Sofitel Singapore City Centre

"How did it strike you on arrival? It's connected to the Tanjong Pagar train station in the Central Business District and is surrounded by office buildings, so that sets a bit of a corporate tone for the place as you arrive. The smallish ground floor entrance area showcases a beautiful hand-blown glass chandelier that lends fluidity to the feel. I had to take the elevator up to 5th floor, which opens up to a much larger space with a reception desk and lobby bar. The slightly masculine interiors were russet and brown with lots of mirrors and rose gold accents - Art Deco meets Prohibition. What’s the crowd like?Mostly business travelers considering its location. Staycations are popular with local couples and families on the weekends, when the surrounding area is quieter. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. The design of my lead-in category room was contemporary - lots of neutral colors livened up by pops of vibrant patterns on the rug, cushions and bed bench. The wardrobe has 20th-century explorer vibes, with its low chest of drawers that resemble a travel trunk and a full-length framed mirror propped up against the wall. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?Great support from the Sealy mattress, sheets were Egyptian cotton with a 400 thread count. A nice touch was the nine-pillow menu that included smaller Child and Junior options. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that worth a mention?I loved the adult coloring book of Singapore cityscapes in the room which came with a set of colored pencils. You're not supposed to remove it from the room though. No coloring in the lobby. The mini-bar had a selection of Asian beverages by local brands, with popular Singapore flavors like Water Chestnut & Sugar Cane, Coconut and more, which set it apart from that of other luxury hotels. If more mini-bar items are requested, a droid butler delivers them to you - that's what I'd kidnap. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. The rainshower was—as a Singaporean would say—shiok (highly satisfying)! The Lanvin products helped, of course. There was a bathtub too which came with a wine and book holder, just what I needed. We all need some good Wi-Fi. What’s the word on that?Fast and free for guests. Anything stand out about other services and features? The hotel has its own gym, but guests also get access to some wellness programs at the adjoining Virgin Active Fitness Club. What was most memorable about your stay? For a foodie like me, what made a stay here memorable was the location - many of Singapore's best restaurants and bars are within walking distance. And a train station is literally right below the hotel if you need to get anywhere else. Bottom line: worth it?Brand new rooms, in an area with plenty of local flavor (a couple of Singapore's best hawker centers are nearby as are rows of heritage shophouses and residential HDB blocks) and all the food and drink options you could want at your doorstep - totally worth it." - Audrey Phoon

"This is a business-first hotel, but for foodies, what makes a stay here memorable is the location—a couple of Singapore's best bars and hawker centers are within walking distance, as are rows of heritage shophouses and residential HDB blocks. The Tanjong Pagar train station is literally right below the hotel if you need to get around town. Brand new rooms and a minibar that gets refilled by droid butler (no joke) make it a sleeper pick." - Audrey Phoon

For the price paid, the service was honestly disappointing .. especially from the front desk. From check-in to check-out, the staff were unclear, unhelpful, and their body language was unprofessional. The check-in process felt rushed and impersonal, even though the hotel was not busy at the time. Key benefits such as lounge access or Virgin Active privileges were also not mentioned, which reflected a lack of attentiveness and training. Each time we requested a bellboy, we had to wait for over an hour. The only saving grace was the housekeeping team..polite, efficient, and genuinely hardworking. The facilities were poorly maintained. The pool was dirty, and the drains around it were covered with algae. The jacuzzi was mostly not functioning, with several jets broken or out of order. On top of that, the place was not easily accessible and quite inconvenient to get to. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, but the welcome amenity provided did not reflect my registered preferences and was not to my liking. To make matters worse, less than an hour after checking into our suite, a male staff member (from China) suddenly opened our door without knocking, saying he wanted to add more tea bags. That was extremely intrusive and unacceptable. Overall, this was a deeply disappointing experience that did not reflect the brand’s supposed standards, nor did it justify the premium price paid.

I am writing this review as an All Accor Plus Gold member with deeply disappointing feedback regarding my recent stay. The service I received from the reception staff was absolutely unacceptable for an upscale brand like Sofitel, and it completely ruined the end of my visit. The Incident: The most serious failure occurred on Tuesday, October 27th, 2025, at approximately 9:00 PM, when I approached the desk regarding my checkout arrangements. As a Gold member, I had requested a 4 PM late checkout at the time of my reservation, which is a standard benefit. The two reception staff members on duty at that time refused the request under the pretext that the hotel was "fully booked." It wasn't the denial itself that was the issue; it was the utter lack of courtesy, professionalism, and hospitality in their delivery. Their demeanor and body language were dismissive and cold—frankly, they acted as if they didn't want to be bothered by a paying guest, much less a loyalty member. For a hotel positioned as a luxury hospitality leader, this level of arrogance and poor customer service is shocking. Conclusion: When a hotel's front-facing staff demonstrates such an unfriendly attitude, it devalues the entire brand experience. My loyalty status was treated as meaningless, and the staff's conduct was entirely unbecoming of a supposed 5-star property. Management needs to immediately address this severe lapse in basic training and professional conduct. I highly recommend travelers reconsider staying here if they value courteous service.

Location was great, just above the MRT station with plenty of food choices. Room was decent. Check-in on the 8 Nov and incidentally experienced their power exercise at midnight. No lights the entire night and nobody follow up with it until we called over in the morning. The whole experience would be better if someone followed up with hotel guests after the exercise was done. It was not easy managing through the night like this with a baby waking up for night feeds.

Spent 3 nights and had a great experience here. Rooms are very nice and clean and very quiet. Included breakfast buffet was wonderful - great variety and overall excellent quality. The staff was very friendly and helpful. And hotel is right on edge of Chinatown, so food Hawker Centers are very walkable. Would definitely stay here again.

The best little corner of the city. Their latte is perfectly balanced! Super rich, smooth, and never bitter. The atmosphere is cozy with great music. A huge shout-out to John, who is always friendly, remembers my order, and makes my day instantly better!

Came for their afternoon tea set and was pleasantly surprised. The pastries were beautifully presented and the tea selection was great. John and Wenz provided warm, friendly service, and Kris was super helpful with recommendations. Such a lovely experience. Thank you for the birthday cake too!

We recently stayed at Sofitel Singapore City Centre for two nights to celebrate our second wedding anniversary, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. On the evening of our anniversary, we had a special dinner reservation at the hotel’s restaurant, RACINES. The staff members – Charlene, Mark, Winnie, and Zaw – went above and beyond to make the occasion memorable. They prepared a beautiful window-side table decorated with rose petals, creating the perfect romantic setting. What touched us most was Charlene’s thoughtful gesture. She surprised us with a hand-drawn and decorated anniversary card, a keepsake we will cherish for many years to come. Thanks to her kindness, my husband and I have decided that for every future anniversary trip abroad, we will celebrate the special day at a Sofitel property. The dining experience itself was exceptional. Every dish was delightful, but the pineapple chicken steak stood out the most – the subtle pineapple fragrance still lingers in my memory. Beyond the dining, the hotel’s facilities were equally impressive. The swimming pool was stunning, offering a relaxing and luxurious atmosphere. We are deeply grateful to the team at Sofitel Singapore City Centre for making our anniversary celebration so meaningful. It is a stay we will never forget – thank you sincerely.

Had a wonderful afternoon tea here. The sweet and savoury were fresh, the tea were tasty, and the whole setting felt calm and relaxing. John was very attentive and checked on us throughout, while Wenz and Kris made sure everything was served perfectly. Excellent service all around.

Yelp
I spent about two of the last twelve months at the Sofitel in Seoul, and managed to accumulate quite a lot of points, status, and upgrades from Accor. I put some of this to use during a one-night stay in Singapore, booking the Sofitel in the City Centre and redeeming a suite night upgrade. The hotel conveniently located, right by Chinatown and just a quick stroll from the subway. The surrounding area was attractive and walkable. Definitely a great hotel for an overnight trip. It was a nice hotel, too, with a new, expensive feel. The shared areas were calm and pretty, though strangely filled with large, desultory stuffed bees and teddy bears. We got our suite and it was huge and luxurious. Two bathrooms, one of them enormous, and a well furnished living room, in addition to a commodious, comfortable bedroom. My Accor status also got us some welcome sweets, I think an assortment of macarons and chocolates. Service did leave a little to be desired. Everyone was perfectly pleasant, but it sometimes felt like the hotel had just opened that week. We checked in super early, coming off of a four-and-a-half-hour redeye, understanding that we might not be able to get in our room right away. The receptionist told us our room was actually unoccupied, but that housekeeping needed time to get it ready. She told us we could wait in the cafe/lounge area, but when I asked her how long it would be, she wouldn't give us an estimate. I said we didn't want to sit there for two hours, and she said she'd update us through the woman attending the lounge. This worked out, since we had breakfast included with our stay. I had a handful of buffet noodles, which were fine, and we spent half an hour or so getting oriented and planning out our day. No one gave us an update in that time, and when I asked for one, the lounge attendant acted like she didn't understand the request. We were finally told, after some back-and-forth with the front desk, that our room wouldn't be ready for hours. There was also some planned annual maintenance, between like 11:30 and 12:30 at night, when the elevators would be unavailable. We had a midnight bar reservation and made sure to be out during that window. We came back after one in the morning to a room without power. We were exhausted, and this was an unpleasant surprise. Thankfully, they sent the hotel electrician right away, and it was a quick fix. Overall, we were happy with our stay. I'm glad we picked this hotel and would recommend it for its rooms and location. I secured Accor Diamond status while I was there, so I guess I'm Sofitel loyal until that expires.

Yelp
Its location is convenient, especially if you want to avoid the Singapore weather. The mall is directly connected to the hotel and TWG is right in the hotel lobby. I honestly thought the sandwich shop next to the front desk was outrageously expensive, but who knows maybe it's very palatable. The guest rooms are pretty standard and relatively clean. The next door Fremont hotel supposedly one rank above, but I didn't feel much difference except the motorized window drapes.
