I’ve visited Lisbon 5 times and can’t make myself try a different hotel. Away from the crowds, but close enough to walk to the fort and cathedral. Alfama is a true neighborhood with winding streets and plenty of funky shops and cafes. Just bring good walking shoes for the hills. Rooms are nice and the views spectacular from the suites. I can only speak for the suites upstairs and the smaller rooms downstairs. The former are spacious with incredible views, perfect for a coupe. The latter are good and well appointed, but may be cramped for a long stay, especially for a couple. The terrace has one of Lisbon’s best views. Breakfast is good. Port and fresh fruit will be in your room daily. The hotel is small, so book well ahead.

This hotel was the first place we landed when we got to Portugal and it set the tone for an amazing trip. Rio and Francois at the desk were charming, friendly and helpful. Our room was spectacular! The entire wall was windows we could open for fresh air and spectacular views. The room was bright, fresh with great artwork. We had a decanter of port greeting us in the room. Each day when we came back after exploring they offered us complimentary drinks out on the deck - again with great views. Location is perfect - I always want a small hotel in a charming neighborhood instead of big, generic hotels. Our breakfast was included, which I was not expecting - and the food was delicious. I don't usually eat breakfast at hotels but we loved it!

Can't say enough good words about our stay at Solar dos Mouros! From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The staff was wonderful in all respects, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome and special. The accommodations were equally impressive in terms of comfort, spaciousness and cleanliness. As mentioned in other reviews, the location is perfect for visit to Lisbon. Most highly recommend staying here. Thank you for making our visit so special!

We stayed in the suite with the panoramic view of Lisbon and the river, absolutely fantastic. Room was comfy and spacious, everything perfect. Lots of stairs if that is an issue. The location is quiet, even though it is close to the castle. Easy to walk down (and their is a public elevator) to the main squares and the cathedral etc, great transport options all around, restaurants close by, but you might want to book them. The staff are lovely, especially Francois, really helpful and friendly. It was a bit of a splurge for us, but we loved it here.

A great hotel in a brilliant location. The staff were excellent and always friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. Room was large, comfortable and the breakfast was very good with views over the rooftops towards the bridge and statue of Christ from the restaurant. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there again.

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, It is situated in a very good location. The small patio terrace has a very good view over the river Tagus. The bedrooms are very adequate and clean. We would recommend it and use it again on a future trip to Lisbon.

I’m rating this 1 star to warn visitors about serious flaws that detract from the exceptional ratings of other visitors. |I will start with the negative to end on a positive note. We booked a balcony suite on the fifth floor. |1. THE HOTEL HAS NO ELEVATOR. It is definitely not for the elderly or those with mobility issues. |2. The so-called SUITE is merely a large attic bedroom with no desk or workspace. I hit my head on the slanted roof when I got out of bed. |3. The shower lacks privacy. It is clearly visible from the balcony and neighboring buildings. |4. The balcony features a useless shower. |5. The two small (33cl) bottles of water when we checked in were hardly enough for the Nespresso machine. It took half an hour to get more water. |To end on a positive note, the spectacular view from the balcony made me forgive all the shortcomings. But I will never order breakfast in the room because of the time it took to deliver extra water.
