We’ve had a 4 night stay at Somerset Grand Hanoi and it has been absolutely wonderful. The staff here have been so welcoming and very very kind. ||We had a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms, lounge & and kitchen with washing machine. All very modern and clean amenities. ||The facilities are fabulous also. Huge outdoor pool, saunas, ping pong table and pool table, a playground dedicated for smaller children, and access to the Pickleball club right next door. ||I would have no hesitation to book this hotel again, it has been perfect for our family. The distance to the Old Quarter is a bit of a distance m, but has still been manageable walking with our two children 7 & 10. Whenever the heat has been too much we have easily booked a Grab car, which is an incredibly cheap way to get from place to place.

The location provides a respite from the hustle and bustle of the Old Quarters and sightseeing. It was nice to be able to walk to where we wanted to go, and also be able to discover local sights and sounds as we made our way. We ordered a car via Grab when it rained or when we got lazy and it was affordable and convenient. The apartment itself was great - clean and spacious for the 2 of us because we booked a 2-bedroom executive. It could have easily accommodated 4 persons. A water dispenser was included in the room, which was nice, because it meant we did not have to lug bottles of water back to the room. We didn’t have much to do with the front office other than have them help with a reservation and check-in / out and the experience was as expected. Some may be sensitive to the noise of sirens due to the nearby hospital but it did not happen often so it did not bother me too much. A good base from which to visit the city centre from.

We visited Hanoi for the first time as an extended family of 11. Overall I’m satisfied with the hotel and will recommend to others. You can pass on the little supermarket next to the hotel. It’s almost like a low end version of 7-11 but much bigger if this makes sense…||Pros:|- Great location approximately 15 mins walk to the Old Quarter. We wanted something slightly away from the busiest area.|- Very reasonably priced accommodation with spacious rooms, kitchen, living and dining area.|- I love the in room laundry. A must in Vietnam! I wish it wasn’t a washer/dryer in one. |- Swimming pool was a nice touch for the little ones in hot humid weather.||Cons:|- Hotel is definitely aging. It is not closed to a 5 star but still a great option at this price point.

Wonderful facilities. Rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. The restaurant had a wonderful assortment of food and the rooms had plenty of water that was cold. The pool was beautiful - 25 m with lane lines, and Jacuzzi, but most importantly the pool staff was incredibly attentive and caring. Johnny Nam was his name and his interactions and encouragement with the kids was wonderful!

Perfect for our family of 4 adults. An easy walk into the Old Quarter while not feeling hemmed in. Loved the convenience of the mini-mart in the small adjoining shopping centre as well as the excellent Japanese restaurant. Used the washing machine twice - a benefit of a serviced apartment. Definitely preferred over a hotel. Friendly attentive staff.

We stayed at the Somerset grand Hanoi at both of ends of our trip to Vietnam and we loved it. We are a family of 4 and we stayed in the 2 bedroom suite room. It was SO spacious! Our kids slept in the room with two twins. We had the master with a very comfy king bed, excellent pillows! There were 2 bathrooms, a small kitchen, washer/dryer and living room with TV. We can’t say enough about the spaciousness! Other things we loved about this hotel - friendly staff, small grocery store in the shopping arcade that’s attached, nice fitness center, we used the pool even though it was cold and we loved the sauna! We didn’t have the buffet breakfast included in our rate but we ate there a few times for convenience. There were many yummy places to eat within very close walking distance that were much less expensive and in our opinion more delicious: bahn xeo, pho thanh both within 200 meters. A slightly further walk is the best coffee shop in Hanoi! Black Market coffee was a daily mainstay for us, if you’re an espresso drinker you can’t miss this stop! Their premium espresso is divine and they have 4 test tubes of beans to smell and select from. In addition to those places being close by, you’re only a 15-20 min walk to the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem lake etc. the hotel is also attached to the prison museum, which is worth a visit. All in all, this hotel is a perfect home base for families visiting Hanoi!

We had an excellent four days at this hotel. Spacious rooms and great service at very step. We loved the gym and pool areas- though the pickleball court can get loud. Highly recommend staying at such an important location in Vietnam’s history (site of the infamous Hanoi Hilton).

We stayed here for three nights in April 2025. The location is very convenient and the service from the staff was very good. They delivered a lovely surprise anniversary gift for us. The facilities, while a little dated, were great for a family with young kids. Good pools and the kids enjoyed the little playground. Well equipped gym too. We had breakfast included and it was ok for the price. Overall the two bedroom apartment suited our family well but the rooms definitely need a bit of a paint. Recommend getting a room on a high floor if possible due to street noise.
