We had a nice quiet lunch at Somi today. My shrimp were delicious but may have sat a bit and were spicy. My daughter and I had the vermicelli salad hers being vegetarian and mine with prawns. She had a coconut water out of a coconut and it tasted refreshing for a hot day. The pho was served steaming hot and with plenty of peppers, basil and sprouts.

I have to have a review in here somewhere before now cause this is one of my favorite places to come! I love the environment in the service and their wings and avocado spring roll appetizers are often what I order for my entrée. I’m also a big fan of the grilled chicken vermicelli! Check out all the photos! I’m back again having the grilled vermicelli with some hot saki and it is so good and so hitting the spot! And have I mentioned the wonderful service here? Is this is one of the most gracious restaurants in the valley! So much so that we’ve had several birthday parties in the super cute private room!

Google
Very very good calamari! No sauce needed :) Very well seasoned. I also tried the avocado and cucumber spring rolls with no noodles. I greatly appreciate them being so accommodating with my no noodle request. Yummy and healthy! I REALLY enjoy their mango salad. I had to order it as a side order because they don't have a full size dish of it. Wish they did - I would order it every day. The location is great but parking is not the best. Restaurant is clean. It's like a modern twist (with some traditional dishes) Vietnamese restaurant.

Google
Completely blew my socks off, one of my new favorite restaurants!!The food was amazing. We found this place because it smelled so good walking past it from the street, and it tasted just as good as it smelled! The staff were incredibly courteous, professional, and helpful. Our waitress (Trisha) was so amazing, she even helped to pack up our left overs. The Honey Walnut Shrimp was my favorite dish. It had candied walnuts, a perfect creamy & sweet sauce, and perfectly cooked shrimp. The Garlic Chicken was so flavorful. I love the water chestnut, it is one of my favorite ingredients and it paired amazing with the wood ear mushrooms. The General Tso’s Chicken was not spicy as expected, but amazing breading on the chicken and the peppers were very flavorful. The Grass Fed Wagyu Pho was good and wholesome ingredients. If you’re a pho-lover, this is for you. We also got some Thai Teas and they were spot on! Well-steeped tea base and a light milk/creamer, very refreshing. I adored my visit and will definitely be coming back.

Did you wake up this morning, begin your yoga routine, and right in the middle of your warrior one pose think to yourself, "gosh darn my day would be complete if I had some super delicioso Vietnamese for lunch"? Well, I sure did, and the garlic chicken did not disappoint. Sauce think and smooth. Flavor dancing across those taste buds. Water chestnuts properly cooked. Like seriously, this stopped me in my tracks as the mouth feel of the perfectly soft crunch complemented the juicy chicken. Whoa buddy, let me pause and catch my breath. Now that I've had a moment to compose myself, let's switch gears and talk about the portion size, perfect. No over compensating dollar for dollar value with size. No, sir. The exact amount of food to fill the lunch needs of my belly. Flavor reins supreme. And to satisfy all of my senses, twirling the straw in my Thai ice tea sent me to a moment of Zen. Watching the swirls of flavors mix is pure present moment joy. Now I sit depressed in my corporate cubicle wishing for another lunch time soon where I can stop by Somi.

Google
I had the Pho grass fed waygu. The meat was nice and soft to eat, the noodles and broth tasted amazing😍. First time eating here. I’ve had pho at other places but this pho was a whole other level. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re ever in Salt Lake City, Utah.🙂

Google
The Summer rolls were great, as well as the crab shrimp soup! Very fresh, and many gluten free options!

Google
The food was authentic vietnamese, at least the Pho and summer rolls. Friendly staff and clean tables. I had the beef Pho which was very good. The only thing I thought could improve was the amount of basil that they provided for the Pho.

Yelp
My husband and I had a fun date night at Somi!! We've been here before, but it's been a really long time. I think my favorite meal was tonight's! I had the Singapore Sling to drink, it was actually pretty strong, and the Garden Vegetables with chili oil on the side! Phenomenal!! The chili oil added the perfect spice, while still being able to enjoy the flavor of the vegetables! My husband had the non-alcoholic passion fruit fizz to drink and the vermicelli noodles with tofu. It also came with a crispy veggie roll. Service was great and food was delicious!! Will definitely need to come here more often!

Yelp
I met a friend. She said it took awhile to get a table despite the restaurant not looking very busy. I used the Yelp check-in offer to get a free specialty drink! I got the Thai iced tea which was new to me. It had an intense spice flavor? But my friend said this is how it's supposed to taste. Hooray for trying new things! I ordered the prawn vermicelli and my friend got the lemongrass beef soup. Our food took a pretty long time to come out. My friend's soup looked so good! I will have to get pho when I go back. The vermicelli dish was fine. The shrimp were huge and cooked nicely and the star of the dish was the crispy spring roll! I need more of them!

Yelp
SOMI is a delicious restaurant located in the heart of Sugarhouse. The park and other businesses are within walking distance, and this place is the perfect spot for a date night. The food bursts with flavor and is incredibly juicy. The wings are seasoned perfectly and they're not too greasy. I've never had better honey walnut shrimp--it's worth the price. The general tso chicken is tender and flavorful, served with perfectly cooked broccoli. The string bean chicken is tasty, and you can modify it to make it spicy if you'd like. The service was fast, friendly and competent. She kept our water and drinks filled, checked on us a decent amount, and served our food promptly. SOMI is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the Sugarhouse area.

Yelp
Was in town wanted to go back to Somi because I had a great food experience last time for dinner so decided to check them out for lunch. The service was okay. I was hungry and service was a bit slow for this hungry gal. Ordered pot stickers to tie us over before our main course. Couldn't decide on a protein so I got the Somi special vermicelli. The short rib is perfection. The egg roll wasn't that flavorful. I should've gotten the short rib instead of the Somi special. My husband loved his dish, but I can't remember what it was called. Would come back again. The restaurant is clean and sleek but can get noisy with a lot of people.

Yelp
Loved this place! They've got a great drinks, wine, cocktails list (I had the prosecco) along with some delicious pho. The broth was made right and the flavors were fantastic!

Bruce B.

Yelp
Excellent pork, egg roll & vermicelli salad. The best I've found in SLC! I'll come back here!

Davian M.

Yelp
Pho was fire, got the wagyu & vegetarian mushroom. My Girlfriend is Asian and she approves. It's a nice building/location. No complaints with service. Cocktails slapped. Will be back.

Yelp
Updating my review from before: I would love to see the service improve here. Time after time we come for lunch or dinner and are not waited on until we had to flag someone down. Today during lunch another server had to take our order and the only time our actual server spoke to us was when he dropped the bill off. My lash lady across the street even says she can't come here during lunch because they're just way too slow.

Yelp
Somi was one of the best meals I had during a recent visit to SLC. I stayed in the Sugarhouse neighborhood and walked here one night with family in tow. The restaurant was squeaky clean, service exceptional and speedy. We ordered a few things and shared between the 3 of us, starting with a Thai iced tea and fresh coconut juice which was served ice cold and came with a spoon to scrape out the flesh. For dinner, we had the crispy spring rolls which you can't ever go wrong with. Their fish sauce was nice and vibrant. We then ordered the vermicelli Somi style which came with beef, chicken, pork, and a crispy spring roll. The meat was grilled nicely, the noodles and vegetables were refreshing, especially when mixed with the fish sauce. Lastly, we ordered the shaking beef with a side of fried rice. OMG the filet melted in our mouth, the onions were so good, and that sauce with black pepper was amazing. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my skeptical niece try the tiniest bite then asking for more, because I know I picked a good place and that she trusts my taste.

Yelp
The only reason we came here for dinner was it was a walking distance from our hotel. Yes, we love Vietnamese food, but we get disappointed so often that we had a very little expectation. Oh boy we were wrong. First, this being a Friday evening, they were busy and we were asked if we had a reservation. We had none. They were so kind to accommodate us after a short wait, despite being quite busy. It's definitely a "bistro" atmosphere, quite trendy, but very comfortable. I had a Somi special pho, and husband had Imperial shrimp. Both were excellent. In fact, this is easily one of the best phos I've ever had, and I've had a lot in the Bay. I'm always wary of noodle soups not being hot enough, and not having enough broth, but no need to worry. It's got both, and exceptionally flavorful broth that is! The beef slices are tender, the vegetables are fresh and crispy, and great quarter of juicy lime... All these small things counts. The service is wonderful. The proprietor is very attentive and personable. I wish we lived nearby, but we will definitely come back when if we are back in SLC!

Yelp
Fusion gets a bad rap a lot but I think this place does a great job of elevated Vietnamese. They've got the staples like pho & vermicelli bowls but what I really like is their more pricier house special dishes. I had an amazing caramelized duck breast & whole branzino that still haunt my dreams and taste buds. Yes prices are a tad higher but worth it IMO.
google avatar

Bekah C.

Yelp
I fell in love with SOMI the minute I walked in. The restaurant is very clean, the food smells so good, and the staff is genuinely friendly. Our waiter helped us narrow down our appetizer (calamari) and entree (Vermicelli Special) and we were not disappointed. Both dishes were fantastic! I can't wait to come back when the weather is cooler and try the pho. And probably everything else on the menu because it all sounded so good.

Irina T.

Yelp
Freshest vegetables I've ever had. I'm not a vegan, I just prefer vegetable broth. This place has the best veggie broth, and al dente noodles when they do delivery. Their vegetables are supremely fresh. Been ordering from here for three years, unbeatable.
google avatar

Catherine R.

Yelp
The best pho broth, quality of meat is very high! However the portions are small for the price point. Still worth it IMO- I ride by here on my bike route and the smells are amazing. One of my fav pho spots in slc.
google avatar

Rachel T.

Yelp
Wanted to try this place since the reviews were high, but I'm not a fan. The food was not bad, in fact I liked the broth and the wagu from the pho. But the portion size was very small and didn't have enough meat. My husband ordered the lemon grass grilled pork and it was over cooked. You can taste the grill marks on the pork. The blueberry lemonade was also mostly ice and not enough lemonade. If upscale means small portion sizes I'd rather go somewhere that I can have a full belly coming out. Just feels like I got slightly ripped off.

Yelp
Everything about this place was fantastic. The drinks were wonderful. Each one of us had a different beverage and they were each very tasty. We ordered the fried spring rolls and Mushu pork. Perfect portions for lunch. The chicken fried rice was very tasty with just the right amount of food that we all enjoyed. We would certainly eat here again and I would recommend this place to anyone coming in for a nice lunch or dinner. The service was fantastic and the ambient music was even better.

Yelp
Got the rice plate with the pork and it was delish to go order was fast! Portions are big too! Cute date spot

Yelp
this restaurant was DELICIOUS!!! we came for dinner, so our meals were for this price and portion. i would say that the price was appropriate for the amount of food i got (and the taste)! i'm not sure if the lunch portion is smaller or just cheaper, so i'll have to come back to find out. i ordered the Grilled Chicken Breast Vermicelli, which was already impressive by the presentation. as for taste, i cleared my entire plate and did not leave a single drop of food! the chili-lime vinaigrette was the perfect balance of sweet and savory. it wasn't too salty or spicy, so if you like spice i would ask for something extra! i asked for a Veggie Spring Roll instead of pork since i don't eat pork, and they were able to accommodate this request. the Veggie Spring Roll was a nice balance of crunchy and chewy (and 100% tasty). my bf ordered the Grilled Prawn Vermicelli (with the normal pork spring roll) and he really enjoyed his meal too! he stated that the prawns were smaller than expected, but there was a decent quantity on the plate. the service was quick so this is a perfect place to stop by for a meal before your flight, especially since it's only 11 minutes from SLC. :)
google avatar

Jasmine C.

Yelp
This was definitely a good date option!! The service was great and the food was paced well. I hate when apps and entrees come out at the same time, but somi was great with timing. This isn't a traditional Vietnamese place so there was food like general tso chicken which is more Chinese. It's a good elevated Asian restaurant!
google avatar

Alex G.

Yelp
The food was good. Service was slow, I had to call a waiter over after a while. My water got refilled after I was done eating.

Yelp
We ordered takeout for a work lunch. The original ordering went fairly smoothly, but the morning of pickup we tried to call and add an item and they claimed they couldn't find the original order. Not a great look. They weren't very nice about it either. They did eventually find our original order and added the item. When we were looking at the order trying to sort out who's was what, they packaged it together to not use as many containers. Which was hard for us because they were different sushi rolls for different people. It was a messy process and it feels like it could've been avoided if they would've packed the rolls for the certain people separately. My rolls were good! I had a shrimp roll and the fried Vegas roll. I love the orange sauce and was super disappointed that the sauce cup wasn't even half full. And there were only about 4 total of these sauces to be shared among 7 people which doesn't make sense. Maybe the experience would be better if you dine in, but be warned about ordering take out. The food is good, and I might be willing to look past the previous service issues to try it again.

Yelp
We initially chose to dine here because there is a dog friendly patio and we had our dogs with us. The food and experience surpassed any expectations I had. Our outdoor table was set with a tablecloth and silverware, and the staff was very helpful and professional. Everything we ordered was top notch quality and super tasty. Probably the best vermicelli bowls I've had ever, both the grilled prawns and chicken were grilled to perfection. And the passion fruit fizz is worth the visit here alone!

Yelp
Okay this is a brutally honest review. I am full Vietnamese and was craving a vermicelli noodle bowl and all that was open was SOMI. I ordered on door dash and was surprised to see a noodle bowl cost $22??? But I was so hungry I didn't care at that moment. I got my order and opened up my bowl and audibly gasped at how underwhelming and small it is. WHERE ARE THE HERBS?? WHERE IS THE OILED SCALLION? key components of a vermicelli were completely missing. Then, i took a bite and immediately knew the meal was not worth it. I wouldn't even pay $15 for it. The chicken was so dry my dog wouldn't even eat it when I gave it to him. There was only 1 slice of the grilled pork which was mediocre and underwhelming. The noodles were not cooked properly and I could tell they had been sitting out in open air because some of the pieces were hard. I am all for supporting local mom and pop shops but I am so confused on this place and have been unimpressed by them twice. Please take your money to other local Vietnamese shops where they serve quality authentic dishes like pho Saigon, oh Mai, or jades deli.

Yelp
Wanted to squeeze in a Sugarhouse sit down dine option before our movie across the street, and this ticked the box. We decided on an appetizers only MO due to time constraints and went with the potstickers, crispy spring rolls, and somi sliders. The spring rolls and potstickers were excellent - the sliders weren't mind blowing, but still good. We also had a couple of cocktails that hit the spot. Service was attentive, flirty, and ... sexy. We loved the attention from our server! Somi also accommodated our time constraints which was appreciated, and we made our movie on time. The space is a little modern bland and lacks (and almost disrespects) Asian detail and tradition - it could use reimagining. Overall, four star Asian dining experience at Somi!

Mary K.

Yelp
Reliably tasty dishes (I always order off the veggie section), very cold beer, fun atmosphere, friendly staff.
google avatar

Kenneth G.

Yelp
Place is super delicious I've had the vermicelli special and the general Thaos chicken. This place has amazing service and the orders come delivered quick. The restaurant is really bright and inviting. They have good lunch specials during the week too !
google avatar

Leah J.

Yelp
We love Somi! Everything is fresh and delicious. The shaking beef, vermicelli noodle bowls, the whole fish, yum! Great cocktails and nice staff.
google avatar

Barbara K.

Yelp
Delicious Bun Vermicelli with shrimp and crispy spring rolls. Fish sauce was excellent! Service was top notch! Lots of delicious fresh veg in the Bun. The only thing I didn't like were the hard wooden and metal chairs.
google avatar

Jon A.

Yelp
Maybe we just had bad luck. The food was at best, fine, at worst, cursed. Meat tasted frozen and reheated. Coffee had so much burned sediment the straw clogged. Not to mention the price! Very disappointing.
google avatar

Rich K.

Yelp
What an absolutely amazing lunch! The food is incredible. The wings were hot, fresh and crispy. Flavor down to the bone. SOMI special vermicelli plate with steak was delicious. I had two Hot Club cocktails as well which were made perfectly. Everything about the restaurant was clean and comfortable. The owner and staff were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. I will visit SOMI every time I'm in town! Thank you!!!
google avatar

Kate F.

Yelp
Overall I enjoy SOMI, but I think there are many other places that are better priced and better taste. Ambiance is excellent, though. Would probably make a nice first date.
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
Somi is such an amazing spot for dinner. I think about their orange chicken often. The entrees come with a side of rice so the portions can be pretty big so can bring leftovers home. I had come once with a larger group and we all go entrees to share across the table for a variety of different plates. The pho is always such a great choice. It's tasty and great for a cold day. Their drinks are really good too! Overall such a great spot - come early/prepared to find parking as it can get busy. You can make reservation on Yelp as well!
google avatar

Eric S.

Yelp
A friend recommended we go here one night while we were visiting. I was very impressed with the food. We enjoyed each of the dishes we had and I only wish I could go back there regularly!

Tony T.

Yelp
Somi Special. An attempt at elevated Vietnamese comfort food. Broth was good. Meat slightly was overcooked. Due to its location and demographic, it's geared towards a certain clientele. Does not quite hit the mark of the classic bowl of pho where grandma is cooking in the back. It's not bad but good enough if you're looking for a bowl of pho in the area.
google avatar

Luciano W.

Yelp
Great food, service average. Mauricio, our waiter, was really kind. He did a good job. The hostess wasn't efficient. We entered the restaurant, nobody was there. We waited, two servers looked at us and none took initiative to call the waitress. Small details that can be easily fixed by training the staff. The food was really tasty.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
We sat outside and our server, Florida, was super friendly. Overall the food here was delicious with a good quantity and price. I would definitely come again. Spring rolls: these were huge but so light and refreshing. I really enjoyed it with the sauce and it didnt fall apart when you bit into it. Fried chicken: the fried chicken was a dry rub and seasonings were excellent especially with a dash of lemon. The skin was crispy but inside wasn't dry at all. It was finger lickin good Stir fry broccoli with beef: the beef and broccoli were both super tender and addicting to eat Vermicelli noodles: really light and refreshing

Emily K.

Yelp
I go to Somi frequently. They have very tasty food, yummy! The crew including the owner are very friendly. They provide fantastic customer service every time.
google avatar

Tiffany W.

Yelp
We LOVE Somi! Fantastic service and food. If you are Gluten Free you NEED to come here. Best calamari ever, and it can be made gluten free and it's still amazing. You can really taste the freshness and quality of ingredients. You don't even need sauce, just some lemon. It is cooked to perfection every time and very consistent. We also love their gluten free breaded wings. Delicious dipped in a bit of chili vinaigrette. We have gotten their rice noodles with shrimp and it's so delicious and fresh. Also available gluten free and comes with delicious little gluten free egg rolls. Highly recommend!! Our favorite Vietnamese place in SLC!! We will continue to come weekly. :) (We would love to see Gluten Free chicken options for the vermicelli noodles in the future!)

Yelp
Sheesh i woud like to give this place a better review but nah, so I been traveling for and wide for pho across the state/valley/country/world.. this definitely is not a good choice for Pho!! I cannot speak of the whole menu, probably good? But for the pho no no no its different, place is a cool hipster vietnamese restaurant with a twist on everything, a bit on the pricey side because of the location but im willing to spend $$ for some good food.. Service was awesome tho.. It is a cool spot to have a drink in for sure

Kevin M.

Yelp
Amazing food and service; quick and delicious looking forward to revisiting ... definitely recommend
google avatar

Erika M.

Yelp
Tasty pho (get the somi special and add vegetables), very nice staff and service. And a fun place to hangout. Great atmosphere. Delicious tea!

P S.

Yelp
This is the first time and I love the service and food! Very professional! I had the Chicken Lomain was perfect, juicy chicken very flavorful. Chaz is an excellent waiter.
google avatar

Katie D.

Yelp
Excellent spot in Sugarhouse! I thoroughly enjoyed my pho, which was so fresh, hot, and perfectly spiced. I got wagyu beef in mine, and it was so flavorful! I also ordered the sliders, which I think were probably a teeny bit overpriced but honestly, they were so tangy and fresh and the bun was so sweet and delicious, I would pay for them again. Our waitress was really sweet and attentive. We visited for dinner, and I can't wait to go again for lunch! I'm still giving 5/5 stars but making a reservation was really difficult. I made a reservation online for 5pm but did not receive a confirmation email. I got suspicious and decided to call and the staff said that they weren't able to find my reservation. Glad I called! The staff member helped make a reservation over the phone. But, when we arrived, the hostess couldn't find my reservation! I was polite but I assured her I did in fact have a reservation. Another staff member was able to find it written down on a piece of paper. It is a busy restaurant that would benefit from a more efficient reservation system. That being said, the staff were really polite and not to blame, it was just frustrating. Be sure to CALL and make a reservation!!
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
Somi has the best Asian food in sugar house, and maybe in all of SLC. I've never had a bad dish, and there's rarely a wait to be seated. The pho is excellent, as are the stir fry dishes.
google avatar

Chloe C.

Yelp
I work in Sugarhouse and go to Somi quite often. I enjoy their food and vibe! Alwasy get the spring rolls and have never been let down. Service tends to be really slow sometimes..
google avatar

Carrie S.

Yelp
Wonderful, warm service. Lemongrass Soup was delicious! Fried rice and orange chicken amazing. Hot Club was best cocktail ever! Don't forget the crème brule.
google avatar

Heather H.

Yelp
This place is one of my favorites the food the owner the parking (sugar house parking) I can't recommend this place enough. We've been at least 10 times and everything has been perfect.
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
I came here with family on tuesday because i hadn't been here since 2019. I got the grilled chicken rice plate, vietnamese iced coffee, and the pork potstickers. the service here was great! however, the food definitely could have been better. my chicken had areas that were cold and hard to chew and tasted a little dry-- so i was a little sad about that. HOWEVER, the potstickers...those were amazing!!! they were a little crispy and thick on the outside but soft and juicy on the inside and with the pork inside. it tasted so much better than any other potsticker i've had. the iced coffee here was INCREDIBLE. i rarely ever order anything to drink besides hot tea or water, but i had always wanted to try vietnamese iced coffee and wow ... it did not disappoint. even my parents who don't drink coffee very often tasted it, and they LOVED IT. only reason i'm giving this place 3 stars is because it is a bit pricey and the quality of the main dish itself could have been a lot better.

Lila K.

Yelp
Nestled in Sugarhouse this delightful spot has friendly, attentive, and patient service. It was great to sit outside too. The avocado and cucumber rolls were amazing and fresh with an incredible nutty, smooth peanut sauce. I would not recommend the garden veggie entree but I think that was an ordering error on my part. The sauce was very plain and minimal and overall the dish was underwhelming especially after the delicious appetizer. I think next time I would get the vermicelli noodle bowl since the spring rolls were so good.
