Sofitel Frankfurt Opera (Frankfurt, Hesse) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The main focus of the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera is clearly stated in the name; it’s set not just in the Opera District, but right on the Opernplatz itself, just across the road from the newly rebuilt Alte Oper. But this is a fantastic location for business travelers as well — it’s also the central business district, with the historic city center a short walk in the other direction. Local color, then, is a given; this Sofitel, like all its siblings, emphasizes its Frenchness, both in style and in atmosphere." - Tablet Hotels

Annika was proactive in reaching out through message even before our arrival. Lara and the bell hopper were excellent in greeting us and explaining everything during our check in. We were surprised with the room upgrade upon arrival so we were very grateful for that!! The breakfast restaurant managers and waiters and waitresses all provided us great service as well. The hotel has a great location. The only downside to be honest was the total we paid at the parking lot during our 3-night stay hahahaha. Thanks so much!!

We stayed 4 nights in this hotel located in the downtown center of Frankfurt. FYI, because of some construction some Uber drivers seemed to have an issue with getting to the hotel. We were disappointed with Ubers in Frankfurt, they definitely had some issues not just with the hotel but with other rides. Taxis were also typically available outside of the hotel. The hotel staff was very nice and turn down service was provided. The public rooms are lovely, and the hotel is well maintained and the rooms nicely appointed. The room had a desk, chair, sofa at the end of the bed, a large bathroom with two sinks and lots of shelves, a separate shower stall with good water pressure and a separate toilet area. I would describe the room as retro modern with laminated curved doors to separate the bathroom and bedroom. There are no nightstands but an insert in the headboard with a plug and reading light. The towels were nice. Breakfast was a nice buffet with a few gluten free items and you could also order some hot items off of a menu. The staff was very nice. Definitely get something with the Frankfurt green sauce and the roasted potatoes. We enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this hotel.

Great hotel, and will stay there gain when in Frankfurt. Loved the room; great breakfast; staff was very friendly and helpful. Also, they have heated floors in the bathroom, which is very nice in the winter! This is a 5 star hotel, and you will enjoy both the location and atmosphere.

A brief return stay in one of the hotel's opera suites. The room still remains one of the better ones but sadly showed considerable wear and tear. Furniture scratched throughout, veneer peeling and TV cabinet wouldn't stay open. Some more maintenance and it could be back to its initial state in no time. The welcome amenity was nice and appropriate. The main problem however was the F&B offer at the hotel. Arriving on a Sunday meant that the restaurant was closed (odd for a 5* hotel) so the only place to get food was the bar. The limited menu was hardly inspiring. Service was chaotic. G&Ts served without lime or cucumber (Hendricks) and food coming out all at once (instead of the traditional starter, main course order). Food also arrived cold. When trying to redeem the ALL Diamond drinks vouchers for 2 drinks of the limited welcome drink menu, the staff suggested this was not possible: only beer and wine. It was clear that neither bar nor waiting staff had any idea what they are doing. It is also a shame that the bar lost some of its charm by being rammed with seats and tables and the fireplace not working any longer. Lastly, maybe the door staff could be trained to greet guests when they enter the hotel. All in all these may appear to be minor quibbles but at a 5* luxury hotel that commands significant rates more should be expected.

This is an outstanding hotel, truly 5 stars, probably should be 6 stars! The staff were fantastic, the location was the best possible, the room was tremendous with great facilities. The bathroom was great and extremely well laid out. Free minibar was also a plus. ||We dined at two restaurants which were in the hotel building but not owned by the hotel and they were both great. There is a steak restaurant and an Italian one called Alfio. Also five minutes walk is an another great restaurant called bidlabu which you must visit if you are in Frankfurt. ||This really is a sensational hotel.

I booked a prestige suite with breakfast long before the actual date. Upon arrival, there was only one bathrobe provided. The hotel has a peculiar lift system that requires assistance a couple of times before you understand how it works. Staff seemed preoccupied and only greeted us after we entered their field of view, even though the lift probably alerted them to incoming guests. The breakfast selection is typical of European hotels. The breakfast staff didn't know what congee is. Overall, it doesn't fit the category of a high-end luxury 5-star hotel.

From the minute my sister and I checked in until we checked out, the service was first class. We were surprised with a free upgrade from a junior suite to a prestige suite. The suite faced the park and was extremely large and comfortable. There was a separate bedroom and living room. There was a large bathroom (two separate sinks with lots of space for toiletries, separate shower, bathtub and toilet) and a second toilet by the entrance. There was plenty of space to work (two desks) and a very comfortable sofa and chairs. The beds were also really comfortable. Everything in the mini bar was complementary. Our room was cleaned twice day.||All staff at the Sofitel were incredibly helpful and professional. Anne from the concierge helped me book train tickets to Heidelberg. When she saw me later in the day, she made a point of coming over to me to ask how everything went. There was a very friendly man who brought our luggage to our room. He greeted us every morning when we were in the lobby and always asked how we were doing and if we needed anything. The staff at the restaurant were also incredible! The maître d' in the morning (we were there over a weekend) remembered where we liked to sit each morning and brought us everything we needed. The breakfast includes a buffet and you could order a la carte as well. We had room service a couple of times. The food arrived quickly and the people who brought the food were so nice. I also can't say enough about the people who cleaned the rooms. They came twice a day and were so thorough. The staff at the front desk were also helpful and professional.||The location was great! It was about a 15-20 minute walk to Romerberg, the Frankfurt Cathedral and Main river. It was a 2-5 minute walk to the opera house and Goethestrase (luxury boutiques). Train stations were also within a 5 minute walk. Tons of restaurants were also within a 5-10 minute walk.||I would definitely stay at the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera again. I wish I remembered everyone's names who were so helpful and made our stay special. Thank you so much!

We have been to over 10 hotels in Europe over the last couple of months. I would say this has been my favourite, with a few exceptions. I loved the style and class as you enter the foyer. Reception was perfect and the room was beautifully appointed. Tv had English stations and a great Bose radio. The bath was in the room with an ingenious way of closing it off if needed. |And then comes the exception. As always the breakfast. |We were happy to see it was a buffet and a menu offering. It wasn’t busy and we sat down with our juice and cereal. 45 minutes later we still didn’t have our cooked breakfast. The stressed and sweating maitre de apologised and said they were very busy. They weren’t. Eventually my pancakes came but they didn’t have syrup…. Really. I re ordered and it was very average. We complained and asked to have it removed from the bill. The other maitre de followed us out to the foyer to apologise. We said we hoped tomorrow would be better. It was better but not up the standard of the rest of the hotel. |However I did enjoy my stay here. The problems we had were reflected in the bill and I would come back here anytime.

Yelp
Last minute booking due to a change in schedule, I chose this hotel because it had good reviews overall and it is part of Sofitel group. We had a late arrival which was complicated slightly by the main entrance not being assessable due to road construction. Check in was good but the technology in the room was not explained so we had issues navigating some of the basic features of the room (such as the phone to call the from desk to say our tv was not working). The bathroom is small and there is nowhere to hang your housecoat when taking a shower. Water pressure was adequate, and there were two sinks, which is nice. There are a lot of closets but very little room to hang longer items as most of that space is taken up by the ironing board. We added breakfast to our room and it was buffet and a la carte so you can order eggs if you wish. Service staff was outstanding, every person we encountered was genuinely friendly and helpful. Location is very good, close to shopping and a good selection of restaurants and cafes. Rooms are expensive considering the size and amenities, but I would still there again.

Yelp
Excellent choice in the heart of Frankfurt. Not luxury, but it delivers with respect to comfort, service, food and location.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel with excellent service. The rooms were a decent size and the staff was accommodating. The breakfast is very nice with lovely Champaign and several made-to-order breakfast dishes. Room service was friendly, tasty, and timely. We will stay at Sofitels more often after this experience.

Yelp
Great place and definetely worth the price! Rooms and interior are modern, food and drinks were tasty and prices moderate. Special thanks to the friendly and more than polite people. Many hotels still offer concierge services but this one, i think his name was Latir, did a simply great job. He spoke fluent french which was easier to understand than english and knew everything about the shops and sights around. We asked for a museum tour and a good restaurant for fish in the evening. He gave us a perfect recommendation of several museums that fitted our interest, organized the tickets and made a perfect table reservation for a great restaurant. This is how i expect 5-Star service! Clear recommendation for this ! Sofitel for guests with high expectations!

Yelp
My husband and I booked one night at the Frankfurt Sofitel at the end of a river cruise. I had stayed at Sofitel properties before, so trusted the quality, plus it looked well-located on the map. I was not prepared to be floored, which I was. Wow! The Sofitel Opera Frankfurt is a modern, elegant, and somewhat glamorous hotel. It was a great value for its service, comfort, and location. The lobby was spacious with lots of comfortable seating. The reception staff were friendly and helpful (and spoke English). We checked in around 11 a.m. and our room was ready early, which was a nice surprise. The receptionist showed us how to operate the elevator (you have to use your room card and then indicate your floor on a touch screen--use your fingernail, not the pad of your finger on the screen and it works better!). We got to our room and I thought I had accidentally booked the Presidential suite. The room was huge! It had a beautiful view of the park, lots of space, and a huge bathroom (double sinks, separate WC, enormous shower). I could get lost in this room. I pay almost as much to stay at a run-down motel on the California coast. The amenities were top-notch and everything about the room was elegant. We went back downstairs after dropping our bags in our room to ask the concierge a few questions about travel time to the train station (we were departing via train the next day). He was incredibly friendly and helpful, even printing a page from a website with the platform number where our train would be. When I asked him for a city map and to mark the best route to the old town, he did one better...he walked us out the door, down the drive, to the street, and pointed us in the right direction. He explained a simple, direct, easy route that I would have never figured out on the map, and I would have never guessed to go down the small alley/street he indicated. The old town was only a 5-7 minute walk down lovely, wide pedestrian streets. The hotel is right next to the opera house and a park runs in both directions. After exploring the old town, we walked back to the hotel and enjoyed just walking in the park (which is loaded with cute bunnies nibbling the grass). The bellman recognized us coming and going and was very friendly. Later in the evening, we decided to have a drink in the bar. The service was friendly, the drinks were good, and the atmosphere was comfortable. Olives and little crunchy nibbles came with the drinks. Overall, the Sofitel Opera Frankfurt was a perfect experience: excellent service and location, beautiful hotel, and a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. If I return to Frankfurt, I would book this hotel. I wouldn't bother checking anywhere else. My only tip is that if you are beginning or ending a tour, as we were, book independently. I could have booked the Sofitel through our river boat line, but the charge through them was three times what I paid on the hotel's website.

Yelp
This hotel is very boozhee. Check in was fast. The lobby elevators you use your card and it selects which is fastest to your floor so don't just jump on the first elevator that opens. Super nice rooms. Breakfast was 37€. I walked to the grocery store instead. Gym is 24/7. WiFi is fast and free. Great location downtown.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at this property a couple of weeks ago before Christmas. The property really is beautiful and tucked away on a quiet street next to the Opera House. Check in was simple and every staff member we encountered was very friendly and helpful. Our room was nice with a pretty view of the park and city. The bed was a little lumpy though. The bathroom was very spacious and the Hermès bath products were a nice touch. The gym is very very small but the indoor swimming (lap) pool is enormous. We had breakfast downstairs once (a bit pricy if you're ordering a la cart so I would say just go for the buffet) and drinks in the lobby bar one night as well. I give this property four stars because it was a bit quiet and sleepier than we were expecting but still a very nice stay!
