My dad and I were looking for a brunch spot in New Canaan and ran into this gorgeous place. We were able to sit inside (really fun interior, loved the shape of the booths) and social distanced safely.
Our waiter was super friendly (and super sweet) and was excellent. Major props being able to work with such kindness and service during the holidays in a pandemic! I was really impressed.
The food was totally delicious. My father got the brunch special--bacon and lobster omelette. Cooked perfectly and very flavorful. I was impressed with how delicate the lobster was!
However, my tuna bowl was so special. Each piece was seared to perfection (god knows we hate an overcooked piece of tuna) dressed in a pleasantly spiced sauce (I couldn't tell if it was mayonnaise based) that was creamy yet light as air. The rice and ancient grains were cooked perfectly as well, and not overdressed. The broccoli added a lovely crunch and color, dressed in a brightly acidic style. But the real winner on the plate was that hummus. Smooth textured, with flavors and a nice smokiness as an aftertaste.I could eat that hummus with a spoon all day long. I was so pleased with the umami-bomb in front of me, I ate it so slowly.
We had coffee and dessert. My latte was well-made, something I've found difficult for some restaurants to really get right. My father and I split a tiramisu. The cream on top was delicious, but I found the sponge to be under-soaked, and not a lot of coffee flavor, therefore, was to be found. I did get a hit of booze from the cream, not sure what alcohol it was though.
Overall, a wonderful place to eat. I hope to come back soon and eat more of that hummus!!!
