Went with a group of friends. Staff were very professional and helpful. It was our first time, they showed us everything we need to do. Korean BBQ was such a great experience all the sides and meats were amazing. Just one thing the sausage is quite sweet and can be overpowering. Otherwise great food overall

I think it’s fair to say that food can be a form of travelling, and since I can’t visit Korea in person, trying Korean BBQ felt like the next best thing. You get to braai your own meat on a small portable gas stove, paired with a variety of fresh veggies. By far, one of my favourite dining experiences!

Had some Korean BBQ and noodles at Sonamu, Rondebosch. Place was quiet when we got there, as they just opened but it quickly filled up. Very unique experience preparing your own food in a restaurant setting, but it's quite fun. Husband was enjoying himself so much. Meat was fresh, and the noodles was bursting with flavour. The pickled cucumber salad was out of this world, need some right now. I really can't wait to go back.

Went on Thursday, enjoyed the food and service, so we decided to go back again on Saturday, but for the Korean barbecue, it was amazing and I really do recommend.

Don't bother coming here... because I want to keep it all to myself! But seriously, this place is a treasure. The friendly staff, relaxed Asian-modern atmosphere, and immaculate energy will draw you in. Plus, free parking nearby - a rarity in Cape Town! But the real magic happens on the plate. I devoured the kimchi soup and noodles - absolutely mouth-watering! Perfectly balanced flavors: spicy, rich, savory, and tangy. The Korean fried chicken? Sweet, crispy perfection. And the portions? Generous, to say the least. Reasonably priced, impeccable service, and phenomenal food. I'm already planning my next visit. Don't miss out on this gem! Highlights: Friendly staff Relaxed, modern atmosphere Free parking nearby Exceptional Korean cuisine Generous portions Reasonable prices Will I return? Absolutely!

Great food experience at Sonamu. Wife and I went there for Valentine’s Day. We shared the Korean Barbecue and it was amazing. Booking was easy online and over the phone, got there in time but there was confusion about the booking. After sitting at the Sushi bar for 5min we were shown to our table. Ordering and the meal was on point. Waitresses Caitlin and Roux were great. We had the Pork sausage, prawn, marinated chicken and mushrooms for the barbecue. The complimentary oils, sauce and garlic and chilli were great. We add the Korean Spicy sauce, Kimchi and pickled cucumber great add-ons to our meal. Food was really good. I ordered a Boston beer on tap and it was light flavourful highly recommended. Highly recommend for a night out make sure to book especially for a Friday night. Deserve 5stars but can get a bit noisy, so if you don’t mind the noise definitely go there. Our bill for 2 was only R520, worth it

This used to be a favorite Friday go to restaurant. But I noticed something has changed in the last couple of years in terms of quality of food. Ramen was a favorite, but when I ordered for takeout and it was so salty. It seemed like the broth has been made to boil over and over, which is fine but I think hey over did on the salt. We do not go as often and and as fond anymore. The crispy squid is a favorite and the sushi. I’d still go for the barbecue. We miss the presence of the original lady owner. She was warm and welcoming and would give us advice on what dishes to try.

This was a first for me. As an avid dinner diner, I love exploring new restaurants, and Sonamu nails it perfectly. Greeting you at your table is your own BBQ, ready and waiting. Choose from a great platter menu or create your own.. either way, you won't be disappointed. The staff are super helpful and will guide you if you find yourself a bit lost.
