Solar de Serrade

An amazing and unexpected stay :-). Coming to Solar de Serrade is wonderful. The great vineyard is the base. What makes it absolutely 6 star is the warm and friendly service from the people - a special thanks to Sofia. Wonderful rooms, quiet surroundings and homely breakfast. And of course, great wine tasting.

This is a lovely old manor hotel on a working winery close to the pretty border town of Monção. For the price, this was a good find. The breakfast was superb. Fresh squeezed orange juice, wonderful coffee, excellent quality eggs and bread, not to mention meats and cheeses. Quite a spread for just the two of us!

We loved this place. The house was lavishly decorated, and our room was huge and very comfortable. Everything - grounds included - was very impressive. Their wine was also top class. Breakfast was delicious, including cooked eggs and tasty pastries. The hosts were very helpful and delightful. Good restaurants are less than 10 minutes away. Highly recommended.

We visited Monçao for a week and chose this Wine Estaye as a home base. It was low season and we were lucky enough to have the whole estate to ourselves for a few days. A ten room estate with wonderful views of the vineyard . Esperanza, Sofia, Pilar and everyone else made us feel so welcome. We had a beautiful spread for breakfast everyday and at night, we have wine which we bought from them in our suite.||Thank you to all the ladies for welcoming us and making us feel so welcome

We visited Monção primarily because of the Vinho verde so Quinta Solar de Serrade was the perfect place to stay. It is located among vineyards and only 3km from the village of Monção. The facilities were fine and functionnal. As we were hiking on both mornings and wanted an early start, the owner kindly agreed to serve breakfast at 07:30am. Going back in the afternoon after a day of hiking and sightseeing the Quinta de Serrade was the perfect place to relax and enjoy a bottle of Alvarinho wine from the property. Overall a delightful stay and highly recommended.

The desk clerk at our hotel told us of this winery. The grounds are absolutely stunning with small gardens and niches throughout. The owners gave us a tour and a tasting and couldn't have been more open and generous with their time. The vineyard is typical of the small family run businesses in the region, but is so different that the large scale operations in much of the rest of the world. Our only regret is that we did not realize they also run a small boutique hotel that looked charming.
