welcome. We had dinner at Tendiez, where the food was delicious. Our thanks to Joan and Lucie for their friendliness and professionalism. The breakfast buffet was a real treat, with tasty local products, and Adil and Hanen were especially attentive to us. The place to stay !

My husband and I stayed at Sofitel for a week. The service was amazing - from the front doormen to the front desk and concierge we were met with people who were kind, helpful, and thoughtful. The amenities and rooms were luxurious, modern, and very clean. The house keeping and room service staff were efficient and added special touches throughout our stay. The roof top pool was awesome and the food and drinks up there were delicious. We explored most of Barcelona and also traveled to Monserrat. The hotels location is very central to the major attractions either by walking or train. The area is very walkable - we had no issues and if it was too far to walk the train was easy to navigate. The front doormen also helped hail taxis when we went for dinner or drinks in the evening. Overall the hotel and staff were amazing and we highly recommend staying at Sofitel for short or long stays. We will stay here again when return to Barcelona!

Google
An absolutely fantastic hotel in Barcelona. Sofitel meets its 5-star claim here and provides everything necessary for a luxurious holiday. Everything was perfect, from the check-in process to the breakfast buffet and the service by the pool and on the rooftop terrace. The rooms are very clean, and the maids do an excellent job. It was exactly the right hotel to relax in the evening and regain energy after my tiring business days. Thank you very much!

It was amazing, thank you. We will definitely be back. Brandon at the desk was very helpful when checking in, even offering to help us book tickets for sightseeing. I thought, that was nice, as this wasn’t part of his job. Everyone was so nice, making our stay more enjoyable. The hotel is clean and very well maintained. The beach is just round the corner, which was great for evening strolls. Thank you Sofitel for making our stay in Barcelona extra special.

Yelp
I've stayed at Barcelona Sofitel Skipper Hotel a couple of times, and overall, it offers good value for the money. As a loyalty program member, I've been upgraded on both stays, which has definitely enhanced my experience. The suites are comfortable, and you genuinely get a "home away from home" feel when staying here. The valet attendants are professional and always willing to help, making arrivals and departures seamless. The restaurant downstairs is okay, but it would benefit from a more diverse menu. Similarly, breakfast options could use some improvement to offer more variety. During one of my stays, housekeeping was a challenge, particularly with the lack of turndown service. However, this issue was addressed on my subsequent visit, which shows their willingness to improve. Overall, the hotel is decent, maybe slightly above average, with no major complaints that would keep me from returning. It's a solid option, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Yelp
I was there for both a business conference and some sightseeing. It was a great hotel for both. When I first arrived, Sonia at the front desk was very helpful. She saved me a lot of time and money with her sightseeing recommendations. She also explained how to use the local public transportation which is great by the way. It's just a couple blocks to the subway that will take you almost anywhere you'll need to go. I never used a cab once the whole time I was there. It's just a block from the beach by the way. The breakfast is off the charts fantastic!! I was in heaven. It was included with my room. If you stay there, be sure and have breakfast included with your room because it's worth it. Everything is fresh and local. Best hotel buffet breakfast I've ever had. The service in the restaurant is also great. See my pics. They'll make you hungry!! The room was clean and roomy. There was a safe to store valuables. The only negative remark I can make is that the WiFi is not very good. Easy to log on, but much easier to get bumped off. It's really annoying. I noticed my laptop stayed connected to Wifi much better than my iPhone 6s. I needed to use the business center to print something off my flash drive. The computer worked perfectly and the print quality was just fine. The meeting room we were in was also great. It was well lit and the seating was comfy. Very pleasant place to have a meeting. The snacks and refreshments for break periods where quite nice. All the staff I encountered there was extremely helpful and well trained. They had customer service in mind. I wholeheartedly recommend the Pullman Barcelona Skipper for business travel...pleasure travel too! Definitely don't miss breakfast there!!!

Yelp
I guess the 1-2 star ratings by some guests here and on TripAdvisor was accurate. To call this a 5 star hotel is a stretch. We frequent 4-5 star hotels often, and despite some of the negative reviews decided to give this place a try. The rooms are spacious, it has a great location near the beach and it isn't exorbitantly expensive, but that's probably where the pros end. We just checked in today, and noticed right before going to bed that there's hair in the bathtub, which is unacceptable even for say a 3 star hotel. When we called to let the front desk know, it seemed like they didn't understand our concern (maybe language barrier?). If one of the amenities is having a nice bathtub in the room, you would think you would be able to use it without having other guests' hair in it, and at the very least, seem concerned when an issue has been brought to the staff's attention.

Yelp
Gorgeous and welcoming lobby, leads to a chic bar and excellent restaurant. Do try their lunch set menu during the week and you'll be amazed at the quality of the food for the price. It does get packed when there's a conference at the hotel, but on other days it's an excellent place to have a lunch meeting or just be productive in the lobby.

Yelp
As someone who stays in exclusively four and five star hotels, I cannot give this hotel a good review. It is extremely overpriced; I would say $99-$150 usd per night would be the maximum value of this hotel. That's still valuing it high. The hotel is advertised as being on the beach, which it is not. When I inquired, I was told, "oh, we are just a 3 min walk from the beach". Yesterday I walked to the beach and it was at least 15 mins on a very unsafe road. Also I requested a late check out, and instead of accommodating me, (I was given one hour only) I was given a speach about the hotel's policy and they would have to charge me if I stayed any later -- and the hotel is not at capacity, it is the middle of the week, and I already paid a really high rate. There is literally nothing special about this hotel. Just totally average, and a bad location. There are much better options in the same price range (like the W which would have no problem accommodating late checkouts).

Yelp
This is not a 5 star hotel. In fact, 4 would be a stretch. The rooms are small, the air conditioning doesn't work well and even the blinds need hep keeping out the sun. The pool is great, worth a visit but don't stay here!

Yelp
At this moment I'm writing this review on the rooftop of this hotel. Pullman Barcelona Skipper is fantastic! Honestly, the expectations were high, because it is not the first time that I stay in a Pullman Hotel. This one is located nearby the beach and the clubs. The staff is friendly and helpful and they take all the requests and complaints very serious. And we had free water everyday and got luxury chocolates in our room! Our room was spacious and had enough closets. No more discussions with the man about sharing the space:-)! Sometimes it was a bit noisy, because the hospital is nearby. But hey, this is Barceloneta ;-). The rooftop is the best part of this hotel. Free towels for guests, terrace and chairs. You can eat and drink while seeing the beach and sea! And burn those calories in the swimming pool or the bicycles. Or the gym in the basement There is another swimming pool on the ground floor. This one is more quiet en more suitable for kids. Pullman Hotels are always my favorites and this one is the best experience in Barcelona!

Yelp
I've been to many 4 or 5 star hotels in Asia, South America, Europe and North America... but i can honestly say that the customer service at this hotel was one of the BEST I have ever received. We all know we pay a little more for the nice amenities when booking a nice hotel and never really get to test how a hotel will be when you have extenuating circumstances. Thus hotel has all the regular nice amenities that you would expect including free WIFI and is located in a nice location that almost every can driver in the city knew. But I will focus more on their amazing customer service. On this trip, the airline list my baggage and I was without most of my stuff for over 48 hours. What was a pleasant surprise was how nice the concierge was in helping me call the airline for updates, etc... 3 different front desk workers were on the phone at 3 different points in time, for over 30 minutes each time trying to get more information on the bags for me. They were extremely nice and went out of their way to call more than one number to make sure we covered all options before I eventually had to go to the airport to get some answers. But needless to say I was very impressed with the attitude in which I was serviced. I don't know if corporate reads this, but Jorge and especially Adrian were AMAZINGLY COURTEOUS and helpful. Thanks to the staff but especially those two, my stay at the Pullman was awesome. I hope I never have to experience lost baggage again but due to the experience I saw how well the Pullman services their customers. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this lovely hotel to anyone. Update: on my last hour of stay there, I had another issue with my hired car service (had nothing to do with the hotel). Alejandro was nice enough to call for me and get that taken care of for me, even calling back the travel agent in the US as well as the local service provider, even though the hotel itself had no association with them. Even to the end, this hotel provided EXCELLENT service to a customer that they may or may not ever see again. Needless to say I'm impressed and if all of their hotels have this level of customer care, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them to all of my circle of family and friends.

Yelp
Was greeted by super friendly and helpful reception who informed us of nearby attractions and what we shouldn't miss while in town. Rooms were good in size and beds were comfortable. Hotel is located right on the beach and near the gothic quarters which was beautiful. We went in May, which is right before the summer rush where locals calls it the second "Miami". So if you have a family and want to stay somewhere more family friendly during the summer months I would suggest staying somewhere else. Pros: nice, helpful staff, Breakfast spread, location, close to transport, comfortable Cons: replace carpet in the halls and rooms because they were stained and looked filthy.

Yelp
Just had a fantastic three night stay here. First time visiting Barcelona and we couldn't have picked a better place to explore from. Located so close to the beach with a variety of restaurants to dine both at night and for a light lunch. A short walk to the train/metro which was perfect for exploring more parts of the city! The breakfast was perfecto! So much to choose from- we spent about an hour each AM starting our day here they have every food you can imagine. Two pools- rooftop one was fantastic- they lend you towels no additional charge just ask at check in. The hotel staff was so polite and accommodating! Would absolutely stay here again!

Yelp
Stayed here for a week recently on holiday with my daughter, very clean, modern, well located. It was mostly positive, good points as below: Pros: - breakfast & staff, fantastic and something not to miss - very clean, housekeeping is outstanding here - front desk staff incredibly kind & helpful with recommendations on local area - rooftop pool has views that are unrivaled - incredibly comfy beds, robes Cons: - while the rooftop pool is fab, it constantly is closed early for "private function". This is annoying when you pay top $ to stay somewhere for such advertised amenities - the restaurant/bar in the evening while having good food, lacks severely in service. You would not know it is the same hotel that employs the breakfast or front desk people. All in all, lovely place. Would stay again. I love walkable cities, of which I'd say Barcelona is one, and was able to walk to many sites from here. Also only maybe two locks from the Line 4 metro stop.

Yelp
We booked the Pullman Skipper for our honeymoon stay in Barcelona. As it was advertised as a 5-star hotel, we wanted to pamper ourselves. To summarize our opinion of the hotel following our stay, it appears that the hotel caters almost exclusively to the business traveller and, in doing so, alienates the couples and/or families that may be staying there. The pros of the hotel are: - location- it is 5min walk from the beach and 15min walk from Gothic center. It is also a 5min walk to the metro station. - in-room amenities such as bathrobes, Jacuzzi and shower, turn-down service, large beds, etc. - Hotel amenities- There is a large gym, two pools, a bar and restaurant. - Staff- The staff was super friendly- from the maids to the check-in counter. The cons are: - Noise! We requested to have a sea-view but this was a detriment to us. The sliders for the balcony are paper-thin and you can hear everything. This includes, club-style music that they blast from both pools starting at 9am and not ending until 1am. There is also a popular outdoor nightclub across the street where the noise is heard in all rooms until 6am. - Private functions- As I mentioned before, they focus on business groups primarily. EVERY night that we were there, they closed off the pool areas by 5pm for private functions. We were unable to access any of these areas and again, the noise was unbearable when these events were going on. - Lack of communication- At times, it was nice as they would provide a note on our beds as to what the weather would be the next day. But one day we intended to go to La Sagrada Familia, and walked for 20mins looking for a taxi, but there were no taxis. We had to take the metro. We asked the front desk about this when we returned and it turns out there was a taxi strike that day. The hotel knew about it, but never informed the guests ahead of time. We thought this was a major oversight. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at the hotel but would not stay there again unless we were a business traveler and/or had a business function at the hotel.

Yelp
I went to the spa of this hotel with my friends. It was one of the worst experiences all together for all of us. The staff were rude and unhelpful. The rooms were incredibly cold and the masseuse did not seem to be trained to give massages, it was almost as if they've picked a random person from the staff to give a massage. She hurt my neck so much that she may have very well injured me. Definitely not worth the 100eur.

Yelp
The Pullman Skipper is an excellent hotel, but it's not a place you'll buy the Cartier watch you left at home... Great rooftop pool! Great location!! Great bar drinks!!! Business or pleasure, you find a level of subtle service that's luxury as a standard, with European flair that's not overwhelming you with "welcome back"! every time you walk in the door. An oasis to entertain yourself completely & totally for a week it's not, but that's the point, it serves as an excellent place to recharge your self after a day of sights, beach, & nightlife... If on summer vacation to Barcelona you envision eating a gelato fully clothed under an umbrella, this is not the place for you... If you envision relaxing under the sun, with a lush pool nearby to cool you off when needed, surrounded by beautiful bodies doing the same, then enjoy your stay. My only two issues with The Pullman, the Attic pool open at 9AM... and they really need to consider improving the selection & sound system of that pool... I'll def be back!

Yelp
What an absolutely beautiful hotel! Great location; very close to subway stations, walking distance to the beach, and relatively close to La Sagrada Familia. Impeccable service from the entire staff. I highly recommend paying for the delicious breakfast buffet if it isn't included in you rate. The room was a decent size, very clean, sleek furnishings, and had a great view. The bathroom was awesome! It has a shower and a large tub, it was so spacious, makes other hotel bathrooms pale in comparison. Loved this hotel and will be measuring all hotels I stay at to these standards!

Yelp
Very disappointed with this place. Came here on business and it was rated the best so we thought. However, our 300 People that stayed here would agree. The AC was not cold, the room service food was horrible AND they lost my luggage for 45 minutes. I would NOT recommend this hotel For the price. It is on the beach but you can find better. Oh yeah, AND Fabio at the bar is rude and clearly does not like Americans.

Brooke S.

Yelp
I loved my stay at the Pullman Barcelona Skipper! The rooms are very nice, the bathrooms are super clean and the bed was so comfy. I'm going to sound like an asshole here, but you never know what kind of bed you're going to get in Europe, and most of the time I'm disappointed by a hard mattress or two twin beds pushed together to make a queen. Not the case at the Pullman! Views of the city / beach are great and it was super convenient to get to, just off the Olimipic subway line. I'd definitely stay here again. My only complaint is that the bar scene was nonexistent and overpriced, but the entire staff was super nice.

Yelp
We had an incredible stay at the Pullman Skipper. Most incredibly helpful, kind, and generous staff. Rooms were large and beautiful. Incredible breakfast. AMAZING roof top pool with amazing views! Wonderful restaurant. Minutes from the beach. Minutes from the Metro. We never wanted to leave!
