My girlfriend and I stayed here during our recent trip to Montreal, and we booked it through Airbnb. The place was amazing. Super spacious, modern, clean, and very aesthetically pleasing. The location is perfect as you are right around the corner from old Montreal, Chinatown, and the Old Port.
However, their level of customer service and communication was not ideal. We were told we would get a confirmation code which would let us into the building and our room, 3 days, and then 24 hours before our arrival date. We didn’t receive anything, even up to the point where we got to the front door.
There is no receptionist or employees on sight, so you are on your own.
Messaging them on Airbnb or calling their direct phone line did nothing, and we were stranded for a little while. Fortunately, I was able to find my confirmation code by going through the direct Sonder app and entering my trip details.
But by the time they finally responded, it was far too late. Additionally, all of their responses sound very automated, and I doubt there’s an actual person messaging you.
Another slight issue we ran into was the dryer machine. A few days went by and we decided to do laundry. Everything is supplied so that was great. However, the dryer kept saying that the filter needed to be cleaned, which was, and would beep nonstop if you tried to start the dryer. There was no way to mute it or bypass it.
And again, messaging them did nothing. We didn’t get a reply until a few days later on our last day.
Overall, the place was great to stay in, and it certainly exceeded beyond our expectations. They just need to reevaluate the way they handle communications with their customers.
P.S. if you show up earlier than your scheduled check-in time, don’t expect to be able to get access to your room. Even if you get your room code, it isn’t accessible until your exact check-in time, down to the second.
