Ok, so let me break this down for you. Here are things you should understand about the Solita SoHo.
First, it is what they call a "boutique" hotel. "Boutique" means small. Cute, but SMALL.
The lobby is sexy in that NY minimalist kind of way. Glass, marbled floors, small benches to sit on, silver trimmed desk and walls, and NOTHING else.
Staff were ALL very, very friendly, helpful, and accommodating.
The rooms are TINY. The "double" beds are more like "large" twins.
There is NO room to move around in the room. NONE. If one person is up, the other has to sit or be in the bathroom.
Oh, the bathroom- GREAT double headed shower- NIIIICE!
Back to it. If you are staying here with your significant other, you will be fine space wise, provided one of you doesn't have excessive luggage- there is NO place to put it. Really. There is a tiny armoire, but you're not going to get much in there.
If you are a large person and you are traveling with a large person, you're gonna be cozy. If you are traveling with a platonic friend that you know well, you'll be close and personal. This is NOT the place to stay if you are going to a conference and have been randomly assigned a roommate. You will be MISERABLE. Also, don't let ANYONE tell you that 4 people of ANY size can fit into these rooms- NOT gonna happen.
The rooms are neat, clean, sexy silver and black appointments, flat screen tv (NO CABLE), internet access (not wireless), and you get an iron, ironing board, clock radio and coffee maker.
It's noisy. Noise from the street, noise from the elevator room, and INCREDIBLY noisy plumbing, but it's ok. You can tune all that out. If you're a feather light sleeper, this may not work for you.
You're located about a block from Little Italy, and two blocks from Chinatown. You're three blocks from Broadway in SoHo. GREAT LOCATION. You can get a train easily, and cabs are plentiful.
I liked it, I'll be back. You should try them, just remember the tips I gave you.
P.S. the windows are NOT tinted, so if you lift the shades and wonder if the people in the deli directly across the street can see you PERFECTLY CLEARLY- they CAN. They don't really care what you're doing or how you're doing it, but umm, they CAN see you!
