Sofitel Xian On Renmin Square

The Conceirge booked us a magnificent tour to see the Terracotta Warriors. We chose a private personalised tour with a driver plus a tour guide. The Tour Guide, Nancy, was exceptional. Her English was excellent, she added stops to our itinerary to allow us to see some local theatre on the way back to the hotel. She found lovely local restaurants and catered to meet the needs of my gluten free and dairy free diet. Nancy was so good we booked her again for a second day to see more sites and restaurants and a further 2 local shows. Nancy made our stay in Xi’an exceptional and she showed us another side of Xi’an not normally seen by tourists. I highly recommend Nancy if you require a tour guide in Xi’an 😊

Sofitel Xian On Renmin Square is a hotel located in a historic area in the center of Xian. This area also includes the famous Sofitel Legend Peoples Grand Hotel Xian and Grand Mercure Xian Renmin Square. Even though it's in the city center, the place is quiet and full of trees. From the hotel, it’s easy to get to many popular tourist spots like the Drum Tower and Bell Tower. The hotel lobby is big and elegant. The staff are friendly, always smiling, and give great service. The manager welcomed us warmly, and check-in was fast. Our room was upgraded to a Prestige Suite, which has a separate bedroom and living room. The room is a bit old, but still very nice and comfortable. All the staff were helpful and tried their best to assist us, even if some don’t speak English very well. We could still feel their kindness and willingness to help — especially Joanna Sia Miao and Will, who gave excellent service. Breakfast is served at the Azur Restaurant on the lobby floor. There’s a wide variety of food, including local Chinese dishes, eggs, bakery items, fruits, and freshly made noodles with different types to choose from. If you book a room with breakfast included, it’s very worth it because it gives you good energy to explore Xian during the day. In the evening, the Executive Lounge offers light dinner and drinks during cocktail hours. The food is enough to replace dinner, and there are many drink choices — beer, red wine, white wine, sparkling wine, and cocktails. The staff there are also very nice and friendly, making the place feel cozy and relaxing — almost like home. If you are looking for a hotel that’s worth the price, has great service, a peaceful atmosphere, and is located in the city center, we highly recommend Sofitel Xian On Renmin Square.

Location is excellent. Its a 8 min walk from Wulukou station and shopping centre. Bell and Drum tower 30 min walk. The staff were excellent, I really enjoyed talking with the Andy, he was very helpful and could always suggest where to go and how to find things. I arrived earlier than the check-in time but staff had no problem finding me a room that was ready. I didnt buy food from the hotel as the Fresh Hippo, next to Wulukou station sold good quality fresh food and it was very cheap. I was in a room overlooking a balcony (which no-one had access too). The balcony was dirty, cracked, covered in moss and it had a large over-hang which meant limited natural light got into the room so it was always dark.

The Sofitel in Xi’an was absolutely exceptional. True luxury at a great price. The hotel itself is elegant and comfortable, but what really stood out was the service. Andy, who works at the concierge, was a delight. He has studied linguistics and speaks fluent English, which made it such a pleasure to have clear and engaging conversations and get helpful local tips. It was a refreshing and warm experience, and I felt truly welcomed. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Xi’an.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, it took around 40 minutes to get to the hotel from Xi'An Bei railway station by taxi at a cost of around £5-8 depending on the type of car. The hotel is around a 30 minute walk from the bell tower so it is in a good location. The room was good we had the Junior Suite it had a comfortable bed with loads of space and a good bathroom. With the room we had Club Sofitel access which gave us access to some drinks during opening hours, afternoon tea between 3pm-5pm and happy hour (better drinks selection and dinner buffet) between 5.30pm-7.30pm which was great. Breakfast had a good selection of Chinese and more western cuisine. This hotel is a great option for your trip to Xi'An.

We had a fantastic stay here! The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, close to downtown . We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

The location is fantastic, the rooms are spotless, and Drum Tower is just a 20-minute walk away. During my last visit, I was generously upgraded to a king suite. The concierge was incredibly thoughtful—when I arrived late at night, he checked if I was hungry and even ordered food for me over the phone. Such attentive service made my stay truly memorable!
