We stayed at the Somerset grand Hanoi at both of ends of our trip to Vietnam and we loved it. We are a family of 4 and we stayed in the 2 bedroom suite room. It was SO spacious! Our kids slept in the room with two twins. We had the master with a very comfy king bed, excellent pillows! There were 2 bathrooms, a small kitchen, washer/dryer and living room with TV. We can’t say enough about the spaciousness! Other things we loved about this hotel - friendly staff, small grocery store in the shopping arcade that’s attached, nice fitness center, we used the pool even though it was cold and we loved the sauna! We didn’t have the buffet breakfast included in our rate but we ate there a few times for convenience. There were many yummy places to eat within very close walking distance that were much less expensive and in our opinion more delicious: bahn xeo, pho thanh both within 200 meters. A slightly further walk is the best coffee shop in Hanoi! Black Market coffee was a daily mainstay for us, if you’re an espresso drinker you can’t miss this stop! Their premium espresso is divine and they have 4 test tubes of beans to smell and select from. In addition to those places being close by, you’re only a 15-20 min walk to the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem lake etc. the hotel is also attached to the prison museum, which is worth a visit. All in all, this hotel is a perfect home base for families visiting Hanoi!
