I absolutely love this bakery! It's been the closest we've found to our house with baked goods comparable to our favorite spot in Boston! BEST brownies ever! Their tiramisu and lobster tails are soooo good! Always pleasant service and quaint, quiet environment.

Ordered here a handful of times this is a great local bakery. Everyone is friendly. The food is absolutely amazing. They have many pastries as well as breads, free coffee and reasonably priced pies. Price is on point too. I definitely recommend this. This was a chocolate chip Blondie. We got an oh my God it was amazing anytime I have a sweet tooth. I go here. I definitely recommend youwill not be disappointed.

Great local bakery. They do have bread, croissants, cakes, muffins, scones, doughnuts and donuts, pies and free coffee with your purchase. Gluten free and vegetarian pastries are available too. Very pleasant lady is running this bakery. Everything is fresh and tasty.

Google
An excellent place for a pastry! They also have homemade bread of all kinds and basically every baked good you can think of! They have won Best Bakery 10+ years in a row! The customer service is excellent, and the atmosphere is great too. The owner Bill is a great guy as well as a hard worker and gives back to the community. If you haven’t been to Soleil & Suns Bakery, it’s a must-try!

If I lived any closer, I would put on 50 lbs of bread and pastry weight. Staff are incredibly friendly, desserts are spectacular, bread is warm and flavorful, and you really can't go wrong with their vast selection! Look at the pictures!!

Google
The worst almond croissant I've ever had! Lots of dough but almost no filling. Other pastries were ok. Too expensive for mostly bread dough. Will not recommend.

Google
I stop at Soleil's atleast once or twice a month. Everything is delicious. My favorite are the fruit tarts. So pretty & delicious. My favorite bread is the pickle bread which is amazing as a tuna salad sandwich. The service is always amazing. Once after a knee injury I was using a cane and they carried my purchase out to my car. Top notch!! And Bill is from my hometown of Putnam.

Kristen S.

Yelp
Been on my list for a while. Arrived around 4:30 on a Saturday and there were plenty of items to choose from. My favorites were the chocolate raspberry tart and molasses cookie, but everyone enjoyed all the desserts. Will definitely pop in next time I am in the area.

Nana C.

Yelp
Soleil and Suns lives up to its award-winning reputation. There are a few tables in the bright seating area. Service was friendly and fast. The large selection of pastries was mouth-watering. The almond croissant, covered in sliced almonds could have had a bit more almond filling. (I have high expectations for almond croissants and have yet to find any comparable to those in Cohasset, MA.) Fresh coffee was complimentary. The heavenly strawberry rhubarb pie had a nice balance of fruit/vegetable and crust. Check out the handmade reversible children's aprons for sale.

Yelp
Best around don't waste your time going anywhere else even if you have to drive far to get to this place best oatmeal raisin cookies n breads are the best

Zahara A.

Yelp
The woman behind the counter is patient and pleasant. The bread and pastries are just fantastically delicious. Try one of the custard tarts with fresh fruit on top. The almond croissants with the almond filling are heaven. Buy a couple of molasses/ginger cookies for later.

Michelle S.

Yelp
We are so lucky to have this bakery. Really excellent. I would go into detail about the raspberry filled shortbread cookies and some other amazing treats, but I don't want them to be sold out when I go. Please leave some for me.

Yelp
Day before Easter -Long wait but worth it! Everything was fresh and quality ingredients. Only disappointment was the danish was too sweet and had butter scotch pudding and not farmers cheese:-(

Devorah D.

Yelp
I love this bakery and we are SO lucky to have it here in Woodstock! I look forward to visiting every time I come out to the area! Everything is made fresh each morning, with local ingredients, by a baker who truly cares about his products and his community! It truly translates into the incredible quality of the breads, pastries, cookies, cakes, and muffins! Everything is sooooo delicious! Their napoleons are the only ones my mom has ever found to be close to the ones her mom used to make and was known for. My mom was sooooo happy devouring every bite of those napoleons. The raisin bread is full of raisins and incredible. The cranberry pecan bread is out of this world and full of cranberries! The cinnamon croissant twists are so light and flaky yet flavorful! The chocolate chip cookies are amazing! My dad LOVES the scones! The strawberry shortcake cakes are one of our family's all time favorites--so light, fresh, moist, flavors balanced perfectly, and top quality! The chocolate raspberry cake, tarts, mini tarts, and bombs are soooo good--incredible flavor! The chocolate bombs, eclairs, and fruit tarts are always sooo good! The pies are soooo full of fruit you can tell the quality by how heavy they weigh--and then when you take that first bite, heavenly! Everything here is delicious! I love supporting this bakery as they give so much back to the community--with back to school drives, free meals given away around the holidays, free bread given to anyone in need any day, free muffins for those it would help, and free coffee always. I love the new coffee shop vibes with the tables and chairs, and Jamie behind the counter is always super sweet, efficient, and attentive. This is the best bakery I've ever been to! If you haven't been here yet, I highly recommend it!

Yelp
It's a great place for bread and pastries. The service is very good and it has great ambience.

Yelp
Best sourdough!!! I stopped in for the first time and the place was popping, but the line moved quickly and I was in and out.

Karen S.

Yelp
Hands down the best bakery! Fresh ingredients! The bread is amazing especially the antipasto! Just tried the sun dried tomato and garlic...it's delicious!!! Love the Whoopie pies! Staff is fantastic!

Ciaran W.

Yelp
Everything is amazing. My husband brought me home a fruit tart that I didn't get to enjoy until the next day. It was still perfection with a flaky crusty shell, perfect consistency in the filling a fruit ripe to a point of perfection (and impeccably trimmed prior to making it on the tart). I would recommend trying the French macaroons except they're so good I want them for myself. Just kidding - try them and thank me later!

Shana B.

Yelp
I cannot stay away! I particularly love all of the breads and savory options and my family loves all of the sweets. Peanut butter cookies are to die for.

Lisa F.

Yelp
Stopped here upon recommendation from a friend in the area and now I've been twice! I'm a sucker for good bread... first time, got a loaf of roasted garlic/ cheese/ black pepper (simply incredible flavor!) and recently got asiagio bread and a loaf of cinnamon raisin (pro tip: place asiago in oven so the cheese gets melted and warm!). Cinnamon raisin has been a nice addition to my breakfast-- sliced and froze it to eat at my leisure! Also had a zeppolle.... this thing was heavy with filling and delish! I plan to stop in every time I'm driving thru, in hopes of more delicious food!

Jody N.

Yelp
Great Bismarcks and eclairs! Jaime is the nicest woman I ever met too! The cookies, pies and cakes are all amazing too

David B.

Yelp
I give this bakery five stars just for the fresh smell of homemade bread as soon as you walk in the door. Wow! You will have a hard time choosing what delicious morsels you want because I all looks and is so delicious. Choose well my friends. Don't forget to get the cannoli's! I ate mine before I could get a picture of it. Best cannoli EVER! Boom! Anyway God bless all my fellow foodies Always

Brttny K.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! Worth the drive from East Lyme any day!! The Italian bread is just unbelievable!!

Debbi L.

Yelp
If there was a rating higher that 5 I would give it. Everything is so delicious. Took my visiting family there and besides getting many loaves of bread we enjoyed amazing pastries, fruit tarts, muffins and the best whoopie pies ever tasted (along with complimentary coffee). Bill, the owner and baker does so much for the community it makes you want to support him even more.

Laney S.

Yelp
I drive an hour and five minutes to this bakery. It's THAT good. Not to mention the constant public generosity that the owner offers. It's so rare to actually see someone with such pure intentions doing good for the public. And... the cheesecakes and cinnamon buns are the BOMBBBBVB

Dazed A.

Yelp
The bakery products look tasty but the prices are high in my opinion. I might pay $3.00 for a single piece of fancy pastry, but not $4.00 or more. I know that for working people making decent money $4.00 or more may sound reasonable, but I think it is excessive. The stock in the case, which is rather small, is not plentiful. I heard the baker made Italian bread sometimes, someone said Fridays, but although I have looked a couple of times, there wasn't any. See, the problem is, if one is Italian, it is almost impossible to find any Italian bread with a hard crust anywhere in the so-called "Quiet Corner" of Connecticut. I suppose I could say this is the best bakery around, but on the other hand, there is only one other I know of, which is in Putnam, and their stock is limited, though they have seating, coffee and what looks like decent pastry in the case. They had green canolis around St. Patrick's Day.

Melissa V.

Yelp
Nice little bakery. They have a nice assortment of breads (I still need to try them), a couple cases of baked goods and a freezer full of gluten free products. My favorite thing about this place is they're open later than most bakeries and especially open on Sunday afternoons, so you can take a ride and have a little dessert and coffee. And I recommend their almond croissants.

Dennis L.

Yelp
This place has good Covid-19 precautions with mask and a limit of 3 people at a time inside. So all I can say is be prepared to wait outside in line at some points, but we all have to make sacrifices at this time. I believed that we tried almost all of the artisan breads, and they're all unique and delicious. They have a case with all of the pastries in them, with so much to choose from, and they're worth the prices that they're asking. So if you think that this place should be like a Dunkin donut display ( along with the prices) guess again. Maybe the good thing about the prices are that it brings you back to reality, from being mesmerized and helps with overindulgence, lol. We haven't tried the pies yet, but I imagine that they will be worth it too. With the current COVID situation, this is a place that should be supported, because it would be a shame to loose it!

Grizz J.

Yelp
Awesome selection! Everything we've got tastes amazing. Highly suggest grabbing a cup of coffee while you are here!

Crystal L.

Yelp
Delicious! We love stopping by to grab a treat. The cheesecake was soooo good. The staff is very welcoming.

Hayley S.

Yelp
Consistently the highlight of my week whenever I visit. I keep introducing friends & family to them, too, and everyone I've brought loves them. What a wonderful bakery!

Chris G.

Yelp
Great bread and delicious pastries. Very impressive variety of pastries! I love the almond cookies, mini almond paste filled bear claws, and more. The breads are amazing too! Stop here if you are in the area- a must try!

Tim S.

Yelp
We stop here once every year on our way home from the Woodstock Fair. I love this bakery! Everything is fresh and looks yummy! We've tried the cakes, cookies, and cupcakes over the years and everything has tasted delicious! I just wish this bakery was closer to where I live and not 60 miles away!

Jeanne M.

Yelp
Anything you could ever want in baked goods deliciousness. Blueberry muffins bursting with plump berries, antipasto bread the deserved to be eaten as is but pairs nicely with cheese and wine.

Krisandra C.

Yelp
No better place for bread!!! The pickle and the antipasto bread were unexpected treats!

Jeannie G.

Yelp
Ordered a custom cake via Facebook messenger! Was super prompt answering my questions. Cake was made as promised! Beautiful design! Tasty cake! Frosting was just right too... not too sweet. Even all the family critics loved it! Upon arrival to pick up the cake, I was overwhelmed with all of the lovely treats on display! We opted for muffins and a coffee roll for the next morning! They all looked so tasty, it was hard to resist! TONS of muffin and danish varieties, and coffee rolls... there were other things too, too many to list! Definitely a treasure place in Quiet Corner! Staff working the counter was quite polite too! All and all it was a GREAT experience! Thanks for the great cake!

Molly K.

Yelp
Soleil and Suns have delicious things like cake, breads, pastries, pies and cookies. The pastries are delicious. The scones are delicious. I love the aprons that they have for children to wear. I recommend the Strawberry Rhubarb pie in the summer it's that delicious.

Sara M.

Yelp
What a sweet bakery! My family ordered trays of assorted pastries, mini cupcakes, chocolate chip & oatmeal raisin cookies for my Grandmother's memorial reception. The bakery owner Bill is a family friend & was there when we arrived & welcomed us. The sweets that I tried were perfection! The mini vanilla cupcake was moist & flavorful. The buttercream was delicious & not cloyingly sugary like some. I would have indulged in just one treat, but my husband tried the chocolate chip cookie & said I'd be a fool to not have one! I'm glad I did: that homemade, gooey-in-the-middle classic chocolate chip cookie texture & flavor. Yep. Mm. At the shop, they even have fresh croutons & brewed coffee available for purchase. If you live in Putnam, this spot is not to be missed!

Rich V.

Yelp
I went there this afternoon to get a Danish for my breakfast tomorrow. I asked the lady to put extra frosting on the Danish and she explained that they were all out. she didn't check, she just knew that a bakery had no frosting left. maybe she felt that they didn't need more frosting, hard to say. I wont be going back, ever.

Toni P.

Yelp
Sooo many yummy options. Even delicious vegan treats. The employees are super sweet. I would totally recommend

Lauren F.

Yelp
legitimately most fresh, best tasting sourdough bread i've ever had in my life. highly recommend, can't wait to come back and try more.

Colleen D.

Yelp
The bread and pastry are fair at best. I would not ever go back. I grew up in Federal Hill Providence, RI and back in the day there where a lot of bakeries in that area. This place is mediocre at best. Way overpriced for what you get. There Italian bread is awful. Take the drive to Cranston or Johnston in Rhode Island and you'll get quality bread and pasties. I can see why this place is empty the both times I visited. Will not return.

Katie B.

Yelp
Had a gender reveal cake made and they did a great job start to finish. Turned out so cute! Very pleased with the final product.

Cassandra P.

Yelp
First and foremost, the bread here was delicious. How amazing that we have such a wonderful little bakery in the quiet corner! I'd highly recommend going and picking up a loaf. We also really enjoyed our cupcakes. I mostly picked them up for my kids, as I would not call myself a cupcake person, but I did try a bite and it was really good. Frosting is not my thing, but this was not the overly sweet, sticky crap you're used to; real quality and tasty. Second, and just as important, in my opinion, the owner here is a real class act. This Christmas the he decided to open the bakery to everyone to take the overstock for FREE. ANYONE could come in, while supplies lasted, to take some baked goods home to their families for Christmas. While many other places may have tried to make a quick buck somehow (nothing wrong with that, especially with how tough 2020 has been!) or would just cut their losses and toss the leftovers, this guy actually took time that he could have spent with his family to make sure complete strangers had something nice on Christmas. When he still had some goods leftover after he closed up shop, he gave the rest to a senior living community. With all the bad news, bad things, bad people you hear about WE NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE THIS. I will gladly support this business and will make an effort to return more frequently.

D L.

Yelp
I drove an hour to get here and bought a bunch of stuff for dessert for a family cookout later that day. Sadly, nearly everything had to be thrown away. Seven of the eight cupcakes were completely stale (except for the cannoli filled - I believe that was the flavor - that was good!). I could tell immediately just by the touch, they were hard. PB cookie: stale. Whoopie pie: very odd cake and frosting flavors. Could only stomach two bites. Lobster tail: overcooked- shell crumbled to pieces. Eclair: filling had nice flavor, but was missing about an inch of filling on the first bite. Lemon bismarck: stale. The woman working there was really friendly, so one star for her and one for the cannoli cupcake. I won't be returning. :(

Suki F.

Yelp
The staff I encountered were very nice! Welcoming and friendly! The antipasto bread was mediocre. Tasty, yes, but something was missing. It had an unfinished look (which I thought of all the breads I saw on the shelf). and the only way to eat IMO is to toast. Good bread shouldn't be toasted. Can someone enlighten me on that. The vegan muffins are delicious, not rubbery as they can often be. The regular muffins are delicious as well.

Deborah F.

Yelp
I love the Asiago and Kalamato olive breads the best. Both are filled with huge chunks of cheese or olives, respectively. I have also had a couple of their cakes. So delicious!

Carmel O.

Yelp
Love the variety of breads and the lobster tail pastry is the best I've ever had. The lemon bars are a favorite of my husband and daughter in law. If I want something special and really good. I go here!

Kris T.

Yelp
I went there today because I wanted a local bakery to make my granddaughter's birthday cake. They had mini cup cakes at 1.99 each. Rip off. Got a yellow and chocolate one. Both tasted like they were frozen and defrosted for sale. Absolutely terrible cup cakes. Then I ordered a eclair and the filling had no taste and the pastry was stale. Worse bakery I have ever been to. Nice service the the products are really bad.

Olga X.

Yelp
I've lived in Chicago and Boston and other cities (just moved here from Cambridge), and it's quite comparable! Got a cake from these guys on my husband's birthday, just walked in and bought it -- and they were super nice and immediately put "Happy Birthday" on it, and candles, free of charge. Also got some macaroons. The cake was light and moist, the frosting of that nice cream cheese-based variety and tasty. The macaroons were very light, a tiny bit dry perhaps, but still lovely. My four-year-old, who normally just eats the frosting, had quite a bit of this cake! Also very friendly people, and a pleasure to visit the bakery (adorable aprons on walls). Wonderful to have this in the community!

Seth F.

Yelp
Made a special trip here to grab a coffee. Delicious organic coffee. Scone was one of the best ive had. Still warm and a little crispy on the outside. Yum.

P B.

Yelp
This is by far the best bakery in "The Quiet Corner" maybe even the entire state. The staff is top notch, the items are freshly made daily with top quality ingredients. And the owner Bill is one of the most genuine guys you'll ever meet. When you want the best it's well worth the ride..

Sandi S.

Yelp
Such an amazing place...they have a huge variety. Breads, pies, tarts, cakes...even vegan options. The bread is outstanding, they have some unique flavors...I tried the white chocolate ginger, it was perfect. Coffee is great too. The service is always very friendly and helpful...they will also make things to order, vegan, etc. I visit at least twice a week and plan to get my Thanksgiving pies here. Highly Recommend!!!! *****

Jeff E.

Yelp
Yelp posts led me here. It's quaint, great eye appeal for offerings, good selection and value. I tired a few items, eclair, whoopie pie, chocolate chip cookies and all were very good, fresh, and excellent ingredients. Could have tried more items, but watching calories. Server was excellent, very very nice. What I tasted, all was excellent. I would have enjoyed some cake by the slice, but cannot complain. Taste of everything was outstanding. Will return if only for fruit pies........they all look crazy good.
