Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge

"How did it strike you on arrival? With a prime location near the River Danube, Hungarian Parliament, Hungarian State Opera, and the Castle in downtown, this is a great option for its location and mid-level price point. Not to mention its luxury pool and spa. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Urban 30- and 40-somethings looking for convenient access when exploring Budapest—yet need the comforts and amenities of this Accor Hotel. (Without being stuffy.) How was check in?Accor Hotels prides itself on accessibility for urban travelers, especially for those in town on business. Expect speedy but warm service, and technical accents that aren't too over-the-top. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. The 357 rooms have spectacular views of the river and Chain Bridge. They're elegant without being too much: Clean, crisp, and cosseting bedding; complimentary colors that aren't too dramatic—all in a fairly modern steel-and-sharp-corners kind of structure. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?Marble bathrooms with luxury products! People rave about Sofitel's MyBed program, and free and well-working wi-fi. Room service and food: Worth it?Do not miss Terrasse Restaurant in the spectacular atrium for breakfast and lunch; the Budapest Bar for a break or to begin your night. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The spa and pool. So rare to have a modern downtown hotel with this kind of amenity. Bottom line: worth it, and why?Absolutely: For the price and unbeatable downtown location, it was so convenient." - Corina Quinn

5 star quality at 3 star cost It's very rare in Hungary to find friendly people, even rarer to find a whole group of people to be friendly. That is true at the "Sofitel" in Budapest. The staff is, however, just a slice of the big picture. From the time I checked in, from the time I left, I felt right at home, and very comfortable. It's the type of hotel that makes you feel like you're in a five-star establishment, but you did not pay that much. In general their rates are really reasonable, considering their location (which is right on the Danube in the heart of the city), considering their rooms (which are extremely nice, even the standard rooms), and considering their buffet breakfast (which if I were to pay on the street, it would run me somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 euro). The spa is really nice, with the opportunity to have massages and facials - there is also a very nice swimming pool, a fitness center and there is a sauna room which is well-put together as there are sun chairs to lay on, in case the actual inside of the sauna is too much to bare. The breakfast is one of the best of all hotel breakfasts I've ever had in Europe - second only to the "Pullman Hotel and Casino" in Mandelieu, on the French Riviera. The restaurant is very nice, the staff was more than friendly and courteous, and the food was excellent. I actually had three espressos in a row because they were that outstanding. The rooms were large enough to walk around, with a nice TV, beautiful, large beds with very comfortable comforters and pillows; The bathroom adequate and clean; But the view was probably the highlight. Fortunate to have a view of the chain bridge, it was that much more intoxicating at night than in the day - which was also beautiful to wake up to. If you do have the opportunity to stay at this hotel, my recommendation would be three-fold: Check out the spa, even if it's just to look; Don't skip the breakfast for any reason; and try to get a room with a view of the bridge. If it's a few extra dollars, it's definitely worth it.

An exceptional hotel in an even more exceptional location. We got a room with a river view on the top floor. The view was absolutely incredible. The space was fantastic and served all of our needs. The staff is incredibly attentive to the needs of their guests and will respond in a moments time. The breakfast is a true pleasure each morning. Although we had access to the private area on the top floor, we chose to eat on the club level as the food, staff, and service was impeccable.

This hotel is absolutely amazing in every way. Rooms are the only thing which is quite standard for a few* but in a bathroom you will find an aplliance which looks like a switch and it plays a few different types of music - this is fun. Breakfast is amazing, a pool and sauna very nice, staff is absolutely great and everything works as a charm. But what I found the most appealing was the architecture and interior design - breathtaking! The best hotel I have visited so far and I saw quite a number! Must see, must stay. I simply loved it.

My wife and I stayed in the Sofitel for 4 nights. Upon check in I was told that although I am a member of Club AccorHotels I wouldn't get my points because the room was booked through an agent. Seems strange since I'm the one that paid for the room. Although the hotel looks good from the outside and the lobby and restaurant, Paris Budapest, are clean and modern, the rooms leave a lot to be desired. The rooms are a good size but need a lot of updating. Carpets are old and worn and the room smelled of mothballs. Other than a small desk and chair there is no where to sit and relax if you don't want to lay on the bed. I had to ask twice to have the coffee replenished and there were no wine glasses in the room. On the positive side, the bed was very comfortable and the shower had lots of hot water with great pressure. The food in the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced for Budapest. Service was quick and the staff was very friendly and efficient. The breakfast was included and there were a lot of options however once seated you were lucky if a waiter came to your table more than once and if you ordered eggs of any sort you need a lot of time as it took over 10 minutes to get my omelette and my wife never did get hers. If you only do the buffet you won't go hungry but coffee is slow in coming and never an option of a refill that we saw. The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting Budapest and its many wonderful sights but there are other hotels just as close for a little less money. We were a little disappointed in the location of our room considering we were staying for four nights. It would have been nice to have a view of the river rather than the back road that we did have and if we return to Budapest and decide to stay at the Sofitel I'll be sure to book it myself so that I can take advantage of the points and the view. All in all not a bad stay but considering what we had for a one night stay at the Sheridan Hotel in Bratislava, Slovakia one week earlier I was not overly impressed. We have stayed in a number of Sofitel Hotels over the years in the US and in China and the Budapest Sofitel Chain Bridge needs to up its game.

Tremendous! I want to commend the hotel for the professional and caring attitude of all the staff that we had interaction with but particularly Kata in the Executive Lounge. She went far above the requirements to assist us and if we asked for something she exceeded our needs to give us the best she could provide. The view from the room was SPECTACULAR! The bed was huge, firm and comfortable. The shower water pressure was a bit weak but nothing the hotel controls. The room was spacious and well furnished. The only area for improvement was that the air conditioning was not available and the room was a bit on the warm side particularly for sleeping. I would recommend having air conditioning available even when the outside temperature is cool, because the sun beating on the windows can make the room quite warm and opening the window to cool it down lets in too much street noise to sleep. The executive lounge was very convenient and the food was good, the wine reasonable, I might recommend a small selection of Spirits and mixers that many other executive lounges provide. All things considered my wife and I had a wonderful stay in your beautiful city.

Our stay in a corner suite was everything I expected and more from Sofitel Chain Bridge. The hotel staff that I encountered throughout my stay were all professional, efficient and personable in all the transactions. The buffet breakfast room was excellent as well as the selection and quality of the available food selections. The suite itself was well designed with an extremely comfortable bed. For the most part it was well sound-proofed, which given its location was needed. My single criticism of the room was that some of the furniture was very dated and did not conform to the quality image of the suite itself. And lastly, I really liked the entire lobby atrium experience including the glass elevators. A great visual treat with an airplane hanging from the ceiling. What's there not to like about that?

I love the Sofitel chain and the one in Budapest didn't let me down. Warm welcome, smooth check in, great room, friendly and helpful staff etc etc. The room was spacious and clean (I do hate how the beds are too close to each other, considering I was travelling with my sister and not my husband). We had a beautiful view looking toward the Danube and the size of the room was perfect for two (with a nice big bathroom). The only two faults of the hotel were ... 1) Waaaaaay too much smoking outside of the lobby to the point it's intoxicating when you walk outside. 2) The buffet breakfast was NOT good and there wasn't the variety like other hotels have. Overall though, this hotel is in the perfect location (near the river and lots of restaurants and not far from the stores. It's also across the street from a Hop On and Off tour stop). The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is clean and inviting with lovely decor. I highly recommend staying here if in Budapest.
