Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese

"Why book? Sofitel Roma Villa Borghese is an elegant boutique abode situated in a grand 19th century palazzo on the edge of Villa Borghese. It’s regal and grand, with ornate, elegant hallways and classically designed guest rooms. Set the scene. Sofitel Roma’s design is Roman classicism meets French art de vivre. The clientele is sophisticated, well-travelled, and big fans of art and design. The backstory This may be a historic hotel, but it feels brand new, thanks to a multi-million euro makeover a few years’ back. French designer Jean-Philippe Nuel (Molitor, Paris; InterContinental, Marseille) was brought in to re-energize the property, upgrading its 78 rooms and suites, and adding a rooftop restaurant and a fitness center. The rooms Guest rooms and suites are big and bright, with iridescent ceiling art contrasting traditional wall panelings. Furniture is mostly modern, with beds in neutral hues, and mid-century style seating areas beside marble-topped coffee tables. Bright, contemporary art is placed just so, while cream curtains draw back to reveal big, expansive windows with views to Villa Borghese and St. Peter’s Basilica. Bathrooms are marble-clad and spacious, with Hermes toiletries and personalized bath robes, no less. The in-room Bose sound system was a pleasant surprise. Food and drink Settimo, the rooftop lounge and bar, serves an excellent Roman menu focussing on the region’s cucina povera (poor cuisine)—that is, tripe-heavy dishes and often-discarded cuts of meat. The neighborhood/area The hotel’s located on a quiet, unassuming street opposite Villa Borghese and Villa Medici. Handily, this also makes it within strolling distance of the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and the Sistine Chapel. The service Helpful and kind; nothing is too much to ask this lovely team. Anything else we should know about? The team’s recently launched a ‘Senses of Rome’ programme, with curated guest experiences based around the five senses: sight (a tailor-made Colosseum running tour), touch (a hat-making workshop at Rome’s oldest hat shop), scent (a flower-arranging class on the hotel’s garden-inspired rooftop), taste and sound (a private dinner at Settimo with a live Opera performance)." - Maresa Manara

The Sofitel Villa Borghese provides an excellent location. Its in a quiet neighbourhood with some amazing restaurants within walking distance. We got a suite and found the room very spacious. The food at the hotel was OK. Breakfast is on the pricier side but definitely amazing view on the rooftop. Would definitely stay here again. Rooms were clean and comfy. Most staff were pretty pretty friendly as well.

We arrived at Sofitel Borghese to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary as part of our Italian tour. We stayed in room 609, a spectacular corner suite. This suite is truly unforgettable. Spacious, bright, tasteful, clean, but the true gem is the view. Having Juliette balconies (yes plural) overlooking Borghese Park makes this room feel like a fairy tale. ||Staff throughout the hotel were delightful, always helpful, cheerful and knowledgeable. ||Worth noting is that we loved the location. We were able to walk to all major attractions in the city, calling cars was always a quick option as well. ||Don't miss out on the rooftop restaurant. Fabulous service and excellent fare. ||As Accor Diamond members, we do stay in many beautiful properties around the world. This was a top location for us and would very readily recommend to any discerning traveller. So not hesitate, you needn't.

Excellent hotel in a great location. The rooftop has an amazing view of the city, include St. Peters and the Pantheon. Don't miss having a drink upstairs and viewing the sunset. I'd especially call out the general manager, Sebastien, for excellent service and kindness. He went out of his way for my family. I would highly recommend.

Stayed for three nights and booked with Amex - Luxury Room queen size bed with garden views, and it’s listed to be 269sqm which is decent in Europe standards, but the room configuration did make the room seem very small. Usually AMEX bookings does result in an upgrade which in this case I do not think we did. We were placed on the third floor. Hotel seems new and we were near to the stair way which was a beautiful marble flight of stairs. We stayed early April which meant the weather was awesome and the fresh air from the garden opposite us was great, hearing the birds chirping. Service at the hotel was great and the decor of the room is interesting - a painted ceiling, with prints of Roman cultural pieces, with marble accents. Coffee machine was illy and the toiletries were Diptyque though the lobby was decked in Aqua de Parma goods. The neighborhood by which the hotel was situated at was brilliant, 10 min walk to the key sights like the Spanish steps and Trevi fountain. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was provided at the Settimo Restaurant on the top floor (8th I think). It provided amazing views of Villa Borghese as well as the city, boasting the view of the St Peter Basilica. Mornings were lovely and the spread of breakfast was simple but sufficient - bread, some hot dishes like cooked vegetables, cold cuts, cheese, orange juice, cooked eggs to order. Staff were also really amazing and friendly - Claudio and Gian Carlo. I’ll write more about our dining experience at Settimo in my Settimo review. The gym was small but had a decent number of equipment to work with. Overall amazing experience though at close to 1000 euros a night, if we could get a bigger room at another 5 star hotel. Anyhow, we are Accor loyal members and we leave with a great memory of the hotel and would probably visit again

I took my mother to Rome as a treat and we stayed at the Sofitel from 5th to 19th of May.||The hotel is in a good location: only a short walk to several sights, though we mostly used taxis.|Our room was excellent, spotlessly clean and comfortable.|The hotel's restaurant is superb, the food, staff, and the view are fantastic. I'm missing my daily tiramisu.||It’s the staff that really make this hotel. From the shower maids, who always had a cheerful greeting and kept the room spotless, to the general manager, all the hotel staff we encountered were friendly, helpful, attentive, and genuinely kind, which meant a lot and made our stay memorable. Thank you.||I can recommend the Sofitel Roma Villa Borghese, and I would definitely stay with them again.

Sofitel Roma Villa Borghese is a gem in the heart of Rome. The location is perfect. |The room was elegant, clean, and thoughtfully designed, with comfortable bedding and luxe touches throughout. Service was warm, professional, and attentive from check-in to check-out.|The rooftop view is absolutely breathtaking—perfect for sunrise breakfast or an evening unwind. Speaking of breakfast, the brunch included with our stay was delicious and offered a wide range of fresh options.|Highly recommend for anyone looking for comfort, class, and stunning views in Rome.

Not really a 5 star. We arrived and stayed for 3 nights. The service was more like a 3 star. Asked for room service 24/7 got the restaurant which closed at midnight. Had no ac in the room got a fan to get us by until fixed the next night. Asked for room cleaning for the bell boy to turn over room. This is ridiculous for a 5 star hotel. Not the service and hotel expected for $1000 a night.

Nice trip with family! No upgrades although Diamond member! No late check out not even for pay! Rooms are small but clean and nice! Location top! Staff friendly, but don’t expect any ambitious attempts!
