Nice atmosphere (outdoor), nice setup, food is okay but could be richer in flavour. Also could be friendlier in handling the queue despite booking, could be intentional though to indicate quality. Overall, average

Il Solferino is a lovely little restaurant in Milan. It's definitely for special occasions, as it's refined and classy. The service is beyond outstanding, full of humour and good nature. The outdoor sheltered and heated area is a delight to eat in, even when it's not the full blush of summer. The wine list is extensive with something to suit all budgets from 35 to over a thousand euros, and the house wine selection by the glass was delightful. All three courses were expertly handled and showcased fine Italian food at its best. You pay a little more to go to Il Solferino, but it's worth it for such an incredible evening.

Google
Solferino is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Milan — a must-visit for anyone who truly appreciates great Italian food. Every dish we had was memorable. The carbonara, trufel pasta, octopus, linguine with seafood, lobster pasta, and ravioli were all beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. The homemade liver pâté was a highlight — rich, smooth, and perfectly seasoned. For dessert, the tiramisu was simply exceptional — without a doubt, one of the best I’ve ever tried in my life. Other desserts were also good. We also had an excellent bottle of Marchesi di Barolo 2016

The food here is delicious, worth the price and very fulfilling. The atmosphere of the restaurant sets a nice and welcoming mood. The service is excellent, quick and rapid. My waiter, Ash was really helpful, friendly and polite in serving us. I had dinner here with my family and I would recommend the truffle pasta and risotto.

We went to the Solferino for a business lunch. I would consider this a true traditional Italien restaurant of which there are less and less in Milano these days. We really enjoyed it. Very friendly and responsive service, but always in the background once they recognised we were talking business. Really nice atmosphere and good and fresh Italien food. Burrata, ravioli filled with fish, tiramisu … All very tasty. I would have loved to test more of the wine which was stored all over the place. Just watching all these great Italien wines was fun already. Will certainly be back - next time hopefully with more time and in a private setting.

Lovely classic Milano eatery. We had an incredible last night in Italy here. Atmosphere was the exact authentic and cozy experience we were looking for. The service was attentive and fun to be around. Food was absolutely delicious!

Google
I tried the milano risotto, simply amazing. Able to find a seat without reservations. I visit in opening time. It quickly filled up the table within 30mins. I would suggest make reservations early to avoid disappointment. To be honest, the dishes really good. I hope i could have try more dishes. Highly recommended.

Yelp
We loved this quaint restaurant in Milano. The ambience was excellent and the food even better! Our server was kind and very helpful! Definitely finish your meal with the semifredo

Jane M.

Yelp
Lively atmosphere and nice friendly staff. Menu was small but each dish well served & perfectly prepared. Respectable wine selection as well. I'd return!

Yelp
Amazing restaurant! Excellent food and service. Highly suggest. Look into the specials! Always worth ordering.

Yelp
Excellent food with a great atmosphere. The waiter was very pleasant and he worked very hard to serve his customers.

Yelp
One of the best meals in Italy! The Osso Bucco with risotto Milanese was so tender and flavorful. We also had the black squid ink ravioli filled with fish in a saffron sauce, and the grilled octopus with burrata. All very delicious. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive. Would definitely come back the next time we're in Milan!

Yelp
Had a reservation and dinner here tonight based on a recommendation from my hotel. Solferino was not walking distance so I had to Uber to the restaurant. The atmosphere is very nice for a dinner jacket of which I was wearing. I was one of the first patrons to dine this Sunday evening and by the time I left the restaurant was packed and ever table occupied. Everything I ordered was delicious and especially the spaghetti with clams. I'm giving this restaurant 4 of 5 stars because I don't know how my bill (Il conto) came to be 73 euros. Especially when I only had water to drink. I would dine here again but be prepared for an expensive dinner. The food is worth it.

Yelp
The food is very delicious and the service is more than wonderful. Great restaurant in milan.

Yelp
Nice Osteria in the center of Rome. Attention to details, nice setting, classic dishes and true flavors. Had a nice bottle of Nebiolo, artichoke salad, cotoletta and Ossobuco alla Milanese. For dessert, we opted for the semifreddo. The food was delicious, services was attentive.

Adam L.

Yelp
Il Solferino came recommended, and deservedly so! Its a charming little Osteria-style restaurant (and it IS small, so reserve!), that is warm and welcoming. The owners and staff were very solicitous, and we were seated quickly and at an excellent table. Our waiter was charming, pleasant, and very helpful with his recommendations. Frankly, I was there for the Ossobuco. But he recommended the Linguine all' Astice, which was divine! Sweetie had the other suggestion, the artichoke mousse. Also heavenly! I did have the Ossobuco, and at the risk of being an awful human being (because everything else was perfect), it was...ok. The risotto was exceptional, but I like my Ossobuco with a tomato-base, and this was more of the classical Milanese style. Still, the meat was tender, and the marrow delicious. Sweetie had the Milanese veal, also recommended, which was exceptional. It was all washed down with a delicious Banfi Brunello (2007), from a very comprehensive wine list, with some great wines at very reasonable prices. It was a wonderful experience, and I'll definitely go back!

Yelp
So our concierge recommended we hit up Il Solferino if we were in the mood for some killer Milanese food. This place was established in the early 1900s and comes with a lot of history. We weren't disappointed. This place is old school. White table cloths.. Servers in bow ties. And the food was good. The wine selection is what impressed me most. They had bottles and bottles and bottles of wine to choose from. Our waiter was absolutely fantastic. Super professional and friendly, offering us advice on the best wines for a reasonable price. We ordered a few bottles of wine and some apps and we were on or way to a great Italian night. We of course ordered veal milanese and their signature pasta the pacheri. It was so good we ordered another plate. This place is the real deal if you want to experience the culture of Milano.

Gordon K.

Yelp
Not impressive food. As some review suggest, they would try to sell you some truffle to put on top of pasta. It would cost around euro 35. I think it is not a good value for money. More importantly, when my wife asked for lobster selection, they suggested lobster linguine. The lobster was not fresh but frozen one, which is way less impressive than another restaurant we tried a day earlier. And the price was euro 48. I would not recommend this place to people would like to try good Italian food. Because when we walk around after lunch, there are other restaurants nearby offer way better seafood.

Yelp
Awful! The English 'American' menu has higher prices by about € 3-4 per item. Wine list starts at € 100 and above. Food was average for a $250 bill. The kicker is at the end of the meal the waiter states that service is not included (not true in Italy -as there is a service/cover charge). Park Hyatt concierge steered me to this restaurant, as I have been to Milano regularly for the past 18 years and he 'highly' recommend. Not so!!

Mordi S.

Yelp
This is for sure on of my top five Italian restaurants, the food is great, the service is excellent!!!! If you are looking for good food, fresh, Milanese one, this is the right restaurant!!!! I will come back for sure!!!

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant. Probably in my top 20 meals of all time. The 'lobster' linguine which was off the menu was superb as was the fried seafood platter which was cooked more like a a very thin and tasty tempura. The gnocchi in a butter cream sauce was divine. The chianti riserva for 30 euros was also a great drop. Watch out for the 4 euro sit down fee for 'bread' per person. Was not cheap but definitely great value. 187 euros for two adults and two children with wine.

Steven H.

Yelp
Milanese perfection. Charming, unpretentious and utterly delicious restaurant. Our waiter was charming, made great suggestions and spoke flawless English. We ate there at 8:30 on a Sunday night and every table was full of well-heeled locals (except us of course) really enjoying the traditional fare. We started with a shared plate of the freshest, most delicious burratta and culatello, a select cut of prosciutto. So good! Next we each had the risotto Milanese, a perfect rendition of the classic made with generous amounts of saffron, followed by beautifully crisp and moist veal Milanese with cherry tomato and arugula salad. We shared a beautifully crisp milliefoglie with whipped cream and wild Alpine strawberries for dessert. Ah, the little joys in life! This was a wonderful restaurant experience - most highly recommended!

Yelp
Came in for dinner while in Milan and I have to say this was a great spot. It was very busy on the night we came in and we waited about 15 minutes for a table since we didn't have a reservation. The waiting area was so small and uncomfortable, especially since groups of people kept walking in and out. We were finally seated and ready to order. We had a bottle of Lambrusco, T-bone steak for two and I had spaghetti pomodoro. The T-bone steak was HUGE, definitely enough for 3 people although the menu says two. It came out undercooked even though it was ordered medium well, but they were great about taking it back to grill longer. The spaghetti was simple but fantastic. The tiramisu was the highlight of the night. We ordered two for the table and it was gone within seconds. We were only 3 people. The service was fantastic. Our Colombian waiter was great and a lot of fun but all the while very professional. Highly recommended place!

Yelp
This is our favorite restaurant in Milan, and between my husband's frequent work trips and my occasional tagging along, we have been here quite a bit. First, the service is exceptional. Very professional, warm, familiar, attentive. Happy to make recommendations, and might even steer you toward things they think are coming out well that night or wines that would be better than what you might be thinking. I came here for my 40th birthday last week and they made it very special. We brought colleagues here a couple nights later and they loved it as much as we do. A great gem in a terrific neighborhood, I can't recommend it enough.

Yelp
The Resturant is traditional Italian food. Small but cozy and was established in 1909. The food is fresh great dishes specially the ones with Mushroom. Very nice experience and would highly recommend it. Nice Deseret and fresh ice cream.

David P.

Yelp
Wonderful meal served by truly pro waiters. I was a. It nervous because there weren't a lot of Italians eating but I think we outsiders all use Yelp. Nice atmosphere and the prices are very reasonable. Risotto Milanese was tasty.

Yelp
We had a list of places to try, but went here based on Parc Hyatt's recommendation. We were a group of seven. Immediately the upsell started. The place was a complete ripoff. I agreed to three starters for the table. We substituted one recommended starter for something else. Server brought out five and unbeknownst to us doubled each order. Beware the owner's ploy of showing you a bowl of truffles when you order veal Milanese, he automatically assumes you want them added to your dish for a 150 euro up charge. I caught him on that one. My initial bill for four of the group was north of 600 euros. The remaining three of our group has no starters and ordered simple pasta dishes and their bill was 133 euro. Their pasta was cold and they disliked it. After a loud altercation with the owner, he lowered the bill to 450 euro for my group. The bill by the way is gibberish. There is no itemization of what was ordered. I am sure you are charged by what owner thinks he can get away with. Avoid at all costs. Gives Milano a bad name.

Yelp
Went on a Friday not, about 9. Restaurant was about 2/3 full. Seated promptly, but took a while before a waiter arrived. Great wine list price from about 20 euros to 100s. Ordered nice Valpolicella (30 euros) starter and main. Started gnocchi in pumpkin sauce was excellent. Breads were good, but not olive oil served with them. Mains were squid and veal cutlet. Squid was grilled, but bland and served with tomato dice and arugula, at best ok. Veal parm was served, but not what we ordered (braised veal shoulder) ,we kept it since we were tired. It was dry and almost tasteless. SO did not finish. Ordered a desert wine and coffee, wine came but not the coffee. Meal was not cheap more than 100 euros. Big disappointment given the reviews here.

Yelp
Il Solferino is a very good restaurant. Extensive menu, reasonable-if-not-cheap value for money, and a very good -- arguably outstanding -- staff. Anyone can find something they like in here. It fills up fast, so reservations are strongly recommended. No specific need to comment on the food, as others have and I am in pretty strong agreement with all the positive comments. Likewise with wine. We were a group of four, so had plenty of dishes to sample. All were great. A nod to the staff and service levels -- we asked about one appetiser that looked "interesting", and the waiter frowned and suggested a different item which was cheaper than the one we had asked about, and outstanding. It is definitely worth getting their views on what is especially good on any particular day, as they won't steer you wrong.

Yelp
AMAZING! This is by far one of the best places to eat in Milan. The staff is wonderful and the food is fantastic!

Yelp
SCAM ALERT!!! We asked the Concierge at our 5 star hotel for a local place serving simple amazing food. When we walked in, to our surprise we found the restaurant completely full of tourists including another couple we saw earlier at our hotel. There was not a single Italian person in the restaurant and it was clearly a tourist-class restaurant, not a place locals go for simple food. Similar to many restaurants in Milan, they display a basket of "fresh produce" at the entrance and encourage you to add or order from tonights ingredient which was mushrooms. We ordered two starters fried mushrooms in oil, mozzarella and two pasta dishes squid and risotto and a bottle of wine. The food was bland and just ok. The scam is realized when you ask for the check, as the process appears the waiter gives his handwritten slip that looked legible as he used for the kitchen, to the boss who spends 10 min re-writing the check onto a new piece of paper in a completely illegible manner. There were 5 lines written that could not be read so we asked for an explanation. First charge was an 8 euro "linen fee" for the tablecloth. In our 5 days of eating out in Milan for 3 meals a day I had never seen this fee but just left it alone. The next line was the sum of the two starters together which was 40 euro for those "special mushrooms" and mozzarella. The mozzarella was priced under 15 euro on the menus but the SCAM mushrooms were a special that were not listed and we never asked the price. So we paid 25 euro for 4 mushroom caps fried in oil, INCREDIBLE. Overall check was 144 euro for a "simple, local" restaurant. STAY AWAY, THIS PLACE IS A TOURIST TRAP

Yelp
had a very nice meal while traveling solo in Milan. while the decor is formal, the greeting when I asked for a table was friendly, and the service helpful. good affordable wine by the glass, great pasta. I might just skip the appetizers (octopus was a bit bland) next time or go for something more simple like their homemade liver pate. it did not feel touristy or overpriced (for Milan) to me--they only charged me for one of my two glasses of wine, and total was $50 euros.

Michael P.

Yelp
Excellent choice for our first night in Milan. Comfortable setting, fantastic service. Enjoyed eggplant starter, then the dish of the night (maybe of the trip) was ravioli with fresh fish an a saffron sauce. The veal milanese is nicely prepared. Make reservations if eating after 8.

Marc S.

Yelp
We wanted a traditional Milanese dinner and were directed to Solferino by the concierge at our 5 star hotel. It was a great find. We were the only tourists there as it was filled on a Monday night with locals. The wine list is extensive. I asked for a bottle of Brunello which was out of stock but the waiter recommended another which was exactly the same price when we received our bill. The staff made up an antipasto with the substitution of one kind of ham for another as I requested. Wife's first course was zucca ravioli in sage butter. The cotoletto Milanese and osso buco, the house specialty, were exquisite.

Miguel F.

Yelp
Where recommended to this place by the concierge at the park Hyatt after asking for a good traditional restaurant for lunch. The dining room is tastefully decorated, and looks very Milanese . However the pricing and quality reveal this is a tourist trap. We were charged 25 euro for a glass of wine and a diet coke, by the owner without any warning ..... But our biggest surprise was with the white truffles dishes-we ordered a risotto and mashed potato (15 euro each) plus 40 euro each for the truffles!! Total per dish 55 euro, when at other similar restaurants the price is 30-35! Not surprising the price was not on the menu, and that most customers were speaking English. To top our touristic ride, the bill was brought in an illegible hand written receipt. After asking the owner for a proper bill and explanations, the waiter came back with another hand made bill with a date and invoice number, which apparently fits the legal tax requirements. In conclusion this is a well camouflaged tourist trap that is being recommended by some hotel concierges.
