"Housed in a former Bavarian Royal Post Office building, the swank Sofitel Munich Bayerpost oozes upscale class from its Neoclassical facade right through to its contemporary interior. The 339 rooms merge classic and contemporary elements and feature bright fabrics, oversized photos, and materials such as leather, natural woods, and glass—plus comfy beds and natural-stone bathrooms. The additional 57 suites kick things up a few notches with extra indulgences, more space, and striking interiors that veer refreshingly far from five-star formality. Specialty suites with names like Scheherazade and Imperial take inspiration from the Old World and Old Hollywood, respectively; the Family suites have two floors; and the two So FIT suites come with an in-room treadmill, cardio bike, and free weights. If you can tear yourself away from such plush surroundings, you’ll also find a fantastic spa (with a heated, spiral-shaped pool and pampering treatments) and three suitably upscale dining and drinking options."

Excellent hotel with wonderful amenities. Our room was well appointed, spacious and housekeeping did an excellent job of keeping it clean and replenished. The breakfast was also excellent, with very helpful and attentive staff. The guest relations officer was very helpful as well as the front desk staff. We also had the pleasure of meeting the hotel manager as we departed who is clearly doing an outstanding job of ensuring guests are well taken care of. We loved our stay at this Sofitel and would return again without hesitation.

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The price is so reasonable. Unbeatable! The room is just as pictured, very stylishly designed. Staffs are great, 5 stars standard. The pool is so cool & even better the spa amenities are completely free! Location cannot get any better. 10’ walk from marienplatz & all the good eats.

If you are arriving in Munich via train, this hotel is literally right outside the station. It is very convenient and also very convenient to the S and U line trains and the above ground trams that can take you around the city. The hotel has comfortable rooms with nice showers and bathrooms. The breakfast buffet that was included with our rate was wonderful and offered nice vegan/vegetarian options.

My family and I stayed at the Sofitel Munich for our family vacation and it was one of the best hotels we have stayed in in a long time. The hotel was beautiful, clean, and had a very nice and professional staff. We had the privilege to meet and get to know the hotel manager named Umut. He was amazing! He was very friendly, helpful and my college boys really enjoyed chatting with him. Umut and the entire hotel staff made sure our stay was perfect and that we were happy. We all agreed that when we visit Munich again, we will definitely stay at the Sofitel Munich Hotel. It was great! Umut is the best hotel manager we have ever met and enjoyed getting to know him. 😊

I had a small issue with the room upon checking in and I was contacted by the duty manager Mahmoud who made sure that the issue was resolved and his genuine hospitality and care to make our stay unforgettable was really the highlight of our stay. Mahmoud took it upon himself to personally help us which I really appreciate and I am grateful to have met Mahmoud and will look forward to our next stay! The location of the hotel is right next to the central station which is very convenient. The room is very spacious and the bed is very comfortable. The amenities are very refreshing as well!

Visit in May 2025 Luxury stay in Munich. I was looking for something for one night as a stopover during a longer trip. I liked it so much that we will just come here for some city break for 3 nights. Hotel right in the center, you can easily walk to the old town on foot. Professional service from start to finish. You will actually feel like you are in a 5* hotel. Spacious rooms, well equipped. We came with a small cat and there were bowls and a bed waiting for him. We did not use the breakfast due to leaving in the morning, but we were at the bar. Nice service and delicious cocktails.

Google
We enjoyed a nice stay here. The highlight was the exceptionally friendly service, the breakfast and the convenient location next to the train station. Just be prepared to hear trains every now and then. We were also a bit disappointed that there was leftover food from the previous guest at our door for nearly 24 hours. Otherwise, it is a beautiful hotel.

Hotel is located next to the train station. Unfortunately the direct surrounding isn’t too great, although Old Town is walkable. Building itself is beautiful, elegant and fully renovated. My room was great, spacious and comfy. As always, amazing Sofitel feather bed made me sleep like a baby. Friendly staff.

Yelp
All the reviews say this but they wont let you check in early. You have to wait but they will hold your luggage. Convenient spot next to the train (which goes to/from the airport). The bar was kinda bleh and overly expensive even for a hotel bar and took incredibly long for a drink (skip it for sure). The hotel wasn't really that fancy was basically average. There are no special perks or treatments given. Location is about ~20 minutes to Marienplatz which is nice. They give you chocolates at night which maybe is their idea of service.

Yelp
Really lovely, with some weird quirks. The good: ridiculously comfy bed, beautiful venue, great WiFi, convenient location, amazing breakfast offerings. The meh: lack of truly private bathroom (glass doors only, no sound deadening!), ridiculously pricey parking (and sometimes you can only valet), ridiculously small gym, window features nonexistent view of train station wall. Big picture, this place is a lovely and elegant hotel option that has some odd quirks that prevent it from being a truly perfect hotel. Most of these issues would be acceptable if I was traveling alone and/or if I didn't need to exercise!

Yelp
Great location for Oktoberfest! In late September, we arrived via train from Paris on the very last leg of our trip across Europe. We were only going to do 2 days at Oktoberfest before flying back to the states. Our train arrived around 9pm and when we disembarked, there were signs that we had ARRIVED... drunk people singing dressed in lederhosen and dirndls! The hotel is a short ~4 min walking distance from the train station. We were able to cart our bags straight there. When we entered, the lobby is quite luxurious and the staff was welcoming. We got checked in and headed to our room which was snug but had all of the amenities and I especially loved the diptyque bathroom soaps and lotions! I didn't realize when I booked that this is a "French style" hotel which I think came through more in the style of service and offerings. The in-room breakfast was probably one of the best I had had during our whole trip although ordering on the pamphlet that you hang on the door always seems to be confusing for some reason. I read over the spa menu and wished that I had one more day to enjoy their services and relax. There was a convention at this hotel while we were staying. This is really something I avoid... especially on vacation. There is nothing worse than going out for a day of exploring and being reminded of "normal life" - business suits and business talk occurring all around you haha. The convention seemed to overflow into common spaces often... I'm guessing it was a great time for them, though!!! To be meeting in Munich during Oktoberfest! Oktoberfest grounds are only a 15 min walk from the hotel. There is not too much to see between the hotel and the grounds but it is quite convenient. There are a lot of pedi-cabs hanging around offering to give rides to those who may have had too much to drink or maybe just don't want to walk. We spent most of our time either at Oktoberfest or at the hotel... I am not sure if there are nice restaurants nearby but I didn't see anything particularly drawing me in on that short walk between the hotel to the fest. Perhaps if you walk the opposite direction, there's a lot of awesome stuff going on that we missed. Will need to go again next year!!!

Yelp
Amazing spa. Very accommodating and understanding. The spa person behind the desk who helped me who looked Asian and the massage therapist who was Asian were the best. Gym was small but had nice new equipment. Comfortable beds.

Yelp
The Sofitel Munich is a very nice hotel and very conveniently located next to the train station. I enjoyed my stay but my visit was tainted at check-in by the staff member trying to up-sell me a different room in order to check-in early. I've NEVER had a hotel do that to me, and I travel frequently all over the world. Outside of that issue, my stay was perfect. The rooms and common areas are clean and the decor is nice. The restaurants are excellent.

Yelp
Been waiting almost 2 hours for our room. Mix up at the train station as well. When we finally got to our room (after I went out the front desk twice), we were given an odd 2 floor "suite" I guess? The room is so hot, the blinds must be closed and when they're not, the view is of the roof of the building next door. The power for us to convert our phones isn't working and it's so hot in the upstairs "room" that there no way we'll be able to sleep there. Save your money Americans. This isn't the place

Yelp
We visited Munich over Thanksgiving and loved everything about this hotel. The location could not have been more perfect. The Lufthansa shuttle from the airport drops you off at the train station and it's a 2 minute walk from there if all the food options/scenery at the train station doesn't slow you down. :) Right from the moment you walk in it smells fabulous and the staff is friendly and ready to help you with absolutely anything you may need. Hermès toiletries and the staple yellow rubber duck. Need I say more? Okay the breakfast buffet is one of the best I've ever seen. Any kind of juice, tea, breakfast food you would want is there for you. Amazing! Upon checkout, we had to leave rather early (before breakfast was open) and the gentleman at the front desk offered us some pastries and a small gift since we were missing out. How nice is that?! My husband and I travel quite a lot and this is definitely in our top hotels to have stayed at. I would definitely stay here again during a future trip to Munich.

Yelp
At the end of our river cruise trip, we planned to stay one night at the Sofitel Munich Bayerpost hotel before flying home! Unfortunately, my wife and I found out that we tested positive for Covid right when we checked in to the hotel. It was devastating! But enough about our sad story! The reason for this review is for the team! This hotel staff, ALL OF THEM...were absolutely amazing! They checked in on us regularly, brought us flowers, brought us games, brought up our outside food orders, brought us Easter candy, brought us champagne, printed info for us, etc. This awesome team did everything and went far above and beyond to help us navigate a difficult time. Good news...we were vaccinated and boosted, so we were fine and just needed to quarantine! From my wife and I...Thank You! Cheers and gratitude to your awesome team! You truly made an unfortunate stay SPECIAL! You all are wonderful!

Yelp
4.5 Stars. I typically don't stay in super fancy hotels because I'm only sleeping there. This is probably the nicest hotel I've ever stayed at. Because they treated us so well the first time I came to Munich in 2017 (and the proximity to Oktoberfest), I returned. This place is overly fancy and super accommodating. They have everything you could possibly need. The only knock is the bathroom situation in our room, which had a sliding glass door that would either cover the toilet or the shower, but not both. And the sliding door did not reach the ceiling; therefore, as two guys traveling to Munich for Oktoberfest, we were forced to use the bathroom in the basement (if you know what I mean). It was an absolute slaughter after eating sausage, meat, and potatoes for four straight days and it would not have been fair to the other person to use the bathroom in the individual hotel rooms. Bombs away!

Yelp
The Sofitel is a gorgeous hotel located next door to the train station, which made our travels so convenient. It smells beautiful as soon as you walk in and the lighting and music are very calming. Everyone was helpful and professional- the concierge, the check in and check out and the restaurant staff. The rooms are pretty, spacious, quiet, and made for sleep! Very dark at night. Honestly the lighting for getting ready and putting on makeup could be better, but for sleep it is lovely. The beds are like comfortable pieces of a cloud. Robes, slippers, mini bar, and rainfall shower are every amenity you could want. I paid for breakfast to be included in my stay.... so paid for breakfast- but it is a wonderful experience. Beautiful juices, coffees, an upscale cereal stand, and many hot selections. Go at least once to experience it. The manager on duty worked hard to make sure tables are cleared and that things are moving smoothly. It was a great way to start the day. Highly recommended this hotel.

Yelp
First of all this is a "5 star hotel" (that's a facade of the actual truth) Upon my arrival I was to have a car set up by hotel straight off a flight from California - but as in many flights there are delays. Long story short driver didn't want to wait then left- I called to see where driver went- I was told he left but can come back in 45 mins - that was the immediate red flag. Got to the hotel and as a platinum member (my bf) was greeted poorly - first of all the front desk didn't even acknowledge the status or offer any cocktail at beginning - then when we asked about an upgraded- the front desk said he already checked us in (with only crickets behind us) he had the time to recheck us in - but he doesn't like working very much. I'm not going to mention the mediocre gym and get to what really pissed me off- I ordered late night room service (what makes a 5 star hotel is 24 hour room dining). First I asked for a chicken Caesar but was told they cannot do that - "fine" I said, "can I also get a chicken club with no bread" she said no, because it would look weird. Lmao that right there is a red flag to why they put her on graveyard shift- not the brightest bulb in the lamp. Anyways- I said fine and just ordered as is hiw she mentioned - So waited like 1hr and was like "where's my food?" The gentleman who answered said "oh she said you didn't want anything." Okay I was so pissed - because before I hung up with that girl she confirmed me order twice - before saying it would arrive soon. With guy on phone he insisted (with her beside him) that she never confirmed - okay I understand shitty service, but trying to GAS LIGHT me with PSYCHOLOGICAL GAMES- is bat shit crazy- how in the hell are you going to do that to a guest - a platinum guest at that!! I asked for her name and the guy responded "sorry I can't give that to you" WHAT THE FUCK AM I AT THE HOLIDAY INN OR A HOSTEL? This hotel is ran by amateurs with no clue in regards of what a 5 star hotel consist of. These clowns need better training and not for the circus! Pass hotel or just pass trip. **update (last day)- trying to order food and nobody answers the one at each button I pushed to get a human - it's a desolate place- I've never hated a hotel so much in my life

Yelp
Great spot to settle yourselves in Munich. We were thrilled to receive an early check-in after a long over night flight from Denver. Our room was amazing. Really well appointed, beautifully designed and comfortable. Nice surprising touches that my husband and I appreciated. Breakfast was included and we really enjoyed the room and food. Service throughout the Hotel was always great, from the front desk to room service. Efficient and very personable. We used the facilities of the spa on a daily basis. After running around Munich all day it was such a treat to escape to! We have stayed in many properties around the globe and this one rates in our top 10! The indoor pool is really unique and relaxing. Sauna and steam rooms were perfection. I highly recommend Sofitel Munich. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Yelp
Stayed one night for anniversary. Rooms were uniquely decorated but very small. Very centrally located with easy access to the underground and main train station. Tried to get the doorman to hail a taxi but couldn't seem to get any of their attention. Ended up walking over to train station and getting one on our own. Breakfast was wonderful with champagne and many local bavarian traditional foods. The pool and spa area is definitely 5 star. Nice changing/shower area stocked with shampoos and soaps. Pool is so cool. Shaped like a shell. Not for lap swimming but definitely very relaxing.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the refreshing Blyss Jaffa Sour Cocktail in their Isarbar. Intensive chocolate flavor and fine notes of oranges. Not a usual creamy chocolate drink, it is something very special and my cocktail of the year! I can also recommend the Blyss chocolate tart which is also made of the exquisite Single Bean Virgin Chocolate from Arriba. It is a must to try for all chocolate lovers

Yelp
Pretty good hotel although quite pricey as well. High points were location (next to train station and shopping area near old town), roomy bathroom/shower, and well designed hotel room with plenty of space to put things down. Minor negatives were reception area with above average wait times. Also not a fan of the dark nightclub look in common areas, but this may appeal to others. Overall a pleasant experience

Stunning building, beautiful rooms.... just disappointed that there is no decent gym is such a huge building ...

Yelp
Sofitel is a luxury hotel brand on par with some of the best, but not all locations live up to the reputation. Fortunately, the Sofitel Munich Bayerpost extruded luxury the moment I walked in. While some of the five stars hotels cut back on toiletries, Sofitel carried the famous Hermes toiletries when I stayed recently. The room was completed with many nice finishes including an extremely comfortable bed. The hotel is conveniently located near the central train station, but the immediate area around the station seemed somewhat sketchy. The hotel restaurant Delice La Brasserie was quite good. The gym was nicely equipped with the cool Technogym Kinesis Personal Vision, but the space was a little on the small side. My biggest regret was not being able to try out the spa, which looked quite impressive. Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas is one of my favorite hotels, and now I must say Sofitel Munich is right up there.

Yelp
Get past the cabbies hanging out and yelling at each other and drinking near the Hauptbahnhof and a truly great hotel awaits. The first three days of our trip were to be spent in Bamberg so the Sofitel was kind enough to store a few pieces of our luggage until we could get back. Once we did get back, the reception noticed I was wearing FC Bayern gear and asked if I was going to the Champion's League game against Arsenal that day. Alas, I was only going to the game that next Saturday. She directed me to the concierge just to give some ticket finding a shot. The concierge, in fact, assured us he could get us tickets but the price may be high. After a few calls, he did find options but they were a bit too much. After an hour or so, spent at the biergarten at the Augustinerkeller, he called me up and said we had tickets from a season ticket holder that met our budget. Fantastic. He stuck with it and came through with the goods and that was the highlight of a fantastic trip. The hotel lobby was nice and modern, all the staff very friendly. The room was gorgeous. Super modern but very comfortable. The Nespresso machines is a nice touch, as always. The shower was very neat, open to the rest of the bathroom in a quasi-Japanese style sort of way. Great tiling. The spa was also very cozy and holds one of the best and most unique indoor pools I have seen at a hotel. It is like an underground cave with two main rooms connected by a twisting "tunnel." The dimly lit nature of it really makes it great. The elevator can take you directly to the spa level if you want to just head out in your robes. Overall, one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at.

Yelp
Great place for a quick drink. It's steps from the train station. They also have a really tasty apple strudel.

Yelp
I have stayed at the Sofitel Munich six times over the last 3 years and it never disappoints. It is an amazing hotel with consistent staff and cleanliness. The food and the bar are great and it is in walking distance to main attractions and train station is next door. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Honestly, despite being a 5 star hotel - this hotel was just...ok. The location is very close to everything, but kind of random - right next to the train station and the streets surrounding it are not very nice. Lots of cheap shops, teens drinking on the streets at night, and people begging on the streets - not ideal. The external hotel, lobby and common parts are all really gorgeous to be fair - the rooms however leave a lot to be desired. The room was fine - but I'm not sure if we were placed in one that hadn't been remodeled? It just didn't feel that clean. The carpet in the room itself kind of creeped me out as it looked super old and it was extremely dark in the room. Fine place to stay, but, in my opinion, it was not a 5 star experience at all. We wouldn't stay here again.

Yelp
Horrible. We reserved 4 months in advance for the basic room. It WAS NOT the room in the online photos. The bathroom was beyond small, literally no counter at all, tiniest sink I've ever seen. Double bed (not King or two twins as listed). Our friends stayed in 'same' price room and their room WAS SO BIG, which is the one seen on the website. Our room was about 18 sq meters. Their 'same' room (with king bed not a double bed) was 25-30 sq meters. We voiced our concerns to front desk and they just said 'there are different rooms when you buy the standard room.' Really? Horrible! Don't stay here. I don't mind paying for what you get, but this place is awful. It's so expensive and they may put you in the tiny closet room!

Yelp
I stayed at the Sofitel Munich Bayerpost on several occasion, and I was more than happy each time. The hotel occupies an old 19th century palace that was refitted with a very modern and chic interior. It is conveniently located next to Munich Main Station and is within walking distance of most of the city's main tourist attractions. The rooms are fairly spacious and very modern. They come with various technical gadgets like ipod docking stations and flat screen TVs. The hotel has a beautiful and spacious spa area with a swimming pool like no other hotel I have visited. The whole spa area is fairly dark which gives it a special atmosphere, it houses several saunas and steam baths. Staff is on hand for different types of massages and a small bar offers all sorts of healthy drinks. The hotel houses two restaurants and a very nice bar. Breakfast is served in the main restaurant. At a price of about 30 EUR, it does not come cheap, but it is worth it. A great selection of local food (cheese, pretzels, white sausages...) accompany the standard offerings. The staff has always gone out of their way to help which has made the stay especially pleasant. I can only highly recommend this great hotel !

Yelp
Just had to come here, just to check it out. What a fancy smancy place this is. Expensive and it shows. The staff is a bit snooty, but maybe that's to keep the riff-raff in their place. The rooms look a bit smallish and dark, but well equipped with lots of tech. The Isarbar is what got me in the door. Nice setting, nice staff, and they warm up after a bit (maybe the room's a bit chilly). Good barmen, know their stuff and make a wonderful martini, vodka or gin. If you've got the euros, stay here. If not, come enjoy the bar. Enjoy!
google avatar

Yelp
I am reviewing brunch only at the Sofitel Munich because unfortunately, we did not stay here for our Oktoberfest visit. My friend and I stopped in for brunch on our last day in Munich and it was well worth the extra Euro. The selection was plentiful from breads, pretzels and pastries to eggs, French toast and meats; anything you wanted was there for you. In addition to the buffet selections, there was also an omelet station if you wanted something hand crafted as you watched. The servers were also very attentive, bringing coffee refills at just the right moments. When I visit Munich again, I hope to not only be back for brunch but also stay in this beautiful hotel. It is in the perfect location - walking distance to the center of town and right next to the train station. But as for just brunch, if you are a traveler looking for something hearty and indulgent, you should definitely go to the Sofitel as you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
If you exit the train station, you really have only 3 choices of accommodations: 1) Flemings - dude jacking off in lobby 2) Le Meridien - Awful housekeeping, construction zone 3) sofitel - best hotel, modern atmosphere, nice lobby, best bar, quiet! Seriously, if you are debating between these three, stay at The Sofitel. It may cost a bit more at first, but this tiny amount of expense is completely worth it. Sofitel is the only hotel that offers twice daily room service and a "more quiet" experience; this comes in handy, considering Le Meridien is in a construction zone. Not only that, but Flemings and Le Meridien have non existent housekeeping and are quite a bit noisier as well. If you stay here, you just have to understand the neighborhood. Its a bit more "gritty" then other areas in Munich; however, tons (and I mean tons) of businesses are based in this area. As long as you can get used to the "NYC grit", you will be fine. But don't stay here and expect the quintessential "Munich" experience, it simply won't happen. Back on point - the best part of the Sofitel? The crazy indoor pool area. this pool kept me warm quite a few times. Or maybe it was the cocktails. either way, this is my new go to hotel in munich. Unless I stay at the Mandarin over the summer.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel - very modern and German (naturally). I came in town for work and this place was suggested to me by co-workers that are based in Munich. It is located right next to the train station which is extremely convenient....and also surprisingly quiet. The staff was nice, the hotel was impeccable and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again! I can't say anything about the food because I didn't eat at the hotel.

Yelp
This week, I spent three days at a conference in Munich, all set in the Sofitel Bayerpost. I could make it short by simply stating that every aspect of my stay was excellent, but I think they deserve it that I mention a few especially positive aspects. First of all - the conference facilities are really good, very spacious, good atmosphere, lots of space on the stage, and fault free technical services. Catering in the breaks was creative, high class, tasty, really good too. Breakfast is a real treat, everything you like about breakfast is there in abundance and in excellent quality - including some Bavarian specialties like Weisswurst and Brezen. The service is as good as it gets, in every part of the hotel. I was particularly impressed with receiption personnel. I had bought some really rare cheeses in town and put them in the fridge of the minibar. I put a note on it to remind myself to take it along when I leave. "Don't forget the cheese." Well - next day it was gone. Properly disposed of, as the housekeeping personnel thought. I told reception, they checked, they were really sorry - and immediately sent someone over to Viktualienmarkt to buy the same again for me. This really is outstanding. The location is perfect, just outside of the Main Station, the rooms are impeccable, the building beautiful and the restaurant excellent - this is a really really good hotel.

Yelp
Pros: Friendly staff who are helpful and speak English. Location is great because it's in the middle of the town. Loved the all you can eat breakfast. Fresh food with lots of variety. Cons: Even though the location of the hotel is great, it's is also located right next to a train station so if you book a room make sure to tell them to put you on the other side. Room service food was nothing special. I ordered the club sandwich and the onion soup that were whatever. The sofitel burger was good though. They also don't offer a lot of good English TV channels. They have some but they are news. They have a lot of Arabic channels though. breakfast is expensive $38 Europe per person.

Yelp
Extraordinary!!! This is inside the hotel and truly a gem. The service is spot on and the food is excellent. Our large group had a long night of laughter, food and spirits on our last night in Munich. I only wished we were staying longer so we good go back just one more time.

Yelp
Great place right near Munich's central train station. Really, walking distance. Most Munich attractions are within walking distance, although the direct neighbourhood might not be the best. The hotel is still rather newish and well maintained. The overall design is very, very modern and rather dark, however, for whatever reason, they had some hideous bronze "artwork" distributed throughout the hotel. Which didn't match the rest of the hotel at all. Hideous. Really. Yuk. Rooms are of a decent size, very clean, and are equipped with matching bathrooms. However, the designers decided to integrate the toilet into the bathroom, which is only separated from the rest of the room by a (thin) frosted glass door. Not sound proof, if you catch my drift. Moreover, the desk chair provided had armrests which were so high that they prevented the chair from being stored under the desk - which made it more or less impossible to walk to the side of the bed it stood on. Design gone wrong, I'm afraid. Breakfast was OK, but really nothing to write home about. Nice place to stay when visiting the Bavarian capital if you want to stay at a modern hotel with decent rooms.

Yelp
As others have stated the hotel is essentially directly adjacent to the main Munich train station. While perhaps not the most scenic part of Munich it makes for a very convenient location. As I was traveling in and out of Munich into southern Bavaria by train this hotel served as an extremely convenient base. The rooms are ample if not large by European standards. The bed could've been more comfortable. I deduct one star for a horrible bathroom arrangement. The toilet and shower and sink are all in one small area with a sliding glass door that often would not close. Internet, while not robust, is now free. If you want more bandwidth you have to pay for it, however, I found the free level of Internet service satisfactory The restaurant and bar food was good to excellent. Service was impeccable and extremely helpful both at the front desk as well as in the restaurant and bar. The spa and pool are excellent and not to be missed if staying at the Sofitel. Depending upon what your needs are in Munich I do not hesitate in recommending this hotel. Again, if you are using Munich as a travel base for Bavaria this hotel would be an excellent choice.

Yelp
Stayed for two nights and loved it. Room is modern but still very cozy. The gym has everything one needs and the location is very central. Sofitel, as usual, is no disappointment.

Yelp
Average at best building, public areas, and guest rooms. Lack of attention from staff at all levels is systemic. Room AC is centrally controlled overnight and room gets warm. Housekeeping does not replenish minibar. Food options are OK but not great. Wifi aggressively terminates your connection daily. Cannot recommend this hotel.

Yelp
Literally beside the Hauptbahnhof (Munich's central train station), there could not be a more convenient location for weary travelers with large luggage. Arrive at the airport, take the 10.60 Euro train for 30 minutes to the central station, and you have arrived at the Sofitel. The charming old school façade gives way to a modern interior and a small eight story tower of rooms akin to a W in the USA. Our room was nearly identical to one we had a few years ago in the Shangri La hotel in New Delhi--modern, clean, with plate glass window above a large tub that overlooks the sleeping area. The mini bar allows only a small space in the refrigerator for your personal items. The beds are traditional European style--"king" size means two twins tucked together. In the bedroom, a Bose speaker with a remote control has a docking station for all i-pods and pre-i-phone 5 models. Our favorite touch was the Hermes bath supplies. The lobby is strangely pumped full of a masculine and overpowering sandalwood-ish scent. It is spacious and there are a few places to sit, though most are in the on-site café and restaurant areas. Wifi is complimentary and worked fine though we did not test it with heavy bandwith needs. Spa access is included in room charges, and offers a mineral scented steam room and a spacious sauna with adjacent showers--all in the textile free zone. There is a changing area and a small gym that is only marginally adequate for the scale and cost of the property. The gym could use more barbells (they stop at 12 kg). There are a couple treadmills, a couple elliptical machines, a stationary bike, medicine balls, a yoga mat or two, and a few futuristic machines that I could not figure out enough to use. There is a trolley stop just in front of the train station and the subway stops just below the train station. There is an overpriced grocery store, a Starbucks, a Doner Kebab stand, a bakery and many other food stalls in the train station. Getting to noteworthy restaurants will require a trolley or subway stop or two, but the system is so efficient you will not miss a beat. We were able to pay in advance to secure a buy 2 nights get one free deal, so our average per night room rate was substantially lower than the published rates--we paid approximately $210 USD per night.

Yelp
I just spent a week in this beautiful hotel. Wonderful staff, great location, stylish lobby and group spaces and a very comfortable bed. Only two things keeping me from giving it five stars. The bathroom is not very separate from the bedroom, which can kill the romance if you are a private type. And the lighting is quite dim so bring a mirror so that makeup can be put on wherever the light is best. Otherwise a fabulous hotel that i highly recommend.

Yelp
We had a great experience here - wonderful service and beautiful, modern decor with a museum-like vibe. Tons of room in the expansive lobby area to lounge and a small but luxe feeling spa area with one of the coolest pools I've ever seen. Room was a great size, bed was uber-plush and comfortable, and the Hermes products were a nice touch. Brunch/breakfast was as good as I've seen - expansive buffet with all the usual trappings - buttery smoked salmon, assorted cured meats and French cheese, made to order egg dishes and pancakes, and of course the obligatory Sekt bar and lineup of fresh tropical juices. Great location of course right next to the train station and 15 minute walk to Marienplatz. On top of all this, the hotel is family friendly and they welcomed us with kids robes/slippers, children's bath supplies, and a wonderful little teddy bear to take home. Children are welcome in the spa pool area before 5, which was a fun diversion as well. Wonderful experience! We will absolutely be back.

Yelp
We loved this hotel:). The concierge was extremely helpful when we had any questions. The layout of the room was gorgeous, though it is extremely modern...so there is no restroom privacy. Wifi is free, but it constantly times out...you can pay extra though to avoid this from occurring. There was a mistake on our final bill, and it was fixed immediately. It is also right next to the train station, which is extremely convenient. It is also a short walk to hofbrauhaus and many other beer gardens and beautiful sights. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
to be fair, I haven't stayed at this hotel I stayed across the street but wished very much I had stayed here instead. What I'm reviewing then is the wonderful customer service and quality of drinks that I experienced while hanging out at the ISArBar! First of all, you can link into their free WiFi from the bar which I used while I was drinking alone one evening to keep myself entertained. More importantly, the staff at the bar takes their jobs very seriously and are very experienced as well as attentive. They perform their duties with precision and also a flare of artistry that was a fun bonus. Not only do you get a well made cocktail, you are entertained during the making of it! I didn't try the cigar menu but if I ever go back I definitely will. Very cool. Thier bar snacks were wonderful and the dinner menu was delightful. Very high quality and delicious. The hotel loby and downstairs bathroom area was magnificent. I mean, the towels in the bathroom were heated. Wow! Very classy place! Thanks for a great experience.

Yelp
This was the first hotel we stayed at on our Christmas trip and it did not disappoint! Very nice and modern. The room was larger than I expected for a European hotel. Quiet at night with very comfortable beds. Although only a few complaints/suggestions. The king bed was made up of two beds put together, this is a common practice in European hotels and usually not an issue, but in this case the beds were on wheels and there was nothing to hold them in place, so they would start to roll apart very easily. Also, the light switches can be confusing due to the modern layout and once I turned on the light in the bathroom and the desk lamp turned on as well, waking up the wife. Breakfast is 28 euro and internet is around 35 euro a week for a single connection, as I recall.

Yelp
Sofitel Munich is a really trendy looking hotel - the lobby and general areas feel more like a nightclub. The rooms were the same - cool vibe but a little dark for my taste. Everything was very clean though with top notch toiletries (Hermes!)...though they made me smell like a man, which I wasn't too hot about. The greatest thing about this hotel is it's location, right across the street from the train station. We were able to walk over everyday to take day trips. Minus one star for no free internet in our rooms. At the price we paid, you'd think they could spot the couple of euros.

Yelp
I really liked this place. It has the outside of a stately building, and inside it has the upper-scale version of a W hotel feel. The food was delicious (particularly the Saturday brunch) and the service was excellent. And the location is tough to beat - right next to the pedestrian zone and the Rathaus. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
A very nice hotel in a very not-nice area. We chose this hotel knowing that we would be arriving by train and this is right next to the train station. That was very convenient after a long train ride and would stay here again. It was also within a 15 minute walk from Marienplatz and most of the other tourist attractions and tourist loading areas for excursions out of Munich. But as we all know the types of people who hang out around train stations are not exactly the cream of the crop. Lots of people hanging out drinking beer and actually had to quickly walk by a drunken brawl.

Yelp
Although I have yet to arrived at the Sofitel in Munich, my experience has been less than pleasant. I booked the Sofitel through American Express and due to changes with the delivery of my automobile in Stuttgart I was forced to change the dates on the hotel stay. Upon calling American Express I was told that they could not make any changes because it was a Sofitel booking and that it was a nonrefundable booking. They referred me to Sofitel and when I called the Sofitel reservation desk I was told they could not make any changes because it was a nonrefundable reservation that I had booked through American Express.. I tried to explain to both American Express and the Sofitel reservation department that I did not need a refund. In fact all I needed was to move my date three days earlier for the same number of days. I also explained to both that I was willing to pay the difference in the rate even though the same type room was still available for the days that I needed and at the same rate. Since I am meeting family and they had already made their reservation at the Sofitel I proceeded to make a second reservation. I have not canceled the reservation that I originally made hoping that the individuals at the front desk in Munich will be much more customer service oriented than the 800 number was. I will think twice before booking another reservation with Sofitel and what's more booking a reservation through my American Express platinum card. Disappointed

Yelp
Quiet rooms, comfortable beds, good location, well functioning air conditioning, prompt room service and a more than decent spa. This is a very easy place to stay.

Yelp
I pay premium to stay at 5 star hotels for a reason - for exceptional quality, service, food and comfort. The hotel is beautiful with its signature modern French accents, their concierge was a pleasure to deal with and their Hermes bath products were also great. Now for where they fell short: The mattress covered in what felt like a very synthetic, vinyl material. I suppose it's their way to prevent bedbug infestation. Smart... BUT, the only thing on top of it was a looser fitting thing sheet. It was quite uncomfortable because not only was it unpleasant to touch when the sheet moved around, but even with the sheet over it made the bed uncomfortably warm very quickly. That costed them one star. I'm taking off another star because how inept their kitchen management was in correcting a mistake. My husband dialed room service and ordered a hamburger made medium well "with slight pink in the center". They sent up a hamburger that was pretty much rare. Their solution? To take the cut burger down and reheat it! This was the best thing that a 5 star $400 a night hotel can come up with. I insisted they make a new one instead. When they did, it was now rare-medium, pink throughout and dripping with blood. It was truly disappointing.
