Google
Super friendly place with excellent tamales and other fare! The service was excellent and authentic, I'll definitely be back!

Google
Well once again we have been disappointed 😞! Just seems like no one cares about the quality and taste of their food anymore. The worst Tamales I've ever had. This place use to be good but not now. And what is that in the inside of the Tamale 🫔 🤔??? Seasoned meal 🤔. We should have taken it back but we trashed 🗑 it instead! I hate wasting my money on stuff that no love was put in.......

Google
Doesn’t get any better than this!!! Just a quick stop off and it was Fantastic. The service was so kind and good. Great conversations. Just our kinda place.

Google
Very old establishment. It is exactly what it says it is. Tamales are small, but pack a punch. These are the ground beef tamales. My wife is from Vicksburg and eaten here since a child. Street parking, moderately busy when we were there. Dozen tamales priced about what you pay anywhere. Tamales arebl labor intensive to make . Well worth a visit!

Google
What a place with a long and terrific history! Looks like not much has changed in this store in decades! Extremely yummy Delta style tamales with saltines and hot sauce. It just doesn't get much better. Service was a little "stiff upper lip", but worth it 💯.

Google
Oh, we love this place! It's a great slice of regional cuisine, the tamales are not like what you get in Texas, but they are so tasty. The staff is always attentive and friendly.

Google
While there are a number of other items on the menu I went for… the… tamales! Started with 3, and quickly ordered 3 more. They were delicious and 6 = $6. You can’t beat that with a stick. Only a couple tables for dinning in. Great sweet tea. Everyone was very friendly. If I’m back in town, I’ll be sure to stop by.

Yelp
We stopped by Solly's hot tamales to pick up some to go items for later in the day---with each tamale costing less than a dollar, you can't go wrong for a quick bite.

Yelp
Hot Tamale Trail - Stop #4/12 Oh No - Closed today! I believe I missed a gem today. So sorry that I missed the "World Famous" Solly's Hot Tamales....

Yelp
Solly's is a great hidden gem that you might drive past if you aren't paying attention. The establishment is certainly more on the dive end of the spectrum in every good way but they also have an impressive history with a lot of interesting news stories hanging on the walls about Solly's going quite a ways back. They apparently are quite a popular place in the area and beyond as they also offer shipping of their tamales. Their tamales are the "Delta" style that are quite popular all down the Mississippi River Delta and Solly's are quite a tasty version. Solly's also offers a menu of some other Mexican/Latin style food with some burgers & hot dogs while their chili cheese burrito has some very good flavors that were quite enjoyable to partake in leaving me with a strong desire of wanting another one. Overall this is certainly a classic piece of the South that is worthy of a visit that will also fill your belly at a great value.

Yelp
Great little sleeper spot for awesome hot tamales. Been around for quite some time right there in Vicksburg, MS. Enjoyed the town and the quaintness. Charming. Ordered a dozen hoping to have some for later but ended up polishing them all off on my 4 hour drive.

Yelp
Starving after a morning and afternoon visiting the battlefield, and the tamales really hit the spot. Truly delicious. I dined in and then got a dozen for the road.

Yelp
If I weren't from Mississippi, I probably wouldn't have walked inside this building. But having grown up here, I know the best food isn't always found in the nicest package. The food was great. Had a chili burger and hot tamales. The prices were low and the flavor was high. Definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
Fantastic tamales and service. Definitely try the burritos - my favorite! Will come back next time we're in Vicksburg.

Yelp
As far as tamales goes, these are about as good as it gets. Perfect amount of spice, thin coating of masa, and packed with flavor. They also have a really good chili cheeseburger.

Yelp
Ok, this is a hole in the wall place. We were told to come here by a friend. Followed the GPS to get here. They have a tiny sign outside this plain looking white building. So after you find this place, go up to the counter and just order the tamales. They have other stuff listed but don't waste your time. Get the tamales. They come out fast and they are amazing. They also serve them with saltine crackers and Tabasco sauce. I could have eaten 12 of them. Also they have lemonade pops which are just frozen lemonade in a little cup AND they also have... wait for it... pickle pops! That is frozen pickle juice with a little pickle inside. Lol so good! Also the prices are crazy. It's so cheap it's almost free! They close early so don't miss this place!

Yelp
This is a "blink-and-you'll-miss-it" little shop on the drag heading into downtown Vicksburg, but they'll give ya a dozen tamales for less than a buck a pop and see you out the door with a "Y'all come back soon now!". Truth be told, my wife likes the tamales from a different place, but I like these. They're a bit more solid, in my opinion. The shop looks like they haven't changed the decor or furniture since about.... oh, 1962 or so, but I like it.

Angela G.

Yelp
Wonderful Delta tamales! We also tried the chili hamburger and chili dog. So good! We always try to stop on our way through.

Yelp
I don't know what to say about Sollys that hasn't been said already - these tamales are delicious! We're from Arizona and can get good tamales just about anywhere. But the Mississippi tamales are different. Smaller, coated in a cornmeal exterior and done up with a great chopped meat mixture and sauce. Hot, fresh, and yummy. These people have been doing this for over 60 years and know what they are doing. Don't be afraid to pop in for tamales, frito pie, home-done cookies, clean restrooms, and tons of friendliness from behind the counter. Loved it.

Yelp
There's nothing to complain about with Sollys. The masa coating on the tamales was so moist it just melted/crumbled in your mouth and the ground beef filling had a nice kick to it. All the flavors melded together and I plowed my way through 6 of them. Just know that they're really thin tamales so 2 of these would make 1 of the size I'm used to but at the prices they charge you can eat as many as you want they're so affordable. Food comes out so hot that you have to be careful not to burn yourself. I don't see that in a lot of places so shoutout to Sollys for that. The service was very genuine and attentive, the man in the kitchen (didn't catch his name) came out to chat with us while we ate and he made us feel very welcome. Loved eating here.

Yelp
This places has good, even if not spectacular tamales. I actually really liked their house made chili sauce. The burger patty for the chili burger was basic, likely processed. The chili hotdog was quite good though. If I did it again, I would do 3-6 Tamales, a chili dog, and a bowl of house chili. That's how I'd play.

Yelp
We were going to stop for some fast food but this place popped up. I'm so glad it did. The tamales are so delicious, the best I've ever had, and it's cheaper than fast food! Such a special place. We had to get a dozen to go.
google avatar

Rick N.

Yelp
The absolute best tamales I have ever had. And that includes living next door to Tijuana, Mexico for 6 years. Well worth the drive! Go here not the other "Tamale Place" in Vicksburg.
google avatar

Sabrina G.

Yelp
This is a hole in the wall place that all the locals know about. The tamales aren't traditional Mexican tamales, but they are really good. I got the tamale burrito, and I recommend it. It was delicious! And the sweet tea is worth a sip, too. Go support your local restaurant.

Yelp
My motorcycle trip down The Mississippi Delta had to Stop at Solly's Tamales. Great nachos and some of the finest tasting tamales that I've had. So if your heading thru Mississippi and around Vicksburg you owe it to yourself to stop in Solly's Tamales for some fine tasty food. Tell them DW sent you!

Yelp
Heard about this place via The Travel Channels, Andrew Zimmerman's suggestion. Well, when you walk in this place, it looks like your walking into an old house which is quite cute. There are newspaper clippings and other accolades on the wall to convince you how great this place is and the menu selection and price are pretty reasonable. That is UNTIL, you get the food. Now the main staple, Tamales, are quite tasty. Anything other than that (i.e. Nachos, pulled pork burger, jalapeno poppers, Fiesta nachos, etc.) have the same quality and taste to that of the vendors that sell food at my kids little league game. Pre-cooked frozen items that are warmed in the microwave along with nachos that consist of Kroger brand bagged chips and "from the pump" nacho cheese just flat out stunk. Having something that is really tasty paired with sub par food was a bit perplexing. But the staff was top notch and super friendly, so all in all, this place was confusing.

Yelp
Good tamales. They didn't knock my socks off but they were cheap and tasty. I also ordered frito pie because it was $3. My first few bites were like a blast to the past and comforting and reminiscent and all that. But then it wore off and it was just ok and gave me a stomach ache. I will say I didn't think they were the friendliest bunch there, just nice enough. I guess overall, it was just ok for me.
google avatar

Shelley Y.

Yelp
Really good tamales. They haven't concerned themselves with decorating but they don't need to. They are the real deal.
google avatar

Yelp
Great little hole in the wall. We tried both tamale places in Vicksburg and Sollys is number one. We will be back

Yelp
This place is the epitome of a hole in the wall place to eat. The food is completely authentic and the young woman who helped me was patient and very considerate to a person who clearly was uninformed about southern food. Tamales and fried dill pickles are definitely not health food but you should come to Solly's for true southern food in a very casual setting.

Yelp
I had the tamale burrito, it was awesome. Best dive restaurant ever! My son it a city boy from Dallas, he was petrified, poor snowflake!

Yelp
My son and I just left this place and I am NOT disappointed...I've lived here since 2009 and this is my first time trying Sollys...I didn't leave the parking lot without tasting a tamale first, and I didn't leave until I had about 3 of them! My son got the frito pie and it was also delicious...takes me back to my childhood days...the young lady at the counter was very pleasant also...I think I have a new addiction spot

Yelp
From Austin, Texas so I know good tamales. We are heading to Huntsville, AL and stopped at this place, sure glad we did. Great frito pies, can't beat the price of $3 and the tamales are some of the best I've ever had! A definite hole in the wall, and worth the stop if you are traveling through!!

Jake L.

Yelp
These are the Tamales I compare all others too. I don't dine in, we pick them up and eat at home. The standard for a Delta Tamale !

Budding B.

Yelp
While visiting Vicksburg today, My colleagues and I stopped in to have the tamales and burritos. Both the tamales and the burritos were extremely greasy. You could not see any remnants of meat in the tamales. One of my colleagues requested a refill on their tea. The waitress brought the tea out in a single serving plastic cheap water bottle from H and R tax services and the outside of the bittle was greasy. We were disgusted. The 5's this restaurant received on Yelp were deceiving. Don't waste your money here.

Yelp
Very much on point! These are the best hot tamales around. Seasoned just right and delicious. You can eat there or take out. If you take out, get double the amount you need and freeze half. They heat up well and are so very good.

Dan S.

Yelp
The place is built like a public bathroom. They focus on the food for sure. My first tamale and it was awesome. Good people working there.

Yelp
This review was sitting in my draft box, but it still applies! Delicious tamales, and friendly service. This is a family owned business serving tamales hot and fresh. We even bought 5 dozen to take home. Yum! Next time we are in town, we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Rustic setting; Unique food! Dean (owner) will make you feel like family. Love it. Tamale burrito and chili cheese nachos are my faves! But I also like he Solly's chili cheeseburger and the fiesta! It's all so good! Tamales are the best I've ever had!
google avatar

Mesha M.

Yelp
Best food in Vicksburg services was great nice family oriented and just a nice spot for a quick bite to eat love the tamales and mozzarella sticks chicken sandwich so much more!!!

Greg H.

Yelp
Excellent hot tamales. Nice friendly place to go. I certainly plan to visit Sollys again!

Sara J.

Yelp
It was worth getting off the interstate to enjoy lunch in Vicksburg! A "hole in the wall" spot with delicious tamales and friendly service! We even bought a dozen frozen tamales to take home.
google avatar

Yelp
Right on Washington St, you have to look or you will miss them, but they have the best tamales in the delta. Quaint little place with only four tables but the best tamales and don't forget the fiesta. Refried beans, Tamales, Solly's chili (not your ordinary chili), onions, cheese, jalapenos, sour cream and salsa...With tortilla chips on the side....And the company is good as well, Solly's comes with a story. Dean, the owner is almost always there, she will let you in on the story with all of it's wonderful history.

Yelp
Best tamales ever. Family owned and operated ..ship nation wide. Made from scratch and offer different types of food.
