Solo Singer Hotel 賓城旅社

Curiosities abound throughout the property. From the gold and red calendar and staff photo albums in the entry hall to sheep figurines in our room, there are artistic and thoughtful touches everywhere. The staff take great pride in the place. They are helpful without being pushy, always interested to help you find local fare and sights that fit your tastes. Everyone speaks English well-enough to make this a great place for those with no or limited Mandarin. They were responsive and adjusted to last-minute changes in our plans without hassle. We stayed in a second floor room with a comfortable bed and a terrific shower (water pressure!). Be sure to check out the reading room and patio/hideaway nooks on the room. There is a public refrigerator and microwave on the main floor. You can buy a can of local beer for 50 NTD. Breakfast is offered one door down at the Solo Single Cafe. They easily accommodated vegetarians. The meal was more than sufficient to start the day. We only saw "Life" in passing, but hope to have more time with him/her on our next visit.

Lovely small hotel. Each room has a story of it's design concept, shared by the contributing artist. Quiet back street. Lovely staff. Great cafe. Take advantage of the tea experience. We weren't crazy about the Taiwanese breakfast, which felt a bit wasteful.

It's a hidden gem. It's not close to the major attractions in Taipei, but it's not too far from the light rail station which can take you downtown. The boys and girls who work there are friendly and helpful. The place can be hard to find if you arrive by taxi, which was our case. But once you arrive, you will have no problem finding your way back. There are many local restaurants nearby so you will never run out of option. The room was clean, though not spacious. The second level can be challenging if you have mobility issue. Make sure you ask for ground level rooms. But the staff members try their best to help you. The atmosphere is wonderful. Would recommend and would stay again.

Great off the beaten track place. Rooms can be on smaller side but this is a character place. Clean and tidy. They have a side cafe that is relaxing to chill at night and play some games. Breakfast is traditional Taiwanese. Super close to the Beitou Market. AC worked great and the employees are super nice and helpful!

Awesome place to stay at in Beitou. The rooms are all deaugnwd by individual artists. Super lovely hosts. You can read the history of the design if your room in the little booklet you find in your room. Each room has a private bathroom. There is a lovely reading room on each floor. We had a super cute and lovely personalised note welcoming us in our room. There is complimentary tea and cookies. Lots of books to read. And breakfast is served in their cute nearby cafe. We also had a free tea ceremony in their cafe. Super stay! Highly recommended. Very close to the local thermal bath.

Such a quaint little place. The staff are super friendly, always on hand to give advice and recommendations. The decor is very special - they manage to keep a lot of old and vintage pieces around without making the place look cluttered. The rooms are kept very clean. I highly recommend this place to travellers who want to stay away from the tourist crowds and take it slow.

The most charming comfortable place we have ever stayed in Taiwan. We love our room, the staff, the breakfast, everything. Breakfast changes every morning so you can experience different things. Room is very clean and it has been very quiet at night. The Solo Singer is in a kind of back alley so there isn't much street noise despite being in the heart of Beitou. I highly recommend the solo singer.

One of the loveliest hostels I've been too. The place is very well kept and the neighbourhood very local and calm. They also have a sister cafe nearby, which is just as nice. Beverages are good. The locals are very nice, they even invited us to join their BBQ.
