Let’s start with positives : after reading a lot of negative things about breakfast - I was skeptical. However, breakfast turned out to be the thing to look forward to every morning - and trust me I’m very picky when it comes to that. They have a small buffet but the best thing- you can order from a little menu and they will bring you literally anything- from an omelet and freshly squeezed orange juice , to a French toast or sliced avocado that’s melting in your mouth. Everything prepared in an outside kitchen in front of your eyes and decorated beautifully.
I also didn’t have a problem with room - yes the hotel is a little bit outdated, but it’s very clean and the ladies do a wonderful job in that and make sure that rooms and common areas are kept clean. Thank you for that !
I’m not sure that’s air conditioning is located at the best spot- right in front of bed. Be careful not to keep it too cool otherwise you might get sick with extreme temperatures outside and full power air conditioning.
Dinner- your only option in hotel is a “Michelin wannabe “ restaurant which in my opinion does not meet the standards to be one. Even though the food looks visually appealing it doesn’t taste that great. Too many spices, too many smoky flavors that don’t mix well together in my opinion. And the worst thing is- you have no alternatives in the hotel. There’s no casual place to eat. Your only option is walking to a nearest town Porticcio which is 30 min walk. We did that one night and after that we just rented a car. We realized without a car in this heat it’s impossible. And same with beaches, nearest beach is 30 mins away , but if you want a really nice beach I suggest Plage de Mare e sole which is reachable by car (20 mins). Hotel has a tiny beach but there’s no wind and the sand is brown. And the pool- which was always full but I personally don’t understand the fun of staying by the pool. You travel all the way to Corsica and end up staying by the pool?
And now the part about the hotel which has really put me down: staff speak either very little or completely no English. My advice- if you want international guests- then start hiring staff that speak English. It is almost embarrassing. We asked to store our bags on last day, when we came back we asked for the bags and to take a shower. The lady didn’t understand a thing, and the man behind her (probably the guy who delivers suitcases to rooms) also didn’t understand it. Eventually we got the bags back. We were on the way to the spa, and we realized the elevator was broken, so we went back to the reception to ask for an alternative way to the spa. There was another lady there and she informed us we were not allowed to go to spa with suitcases. So why did the receptionist not informed us about this earlier ??! Why nobody told us that elevator was not working?Because nobody was speaking English! Eventually we managed to get to spa to take a shower and I must say thanks to the spa staff - she was speaking great English, was friendly and we felt welcoming. Some of your receptionist staff should learn from her.
You guys don’t have menus in English. When we went for dinner the guy struggled to explain us what the ingredients were? What’s so complicated to prepare menus in English?
We also had issue with an invoice since someone booked a boat trip for 500 euros on our room! But luckily there was a guest relations manager and that got sorted out quickly.
Another negative thing - they didn’t offer us a late check out. If that hotel is presenting itself as a 5 star hotel- they must offer a late check out either for free for status guests or for a fee! We were just told NO. Even though hotel was not fully booked, since I checked availability for next days online.
Overall I would come back for the breakfast and for cleanliness. Also for beautifully maintained outside areas and the views. However was let down by some staff. Location is not great. Gym too hot! Lunch/ dinner options are non existent. Hotel doesn’t feel like foreigner friendly.Feels like it’s only designed for French guests.
