I had a very disappointing experience with Sonder. I booked a stay months in advance at their location in Hillsboro Village (2111 Belcourt Ave) through Airbnb, and just a week before my trip, they abruptly cancelled my reservation, stating they could no longer honor it due to a contract default with Marriott.
There was no real explanation, no personal outreach, and no genuine effort to help me find alternative accommodations. Sonder simply sent a message and went silent. When I tried to call, the phone line routed directly to Marriott, and Sonder stopped responding to all messages.
I was left scrambling no compensation, no sincere apology, and no accountability. Thankfully, Airbnb were supportive and issued a refund and a small credit, but Sonder completely ghosted me and several others who booked with them. This is not how a hospitality company should treat paying customers.
Be cautious booking with them it’s not worth the risk of being abandoned last minute.
