Only good thing about this hotel is the location, we had easy access to everything in New Orleans but besides that this place is not worth it. The building is older but it's obvious the owners have neglected the space, paint is chipping everywhere, floors are uneven (tripped a few times in our room) and cleanliness is lacking (found trash in our room and on the balcony). The shower will take forever to drain and will randomly switch from hot to cold. When we first got there we had trouble using our code to get in and contacted Sonder, to this day we have not had a reply. We did eventually get in but not sure why we even needed the door code when anyone could enter the hotel through the back bar door. It just felt unsafe having that door open all the time. During our week long stay at no point was the one small trashcan emptied, we had to use a shopping bag as a trash can. No room refresh was offered and the cleaning crew we did see seemed unapproachable. If your looking for a good location this is the spot, but for a way less expensive stay consider a few streets down at less expensive hotels. Walking a few more blocks is worth it, paying for an overpriced motel sold as a hotel is not.

Ideal location but keep in mind that if you're staying in this area, you will be dealing with the sounds of nightlife. It's just a sacrifice you will have to make for the convenience of being so close to the fun. Rooms did the job, bed was comfortable and firm. The AC stopped working properly about halfway through our first day there. The shower head was extremely weak. This is an easy and inexpensive fix to satisfy future visitors. Just my two cents! Other than that we enjoyed our stay and I would certainly stay again.

I'm giving 4 stars with a leaky a/c unit and wet carpet. This hotel is unbelievably charming. It's somewhere around 200 years old and former slave quarter/stables. Fountain in the middle of the courtyard. Close enough to Bourbon Street to smell the hot dog cart on the corner and someone drumming on a bucket, but not the bar 2 doors down. Court of Two Sisters is in the other side of the wall and smells delicious. With all that, unbelievably quiet and peaceful. Our bed was super comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. The online or text Guest Experience team responded to us within minutes. We have often talked of staying in the Quarter and this was the first time we stayed in a historic building. Lots of brick, slate and vines. If you are looking for "quintessential New Orleans" experience, this is the place to stay. We did have an inconvenience (my words) as we stated, but it has been resolved beyond our expectations and without question within 24 hours of checking in yesterday. We would absolutely recommend and I hope to be able to stay again.

I normally don’t write reviews but if you actually want to sleep during your stay DON’T STAY HERE. The room is fine enough, the TV didn’t work and the shower didn’t drain properly but we aren’t that picky. The issue we had was the noise. Street cleaning was right next to our window as was the trash, which the smell kept coming into our room. Trash pick up was also right next to our window so we were woken up multiple times from 6-8. The front door squeaks and slams shut ever time someone leaves, which means it did that basically from 12-3 AM. Some people couldn’t get into the building so they banged on the door for hours because the keypad didn’t work. Perhaps staying on another floor would have been a different experience, but if you’re staying on the first floor I really recommend somewhere else! There also isn’t anyone to talk to like said in previous reviews, so be prepared to leave your bags somewhere else if you get here early you won’t be able to check in early either most likely. Overall don’t think the experience equaled to how much money we paid to stay here. There are a few other hotels in the quarter we’ve stayed on previous trips that had a much better experience and was basically noise free even being close to bourbon street.

Google
Great little hotel. We stayed there decades ago when we were just teenagers, and it’s just as good as it was back then. Others have had bad reviews — I’m. It certain they’ve ever stayed at a New Orleans hotel before. This is the best we’ve stayed at without shelling out big bucks. We’ll be back for certain. Beware that if you stay near Two Sisters restaurant, the Jazz brunch happens every day and will wake you up. Bourbon, even though it’s literally right there, doesn’t cause any noise at all. Bonus: there was a “private” party in the courtyard while we were there. “Open bar” meant “here’s the bottle, have at it!”

Google
The hotel itself is super cute and the location is great for the French Quarter. However, we had a lot of issues during our stay. Our code to get into the building never worked. We contacted Sonder multiple times with no long term solution. It felt like it wasn’t a big deal to them. We were able to get in through the bar connected to the courtyard, but it is only open from 4 to 10. The room itself was fine but there was mold in our shower, the bathroom door didn’t shut all the way, and every time we opened the door paint chips chipped off and spread all over the floor.

Google
Location is great, but since it is so close to Bourbon street, the noise doesn't stop. The staff is very friendly, the hotel is beautiful and historic. The beds and pillows could be a bit nicer, and some of the rooms have very little space to store personal items while in them, so your belongings are a bit in the way, but since it is a historic home, it would be somewhat difficult to fix without some reconstruction, but more furniture and bigger sink areas would help. Water, tea, coffee and snacks are complimentary, fruit and pastries are served daily for breakfast, and there is a beautiful enclosed courtyard for the guests to enjoy. It is a charming experience overall, and you really get a feel of the French quarter history while staying in New Orleans.

Google
Sonder was so good to us! We had some minor issues with a room and they immediately relocated us to a stay that was close by. They worked well with us and getting things taken care of so we could enjoy our trip! Their 24/7 assistance chat responded immediately and didn’t stop until we were taken care of and I really appreciated them. I will continue to book through Sonder and recommend them because of their customer service, room accommodations, and quality company.

Yelp
Hotel staff was very nice however, the hotel is very outdated, rooms were clean. Although our floor look like it was dirty, but it was just old. The grounds are beautiful, with a courtyard setting. Right outside of the French Quarter, but within walking distance very quiet area.

Yelp
Do not look at any reviews prior to 2021 when Sonder took over this historic hotel. We have stayed at this historic hotel in the past when older reviews indicated this space had a fabulous staff and maintained a small luxury historical hotel in the heart of the French Quarter. The Sonderization of this hotel is a travesty. There is not a single solitary person who is staffed at the building. If you have any problem with anything with your room, you must use an App that might or might not work and it takes hours to get a reply. There is no local number to call for any type of assistance. We finally got call center number in the room. Need additional toilet paper, you call a call center or use the app. Your toilet is clogged? App or call the call center. Considering the age of the building, having no staff is detrimental to the building itself, outside of being unacceptable customer service for a place that is relying on years of great reviews focused on service. Everyone we saw in the hotel had pretty much the same experience and was disappointed. Each room had a single solitary tiny bathroom trash can. There is no housecleaning service so no trash is picked up until you check out. This might help explain the huge roaches we saw upon check-in. The patio flowers are dying because they aren't watered or cared for. There wasn't even a plastic cup for brushing one's teeth. The website touts the bar/lounge, which has nothing to do with the hotel, which the bar employees are quick to mention. They lease space for the bar. (It's a good place to grab a specialty cocktail.) The Sonderization of this formerly fabulous small hotel has transformed it into an expensive, uncared for hostel. If Sonder's 27-year-old CEO thinks this is the future of the hotel experience, he needs to clearly state this at each of the properties instead of marketing a bait and switch of his Sonders.

Yelp
My husband booked this hotel for our anniversary trip to New Orleans last week. Let me just say NO!!! We were assigned to Room #1. Room #1 is right next to the front door of this place and right on the street-side. We heard the front door slamming all night every night. We heard noise all night every night from being street side. The AC would not go below 75 and temps were up near 100 in New Orleans. I had to go out and purchase a fan to help cool room and buffer some of the outside noise. The fitted sheet on the bed would NOT stay on the bed at all. The bathroom was HORRIBLE and claustrophobic to say the least. No counter or hooks in bathroom. Nowhere to put anything. And right outside the main door on the sidewalk, sat three fowl smelling trash cans that reeked of vomit. These smelly cans sat here for our entire stay. And since nobody works here- literally, no employees work here except a bartender, there is no one to report issues to. Next time we visit NOLA we will be staying across the street at Sheraton Four Points. I recommend you do the same.

Yelp
This used to be an amazing place to stay full of charm until Sonder ran it into the ground and ruined the courtyard use by leasing it out to a bar so it can't be used by guests and ended excess to Court of two Sisters. The carpets are stained and smell of urine and all hospitality is gone. I'll keep my memories of it in its prime......having chicory coffee and fresh croissants by the courtyard fountain with the live jazz band playing over the fence. She was a grand old dame.

Melissa B.

Yelp
I posted multiple pictures of the bugs in my bed and they were taken down. I guess Yelp can be bought off. I was refunded $200 of my $1,327.86 for my four night stay which I cut down to two nights because I was so disgusted I "checked out" early. Gee, thanks.

Yelp
This property is very cute so imagine my disappointment at the horrible experience I had here. My friend and I stayed in a 2 bedroom suite which is off the courtyard. The room had brick walls which were crumbling every day and on every surface around the room to include the box with the open coffee filters. It would land on me, the bed, and I even brought quiet a bit of grit home with me. At no point could we walk barefoot in this room. Our room runs the length of the hotel courtyard which is seating for the hotel bar. Needless to say, it gets noisy once the bar opens (great drinks at the bar though). On the other side of the rear courtyard wall and my wall back is Court of Two Sisters. During brunch, the jazz band sounded like they were in my bedroom from 9 am till they finished! As far as the restaurant, you hear all their business from their opening to closing routines. There are also other bars that back up to the courtyard and their noise carries over. Needless to say, YOU WILL NOT SLEEP ON THIS TRIP. The bathroom is another annoyance. There is not storage space save for a small metal storage tower that is directly in front of the towel hooks. If you pull it out to make room for your towel on the towel hooks, this tower is even more in your way. Plus, the shower is open so the tower gets wet (imagine everyone before you having their shower water bounce onto this tower - doubt they are cleaning it). Everything gets wet from steam and shower spray. EVERYTHING! Even the "far" wall. Small note, they have an automatic system for watering their plants. One of these is over the door into the room. You will have to walk through a shower to get in or out when it's going off. It also creates a puddle so your shoes/feet will get wet. Not well planned out. For the rooms in the house, I can only imagine the inconvenience of them. Room 1 has street noise, front door slamming noise, is in the lobby, and noise from the rest of the patrons getting to the courtyard and bar. The other rooms are up a tall, narrow set of stairs. Good luck with your bags. I really want to like this place. It's cute and has potential but....

Yelp
Sonder sucks. This property is not so much of a hotel as kind of an air and b. Upon arrival, our code just to get into the property didn't work. There is no staff their to greet you. Instead, I had to call and text repeatedly to get someone in Manila to find someone to let us in. Apparently, we got there too early, and after waiting outside for over half an hour, they made us pay for early check in. There is no maid service while you're there. They only clean upon your departure. We asked for late checkout, but they refused to accommodate us after making asked wait for over a day for an answer. The only reason my review is two stars instead of one is because my wife liked the vintage vibe of the room.

Julie F.

Yelp
So hotel gives you a code that you can't get in leaves you in a bad neighborhood has no front desk has no elevator doesn't tell you this s*** until it's just about paid for it and make it sound all glamorous but who wants to stay at a hotel in New Orleans with no security guard or anyone at the front desk not safe especially if you go out to smoke tried to get out of it because the room they showed me had a toaster microwave coffee maker and when I called they had none of that it was all false advertisement tried to cancel it through Capital One was unable to do that as well don't ever stay in any of their hotels complete nonsense but it was worth staying in a different hotel with the security guard and a front desk people and free coffee so worth having to pay for two hotels I know it sounds ridiculous but I would have not wanted to stay at this hotel I would have not felt safe at all they are a bunch of bait and switch company who does not deserve to be in business

Yelp
This hotel is probably the worst stay we ever had in New Orleans, and we come once a year. The only good thing about this hotel was the location, a half block from Bourbon Street. The reservation and check in and out process is all on line. This is a pain. There are no live people at the hotel to help with any issue and believe me there were many. First, there was mold on the crown molding in the room. Also, the amenities state that they have gourmet coffee in the rooms. Nope, no coffee, no coffee pot. There is a safe in the room, it did not work, when I contacted the virtual assistant for this issue, I was assured by the next morning they would have someone out to help. It was not done by 5 pm so i contacted them again. I was advised that this was not one of the amenities provided and would not be fixed as it was not to be used. The floors are rotting, they will fall in soon, the pictures they show on the web site of the gleaming wood floors are a set up, and not true. Probably photo shopped. The bed had no box spring and was laying on a piece of plywood. It was suppose to be a queen, nope it was a double. We ended up sleeping sideways, our feet hanging over the bed so we had room to sleep. No Cable, only Chromecast, and it took us awhile to figure out how to use it. No instructions, evidently they think we want to hang out in their moldy ugly room with nothing to do. You can only do so much in a day, and sometimes you need to chill. When I finally figured out the Chromecast the wifi was too slow to stream anything. Let's just say we were not pleased. Pay for cable in the rooms, you charge enough. My husband and I are use to no service during you stay since Covid, we travel regularly and this is everywhere. I do need to say that since there is no service during a stay trash bags need to be provided. We had one small trashcan in the room, and when I say small, I mean tiny. We kept taking our trash to the big trashcans down stairs when we left the room. The only thing this company seems to care about is money, they don't care about the customer experience from what i am seeing here in the reviews. We will be back to New Orleans, but we will not rent from any Sonder hotels in any city.

Yelp
This is our favorite hotel in the French Quarter. It is a historic landmark, having once served as slave quarters for one of the local mansions. The rooms where the slaves lived might be the oldest structure in New Orleans, pre-dating the Civil War by decades. This gorgeous hotel sits half a block off Bourbon Street, but is protected from the noise by its configuration. Two stories of rooms with balcony access sit around a quiet courtyard with a working fountain and the usual jungle of plants. The stairs are rickety, the floor boards chatter, but the beds are made for long, deep sleeps. This dark pink-colored gem is the most comfortable hotel in town. On the other side of Bourbon Street, the Maison owns a group of cottages. We have never stayed in these, but hear good reports. They have also re-opened their bistro recently, but we will probably never eat there, with this city so full of great established restaurants. But the main building of this hotel is the only address we need for a romantic night in New Orleans.

Yelp
they switched our room to a small room the day before we arrived & did not tell us , they were rude when we called 0/10

Yelp
We had a wonderful time over New Years at MDV. Love the private court yard. Only issue was an ac problem which was resolved quickly. Will definitely be back on our next trip to New Orleans. The location is perfect for all the best restaurants.

Yelp
This hotel was truly beautiful. The rooms were unique and historical. It's so close to Bourbon street! Like one door away! We got complementary bathrobes and free wifi. This hotel made this whole experience so enjoyable for me.

Martin L.

Yelp
Wonderful, small hotel in the heart of the Quarter. Just steps off Bourbon Street, yet a quiet haven of relaxation . Wonderful, helpfull staff. Recommend without hesitation

Alissa M.

Yelp
Every aspect of our stay was magical! The staff is unbelievably welcoming, kind and considerate - it was my birthday and they even surprised me with a bottle of champagne! While this is a very noisy part of town (just a couple doors down from Bourbon St.) and we were on the street side of the hotel, we barely heard a sound, unless we ventured out on our balcony, where we could watch the goings on from a safe distance. There were gorgeous antique paintings hanging on the walls, a sparkling chandelier with a dimmer switch, one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in and our very own voodoo doll (which you can purchase and take with you). Tea, ice cold water and sodas are available in the foyer any time and you can enjoy them in the lovely secluded courtyard when you need a break from your activities. I can't recommend this place enough - if I could give 6 stars I would!

Eric R.

Yelp
The Maison de Ville was an excellent hotel with exceptional staff. Now that it's a "Sonder", there is no staff. Not a single person on site. If you have an issue with your room, you have to try to use the app to solve it. There are no beverages downstairs, no snacks, no people, nothing. Just you, the room, and the app. If the room was $50 per night, all that would be fine. But it's considerably more expensive than that. So many great hotels in New Orleans. The "Sonder" is no longer one of them.

Yelp
Just a half block off the famous Bourbon Street in the French Quarter on Toulouse is an amazing experience if you are ready for the experience of a historic 2 story, 11 room boutique hotel experience! Our bed was very comfortable, the room was well appointed and clean, and being able to sip coffee in the courtyard while listening to the excellent jazz band at The Court of Two Sisters restaurant next door was just a little icing on the cake. We were able to get some helpful hints from Guy and Darin, so we turned in our lease car and took the set price taxi to French Quarter. There is limited parking during Mardi Gras, so it just makes sense. Coffee, pastries, and fruit were complimentary in the cozy lobby. Very quaint, personal, and wonderful if you love the "experience" of history. We had an under-the-counter fridge in our room. It came in handy because we liked to finish the day with champagne in the courtyard. A grocery store is over on the next block and of course there are bars and restaurants everywhere! If you are super-sensitive to noise, perhaps a stay off the French Quarter is advised. I did not experience any bad noises, but my room was not on Toulouse Street.

Yelp
This hotel is charming, clean and well located. Staff is also very nice and helpful. I wish they had proper breakfast, instead of just coffee and pastries. This might be one of the reasons why I felt it was overpriced and I am giving it 4 stars.
google avatar

Yelp
I came in to New Orleans with my husband for a convention last weekend and had the opportunity to stay here and I couldn't be happier. Great location, simply wonderful and charming boutique hotel and undoubtedly the most comfy bed I've ever slept on! The staff here actually treated us as if they cared what we thought, how we felt and made sure that we will return. If you stay here (and I strongly recommend that you do), say hi to Trina for me.
google avatar

Karen A.

Yelp
Great spot, quiet and peaceful in the middle of everything in the French quarter. Friendly and helpful staff.

Lucy B.

Yelp
Just a jewel. Obviously the pride, joy and hobby of a person, (or people), not a big corporation that gives you a number to identify you! It is, elegant, cozy, intimate and luxurious. Step out the front door, and you join the hustle and bustle of The Quarter. Step back in to a quiet, almost secret oasis. Ask for the Tennessee Williams suite! The staff members are unique, interesting and ridiculously helpful. It is fun to be steeped in history for a little while (minus the inconveniences);get a sense of the old New Orleans at the same time enjoying luxuries the old New Orleans could not possibly have offered.

Yelp
Hey everyone I know, and to the ones I don't. Let me tell you about a Great hotel I discovered in New Orleans about 1/4 a block off Burton street the Maison De Ville. It is right there around anything you want to do or see and the folks that work there go way out of their way to make sure you are happy. The beds are great the service is amazing and if you ever get to go to New Orleans it is a must stay hotel with great New Orleans coffee and hot rolls waiting for you as soon as you get there! And the things they put on your bed are part of the New Orleans history. Do your self a huge favor and book a room at the Maison De Ville!! I did and I will again! One other thing, it has a beautiful court yard so just sit back relax and enjoy!! My name is Johnny Lee and I travel all over the country singing Lookin For Love In All The Wrong Places. I love Maison De ville. Try it you will be glad you did. Thank me later !!:)))

Paul D.

Yelp
Really such a great place. Stayed in the Tennessee Williams Suite and was worth it to have the extra space. The courtyard is peaceful and comfortable. The staff is awesome, very helpful and accommodating. If you want a great level of service in a historic, quaint hotel try this place.

Brad D.

Yelp
After looking forward to staying at Maison de Ville, our flight out of Dallas along with all other flights for the next 30 hours were cancelled due to icy conditions in New Orleans. After hiding from me for 3 days, I finally got through to someone at the hotel to inquire about refunding or at least rescheduling my reservation. I was told emphatically that they would not refund a dime of my reservation nor would they even entertain the idea about crediting me for a future stay. Steer clear of this place. After telling the bank to stop payment, the hotel personally called my banker to dispute the stop payment. Ultimately they prevailed based on their reservation agreement and promptly screwed me out of $800. I get the cancellation policy issue as you don't want people reserving rooms and then cancelling leaving you with a room you are not able to book at the last minute. However, when the city your hotel is in is completely iced out to the rest of the world, a little understanding would be in order. In their case, it was not.
