We were a party of Eleven from Hong Kong for a big family holiday. Sol Melia Phu Quoc is a wonderful resort. Not too big not too small with about 280 rooms I think. The moment we checked in, we were greeted with friendly smiley staff in the reception in particular Huyen one of the supervisors who was just wonderful. Special thanks to Huyen, Kim, Trong Anh. Snow was also very helpful with the taxi arrangements and restaurant recommendations. ||||In terms of demographics, naturally there were more Asians than westerners. Because Phu Quoc is popular with Koreans, there are quite a lot of Korean restaurants in the new and old towns which was nice. Now many Asians don’t like sunbathing as they like to look after their skin, that means the pool was virtually empty even when the hotel was busy. That’s perfect for us British born Asians as we literally slap on factor 50 sun cream and off we go. So basically there’s no rush to catch or reserve pool side sun beds unlike the craziness of European resorts. ||||The beach was beautiful and is literally a short walk from the pool with lovely golden sand. Location of the resort was perfect as it was in the middle located between the old and new towns and a short taxi ride to both and to Sunset City etc. The Old town was my favourite with local excellent eateries, night markets and independent spas. Everything was very reasonable and affordable. The resort is only a 10 min ride from the airport but surprisingly, we did not hear any plans flying by.||||Rooms were perfect and very decent size. Very reasonable too for the standard. You really don’t have to stay at the InterContinental or the Regency as they are a lot more expensive. We went for bed and breakfast option as we wanted to eat out every night. Breakfast was amazing with a lot of variety. For lunch, you can just go outside or download the Grab App and order take out from local restaurants. ||||A wonderful resort with very attentive and lovely staff from House keeping, Reception, garden maintenance team to those keeping the beach clean. People in Phu Quoc are just generally really nice people. Check it out! ||||Thank you Sol team for looking after us!
