The most horrible place -avoid this hotel! it si dirty, bad smell, small and very, very tiny bath and rude employees and manager, not speaking English. Totally unprofessional! Most of all, they don’t respect the rules for check-out, they obliged us to stay 1 more night to make the check-out. What can I say more-they actually stollen my money from my pocket.

Location is good. In city center, close to railway station. ||For the rest it was a terrible experience. I booked a room for two persons and ended up in a narrow one person room with a stretcher as an extra bed. The bathroom was hell. Toilet and shower in a closet. I was upset and angry and asked for another room which was not available. I told the owner he could't sell such a room for the price he asked. He made a gesture by paying me back the difference between a double room and a single room. Still we didn't want to stay in this hotel.||Because it was the most busy weekend of the year in Karlstad (footballmatch) it took me a long time to find another hotel. We ended up in the Clarion Hotel in two single rooms.||Think twice before you book this hotel.

I've been to Karlstad around 30 times, but never stayed at Solsta. Being a 3-star hotel in Sweden, it should be ok. So I thought...| |- The room (219) seemed ok at first, but when I had a look at the bathroom, I was quite surprised. The size was about 1,5 m2, shabby and with an unfresh smell. On top of this, you need to flip a room divider to mount the shower. See pics. Sitting on the loo, you have your head in the sink. This is truly the worst bathroom I've ever experienced. | - When I arrived, there were no towels in the room. | - The bed was ok, but it wasn't exactly delcious when I turned the top mattress. (See pic.)| - On day two, when I returned from a long trip on the fabulous Klarälvsbanan, the bed was not made - a first time experience for me. (I left at noon.)| - When showering, I ran out of soap. (The dispenser didn't look empty so I didn't bother to ask for a refill earlier.) The hotel staff is not present in the evenings, so I couldn't get a refill. I had to take down the soap dispenser and turn it upside down to get enough soap for my shower. | - The rooms on my side are facing Drottninggatan. It can be a bit noisy in the weekend, especially when the bars close (2 am). I stayed from Friday till Sunday. | - Another interesting detail: The outlets in the room have the same standard as the bathroom; My cell phone charger kept falling out of the outlet because it wasn't tight enough. | |"You get what you pay for", you might think. That's not true in this case. Solsta isn't significantly cheaper than the other 3-stars, but the standard is MUCH poorer. Unfortunately, I chose to save SEK 300,- and went for Solsta. I paid NOK 1400,- (equals SEK 1500,-) for two nights. | |It's supposed to be a 3-star accomodation, but this is definitely not a 3-star hotel in Scandinavian terms. I've stayed at several other 3-star hotels in Karlstad, and they are all in another league than Solsta. | |They actually have pictures of the lousy bathrooms on their website, but I didn't do any research before booking. (Considering 3 stars and the price, it shouldn't be necessary.)| |+ Nice and welcoming staff|+ Simple but ok breakfast|+ Fridge/minibar in the room|+ Central location ||PS! Someone commented it was a bit hard to find the hotel. It's not really - though they don't have a big sign. It's next door from Stadium and right across the street from O'Learys.

It is the worst hotel. No linens, no bed sheets, no iron, no reception, no towels and no Wifi password.
