Only good thing about this hotel is the location, we had easy access to everything in New Orleans but besides that this place is not worth it. The building is older but it's obvious the owners have neglected the space, paint is chipping everywhere, floors are uneven (tripped a few times in our room) and cleanliness is lacking (found trash in our room and on the balcony). The shower will take forever to drain and will randomly switch from hot to cold. When we first got there we had trouble using our code to get in and contacted Sonder, to this day we have not had a reply. We did eventually get in but not sure why we even needed the door code when anyone could enter the hotel through the back bar door. It just felt unsafe having that door open all the time. During our week long stay at no point was the one small trashcan emptied, we had to use a shopping bag as a trash can. No room refresh was offered and the cleaning crew we did see seemed unapproachable. If your looking for a good location this is the spot, but for a way less expensive stay consider a few streets down at less expensive hotels. Walking a few more blocks is worth it, paying for an overpriced motel sold as a hotel is not.

I normally don’t write reviews but if you actually want to sleep during your stay DON’T STAY HERE. The room is fine enough, the TV didn’t work and the shower didn’t drain properly but we aren’t that picky. The issue we had was the noise. Street cleaning was right next to our window as was the trash, which the smell kept coming into our room. Trash pick up was also right next to our window so we were woken up multiple times from 6-8. The front door squeaks and slams shut ever time someone leaves, which means it did that basically from 12-3 AM. Some people couldn’t get into the building so they banged on the door for hours because the keypad didn’t work. Perhaps staying on another floor would have been a different experience, but if you’re staying on the first floor I really recommend somewhere else! There also isn’t anyone to talk to like said in previous reviews, so be prepared to leave your bags somewhere else if you get here early you won’t be able to check in early either most likely. Overall don’t think the experience equaled to how much money we paid to stay here. There are a few other hotels in the quarter we’ve stayed on previous trips that had a much better experience and was basically noise free even being close to bourbon street.

The hotel itself is super cute and the location is great for the French Quarter. However, we had a lot of issues during our stay. Our code to get into the building never worked. We contacted Sonder multiple times with no long term solution. It felt like it wasn’t a big deal to them. We were able to get in through the bar connected to the courtyard, but it is only open from 4 to 10. The room itself was fine but there was mold in our shower, the bathroom door didn’t shut all the way, and every time we opened the door paint chips chipped off and spread all over the floor.

Ideal location but keep in mind that if you're staying in this area, you will be dealing with the sounds of nightlife. It's just a sacrifice you will have to make for the convenience of being so close to the fun. Rooms did the job, bed was comfortable and firm. The AC stopped working properly about halfway through our first day there. The shower head was extremely weak. This is an easy and inexpensive fix to satisfy future visitors. Just my two cents! Other than that we enjoyed our stay and I would certainly stay again.

Sonder was so good to us! We had some minor issues with a room and they immediately relocated us to a stay that was close by. They worked well with us and getting things taken care of so we could enjoy our trip! Their 24/7 assistance chat responded immediately and didn’t stop until we were taken care of and I really appreciated them. I will continue to book through Sonder and recommend them because of their customer service, room accommodations, and quality company.

We experienced a bait and switch. We booked a balcony 4 months in advance, and showed up to a ground floor. They moved us for an ‘upgrade’ in a different building. 3rd floor walk up and No window. Huh? We eventually got an opening door to a courtyard after 3 hours of back and forth. Since then we talked with New Orleans locals who claim that many do not like Sonder and what they are doing in the city. The bedding is clean and comfortable. They also answer the phone. Customer service was friendly but has no authority. It's also lacking basics, like a hook in the bathroom, no drawers, etc... Yes, it's a little cheaper than other spots, but is it worth it? debatable.

We stayed at Maison de Ville a few years ago and absolutely loved it! It was so cozy and welcoming and we felt like we were at a friend's home. It was so nice to sit in the parlor in the morning with coffee and breakfast and visit with the host and the cat Katrina. The courtyard patio was quiet and soothing. All of that is gone. In place of the parlor is a bar. And the courtyard is shared with bar patrons. No welcome, no host. You let yourself in and out. Southern hospitality is gone. The room was nice enough, but the bathroom was AWFUL. The bathroom decor was most definitely not New Orleans style. It was ugly. There were no shelves in the shower on which to place toiletries and the sink area was tiny. The "rocks" used for flooring hurt on bare feet that had been walking all day. And the sink and the toilet clogged from the beginning. We loved Maison de Ville because it's a historic home and because of the wonderful hospitality we experienced the first time. That is gone. We won't stay there again. I think we'd be happier at a hotel. (Also very sad to see how New Orleans itself has cheapened into a tacky tourist destination.)

I'm so sorry to read all this about what used to be one of the most elegant & charming venues in the Quarter. I worked there as a desk clerk while at Tulane in the 60s, when it was owned by "Louis & Earl," an interior decorator couple who lived a few blocks away in one of the most beautiful buildings w/ exquisite iron railings on Chartres. My parents & my wife & I thoroughly enjoyed our stays there several times before its decline, when room service delivered complimentary breakfasts of orange juice, chicory coffee, fresh croissants from the bakery down Royal, and great marmalade. A real loss to the Quarter.
