A Complete Guide to Olympic National Park

"The best place to go for a hot spring session. The source of the spring water comes from rain and melting snow, and is directed into four spa pools ranging from 50 degrees Fahrenheit to 104. Guests staying at the resort get access, or you can book a 90-minute session in advance. The springs close during the winter."

This is a lovely property, with a lot of potential. The cabins could use a few creature comforts, especially for the price. If you think the kitchen is "well equipped" you're in for a sad surprise. Bring whatever you might need. We needed our own cookware, and ended up needing to buy plates and bowls. There isn't so much as salt and pepper either. The sheets on the bed are a nightmare, a flat sheet over mattress and another flat sheet, comforter, flat sheet. Heaven forbid you move in the night. There isn't enough seating in the cabins for the allowed guests. There's no hooks, in the cabins or in the resort locker rooms. The cabins without kitchens have no microwave, no mini fridge, not even an extra roll of toilet paper. It seems like, for the price, a few little things could go a long long way. There's also chiggers around, you do well to wear boots and socks! The staff was nice, the pools need some repair but they're serviceable. The setting is gorgeous. Can't beat the views!

My husband and I paid for access to the hot spring but we didn’t stay in any of the rooms, so my experience is only about the pools, bathrooms, and service. Heidi the desk attendant was amazing! ❤️ She answered my husband’s [numerous] questions and even used the computer to help look up some information about other campgrounds in the park! She also knew exactly what bird we described hearing in the mornings and showed us pictures, and was helpful when it came to the hikes and site seeing all around the peninsula. We didn’t get our RV spot receipt the first day because she was giving us the spiel about how the hot springs works, putting our bracelets on, etc. But the ranger was nice and didn’t kick us out. Some minor issues we had: 1. The convenience store part of the lobby doesn’t have any contact solution, I had to get some in forks. 2. Some of the showers didn’t work/ didn’t have hot water The other reviews that say there’s stuff floating in the water/ it’s murky are correct. It is also crowded after peak season (we visited in the very last week of hot spring access), there were still tons of people in the hottest pool. There was more space in the larger pool, but that’s where all the kids are, so pick your poison. Sitting is also pretty pokey and uncomfortable. But Heidi told us they are having the pools resurfaced after just a year because they are chipping and not holding up well. So maybe they’ll fix the water problem for next season while they’re at it 🤷‍♀️

We visit here once a year. The restaurant was in full operation and had some great options. The pool area was clean and in good repair. |The store in the lodge has nice options for souvenirs. |The cabins are getting rough in places - worn furniture, electrical plug not working. And- the swings are gone.

Loved spending time on these trail heads, then when we were finished we got to go to the hot springs and soak in the pools. The hottest pool was definitely the favorite of everyone there, so you had to wait for a spot to open up, but the other pools were spacious enough to sit around and relax or move around. I highly recommend adding this to your trip!

Google
The cabin we had was very cute. It was rustic but had everything we needed. Very nice bathroom with lots of water pressure. The beds were super comfortable. The best thing about staying here is that you can come and go from the hot springs without having to drive anywhere. And you can get in first thing in the morning before the crowds arrive. It's a bit of a drive from anywhere so if you want to enjoy the springs it's great to stay there. The restaurant was a little pricey and the ambience is blah - but there was a good selection on the menu an the food was good. There is also a little store where you can buy all kinds of food to have in your room. The lodging is a bit pricey as well, but it does give you access to the springs so it was worth it.

Google
I was only there for the pools. I felt like 18 dollars for 90 min plus 5 dollars for towel was a bit much however 90 min was the perfect amount of time in the pools. It was a bit crowded on a Saturday night in September but not overwhelmingly so. I wish the changing rooms had body wash. Changing rooms a bit crowded but clean and served their purpose. Pool area is nice, cute. Three pools with varying degrees of warmth

We were at the hot springs last year, after not having gone for years. Last year was a good experience. This year we found the water to be murky with floating debris. Elbow to elbow people. The dressing room is dirty, slippery, and wet. This was our fourth hot spring this summer, so much to compare to. A squeegee of the dressing rooms in between groups, and a skimming of the pool would make a world of difference. We will not be back.

Google
Pools were great temps (103, 105 and 66). I liked trying out the cold pool and going to the hot one. It could be cleaner in the pools. Tree and outdoor debris make it into the pools. They do have a slight sulfur smell that you get used to. It was $19ish for 1.5 hours of pool time. Great location as it’s in the park. I checked the falls out after my dip.

Yelp
I didn't stay overnight here, but did spend a considerable amount of time in the area. I stopped by here to do the nearby hike to Sol Duc Falls. Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort is located in a valley inside Olympic National Park. Here you can rent a cabin and enjoy the beautiful scenery around you. There are tall evergreens all around this valley At the resort is one freshwater pool and three 100°F mineral hot spring soaking pools. The spring water comes from melting snow and rain. Water seeps through cracks in the sedimentary rocks where it mixes with gasses coming from cooling volcanic rocks. Then the mineralized spring waters rise to the surface through some cracks to create these pools. I was able to walk around and check out the mineral pools. A hour and a half session will run you about $18. Also here at the resort is a restaurant, gift shop and convenience store.

Yelp
I did not stay the night but just stopped in for a visit. They have a small lobby with a gift shop. There is information on the hot springs and a restaurant that overlooks the area. The parking lot is small and probably fills up very quickly in the summer time.

Yelp
We stayed at the resort for one night to satisfy our relaxation day in the middle of a week of extreme hiking. While there we experience a King cabin without a kitchen, the hot springs, and the restaurant. Overall, as an average, i would give the property a 3 star rating. The resort and cabin...The resort is cute and reminded me of a log cabin in the middle of the woods. The gift shop was small with limited choices. The grocery area had everything you could need (for a price). While there were 2 register areas only one of them was opened and only staffed by one person. While trying to check in he was constantly flipping back and forth between check in and purchases causing us to miss our first session in the pools. The cabin was a decent size with a cute front porch to sit on and enjoy the rolling forest cover hills around you. It was extremely clean, cleaner then some hotels I have stayed in! The the surrounding grounds were clean and well kept. My only complaint would be the limited counter space, but it is a cabin. The hot springs looked like normal pool, but sure did not smell or feel like a normal pool. Be aware you'll be leaving smelling of sulfur, kind of like you bathed in it LOL! There are 3 pools boosting different temperatures. Do you research and know this ahead of time because the staff will not fill you in and you want to maximize the benefits. There is also a regular, unheated, swimming pool. Some people swam, but overall most used it to cool off. Sessions last 90 minutes and the pools are closed for 30 minutes between sessions. We had time for 2 sessions and in-between we hoped over to the restaurant for dinner. We sat on the patio outside for an early dinner. The meals are overpriced for the plate that lands in front of you. I kept telling myself I was paying for convivence. I had the salmon which was flaky and wonderful. The sauce could have used a touch more seasoning. My boyfriend has the steak which was terrible. He ate 1/4 of the steak and couldn't stomach it any longer. It was chewy and incorrectly cooked to well done when he requested medium rare.

Yelp
It's tough to review this resort overall, because I'd like to give 4 stars to the resort itself, 3 stars to the restaurant, and 3 stars to the hot springs experience. So I guess 3.5 stars if it's all grouped together. We stayed in one of the cabins, which was quaint but clean and comfy. They have cute little front porches. The staff at the main resort building were very friendly. No Wi-Fi or cell service here, but we enjoyed that. It felt remote despite the summertime crowds. The only problem in the cabin was that the shower water was burning hot (like, seemingly unsafe scalding temp) and we couldn't figure out how to change the temp...but maybe we were just idiots and that was just our fault, hehe! The resort restaurants food was delicious, but it was pricey. I'm really glad my husband and i decided to share and split some things. We shared the clam chowder, the burger, and a salad. And they were understaffed -they only had two servers while we were there who were also serving as hostesses, so the line of people waiting to be seated would stretch all the way through the gift shop while tables sat empty. The hot springs pools themselves are okay. They look like regular swimming pools, but at least you are surrounded by pretty trees and hills so you can look up and pretend you're in nature still. There's four different pool options including a large cool pool, a shallow wading pool, and two warm pools. They close for a 30 minute safety check to check bacteria and mineral levels and such between sessions, which is good to know. If you've never been to a hot springs before, just be warned that the sulfur smell is pretty strong here. It was slightly crowded when we soaked, and it was the last hour of the day that the pools were open...maybe they look cleaner earlier in the day, but I made the mistake of looking at the water too much while soaking in the warm tubs...everything I saw floating around made me feel kinda gross so I spent most of the rest of my time just swimming and floating in the big cool pool. They have showers there for before and after your soak, definitely use those please!!!!! I'm not sure if hot springs are my favorite thing...but these were alright. If you do stay here, definitely do the Ancient Groves trail hike and the Sol Duc Falls trail hike!

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it. Our cabin was clean, comfortable, and spacious. The hot springs are included for anyone staying in the cabins and you get unlimited use and 1 extra towel per person for each day you're there. The store has lots of fun gift options and some pre-packaged snacks and such. They also have a restaurant at the lodge which did have vegetarian options as well as 1-2 meal options for other dietary needs beyond a salad. The food was pretty good for the size and resources available. The staff were kind and friendly. They gave me lots of tips for hikes and even printed me some directions since there was no signal. There aren't TVs and there's no signal or WiFi so come prepared to be offline for anything you're doing with way finding or entertainment.

Yelp
Didn't stay at the resort, but After a long hike, it was so nice to take a dip into the hot springs. You have to go in person to buy your reservations 1.5 hours time slots. $18 for an adult. The sulfur smell is a bit strong, however you get used to it. There was 4 different pools, one kid pool, one temp of 104, one temp of 106, and the main pool was 64F. Felt great to do some thermal shocks. Nice and relaxing. Wasn't too crowded. We all had enough space to spread out. There is a lot of space to place things whether that be in the locker room and on the hooks right outside the pool area.

Yelp
We came for some hot spring soaking while the leaves were turning colors in the Pacific Northwest. It's always a mystery to me as to why more people do not enjoy hot springs, and why don't we have more facilities in the NW, but that's a conversation for another day. Prior to our visit, I was a bit concerned about the EV charging as I now own an EV. I can tell you now that there's no problem with it, as there are plenty of fast charging stations along I-5. Sol Doc also has two of its own free, level 2 chargers. In fact, we quickly realized EV charging was the least of our concerns. The things we were not prepared for were: food, wardrobe, and cell reception. We stayed at the Sol Doc Hot Springs Resort, which is inside of Olympic National Park, and a bit far from civilization. So that means either you have to drive 30 minutes to a nearby town for food, eat at the onsite restaurant, or bring your own food to cook. The onsite restaurant is small but mighty. The servers were friendly and the food was surprisingly decent. However, we quickly realized the cost was adding up, and we didn't need to eat a huge portion for every meal. That's the moment we wished we brought some bread and fresh fruit for breakfast or snacks. Also, it could be a competition to get seated as there are more visitors than tables; we had to wait a bit for our food at times. The hot spring pools were nice. There was some debris in the pool but that's what happens when it's situated in a natural setting, and it didn't bother me. They were open during different time slots throughout the day so we have to plan accordingly. There are 4 pools including 3 circular pools for hot springs soaking, and 1 big square pool for swimming. I personally like the big circle pool as it's the perfect temperature for me. If you want slightly hotter/colder temperatures, there are two other pools for your liking. There are also onsite showers that are very convenient for visitors as well. We saw some seasoned visitors come with iced beverages and bath robes, and I thought that was just brilliant (especially if you are staying in the cabins). That way you can walk back to your room leisurely without trying to wash, dry and squeeze yourself back into your clothes while your skin is still hot and wet. The last thing and the most bothersome thing was the lack of wifi and cell reception. You will get NO reception there, which we were not aware of. Normally I don't really care about it, as I am an internet hermit myself. However... when my mom couldn't find me that night and left 11 messages, it created chaos and needlessly to say things can escalate quickly! Also the inability to access Google Maps was a bit scary. It's a great place to force people to return to nature (and live like we did pre-1999). In the good old times, we simply lived our lives without the (interruption of) internet and social media. I just wish we knew about it before coming so we could inform our families and download the maps beforehand. Another puzzling thing was the temperature of the cabin. Our cabin was so hot, it reminded us of the Turkish hammam. For a while we thought we were dying in the desert, it's THAT hot. Since you can't adjust the temperature (the switch was a decoration apparently), we ended up opening the window the entire night. The room was clean when we were there, so no complain about that. Overall, I did enjoy the stay at Sol Duc. If I am to return, however, I will know what to bring and what to expect which will make my experience much better. Overall, I would recommend Sol Doc to anyone who loves nature and hot springs.

Yelp
Our experience was only with the resort restaurant, as we walked in for breakfast and dinner while staying at the campground. The restaurant is small, as is the menu, pricing I found a bit high. Dinner service was friendly, fast, and attentive. We ordered the elk burger (which my husband enjoyed a lot) and the fish & chips with side salad (both fabulous). Breakfast wasn't nearly as good an experience. While the food was good, the service we received was appalling. I had to remind our server of the coffee I'd ordered, and then flag her down later to request a refill. We were never checked in on again after our food arrived, and actually ended up waiting at least 10-15 minutes once finished until we were able to get the servers attention and our check. And they were not overly busy, so it was just this particular server I assume as the other server was at her tables constantly. Good food, hit or miss service.

Yelp
Stayed overnight at the RV park on our way around the PNW. Giving a 4/5 because the grounds at the RV park were very muddy and could use more gravel/upkeep. Otherwise the grounds are incredible with all the old growth, mossy trees, and well maintained pathways and trails. We decided to hike to the waterfall and were told it was a short walk to the trailhead from the resort. Well, it's about a 30 minute walk and wish we would've driven, especially since it started snowing on us halfway up. The overall hike took us almost two hours - it was really very beautiful. After our hike we had reservations for the 6-7:30 PM hot springs so headed over there. It was quite a cold walk over and back from the RV lot, but was expected. The hot springs were lovely. The temperatures of the two hotter pools were similar and the coolest one was barely warm and maybe 1 foot deep - definitely for the kiddos. Didn't jump in the pool as it was too cold. It snowed on us while we sat on the hot springs, which was just epic. Enjoyed every little moment. Locker rooms are very slippery! Be careful. No issue with the lockers not having locks - everyone left their stuff and I heard no complaints about theft. Nice not to worry so much about that TBH. Swimsuit spinner did not work. Had dinner afterwards, and thought the food was good. Had the goat cheese flatbread, salmon, and chicken strips. The salmon was overcooked but everything else was very good. The lavender lemonade is so yummy. Overall beautiful gem in the mountains surrounded by nature. Enjoyed our stay!

Yelp
The Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort is situated by the Sol Duc River in Olympic National Park. Whether you stay here or not, you can still come and take advantage of their hot springs. The admission prices were (as of June 2023): - under 4: free - 4 to 11: $12 - 12 to 62: $18 - 62+: $12 - military: $12 - cabin guests: complimentary Their hot spring start times are every even hour (so 8am, 10am, 12pm, ..., 8pm) and last 1.5 hours. They do not allow reservations so we arrived 15 minutes before our desired time to buy tickets and give ourselves time to change. They had towel rentals for $5 so I highly recommend bringing your own towels to save on that charge. There were three mineral hot springs at the resort along with a swimming pool but unfortunately the pool was temporarily closed. Each of the hot springs was at least 105 degrees and had varying levels of depth. The staff recommended we bring water bottles inside because it could get very hot, and it was doubly beneficial because the sun was beaming down on us. There was no shade so it was almost unbearably hot. There was a restaurant on premise to eat and a shop inside selling souvenir items. We enjoyed our time but we only stayed in the springs for about an hour because we thought it was more than enough. The showers were pretty clean and there were lockers to store our stuff too.

Yelp
A grouping of several hot spring pools contained in concrete pools. Sol Duc sits in a very special place, the Olympic National Forest so if you love nature, adventure, and need a moment to rejuvenate your body after a day of hiking or a long day at work, then this is the place for you. Warning- don't expect to be impressed with the facility. It is basic compared to other USA hot springs. Sorry I don't have pictures! The facility is not fancy, not overbuilt, and is fairly average when compared to other hot springs. It is obvious that they do not put a ton of money (profits) put back into maintenance or amenities. BUT it is adequate and affordable for the 2024 budgets and so long as you are prepared to not be impressed, it does the job. Mineral Pool Usage-Limited to 1.5 hours. There is a limit as to how long you can use the facility. Make sure you are on time and ready to go. Pool Area: Basic and not meant for lounging outside of the pools. So get in those pools and SOAK. Swimsuit machine (the machine that squeezes out the excess water from our swimsuits. - Patrons will see a sign in the wall telling you how to use it, but guess what, it isn't there! Maybe the owners could invest in putting one of two of these in and maintaining them. Showers and Locker Room Yuck. Body hair is trapped in the rubber non-skid floor mats in the shower. No shampoo or body soap dispensers, no towel hooks, NOTHING. No locks on the locker room doors. Not a big deal, but be aware. Only a few benches along the wall which makes sense due to the size of locker room being small. Bring flip flops to avoid athletes feet, the floor is concerning, Recommendation: clean these areas after each group uses the mineral pools.

Yelp
RV parking area was overcrowded and lacked bathrooms. It was basically a huge parking lot with no privacy, and it was a huge disappointment. While having an RV provides a toilet, it's still inconvenient not to have restroom facilities nearby. The hookups for water and electricity were available, but overall, it seems the parking lot fell short of our expectations. Sure, it was a close walk to the hot springs. Let's talk about the hot springs. The hot springs themselves were okay, but cleanliness was lacking. The locker room was gross to say the least. They didn't even have soap in the showers to rinse off properly after soaking in the hot springs. Overcrowding might have contributed to this. Despite the shortcomings, soaking in the hot springs was still enjoyable. The transition from the hot springs to the cold pool was a nice touch. The $18 plus tax admission fee wasn't justified for the experience since you could only stay 1.5 hours. You should be able to come and go all day. The cabin prices were steep at $300 per night, and didn't find them worthwhile, so we went with the RV spot for $128 for two nights. I'm still trying to figure out what we paid for. The falls and the river stood out as highlights of our trip! The falls were beautiful, and it was nice to be out in nature despite the camping situation. It's essential to remember that Sol Duc Hot Springs is located in the national forest, and there's a $30 entrance fee. Overall, the natural surroundings made a more significant impression than the amenities. If you're thinking of visiting and camping stay in Loop B if you don't need hook ups. This is where the secluded camping is!

Yelp
They have 2 hot spring spas and they are nice. Lots of people though so definitely not as relaxing as it can be. We were also surprised how expensive it is to just go in the spas. Although the scenery is beautiful and makes up for everything. We hiked the Sul Duc Falls right before we went in so it was a perfect way to end the day.

Yelp
Very friendly and helpful staff! Also, waitstaff and owners were excellent and friendly, willing to even try something new when I asked for my eggs, "basted". Kudos for that!! Restaurant menu is limited, but what they serve is decent. They are not looking to get any Michelin stars and most of the entrees are fried or served with fries. A couple easy tweaks to the menu would do them well.

Yelp
We stayed one night. It was pretty expensive for the experience; I think I'd recommend getting a one-session pass for the hot springs rather than staying there. Pros: it's in a gorgeous location in a small valley with beautiful hikes all around. The hot springs are clean; the facilities to use the hot springs were generally clean & definitely up to date. The little cabin we stayed in was clean. Cons: the cabin we were in was LITTLE. Barely enough room for the 2 queen beds the four of us were sharing. It is not disclosed anywhere that there's no wifi or even a 5G signal. Maybe some people prefer that, but I have a disabled spouse I need to check on every night & all they could offer - rather rudely - was a payphone. There's a restaurant there but it has ridiculously limited hours. The last session in the hot springs ends at 7:30; the restaurant stops seating at EXACTLY 8pm. We walked in at 8:01 & they wouldn't seat us. The "grab-and-go" section was woefully stocked. We had ramen, yogurt, & chips for dinner. There's no warning on the site that *maybe* you should bring your own goods. For $329 a night, it wasn't worth it. We could have done the 1 session with the springs for $25 each & stayed in Forks & been happier.

Yelp
For a resort this place wasn't maintained well. The family bathrooms smelled like a urinal. We purchased the pricey tickets for the hot springs. I was very unhappy they didn't have privacy to undress or for showering. If you're going to charge $18 (no towels) then at least have privacy. I've been to other hot springs places and their prices are usually $7-9. We didn't have a reserve a certain time frame either. I love to leave great reviews so this is very disappointing for me.

Yelp
I had a really positive experience. The staff was super friendly and the room was clean, well-kept, plenty of hot water, and most importantly SUPER warm at night. I've never experienced quiet like the night I slept there. They were also very accommodating to us when the Olympic Peninsula was not being cooperative. For example, there was inclement weather and a mountain lion on the loose, which complicated our hiking plans, so the staff let us leave a day early without penalty. We got there a handful of days before they shut down for the season and the staff were still very happy to feed us during the last 20 minutes the kitchen was open. The Tripadvisor reviews are brutal, they left me with low expectations going in, but I have absolutely nothing to complain about. Would be happy to stay there again! It's very easy to get to Sol Duc falls from there and it's kind of midway between Rialto Beach and Hall of Mosses. That alone is worth it.

Yelp
Made a camp site reservation (the Sol Duc campground is maintained by the Resort) over a month ago when campgrounds open up on the recreation.gov website. Just got an email sending me a refund for the site - leaving my friend and I short a campsite for a night two weeks before our trip. That's beyond unacceptable.

Yelp
This review is mostly for the restaurant at the Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort. We stayed at the nearby Olympic NP campground, on Loop B, which was stunning... total enchanted forest. Loop A is the same. For a break from camp food, we went one night for dinner to the Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort restaurant. Overall, we were disappointed. The service was slow, but I don't fault the waitstaff because they were really busting their butts. Management needs to hire more waitstaff. The two ladies there were doing their best under lousy conditions. Another problem... we could BARELY read the menus. They looked like they had been printed with an ink-jet printer that was running out of ink. The adults' menu was very limited: for dinner there were a couple of salads (descriptions indecipherable), a cheeseburger, an elk burger, fish and chips, and some side options that were also indecipherable. My husband ordered the cheeseburger, for $16. He said it was good, but it's hard to mess up a cheeseburger. I ordered the fish and chips, for $23... it was not great. It tasted like a soggy Van de Camps breaded fish filet. Also, they had no chips (i.e. fries), so the waitress apologetically offered us house salads, which turned out to be good, but it's also hard to mess up a house salad. There was no dressing choice... you just got vinaigrette. We asked for diet colas with our dinner. They weren't listed on the menu, or maybe they were in the unreadable sections at the bottom, but we were shocked at their price ($5.50) given they came in water goblets that were mostly filled with ice. The table water they served us was, ironically, NOT filled with ice and very much room temperature. Side note: there are 2 restrooms available for diners at the restaurant. When we were there, neither had paper products of any kind: no TP, no seat protectors, no paper towels. That's just gross. We were contemplating going for a soak in the hotsprings but after spending dinner observing the "people soup" outside the restaurant window, we decided there was no way we wanted to shell out $18 each to sit shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of strangers, simmering in water of questionable cleanliness. I'd definitely go back to the campground. I wouldn't ever bother going back to the resort. Aramark runs the resort, as well as many (perhaps all?) the U.S. National Park concessions. They are notorious for ripping you off. Everything they touch is substandard and overpriced. It's dismaying to see how they use the National Parks to make billions off visitors who just have to accept the crappy service.

Yelp
Disappointed to say the least! Had such excitement to come here and it was the worst! Cabin Was just gross, dirty, I'm pretty sure who every they have cleaning should be fired. but the worst part was the worker power washing the tables outside our cabin, asked if could possibly do it another time, was told he was almost done.... 2hrs later went to the front desk cuz now the gas fumes are in the cabin, was Told he would be 40 more mins. This place was way to $$$ to have all this going on. Left went to other hotel. Hot Springs aren't worth the Hot Mess this place is!!

I enjoyed my time here but it was not an experience I'd recommend over doing other things in the park. If you've been to a nice hot springs or spa before, I recommend skipping the experience. The changing rooms could have been cleaner and lockers didn't have locks (so we took our valuables with us). Place was crowded and didn't really allow for much relaxation. Definitely overhyped and not worth the time when in such a beautiful natural setting.

Yelp
On a quick trip to the Forks and passing by the entrance to Sol Duc I said why not motor in for quick soak. A very pretty drive in and enjoyed looking at the river and especially the salmon leap pullout and display Got to the resort and springs and staff person greeted me and gave me a nice quick tour Of course I forgot my suit and had to buy one in the store. Got a medium but it turned out a child's medium but I was barely able to squeeze in so all set Pools were nice and clean and really thought they were pretty unique and special. Tried the swim pool but at 68 degrees and coming from 104 water I just could not quite cut it Stayed about an hour and a half with breaks and that was more than enough time. As I was leaving about noon time lots of people were arriving so my timing was perfect Parking was great and right in front I was soon on the road to the Forks. About 30 miles down the road I realized I forgot my jacket and hat in the locker in the changing room so an hour and half wasted on my long day running back to get them The NP Ranger who checked me in at he gate was newly minted and just a month on the job with her first assignment and very proud and happy to be where she was at Seeing my Minnesota plates she asked where from and she too was from a town an hour away and had raced at my Nordic Ski Resort on her high school Nordic team when we hosted high school racing events The joys of small world and travel If in Olympic NP area and even for a short road trip from Seattle a jaunt over to Sol Duc is well worth it Jim at Maplelag in Minnesota

Yelp
This is a review of only the restaurant... it's not very good... Hindsight being 20/20 we should have packed our lunch in and just gotten a nice drink, bag of chips, and ice cream treat from the resort rather than eat here. There is no table service, you order at a counter w/ a very uninterested fellow who hands you a number and says no words. We figured out we could eat outside as well as inside so found our way to the dirtiest tables I've ever encountered. I get it... the tables were outside, but they were smeared w/ condiments, full of crumbs, and wobbly as could be. The food was poor too... a cheeseburger (greasy, not fresh) w/ potato chips (the only positive) for my husband and the forest salad for me (the greens were huge and mostly the coarse leafy stuff, some cranberries, walnuts that may or may not have been candied and clumps of goat cheese, virtually no dressing in a side cup).

Yelp
Restaurant review: You don't need to stay in the lodge to eat here! As of June 2021, all food is "to go." However, there are plenty of tables right outside and its a beautiful setting. You'll want to drive from the campsites, esp if you're in Loop B. There was already a line around 7:45am. BREAKFAST: The applewood bacon and the pancakes were our favorite items. The drip coffee is standard hotel coffee, but BIG (one size only, think venti). They even had siracha packets! It was SO nice to have the option to not cook; it truly made camping feel like a flexible vacation - all the way out in the Olympics.

Yelp
I was concerned based on the reviews that I had read. I was pleasantly surprised. It is a pretty basic cabin (heat didn't work real well). It was a rustic cabin so if you are thinking a fancy resort it is not. Our room was clean. The hot springs were very busy but there was room for everyone. The pools are not labeled real well so we were not sure what each of the pools were. You only get to be in the pool for 1.5 hours and then everyone has to leave. If you stay in the cabins you can go to any or all of the sessions. If you go don't expect that you will be at some fancy resort.

Yelp
I left this place in tears. I was in line to buy a Gatorade as we were hiking to pass time before our appointment at the hot springs. I went 6 minutes without even being addressed, asked if I needed help, or even acknowledged. I am the only black person in the room but didn't think that I was being ignored on purpose since there was an older man that needed help. However, as soon as a group of white men arrived and got in line a woman came out from the back and helped them right away. When I stated that I've been waiting, I was told I should have been in the right line. The kicker is that I was laughed at by the other group. No one said anything, no one did anything. I cried so hard. I've never experienced something so awful in my life. This place allows their employees to ignore black customers and the worst part is that I was here for a bachelorette party. Even now I'm so upset. I'm so livid. I am so angry. Edit: It's been a month and no one even contacted me. An "I'm sorry" would have worked wonders.

Yelp
As a family who lodged, dined, and splashed at the Sol Due Hot Springs Resort--"Resort"--we have plenty to say about this establishment. Let's break it down by category. Lodging: we stayed in a "non-kitchen" cabin for TWO HUNDRED FIFTY dollars a night. It was cold, dirty, and the hot water worked for approximately five whole minutes with barely any water pressure. When we asked for an extra blanket and space heater to be sent to the room, we never got the latter and the former showed up with holes. Yes! Literal, massive holes in a blanket. Listen, if this place was $100 a night, we wouldn't complain, but you're a captive in the park, so they get away with this price gauging. Dining: We ate breakfast here twice, and we have to say that it wasn't half bad, which is the only reason that we're landing on two stars instead of one. There is a single soul manning the whole operation, and she was a young lady who managed to hold down the fort pretty well considering some of the wildlings that she had to deal with. Coffee isn't horrible, and we enjoyed our meals. Our daughter had the pancakes both times, and the portion was not only sizable but you could tell that they were fresh and homemade. One of us also got the "build your own" omelet ($20) with bacon, mushroom, cheddar, and spinach both times, and it was also really good! You get a side of actual fresh fruit. So, overall, re. breakfast: pricey, but worth it, and mostly pleasant. Here's what happened when we came for dinner: the one guy working couldn't handle all the tables, so we sat ourselves and waited patiently for him to come over. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. He did not acknowledge our existence--not even a "hey, be over in a minute!" It seemed vaguely deliberate, so we got up and left and bought some snacks and beer in the mart outside for dinner. So, overall, re. dinner: horrible experience, wouldn't even attempt it. Hot springs: the locker room area is mostly fine, but the springs themselves are really outdated. Part of the seating area material inside the pool was chipping off and floating around. Yes, it's nice to be in a hot soak after a long and cold day of hiking, but this place was crowded and loud, and if not for our daughter's sheer joy of the experience, it would have been a huge bummer for us. At least it was included in the cost of the cabin! It seems like if the right people took this place over, it could be rehabilitated, run well, and really fun and nice. We're campers and we know how to do rustic, but if you're charging European prices, then at least deliver SOMETHING worthwhile. Aramark runs the whole operation and it's very obvious that they do not give a flying hoot about value or quality.

Yelp
I will say... we were supposed to stay here and for some reason the owner emailed to tell us they overbooked and the room we booked was no longer available. Instead, he offered us a free visit to the hot springs because of the trouble and we opted to find another lodging option for the evening. We were annoyed at first, but in hindsight, we're thrilled it worked out this way. First, while we KNOW it smells awful at natural hot spring spots (we've been to Yellowstone and used to live 2 miles from a hot spring in Nevada), but it really was pungent. This was definitely not a no-odor location. Our daughter has a difficult time with smells, always has, and while she handled it like a champ, I'm not sure I'd like to smell that while I slept and dined. We lasted about 10 minutes tops in the hot spring. Glad we didn't pay! It was packed with people and the pool was basically deserted. The showers were clean (all things considered) and they provided us with towels. Very few people were masked while sitting in the hot spring. We have small kids who aren't vaccinated against COVID, so even if we loved the place, we wouldn't have stayed long. They have a gift shop for convenience items if you need them. Tips: - wear a mask - wear sandals to walk around and in the shower - use family rooms in the hallways to change together

Yelp
The hot springs themselves were nice. We went there twice. First in the evening session and then in the first morning session. The price is pretty fair and offer reduced pricing for children and military. The facility is well kept. Do NOT dine there. Just DONT! We ate here for dinner and the burgers were decent. Fries not so much. The tiramisu tasted fine but looked like they dropped it a few times then scoop it up and put in a sundae glass. Note to chef, manager...that's NOT how you serve tiramisu. The service we got in the morning was so bad. They don't know how to greet guests, no wait-list. No coffee for breakfast but offered to make us Americanos which turned out to be room temperature. So I ordered the a mimosa , big mistake because it tasted like Welch's grape juice. Gross. I cannot say anything about the breakfast since we left after watching a table of 4 who were sat 10 minutes after we placed our order come out woth

Yelp
There was no WiFi/internet connection!!! This is bad because it gets bored there, and some times someone get sick and they just lay bored, and they could use there phone because.

Yelp
Sol Duc Hot Springs is all about the location (located in Olympic National Park) and the Hot Springs. I don't consider it a high end resort (more like little cabins/glamping), so don't let having resort in the name fool you (set resort expectations). Regardless, I loved it! The hot springs are resort like though. I was here to hike, enjoy the hot springs, and national park. Plus I love to go glamping too, so it was a perfect trip. No wifi or cell reception which made me really unplug. Thank you for not having that as it was such a blessing. You don't need that when you are visiting a national park. Each morning I headed out to hike. Sol Duc Falls was breath taking. I went twice and each time there was a rainbow over the bridge. Unfortunately, I was here during a huge heat wave, so I couldn't do some of the more challenging hikes that I wanted to do. All the staff was wonderful and helpful. I appreciated them very much. Highly recommend staying here and will do so again. Don't come for fancy rooms (they aren't here), come to enjoy nature and the hot springs.

Yelp
This place is flirty! Dirty linen, spiderwebs, dark spots on bed sheet! Most important is that room 117 has fleas!!!!!! We all woke up with bites on our ankle. This place is so downgrade. Totally not worth $400 per night. Worst experience I have in my life!!!! Never ever would recommend this place.....Don't go!!!!!

Yelp
This is not for the hot springs per se because we never got there. We did not know there was a pay access on the road to the springs and we did not find anything to warn us. We tour on motorcycles and the fee per bike was $25 each. Yes that's right. $50 for two bikes when you can bring a loaded 15 passenger van for $30 which is still outrageous. The Ranger or whatever she was tried to make it better by saying it's a 7 day pass. Well we were only going to be there a few hours but there is no option for a day pass which is stupid. Given the amount of people wanting to go to the springs I would think there would be a day option or even hourly. I understand things are expensive these days but gouging your patrons should not be a priority. Would have been over $100 with the springs fees and the access fees so we skipped..... and will continue to skip forever.

Yelp
Yesterday was my second time at Sol Duc hot springs. It is a treat to soak in the mineral water after days of camping and road tripping. This area of the Olympic National Park is often chilly and rainy, so the warm water is a relaxing remedy. The "hot springs" is a man-made pool out in the back and has steps underwater to sit on. There is no cell phone service and no wi-fi here. I liked that we did not need to reserve in advance. The $18 sessions are 1.5 hours each. For me, 1.5 hours is a perfect amount of time in the springs. I felt the price was also super reasonable. However, I think towels should be included. According to their website, it costs $5 to rent one. The showers and bathrooms were clean. They had a small machine that you could wring out water from your towel and bathing suit. It had directions and was easy to use. I wish they had a lounge area to relax in beforehand if you come early to your session or to relax in after your session.

Yelp
The pricing for swimming is ridiculous. I grew up spending my summers here. Now that I have my own children, I wanted to introduce them to swimming. I loved having a kiddy pool available and having a lifeguard present. However, when all was said and done, I spent $100+ to swim for an hour and a half. And the lifeguard was more interested in his phone than paying attention to the pools. Driving all the way there and only being able to swim for such a short period was a waste of a trip. Locals don't have many options for activities, and this one in particular has been ruined by the pricing and time slots for swimming.

Yelp
Honestly just ok. Good way to cap off the day of exploring the national park but not as clean as I expected. Was also pretty crowded which I understand can be out of their control but perhaps they could lower the cap on people for each reservation? Only recommend the latest slot if you are staying in the park, as it gets really dark really fast.

Yelp
The hot springs were awesome. The lodging was fine. The food.....well the food was absolutely horrible. Can't recall ever having food that bad in my life. No joke, in my life. How do you mess up fish n chips and chowder? Batter was crisp on the outside and runny on the inside. The fish also tasted off. Fries and chowder had a heavy heavy dose of salt.

Yelp
We truly enjoyed our time at the resort. We didn't realize how remote it was! No cell or wifi available and no restaurants close by. It was nice to be off grid honestly. The hot-springs were lovely and you get to go as much as you want with the room. The rooms are actually little cabins. Very simple design but comfortable beds and clean. Also has a porch and resident deer who came to request snacks in the early morning. The room had a Keurig coffee maker with some pods. You can get ice at the lodge. Since our room did not have a kitchen we ate at the restaurant every meal. The menu was very limited but we really enjoyed what we had. The chef told us they will be expanding but it was the first week. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time!

Yelp
Prior to covid we would travel from the Olympia area to Sol Duc 3 or 4 times a year to relax in the hot springs and spend time around nice campfire. This year was the first time we had planned a trip since covid and went up there again, only this time it was a real waste of time and money. In the past we would pay around $15 and spend a whole day enjoying ourselves. Now you spend about the same amount for a 90 minute "session". One of the sessions was from 10am to 11:30. We rolled in about 10:10 and was told we would have to pay for a full session or wait until the next session at 12 noon. We took the current one and by the time we got changed and showered, we had less than an hour of soaking time. My wife and her friend both paid for a second session and I went out to the truck and took a nap. I asked one of the employees what the story was with the sessions and was told it was from the covid period and the owners found out they could make more money, so they kept the same program. We were going to spend two days there but only did a few hours of the one day we were there and left. We'll never go back again.

Yelp
We went camping in loop B, went on a hike with some friends and then we all headed over to the Sol Duc hot springs at the "Resort", which we do not recommend. There are 3 springs and a pool. The 3 springs are at different temperatures and the pool is very cold. The Hot Springs felt very good but the place is disgustingly filthy. You're required to shower before and after going into the hot springs but the locker rooms we horrendous. There were globs of wet, gooey hair in large piles all over the floor and around the drains and mud everywhere. The springs are full of hair and dead insects and other debris. This, coupled with the large crowds and the strong smell of sulfur made it an unpleasant experience. Although the strong smell of sulfur was expected, the level of dirtiness combined with that just made me feel uneasy. Also, although not parasitic to people, we did see Horsehair worms swimming around the little kids hot spring. We definitely wouldn't recommend these springs. There are better and more clean Hot Springs to adventure too. Hard pass on this place.

Yelp
We arrived at the resort at noon, swam then ate lunch in the restaurant, went on a hike to the falls, and returned for ice cream from the gift shop. Locker rooms and pools were clean - busy but not crowded. Had a lovely swim followed by an even better soak in the warm pool. Lunch was quite good - I had bacon wrapped dates and a really tasty salad. My partner had the fish and chips and it was excellent! Our son ordered the PB&J and it was two uncrustables, which made him very happy. Service was good for all activities there.

Yelp
Ahh, the promise of soothing and mineral-tonic effects of a natural hot springs soak amidst the idyllic views of a valley shorn of ancient glaciers. Across oceans of time, I could commune with ancient native peoples who first discovered this sacred place, enriching both spirit and body. Well, it wasn't quite like that. The baths were certainly great. And no ding on Sol Duc, but the sheer heterogeneity of the human form was manifest in abundance, no judgement, but it was a contrast that some might find "disconcerting". Biggest gripe was the bathroom/locker room. The smell of human waste was overpowering, and the floors were a slurry of dirt, urine/fecal matter and Zeus knows what viruses/bacteria swam in that muck. It was a horrifying cesspool of filth, and my anxiety about being patient Zero for some new exotic disease was through the roof, not sure if a Valium would have helped. They need to fix this post haste. The pools are nice and hot, and the sulfuric vapors were good for the soul. The rest of the facility left much to be desired, perhaps a day trip, and avoid the locker room like the "plague", pun intended.

Kelsi R.

Yelp
We stayed in a cabin with two queen beds and a twin sleeper sofa. The beds were uncomfortable, and the thought that the sofa could possibly be used for a bed was laughable. The cabin needed updates, and did not seem very clean. In addition, there was only one real possibility for food, and it was way overpriced. The one saving grace of the place was the waitstaff in the restaurant who were welcoming, accommodating and fun. While use of the hot springs was included with the stay, they were crowded and dirty. While I didn't think the place was wildly expensive, it certainly did not deliver for the price paid, and I will not stay here again. I would not recommend Sol Duc without extensive updates and changes. On the other hand, the hike to Sol Duc falls was completely lovely.

Lorna M.

Yelp
I have not been there but I have a friend that has cancer and she and her husband were granted a wish to stay three nights there. They were treated very poorly. The staff was rude, the beds (before they had even been sat on) were lumpy from the pictures she showed me. For over $200.00 a night I would think better treatment. I for one will not be going there and I will spread the word around. Very disappointed.

Yelp
Overall very pleasant experience. Cabin was smaller than expected but not terrible. We arrived late so didn't make it to the pool that night so we got up early and got in at 8am. It was great staying at the springs in the early morning as almost no one was there. Springs were great there were four pools with different temperatures. Facilities including shower and swimsuits dryer were all good. Then we had breakfast at the restaurant. Food was yummy. Good service. Only downside is the food preparation time was quite long.

Yelp
It's a designation spot. You go there for the Hotsprings. 3 Hotsprings soaking hot tubs. One is the largest is medium hot temp and then they have the other one as Hot and then a kids wading pool. They also have a regular pool (not heated) or at least when we went last weekend. This is the last week of the season for them. The cost is pretty high but it's not like you have lots of options. Cabin do include the cost of admittance to Hotsprings. The entry to Hotsprings were based on 90 increments. 8am-9:30 etc. and if you aren't staying in cabin it's $15 per session. For those in cabins you just reserved your session(s). Food was limited but actually not bad. I enjoyed the elk burger but it's a bit steep $20 but saved me a 2 hour drive to town and back. Things to consider: 1) no WiFi. No cell service. Download all the movies to device large enough for proper viewing by your family. Get a cabin with the kitchen if you want to cook or make your own food. Bring a deck of cards or games or a good book. Consider walk-in talkies for the family. We used our mesh device to relay texts. GoTenna Bring a bag for wet clothes and if you have a robe. They have lockers without locks and only a few showers in the changing rooms. You can hang your bag on hooks by hottub area. Lastly, it's traditional Hotsprings mentality. Just soak and enjoy the quite or chat with family and friends. Not much happening otherwise.

Yelp
Okay this place is disgusting. Hold you like sardines before your time is ready and the bathrooms are gross, too many people and not enjoyable. Overpriced as well. Skip this

Yelp
Not worth the money. The pools are overcrowded with no limit. The water was luke warm. Also did not feel comfortable at all here as a lesbian. I got funny looks from the staff and other guests.

Yelp
First off the area is beautiful. And the 30 minute drive from the nearest major road makes you realize how in the middle of nowhere you are. Which brings me to the major thing I had not realized till statin g there. Zero cell service and no WiFi or internet at the resort. So if you go into it as an "off the grid experience" then maybe it would serve it's purpose. So bring games or something extra to do because the evenings/nights get long. Restaurant was pricy but I felt like portion size and quality combined with remoteness it was reasonable however obnoxious people with a million loud children made the dining a little annoying. Unlike Crescent Lake Lodge there is no bar, just the restaurant so it's not exactly easy to meet people and chat it up. Hiking was beautiful to the Sol Duc Falls, only one of the hot springs pools was being used and it was packed so we ended up never even using it. Overall we ended up going down to Crescent Lake Lodge to access WiFi since we needed to check in for a flight. And ultimately I wish we would have stayed there since we still could have traveled up to hike to the falls and enjoy the same drive while having a lake front view, WiFi/cell service and an even better restaurant + bar.
