Extremely cool bar. You must go if you are on the island just to see it and have a Margarita. Really strong, very good drinks. Fajita Tuesday is incredible. Cold plunge pool wakes you up for another drink. Fun stuff.

Locals love this place because they get good service and prices. If you are a tourist… beware. We love the local dive scene, but rude service is never acceptable. The lady behind the bar tonight would not even look at us. We spent $200 the day before and $80 today. You would think they would be appreciative. We were kind and respectful. Hit the Gecko, the Joint anywhere but this trap. Not worth the stress.

We did not stay at the so I get peso, but met friends there for appetizer and drinks. Everything was delicious, but be careful of the margaritas! They are very strong! It is such a happy atmosphere and everyone is very friendly!

Had to go here since we just went to the one in the British Virgin Islands, actually called the soggy dollar. We saw this name and laughed, but had to do it really cool. I mean, you can tell this place has some history as well, really cool ticky bar vibe, just a place you can hang out in all day and drink, they have steps down to the beach, these Little Beach chairs and everything so you can make it to the water really easily. Did not stay in any room. So I can't comment on that. The service was excellent. Just a note; You can pass this thing pretty easily when you come in and you park your Golf car. It's kind of alleyway, it's kind of not really obvious you gotta walk up to get to this bar, lots of fun. 👍

I didn't stay at the rooms I only went to the bar so I cannot rate the accommodations. My husband and I arrived and the bar was packed and we were greeted within seconds and were accommodated with seats at the bar. I ordered their margarita and it was a banger!!! Two sips in I knew it was fiya 🔥. They had a great bar vibe and my husband and I watched the sunset so it was even a bit romantic (but I had 3 margaritas by that time). This is not a location to expect authentic Mexican cuisine or warm service. However the food and the service are appropriate for the type of establishment. It was bar food and attentive service. We almost did not give because of some of the negative reviews we read but I'm glad we went to check it out for ourselves.

Google
Rude staff, we had issues even getting drinks, lady behind the bar ignored us…. It wasn’t even busy. We couldn’t even get a bill for the drinks we finally did get. So we left money, then got chased down for being a dollar short. They wouldn’t give us attention to get us a bill! Definitely, put a sour twist on the day! They need to clean staff out - especially the very rude lady bartender! She was so mean to us. We always support American businesses when over seas…. I can’t support a business that treated us like this. I emailed and got a response from the owner (I assume), she was receptive… but something needs to be done with staff. The owner invited us back for “drinks on them”…. It was a decent offer, but hard when so many people do day trips to the island (as we were doing.) We went to Kin Ha after, spent our money…. They treated us like royalty.

The Soggy Peso is an absolute must-visit on Isla Mujeres. We came here twice, once to start the trip and once to end it, because it just felt like a rite of passage. The drinks here are legendary for a reason, strong, dangerous, and worth pacing yourself. There’s even a sign on the way out that says, "We hope you've been overserved." 😂 The margaritas hit hard, and I went for the Painkiller, which, true to its name, definitely does the job. We also grabbed some bar food, which was solid and helped soak up the drinks. The vibe here is pure, old-school dive bar charm. Sure, it could use some updates, but honestly, that’s part of what makes it great. The owner and staff were awesome, super friendly, and made us feel welcome. Before we left, we even stapled a sticker to represent Texas and our visit, love that they let people leave their mark. Pro tip: If you’re hanging out around this part of the island, bring mosquito spray or wear a bracelet, you’ll thank me later. Also, proceed with caution and a designated driver, these drinks do not mess around. 😆 Would 100% come back without a doubt, we had a blast.

Google
1st time here. Met some great people and had some interesting conversations. I couldn't seem to get another drink because the bartender lacked attentiveness. I asked another patron what her name is. After calling her by name, she looked at me with a straight face, no smile. Didn't acknowledge me. Eventually I flagged a male waiter down and he told her what I wanted. She's lucky I gave her 100 pesos on a 1500 peso bill! She could have had 20% or more. Not too bright!

Geoff S.

Yelp
Best margarita ever! Be sure to grab some food- particularly when they're smoking the good stuff.

Nadine L.

Yelp
Delicious pina colado Got the fish tacos and it was delicious. Tortilla itself was delicious. The shrimp ceviche has good flavor too. Tiny little beach front where you can see the ocean.

Suzy D.

Yelp
It's the vibe you want on the island when you just want to kick back with a cold beer or margarita. They also have food, including a daily special; we usually get the Sikil Pak (pumpkin seed) dip. It's under new management and a few things have changed since last year, but overall still a spot we have to swing into when we're on the island. It's mostly tourists/ex-pats, moreso than a locals hangout, but the bartenders are chill and it still has more of a divebar feel than fancy (which we prefer). As it caters to tourists the prices aren't dirt cheap but decent $4 beers and $8-9 cocktails. Tips: -- pretty sure it's cash only. -- They have a new sign that makes it easier to find but the bar is behind the building on the street -- just follow the signs. -- There are only a few golf cart spots in the lot directly out front of the bar, however a few feet away you'll see another sign that says Additional Soggy Peso parking and there's a huge lot there. -- if you walk past the bar you can take your drink to sit on the beach

Jill C.

Yelp
We came here for some drinks and snacks. We got the onion rings and nachos. Nachos were pretty plain but VERY cheesy. We saw signs about no kids under 18, but it didn't seem to matter. We brought our kids with no problem. We enjoyed hanging out and seeing the restaurants dogs play. Service was friendly but slow.

Matt H.

Yelp
This place is dope, great vibes, great wait staff, slower paced so dont go hangry, but food and drinks are the bomb. Crispy tacos are now friday, and an absolutely must! Im 6'1 and 245, need 2 x 3 tacos cuz theyre smaller, but damn good and not mucho dinero. Drinks were good, quacs bomb af to. They prefer no kids but they let our party of 8 1/2 (4 yr old) come in, and we were very thankful! Cuz the crispy tacos are an absolute must! #austintexasreviews #itstacotime

Jim C.

Yelp
How can you not like a place called the Soggy Peso? This is a small place with used baseball caps affixed to nearly every spot where a baseball cap could be affixed. My wife and I only had drinks, but they did not disappoint. As you're leaving, the sign outside the place says "We hope you've been overserved." Mission accomplished. Should I ever find myself back on the island, I would definitely get away from the overly touristy places and come down here for a beverage or two -- just be careful if you drive your golf cart here!

Rachel O.

Yelp
My favorite local spot! It hasn't changed at all over the last 10+ years. Fridays are my favorite because I love crispy tacos and they are still so affordable compared to the rest of the island. Be careful with the drinks....delicious by dangerous!

Spencer H.

Yelp
New owners have brought in more business but there has been a slip in quality of the food being served. The biggest travesty of all is the margaritas have gotten smaller.

Jenny L.

Yelp
This place has gone down hill bad. The drinks are weak and super sugary, service was poor at best and the mosquitos are insane. Disappointed to say the least as we've loved stopping here on previous trips.

Sydney W.

Yelp
We love Soggy Peso! This was our second time staying on the island and each time we've been to Soggy Peso has been great. Great food, margaritas, and a chill vibe. What more could you need?! This is a must go when you visit Isla Mujeres.

Tammy D.

Yelp
Food we had was excellent. Beach view was awesome. Quaint little beach bar! Service was good, and adults only helped!

Kareen E.

Yelp
Great place for margarita, but don't get the ceviche if you don't like peas, because for some reason, there were peas in our ceviche!

Cheri B.

Yelp
Great little beach bar. If you like cool little joints on the beach, you'll love this place. Nice friendly servers. Good cold beer too haha! Lucky us... Lobster Tacos were the special!! Killer good... full of flavors with succulent lobster pieces! We loved this place and will definitely go back on next trip to Isla!

Laura G.

Yelp
Hmmmm...... Over serve or Roofie??? Who knows, but was 1 marg and then done... Not ever returning here. Thank God, we were in a group. It seemed like they played russian roulette with the drink. We all had the same thing and one of us could not walk after just one marg. Makes -0- sense at all unless you are roofied. Matter of fact, everyone else had 2 margs, but he one person who could not walk out only had one. Really???? We will never return and we visit Isla 3-4x per year.

Monae P.

Yelp
Listen... this place looks very unassuming...it's literally a bar with a few tables run by some very laid back folks that just wanna show you a good time. They serve 2-3 different tacos everyday, some killer onion rings (ask for the sauce served with shrimp tacos instead of ketchup), nachos and tostadas. Now the margaritas, NO JOKE! Please leave your ego at the door! PERIOD!!!!!!!! Have one, drink a bottle of water, another margarita, and another entire bottle of water. If you don't, you will be dancing on the table before you know it! Trust me! Enjoy!

Jim J.

Yelp
Entrance is a little confusing for those of us less smart people. The lady at the house next door was very friendly, though. Great chips and cheese!

Annalise P.

Yelp
Amazing service and strong drinks. Be careful with the margaritas. 2 is more than enough to knock your socks off

Lissa B.

Yelp
Awesome! Finally had a delicious margarita on Isla! Ceviche and guacamole were yummy, too. Definitely going back!

Mindy S.

Yelp
One special per night. We had the lobster tacos that were good but not wow. They do have other stuff too. The onion rings and nachos were really good. This is a great place to watch the sun go down too. A little hard to find and looks like a total dive but food is worth it.

Stanley M.

Yelp
A hidden gem. Dark, packed bar with a friendly attentive staff. Food is yummy. Seating out back facing the bay is really pleasant.

Tammy F.

Yelp
Great place for drinks and daily specials! Tucked away down small path! Margarita is the best blue one i have had ! It has a kick ! Hot wing special..husband loved them. Burgers are very big! We will be back to try more . Bring a hat and leave it here for decorations!

Don S.

Yelp
Awesome margaritas! Two will knock ya down! Interesting hidden location. 3 nice hotel rooms are on property as well. Tacos special of day was good. I had the lobster, wife had the shrimp. Fun place. Cab it here if you are gonna have more than one or two margaritas!! Owner very friendly ex pat. Have fun!!

Mara N.

Yelp
Best Bloody Mary's!!! ( and I'm VERY picky) This is a must stop when coming to Isla Mujeres! Fun atmosphere.

Chris W.

Yelp
This was our second trip to Isla and once again, we spent a good bit of time at the Soggy Peso. The first evening we went for drinks and had the ceviche everything was great!! A few days later, after a day on the beach, we went for some lobster tacos, margaritas, and a pain killer! Our last day visiting The Soggy Peso was a Wednesday, which we found out was Corn Hole tournament day. It was also Wing day! Our family had three baskets of wings and two orders of nachos. It was all delicious, the beer was cold, the service was excellent, and the corn hole competitors were much better than me. There is a reason that the Soggy Peso is an Isla institution! Tom and the entire staff were friendly and helpful. We love the Soggy Peso and it will be our first stop the next time we go to Isla Mujures!!

Madison R.

Yelp
really neat spot. somewhat pricy. it was super quite and almost awkward when we arrived, so we ended up not staying. but it looks like a neat spot!!

Ron A.

Yelp
A must stop when on Isla. Best margarita on the island. Beware of number 2, will weaken your knees. Pain killers are great too. Daily tacos are the fare and BBQ on the weekends. If you've ever been to the Soggy Dollar Bar you have to complete the cycle with the Soggy Peso.

Erica W.

Yelp
Second time on the island and will be back. This is a hidden gem!! From the front you'd never know how awesome this place is. So much character, great pool area, awesome bar and laid back beach area. Margaritas margaritas margaritas!!!

Jason R.

Yelp
Love the soggy peso. Painkillers are delicious and tacos are great. Owner is an American Expat and there are lots of Americans frequenting the establishment. They have a couple of hotel rooms on the property but we have never stayed there.

Dainya B.

Yelp
We always stop here everytime we come to the island, about every 6 months. Great laid back island bar. Prices are good. They always have a special food item of the day and last time it was lobster tacos. Even my picky eater husband really enjoyed them. I finally ordered one of their famous maragritas and it was good. Reminded me exactly of one back home that is a special recipe. But fair warning they are strong and I mean strong. Sneaky strong but i love it. See you again in may

Cris L.

Yelp
These margaritas were STRONG! very good drinks. the location is gorgeous, right on the water on a beach. Makes for a great place to watch the sunset

Allison T.

Yelp
Had a wonderful stop at Soggy Peso! The kitchen did not open until 1:00 on the day we were there and we were searching for lunch, but we stayed and had a drink. Hands down the best drinks we had on the island! The Pain Killer and Margarita were top notch and I will definitely stop again for a drink next time on the island! Nice stop and great owner who was very cordial and gave us a little history of his place. Great little spot with a small sandy beach and pier to unwind for the day :)

Gabbie D.

Yelp
Stopped by on our trip to Isla Mujeres. Such a fun vibe. The service was great. It was pretty pricy and the portions are not that big. So I would definitely order an appetizer along with your meal. I suggest getting the lobster tacos. I still dream about them! The bathrooms are somewhat clean but they are tiny! The drinks were yummy are average price. What a cool place though!!!

Robert L.

Yelp
Came upon this place due to positive Yelp reviews. On the day we arrived it appeared they were only interested in serving their bar menu, limited to their tacos. Didn't notice their extensive seafood menu till after looking deeper into the reviews. Our kids enjoyed the roaming iguanas and picturesque dock. Food was good.

Bayli E.

Yelp
Such a good time here! Definitely recommend stopping by! be careful of the margaritas!!

Maureen H.

Yelp
Meh, I had read about this place and was really excited about going here. We made it around 11am and you could tell the bartender was super annoyed we were there. We had a drink and left, the margaritas were strong and almost too much.

Shelly H.

Yelp
Food and drinks are amazing at soggy peso We wish one could open up here in Detroit It's the best hidden gem on the island

Connie I.

Yelp
One of the many awesome dive bars on the island! We usually visit the Soggy Peso multiple times while on the island. My drink of choice is the Painkiller. Lobster Tacos and Hamburger in Paradise are the best days to visit.

Ruby D.

Yelp
We came here this time last year and had fun. This year we could barely get a drink and was reprimanded by the owner rudely for jumping in the pool. She didn't want water on the ground??? The staff seemed less happy and fun and felt like a big downer compared to previous years. We were also reprimanded for taking an extra chair from they able next to us for a friend to join us at ours. Wtf!?!?

Erica V.

Yelp
This place is shady af. I fee like they make the prices up as they go along. Not very friendly. Expensive drinks. Crappy jimmy buffett playing above. Just a dingy dump. Not much to say beyond that.

Renee W.

Yelp
Entertaining to say the least; we walked from our rental (about 1/2 mile) to the Soggy Peso for lunch on a Friday. The special was crispy tacos; 3 to an order and CHEAP for lunch! The place was packed and it definitely took a fair amount of time for 2 orders of tacos. Not the best service, which is fine, because I realize that we are on island time but when beers run out and you're thirsty....andele!

Mark S.

Yelp
Amazing daily food specials! Wing Wednesday is the best with very meaty and tender grilled wings. The best wings on all of Isla Mujeres. Drinks are very strong and delicious, margarita and the painkiller are some of the top sellers.

Michael B.

Yelp
The Soggy Peso es muy bueno! Out of the 5 nights we stayed on Isla at an all-inclusive resort we found ourselves at the Soggy Peso every day paying for food and drinks instead of enjoying the all-inclusive; mainly because the Soggy Peso is just that good! The Soggy Peso staff (Danny, Freddy, etc) and owners (Mal & Sally) were super nice and super fun to hang out with. It was a constant party with them every time we were there. They made sure that the margaritas stayed full and the beer kept flowing; all while making you feel comfortable and at home. There is almost hippy vibe with a little Jimmy Buffett thrown in kind of feel here. When we arrived on the island on Sunday we had heard that Soggy Peso had great ribs on Sundays, so we decided to drop in and give them a try. These ribs were not great, but AWESOME! They fell off the bone; and were great with the sausage and smoked chicken. We also each drink 2 of their awesome margaritas which are not only tasty, but super strong. They only allow you to have 2, because that is all you need. Afterwards we stumbled back into town and to our hotel all smiles. The next day we knew we had to go back and have more drinks and food at the Soggy Peso; ending with the same result of stumbling back to our hotel room. Then the following day of course we went back, but this was Cinco de Mayo! Best Cinco ever! We went to the bar, grabbed a stool, and held on for dear life! There were tequila shots, margaritas, live music, and the most fun you can pack into a tiny space ever; even Sally the owner came down with unending jello shots. We barely made it back to the hotel this night. The next night we decided to skip the Soggy Peso and chill; after all Cinco was way too much fun and we needed to recover. But the following night and our last night we made our way back to the Soggy Peso and we almost cried knowing that our trip was about to come to an end and it would be our last night there. We did enjoy a delicious "Cheeseburger in Paradise" that night with our margaritas. Until the fall Soggy Peso! We look forward to seeing you again!

Jennifer F.

Yelp
Margaritas are killer ;) and the food is pretty good. There is extended seating down by the water, sunsets are great

Julie A.

Yelp
Super cool island vibe with awesome drinks and food. Can't come to Isla without stopping in for their world famous margarita. Be careful they pack a punch!!

Sara E.

Yelp
SUCH A HIDDEN GEM. It's located behind another business and right on the water. Iguanas are frequently lunch partners, and the staff is so fun! The decor is totally from all the visitors and I just wish we hadn't discovered this place on the last day. GO HERE!! Oh and the margs are strong AF

Sean D.

Yelp
Going to the soggy peso is like going over to a friends house but it's a bar on the beach It's definitely kinda divey, I the food in my opinion is one of the best on the island, definitely top five for sure.

Sean C.

Yelp
We came here on a weekday afternoon and had a great time at the circular bar. The fajitas special was excellent as well as the drinks and company. I will definitely return

Nicole D.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite place on the island. Expect a friendly welcome and a very laid back bar where you can just have some drinks and make some new friends. I recommend getting the "pain killer" to help carry your worries away while enjoying the view.

Victoria Q.

Yelp
Went to this bar yesterday and we have to say we loved it! We got the margarita because we heard they made the best ones and they did not disappoint! They were the strongest we've ever had and only for 100 pesos! All of the staff was very nice and welcoming. It looks like you can stay there as well which would be cool! Definitely going back here! It needs to be on your bucket list while your there! :)
