Something Different

I was blown away by how delicious my cajun chicken pasta was! Hubby ate homemade hamburger and really liked it. The menu is varied; anyone could find something to like here. I also got a side of collards, and it is made with beef bacon, so any creed could enjoy. They tasted as good as any I have eaten in the Deep South. I say that as a Southerner! It is a clean, cute little place furnished with hand-me-downs (which I really don't mind at all - actually I am all about reuse/repurpose/recycle,) obviously very newly opened, so I was prepared to forgive a lot, but did not have to. Bonus: the couple who own and work the place are genuinely nice and interesting people. We were treated as honored guests and my huge service dog and my equally huge service dog in training were welcomed. The only reason I left off one star on atmosphere was because the neighborhood is a little bit shabby, but there appears to be a movement to revitalize it. I was not the least concerned to be there. And good for this couple to be part of that movement to make their world a better place! I definitely would make a point of coming here again next trip through.

The food is delicious. He puts a nice spin on "comfort" foods. The fried cabbage, and the kale side are perfect. The barbecued fried chicken and stew chicken are outstanding. There is a nice mix of "soul" food, Carribean dishes and original recipes. The decor is cozy and the music is really good. Prices are very reasonable compared to the service; each dish is prepared freshly.

I was so disappointed. Ordered a Philly cheese steak sandwich. Could not eat eat, instructions for toppings on the side not followed and was hard pressed to find any meat in the sandwich when I picked it apart. Fish and chips were mediocre, fish over fried and dry and chewy and the chips seasoned well but soggy, but I never expect anyone's chips too be edible... Had no banana pudding so replaced with sweet potato pie, which was good but I was disappointed it was prepackaged. Not likely to order from there again.

Salty greens , fish wasn't crispy. just all around disappointed. Definitely not like the soul food that's in city. Had high hopes this place would be different but it's not. No love in the food at all.

Outstanding service! Private outdoor seating available and 1 of a kind menu with fresh juice blends. Very clean and comfortable atmosphere. Everything is halal and they offer a wide variety of vegan food as well as freshly brewed sorrel and ginger lemonade(and bean pies), highly highly recommend!

One of the best halal spots to eat at here in Binghamton. The menu and food is really "something different." The food is beyond amazing, and when complemented with the atmosphere and the hospitality of the chef, makes the perfect place to eat when you're hungry. You'll understand what I mean once you go. I pray for the best for the restaurant and it's owner.

I just found this place on door dash and I am very happy! Really good shrimp, plantain, kale and Mac n cheese. Only teeny tiny complaint is the website said Diet Coke and I got caffeine free Diet Pepsi. No problem today, but sometimes I really want the caffeine more than the soda. I don’t drink coffee, so on sleepy days I want caffeine from soda.

I ordered thru GrubHub,BBQ chicken & Mac and cheese. An hour later the food arrived. The BBQ chicken was burnt and the Mac&cheese was sour. The food was definitely something different ,you need life insurance to eat it. I wouldn't recommend anyone to eat there.

One of my favorite places in Binghamton. The food is all around amazing! So much flavor and depth. Everything is perfectly prepared. The best black bean burger I've ever had *anywhere*. The problem with most black bean burgers is they are pasty or heavy. Not here! The black bean burger was light, chock full of chopped veggies and perfectly seasoned. If you stop in ask for the sorrell/hibiscus gingerade. It is intense! So yummy! The carrot cake is also perfect, not too sweet and with plenty of nuts, spices and a hint of pineapple. Overall, this is just one fantastic restaurant and will become a Binghamton legend in time. Get there!

The food was amazing but I asked the driver to hang my door on the door and to ring the door bell. They put my food on the ground and I had to go outside to see my food was here if I didn't I would never known, but amazing food drivers need to listen it's hot bugs çould have gone in my food

I've been hoping for a good soul food restaurant in Binghamton for a long time, and I found this place opened up recently. It ain't bad - the chicken and waffles was pretty good, plaintains were great, Cajun steak fries were soggy, baked Mac and cheese was bland, and I wasn't a fan of the fried cabbage but I think that's me. Definitely not as amazing as what you'd get in North Carolina but pretty good for upstate New York.
