Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra

"Situated in the city's elegant Old Quarter district with nicely landscaped gardens, the Sofitel is both relaxed and sophisticated. Its 201 rooms in a colonial-style building have views of either the Mekong or Bassac rivers. No one can fault its location: Key city attractions including the Royal Palace, the National Museum, and Sisowath Quay are steps away. Understated pastel-colored decor includes a few Khmer architectural touches like delicate lintels, French-style furniture, and velvety brown wood floors (for a true splurge, try the 1,600 square-foot Opera Suite with Hermès amenities). The diversity of choices in the hotel’s roster of restaurants will remind you that travelers come from all corners of the world: There’s La Coupole, with Western and Asian specialties; the rustic Italian Do Forni; and Hachi, a Japanese restaurant with six private tatami rooms. If all the decision-making about where to dine is tiring, get a spa treatment that blends French influences (you are at the Sofitel, after all) with traditional touches, like the Mandarin Crumble Scrub or a no-oil Khmer massage that uses deft finger pressure for muscular stretching."

I had a pleasant stay at Sofitel Hotel Phnom Penh. The environment was elegant and relaxing, with well-maintained surroundings that made the entire experience comfortable. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile. Housekeeping was excellent—the room was consistently clean and well-kept throughout my stay. One area for improvement would be the breakfast menu, particularly in the halal section. It would be great to see more variety offered to cater to guests with dietary restrictions. Overall, a great experience and I would recommend this hotel, especially for those looking for comfort and top-tier hospitality.

An Exceptional Stay at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐||From the moment I arrived at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, I was especially impressed by the impeccable service and warm hospitality. Every staff member I encountered was professional, friendly, and went out of their way to make my stay memorable. Special mention to Ms Lou-Anne at the front desk and Ms Kim at La Coupole.||The room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully decorated with a perfect blend of French elegance and Cambodian charm. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the view from my room was stunning.||I loved the hotel’s amenities—especially the serene pool area, and the variety of excellent restaurants on-site, especially the French restaurant, La Coupole, and the Italian restaurant. The breakfast buffet was a real highlight, with an amazing spread of Western dishes (there was a separate restaurant Fu Lu Zou for Asian breakfast buffet).||The location is ideal: quiet and peaceful, yet just a short drive from Phnom Penh’s main attractions. It truly felt like a luxurious oasis in the heart of the city. The gardens are a special feature with an interesting variety of plants and birds.||Highly recommended—I would absolutely stay here again!

From checking in to checking out and everything in between was fantastic club lounge especially Piseth assisted us. He was very passionate about his country and he was great to learn some interesting things. Our room is amazing Sunday unlimited seafood. Brunch was the best thing ever. Next time we visit we will stay for more than two days we didn’t realise how good Phnom Penh is and especially the Sofitel. A visit to the Gym was well worth it. There were many machines. The two pools were amazing, especially the one at the rear of the Sofitel anyone wanting to come and visit here we have a great time.

I used my stay plus balance to stay at the property. But I upgraded to the Luxury Room. And during the check in, I was told that my room has been upgraded to Junior Suite and the room's really great! We were given a small dried flower bouquet, welcome amenities: pralines and some fruits, and as a platinum member we also got access to Club Millesime to enjoy the tea time and cocktail hours. We're really satisfied with the service, room quality, and food quality! Kudos!

We loved the rooms, amenities and facilities of the Sofitel in Phnom Penh but it was the staff that really made this place special. We came with a work related trip for my husband and all staff were kind and friendly offering suggestions for sightseeing. Kimlay and all the crew at breakfast were so welcoming and accomodating. I’m coeliac and they went above and beyond to make sure I was looked after with delicious food made to order. It was a very relaxing stay at the hotel and we returned for an extra night after visiting Siem Reap for a couple of nights. We were welcomed back like old friends. It is a special hotel ♥️

I stayed in the Superior Room with Club room access for 4 nights. Room & bathroom was spacious. Wi-fi worked well and the TV had plenty of channels.||||On arrival, we were welcomed with cold towel, iced tea and flower bouquets. After a quick check in we were taken to our room.||With club access, we had buffet breakfast, afternoon tea and evening canapés with cocktails each day.||It was AMAZING. The service was outstanding and the food & drinks out of this world. Thank you to Piseth for looking after us.||||The staff at Sofitel go above and beyond. Always there to greet us, open doors and help us with anything we need.||||IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN TO PHNOM PENH, HERE ARE SOME TIPS:||||1. On arrival, inside the airport there is a machine where you pre-pay for a taxi. You can pay via credit card. Walk outside and give the receipt to the staff (dressed in blue). They will call the car to you. Costs approximately AUD$24. Takes 40-50 mins to reach the hotel.||||2. Choose the Superior room with club access. You won’t need to think about eating street food as everything is provided for you. The cocktails were fantastic and there is wine or beer if you prefer. Gluten free food options are available too.||||3. Day trip idea - we emailed ‘Free the Bears’ an Australian charity and we became Bear keepers for the day. Preparing their food and feeding them. lunch provided and free t-shirt. This was an unforgettable experience. freethebears.org (bear-care-tour-cambodia)||||4. Day trip idea - we asked the hotel concierge to call a tuk tuk to take us out to 2 tourist sights. We didn’t need a guided tour, we just needed a driver to take us there and back. It cost approx $20USD cash (or riel) to visit the Killing fields and Tuol Sleng Genocide museum which took us about 4 hours. Entry fees to both places require cash (no card facilities)||||5. Visit the hotel spa for a massage and then laze by the pool.||||6. Spare time ? There is a shopping mall right next door !||||7. Download the Grab app and reserve your taxi back to the airport. Approx $20AUD||||There is an ATM machine in the hotel basement which you’ll need cash for tuk tuks and entry fees.||We didn’t bother going into town, as we enjoyed the hotel facilities too much.||||Have a great trip everyone. Make sure you stay at the Sofitel !

This is a magical and majestic building set in the middle of manicured greens in the middle of the city surrounded by a wall to keep the peace and quiet in. Outside is a bustling street with lots of hawkers selling local delicacies and just next door is a spanking new shopping mall with all the familiar clothing labels, restaurants and cafes to choose from. There is even a cinema if you decide to unwind with the latest block buster. The hotel itself has two huge pools located at different parts of the complex. An Italian, Japanese and Chinese restaurant also means you don't have to go far to enjoy the different cuisines. The lounge is huge and reminiscent of the colonial days with a full collection of alcohol for you to pick. they make mean mocktails with freshly squeeze juices, none of those factory churned dumps you get in other places. Lou Ann exemplifies what is best in a hotel manager, discreet, earnest and professional. She anticipated many of our needs and convey information with utmost grace and professionalism. Not to forget Pise from the member's lounge, he always made us feel at home and welcomed. That warmth cannot be bought or developed and we are grateful for his care. Most lovely place and highly recommended.
