Great taqueria! 🌮 Strip mall taco joints can be sketchy, but they’re legit! Fast, friendly service & yummy food 🤤 this time I got a $10.99 Fiesta meal, which comes with a 🌮 taco, “mini” 🌯 burrito, chips & 🥤 drink. Their salsa bar is perfect & love that they have salsa fresca! Enough for two meals.

Service is as a 5/10, the food 1/10 cheeses tasted like fridge, chips where way to big.. also they are supposed to be supreme but it looked just like regular serving, meat tasted bagged not fresh… over all for 19$ not worth it. But it’s in a beautiful location.

California Surpreme burrito was fantastic. Cooked and served fresh. Employee was really nice and supervisor was training and managing new employee very professionally. It’s been a few years since I’ve been here but it tastes just as good as I remember!

Hands down, Sombreros isn't just my favorite Mexican spot in San Diego, it's my absolute favorite restaurant overall! This particular location truly stands out as the best I've found. It's incredibly refreshing to discover a place that offers consistently hot, incredibly tasty, and genuinely high-quality food without breaking the bank. The fact that it's always clean is just the icing on the cake, making it a rare gem. Top-notch experience every time!

The food is very good here. I did enjoyed the atmosphere, plenty of seating inside or outside and a good salsa bar. The staff was very nice too.

I always buy the food here, it's very good, but I don't know if they changed cooks because the portions are very small.

Sombrero Mexican Food has locations throughout San Diego. I stopped in after a meeting to grab a quick bite. The food is good and the service is great. If you have a craving or need to grab lunch - this is a great place.

Always a good flavor on everything I have ordered. Place always clean and rewards program. Uff always get a churro with cream filling as a reward and on my birthday I get a free burrito! Love this place

Stopped by for a quick lunch. Service was quick and friendly. There was a steady pace of people ordering to go and also eating in. I tried something new from my usual burrito order and the carne asada burrito was yummy. Tried the green salsa for the burrito and red salsa for the complimentary chips. The chips were awful and over cooked with a burnt taste. I asked to exchange them but unfortunately that's what they served everyone. There's plenty of seating both inside and out. Parking was easy too.

Located in Mission Valley shopping center, 8590 Rio San Diego Drive, SD CA. Many restaurants and stores near by and there is also Urgent care. Plenty of parking in this shopping center. This Sombrero is pretty clean; decent size, plenty of table and seats. They have a salsa bar as well. The salsa is on the weak side, pretty watery and no flavor for me. This spot is good for their breakfast burritos and basic burrito/tacos/dishes. They do have daily specials as well. Customer service is decent.

I placed my order at the Sombrero Mexican Restaurant in Mission Valley, CA. My order was The Fiesta Deal price was on sale for $10.99. My order includes a crispy shredded chicken taco with shredded lettuce and shredded cheese. Fried chips and a HUGE Bean, shredded Beef and Cheese Burrito. It also included a regular size soft drink. I chose the FUZE Raspberry Iced Tea. Everything I have eaten this Mexican Food at the Sombrero Mexican Restaurant. I recommend this Sombrero Mexican Restaurant,

The food is delicious and they're generous on their guacamole. Everything is fresh. I recommend the beef rolled tacos. Carne asada burrito so good. I will return.

I live close by the Mission Valley restaurant and eat here about 10 meals/week. Between the breakfast burritos and the regular menu, the food is fresh and delicious. I am a salsa snob, and their chunky salsa is absolutely THE BEST with chips.

Food was delicious, service was very cool. I arrived two minutes early for a pickup. It was ready 4 minutes later and the staff added extra condiments due to waiting. Was not needed, but was added bonus. Very good customer service; I will order again.

Came here on a busy lunch hour & didn't spend more than three minutes in the drive thru start to finish. Unfortunately while I was sitting at the ordering speaker two gentlemen decided that was a perfect spot for their cigarette smoking session (on the white brick wall) & all their smoke was getting into my car while ordering. Normally wouldn't complain but I'm currently pregnant & had my toddler son in the car with me breathing in the secondhand smoke while ordering. Ordered the two cheese enchiladas combo plate along with a carne asada burrito. Everything came out delicious! Next time I'll opt to go inside if I see anyone on the brick wall again.

I had this place a few weeks ago and the food was delicious. I decided to come back and get more food. This place is very good and I love the salsa bar. The staff is very nice and the restaurant is kept clean. This is my new favorite place.

I'm surprised that Sombrero got sort of low reviews because I really enjoyed myself there. The person that was working at the counter was super sweet. The burrito I got was humongous. It fed three of us. The chips were delicious. They had all sorts of different sauces at the sauce bar I don't know why people didn't give it a better review. Sure it's kind of not very fancy and a little bit cold inside, but the girl was keeping it clean and I liked it.

Let me tell you: Sombrero slaps. The burritos are huge and delicious. Very clean location in a strip mall by the Homegoods with friendly staff.

This restaurant has a drive thru which is a plus! I ordered their bean and cheese burrito and loved it! Tasted homemade! The workers here are friendly and happy to serve you. Clean restaurant from the outside view. Will have to dine in next time I come.

The FOOD is ALWAYS TOP NOTCH! I love their Burritos & their fresh house salsa! The SERVICE is FRIENDLY & the atmosphere is upbeat, warm & inviting! They are open early & extra late so you can enjo the full menu before, during lunch or after work, as well as on your days out with family, friends & coworkers! Never a bad experience! :)

3.5 stars for the California burrito, which is Carne Asada, french fries, cheese, and some pico de gallo. The meat is slightly overcooked and makes the burrito on the dry side. Also would like Carne asada instead of fries. big burrito and heavy. 5 stars for chili Verde burrito which has lots of great flavors in the green sauce and goes really well with the chunks of pork. It is same price as California burrito but smaller. Enjoy side of chips that come with burrito. Help yourself to salsa bar. Fast service.

Terrible machaca breakfast burrito. Beef had no flavor or seasonings and the eggs were over cooked and very dry and brown and crusty. I prefer my eggs yellow and fluffy and moist, not dry and crusty.

Staff is extremely disorganized and food wasn't worth the wait! Definitely don't recommend.

Honestly the best breakfast burrito I've had in a while!! All the cheddar cheese and then their salsa with it, SO GOOD!! I've been dreaming about it since I had it. Will definitely be back

My Go-To Burrito Spot I love everything on the menu here and especially if on on the go or on my 30 minute lunch, they satisfy my appetite each time! I'm a big fan of the Surf n Turf Fries and the Grande Tostadas and everytime I order it, it checks off all my boxes. Definitely look into signing up for rewards for some free tacos or burritos, especially on your birthday cause it will be free for you and that's always fun to have.

Very good authentic Mexican food, menudo is very good, my favorite chili verde burrito and plate are the best. Just spicy enough to satisfy the taste buds

$13.78 A grade Jumbo Deluxe Ham and Bacon Breakfast Burrito with cheese and potatoes. If only they had a signature salsa they would be hard to beat but all three of their salsas are average and the hottest choice they have it's not spicy at all.

This is my go to place! It's consistently delicious and on point! The staff is also always friendly! I highly recommend!

Okay, short story long :D. I went to Navy Fed to open an account for a lotta reasons but that's not the story here. I am used to Sombrero's as they are in South Park, a mile from where my husband and I live. I've been going to that location for 20 years. I saw this Sombrero's and decided to grab my favorite bean, rice and pico, guacamole burrito. The cleanliness blew me away and how modern it is compared to the one in South Park. It's the same great customer service. It's just different. Even the quality of the burrito was 100 times better. While I was eating there, I was watching them get swamped with people walking in, they handled the crowds like pros, opening a second register (I am looking at you South Park Sombreros) and got people's orders chugging along. Final verdict: fresh good food with generous helpings, great salsa bar, clean, modern, and fantastic service. South Park Sombreros needs to revamp and up its game regarding its food quality. Next time I go to Total Wine or Navy Fed, I'll get a burrito.

Convenient location with great service and delicious and generous portions. We stopped by last weekend for takeout - early lunch. The line moved quickly and the wait was short. We ordered carne asada super nachos and a fish burrito for lunch and a dozen tamales for later. The nachos and burrito were both really tasty and too much food for the three of us. The beef and the cheese tamales were delicious and we will heat up the pineapple ones today. Generous portions and very reasonable prices; we love Sombreros.

The Fiesta Plate is really good. I had the beef taco with a bean burrito with cheese, chips and a drink.

Me and my family took the food to go and the salsa and chips are really good! The bean and cheese burrito is very simple but it's a classic so it is really good . The girl working at the cash register was very nice; right after we ordered we grabbed salsa and the food was already ready to go. The ambiance is very Mexican in a good way, they had some ballon's out that said "fiesta"

Their food is good but they NEVER get the order right. Got some breakfast burritos and mine was egg, cheese, no potato, add beans & add French fries. I got an egg burrito with a tone of onions. Call to complain and no one answers. Asked for 8 salsa, got 4. I paid $15.00 for a Terrible egg & entire onion breakfast burrito with a Kiss of cheese

Horrible, didn't even have guac and surf and turf is not suppose to look like this! . They only put 3 shrimps in it too like whata heck man. It's like the cook didn't even try making it.

It was 930pm on a Thursday night and I needed a snack after going out for drinks. I saw Sombrero and haven't been there in years. Now, I remember why. It's on the mediocre end of fast Mexicna food. For $12, I ordered medium carne asada fries supreme. For about $1 you get sour cream and guacamole. Most places include it in the price. I ordered extra crispy fries, but it was actually soggy and pale fries. Portion size was OK, but definitely felt frugal for the price. If you are in MV and need a late night snack, I recommend Sombrero--clean and plenty of parking.

It has been years since I ate at a Sombrero Taco Shop. To be honest, I didn't really care for them back in the days. But we were given a gift card to Sombrero so I wanted to use it. And boy am I glade we did. The Mission Valley location looks exactly the same as 10 years ago. But the food has changed. Everyone in my family loved what they ordered. The food was served fresh and made quick. Hands down better than we expected and we were all in agreement that it was even better than our local taco shop in Mira Mesa. If there was a location closer to us, this might become a new regular spot. I had a breakfast burrito that was packed full of eggs, ham and cheese. My wife had a beef tostada. My kids had carne asada quesadilla and a California Burrito. We normally have leftovers when we go to the taco shop...but not this time. Everyone pushed themselves to finish....it was that good! We also shared an order of the Shrimp Cali Fries. Which is basically carne asada fries with shrimp....SOOOOOO good! If you haven't been here in a while, I would recommend checking it out. The quality of the food is good.

Just purchased chicken chimichanga, white breast only , the entire burrito was bean beans, tortilla, tortilla and some dark meat chicken. Also took it to go, a waste of money....

I ordered a Carne Asada Fries off of DoorDash and i did not have any meat in my order I called from this establishment named sombreros Mexican food on friars road the cashier/server named Lizette lied and said her name was Lisa which was a obvious lie I told her about my food containing no meat what so ever keep in mind these are carne asada fries i was very disappointed I even called the store and they lied and said my order was not in their system but when I asked if this was the location on the DoorDash they said yes this is that location they continuously lied saying they were not who they really were which made me furious I was not satisfied I was forced to eat fries and lettuce I do not recommend at all I wanted a refund and they told me call DoorDash very unprofessional

Love the food, happy service, I feel like good taco shops are disappearing, either due to food or awful people working there, but this place has been constant. Enjoyed the decor and the pictures on the wall. We've been eating here for a good 30 years.

Food is very good, although my friend asked to get charged for extra sour cream, and didn't end up getting extra sour cream.

Cali Buffalo Chicke Burrito with fries, shredded cheese, and I passed on the ranch or was good. The combo includes some chips and a drink with free refills I opted for orange whip. $13.13. Seating inside and outside. Parking lot. A xouple of small tv's and music. Good service.

Food and service is awesome. I have been a loyal customer since 2018. The employees are polite, courteous, and always willing to make recommendations. They keep the place of business very clean.

Consistent good food and prices. Our go to for Mexican food pick up orders. My favorites here are the beef rolled tacos with sour cream, lettuce and guacamole, bean and cheese burrito. I also like the hot carrots and house made tortilla chips and salsa they give with your order. Their green salsa is mild and flavorful, so good! Hubs likes their carne asada and says it hits the spot. Come give them a try!
