Son Penya Adults Only Petit Hotel & Spa (Mallorca, Balearic Islands) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s not as easy as it perhaps ought to be to get some proper peace and quiet in Mallorca. On the east side of the island, though, about as far as it’s possible to get from the capital, Palma, you’ll find a rural village called Sant Llorenç des Cardassar. And where this village gives way to an endless expanse of countryside you’ll find a delightfully quiet little farmhouse hotel: Son Penya Adults Only Petit Hotel & Spa. The name, for some of us, is probably enough to get the point across, but if you’re detail-oriented, by all means, read on." - Tablet Hotels

If you are looking for a calm and peaceful place with a little bit of luxury, I think this is the right place for you. Rooms are clean and have basically everything you need, also spacious. In the evening you can enjoy the silence and starry night sky at your own terrace. The breakfast is fresh and versatile enough. Pool area is relaxing and if you wish, you can book a private spa visit for extra privacy. Friendly and approachable staff, also possible to rent electric bikes (free) and head to the nearest towns for example.

I’m currently waiting to check out of Son Penya, both my husband and I will be very sad to leave. |We stayed in a villa, private pool with a view of the country and vineyards. The pool is a decent size and you can swim in it. We are here in August and the pool is warm. The bed was super comfy for both, I like a soft bed my husband likes it firmer but it was great for us both. Pillows are good too. |The resort is super quiet, you can hear the birds and cicadas sing and that’s it, we never heard anyone else. |The area itself isn’t our favourite, the beaches this side are very touristy, the closest villages aren’t as pretty as some we visited on the west side (they are hard to beat) we liked Artà though and it’s not too far. Manacor is quite industrial so e never went. |Yesterday we went to Pollenca, it was 1hr away. Palma is the same time and Soller is 1hr15. We have a car and I’d say it’s necessary here unless you plan on not moving about. Taxis come from Cala Millor 10/15 minutes away and charge you €10 before you go anywhere. |The breakfasts here are so good, absolutely delicious with fresh baked goods and fruit plus a menu you can order whatever you like from eggs Benedict to Açai bowls.

Son Penya is clearly a hidden gem to wind-down from the day to day stress. Amazing landscape and really quiet, exactly what we have been looking for. The rooms are amazing, spacious and luxurious - and the private pool was just outstanding. Breakfast was absolutely great too, fresh ingredients including a wide variety of eggs (including egg benedict) - perfect to start into the day without any stress. We spent at least an hour every morning to just enjoy the food and the view in the garden. Dinner was really good too, one evening we even had a wine tasting. Staff is super attentive and paying attention to details, exactly what you expect in such a house. We felt very welcome from the moment when we arrived. The team also helped us to organize trips and taxis for the evening. We will definitely come back.

There was an air conditioning outage and we were not informed at all until we arrived. It’s quite unbelievable that they think it’s normal and just provided us two fans in the room. I asked for a partial refund later and got refused. It’s summer in Spain and the room was super warm and stuffy without air conditioning. We also found a weird hair ball on the towel during our stay. Not sure how this hotel can be branded as luxury, worse than Airbnb.

12/10. PEACE, STYLE AND A LOT OF HEART We deliberately chose this hotel. The quiet finca style and the small number of rooms appealed to us. And that's exactly what we got. Pure relaxation in a fantastically beautiful complex. We had a deluxe villa with a private pool. Absolutely cozy, sufficiently large and with a fantastic view over the private pool into the distance. We had sun from early morning until evening. Ideal for anyone who simply wants to relax in peace. The entire team was warm, attentive and pleasantly unobtrusive throughout. Reception, restaurant and cleaning staff - all excellent. You feel at home from the very first moment. Feel-good factor: 100%. We had half board. In the evening we were able to choose à la carte from a starter, main course and dessert. Everything we ate (including the hotel's recommendations) was consistently delicious. The breakfast? Top level. The French toast was a particular highlight. We didn't use the large communal pool with the chic daybeds. But it looked very inviting. We were able to charge our electric car for free directly in the hotel parking lot. A real plus point. The entire complex is beautifully maintained and stylish. With lots of privacy and tranquillity. Apart from at mealtimes, you hardly notice that you are in a hotel. This is exactly the balance of retreat and comfort that we were looking for. If there was anything to improve, it would perhaps be the small fitness room. A bit more modern equipment would be desirable here. But that's complaining on a high level. For us it was an even 12 out of 10 and we will definitely be back.

Petit Hotel Son Penya is a beautiful jewel nestled in the inner countryside of Mallorca. It provides a calm, serene and relaxing atmosphere with lovely grounds displaying nature and exuding a peacefulness befitting its location. The chef does not disappoint and the staff is welcoming, never invading privacy but offering assistance when asked. The accommodations are artfully appointed particularly the Gran Villa which we had the pleasure of staying in on our second visit but not our last. Son Penya is easy to get to but a hard place to leave! Carole and Peter, Toronto, Canada.

The grounds and the room are an absolute 5 out of 5. You can enjoy a world of tranquility with a peaceful outdoor pool, heated indoor pool, plentiful sun beds and the room to totally chill. |Our bedroom was stunning, comfortable bed, jacuzzi bath and a lovely terrace and view.|We were welcomed by Sonia who was extremely helpful and friendly and we had great lunches on the first day.||The evening meal was a big disappointment. We had read reviews saying the food was amazing but our experience was distinctly average. We are not the people to pay for three star and expect five. However, our expectations were higher than what was delivered, from reading others’ experiences.||We arrived to supposedly music at 7.30, which started at 8.50. We had planned to enjoy this over a cocktail before dinner. The staff we weren’t very interested or attentive. ||We then sat in the restaurant to find ants on the nearby window sill and flying ants in the roof. We ignored them to begin with but after three ants landed in our hair, we moved to other seats. The staff were helpful with this but then other than delivering the main course, totally ignored us including offering our dessert course which was included in the half board we had chosen. They seem surprised when after several time asking/waiting we got up and left.||In the morning, we went for breakfast. I have coeliac disease and cannot eat gluten. I asked twice for someone to advise me as to what was safe for me to eat but, after being acknowledged, no one came. In the end I gave up.||All in all, we had a nice stay. Because the grounds were so lovely we enjoyed it but we just hope that we picked the wrong night to visit and that most nights live up to everyone’s reviews.

A peaceful countryside haven in converted finca setting. Friendly and welcoming staff, delicious food and wine and fabulous spaces in the gardens and poolside to relax and unwind. We are regular visitors!
