despite past reviews I can assure you that this restaurant is 5 stars automatically. our waitress was extremely kind and courteous. she made the lemonade from scratch and you should give it a try. my brothers BBQ sandwhich looked fantastic, and according to him it tasted fantastic. expect the crab cakes to be a little off the normal crab cakes but still taste fantastic none the less. the double layer grilled cheese had the perfect gooyness but firmness and toast on the outside like it should. I would recommend to anybody!

We dropped by for a drink and stayed for more. The crab cake I had was the best I've ever had, and crab cakes are a particular favorite of mine. I've had them all over the US. The service was so understated and attentive that my wife and I ended up having far more than just a drink on a lovely spring evening. The bread pudding with blackberries was to die for. We are regular visitors to the French Quarter and have eaten at places like Galatoire's and Brennan's all of our lives. I'm sorry that we have heretofore overlooked this place that can make anyone feel right at home.

Stopped in on a whim for a late breakfast. The omelette's were pretty good, but the service was poor. Never refilled waters. Never refilled coffee. Brought one of our meals which was completely wrong and did not seem to notice. Did take back and replace with the correct dish. Nice enough setting, but probably won't be back.

I ordered the crab cakes and got sick. Aside from the food poisoning, there was shell in the crab cakes, they were cool when served, and they were pretty small for the price. I gave this place two stars instead of one star as my friends seemed happy with their food.

Three days of great breakfasts last trip....looking forward to our next three days this weekend. John Besh's August for dinner, but Something Else for breakfast!!!! Not
only did we enjoy the meals we all had, but we came back with two levels of "Slap Ya Mama" seasonings, and each time we use one or the other (Hot and Not So Hot) we remember the meals AND the biscuits. My sympathy to those who had a less than pleasant experience, or who failed to appreciate the ambience. That will help keep the crowds down and make it easier for us to get in.

Went there this morning! It was such a perfect day. We happened to find this place by accident and we're happy we did! Oh my the server was so attentive and courteous. We ordered the crawfish etouflee omelette and a egg white omelette. Yummy. Yummy.Yummy. Food was served promptly and oh so tasty! The cook came to check on us as well. What a treat! a must try!

Not much good or bad to say. The bloody Marys are pretty good. The place seems to get overwhelmed easily. I've been at Somethin' Else several times. I've heard the staff quarrel with each other quite a bit. The breakfast sandwich is plain boring and bland. I will stop in from time to time because the location is convenient.

We had seen Somethin Else recommended by Frommers so went there for supper. Being really nice polite people we didn't complain about missing menu items, only joked that that was why it was calle "Somethin Else" and my husband tipped above and beyond. At least I get to write a review though. I asked for Fish and Chips. It was a Thursday and I was told, "None of our fresh fish has come in today". Okay, shrimp then. The shrimp, like so much else, had been chalked up a few dollars on the menu and I got eight shrimp for twelve dollars on a bed of iceberg lettuce. I just kept thinking, "This is it?" I paid two dollars for a small amount of coleslaw. My daughter got eight minute chicken strips for one dollar each and we greedily shared the tiny bag of chips the waitress grandly offered her with it. Frommers went on about this great crab, avocado and spinach salad. My husband ordered it, but it came sans avocado and at first it appeared there wouldn't be any crab. The waitress came back from the kitchen with a broad smile, actually they had crab. It seemed a lot of tax was added to the meal and there went $44 down the drain. Outside there was a street beggar enjoying a plate of dirty rice,......I envied him. If you want to save some bucks and get a decent meal don't go to this restaurant.
