Really friendly front desk staff. This place was a great location, we were able to walk pretty much everywhere we wanted to go. The lobby has lockers to store luggage which was super convenient both when we checked in and checked out, as we had early and late flights. The room itself was great, no complaints at all. Would definitely stay here again.

Google
The hotel itself is okay. The technology is convenient so you don’t need a front desk, the rooms are on the small side and we paid premium by booking early. It turns out that booking later saves quite a bit of money because it’s almost $150 Canadian less expensive to book late. My friend and co-traveler booked a room for his family next-door to ours on Priceline and he actually has a larger room. The prices also fluctuate so there may be an advantage to waiting to book to get the lowest possible rate.

Overall, the place is fine. It was clean with a well-stocked kitchen. We liked having the extra space. The communication was excellent, and we had no trouble using the codes to access the building. There were little things that were annoying, like not having good lighting anywhere except the bedroom and not having easily accessible outlets for charging. They also provided ear plugs for a reason.

Front desk staff were all so nice and helpful! Room was spacious and had everything we needed. King bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows. Great neighbourhood with good walkability. Bathroom was a bit small. Overall a really great experience.

Lovely place for a quick stay.... rooms clean and tidy... not fancy but adequate for a good stay... well equipped... near to some good places to eat out at... and walkable to Granville island and downtown... would definitely stay here again...staff and team very helpful... thank you

What is all the fuss about?||I really struggled to understand how this hotel is reviewed so highly. But I’ll start on the positives:||- good location for exploring Vancouver|- easy check in and check out ||However, there were several disappointing aspects. ||- The room we were in (403) was extremely dated and dirty, nothing like the rooms that are pictured on the website. ||- The bathtub was stained and grimey. ||- The floor in the bathroom exuded water when you stood on it. ||- The curtains didn’t cover the windows so it was very light in the bedroom. ||All of this is far from ideal, particularly when we are travelling with a 7 month old baby. ||Perhaps we got unlucky with our room. But we were expecting more and came away disappointed.||I tried speaking with their customer service team who were unhelpful. Apparently they tried to visit us in the room but we weren’t around - why would we be sitting around in our hotel room all day?! A message on the chat would have been helpful.

Just like being at any Marriott from the bed to the pillow and overall building maintenance. Loved the area and being home after 2 years. Great location right by the beach within 2 minutes walk. Easy parking out front and the hostesses were always friendly without question.

Google
This is a quaint hotel in Vancouver, and it's located a few minutes away from English Bay Beach. A key is not needed for access, and instead a code is e-mailed to guests, which is reassuring for security, and essential items such as towels and tissues are located in a cabinet in the main lobby. The staff is professional and ready to assist at all times.

Yelp
So the hotel has got everything going for it: location, clean and comfortable rooms with all amenities, hot breakfast included, everything is top notch. But, placards at the reception and in the rooms, their language leave you with impression that Nurse Ratched from "One Flew of The Cuckoo's Nest" is running the place. I understand that there are guests that don't behave and don't follow the rules, but this kind of wording is over the line and makes guests feel uncomfortable, so I'm taking one star off just for that. This is not how a hospitality business should communicate with customers.

Yelp
Looking at the Sunset Inn, you wouldn't think it's a hotel. That's because it originally wasn't! Previously, it was an apartment complex which also explains its location in the middle of a residential area...with a rusty orange exterior, you can't miss it. We were spending a couple nights in Vancouver and found that the Inn is in such a central location, about a 10-minute walk to the Granville Island Ferry and a 30-minute walk down to the waterfront. Plus, there are a ton of restaurant options just a short walk away. Super convenient! Now for our stay, four of us comfortably fit into one room. We had a bedroom, living area with two pull-out sofa beds, nice bathroom, small dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. You could cook an actual meal here if you wanted. Unfortunately there is no central AC, but they accommodate with fans and portable AC units. However, even with those, on a sunny day, the room heats up quick. Because this was not originally designed as a hotel and therefore doesn't have a kitchen downstairs, the complimentary breakfast is limited to breads, danish / muffins, fruit and juice. They do have a waffle maker as well if you're looking for something hot. A very starchy selection, but provides some light bites! Service was excellent! Elvis, the front desk receptionist, was welcoming, polite and knowledgable about the city's attractions. Our room attendants were also great as we never had to ask for extra towels, shampoos, etc. Reference the binder on the living room desk for a list of local restaurants and those suggested by the staff. As for a couple other notes, there's free wifi and a (somewhat tight) private parking lot in the alley behind the Inn. Thanks Sunset Inn and Suites for a pleasant and comfortable stay, I'd gladly come again! Note: For those of you who are AAA members, look into their AAA rate!

Yelp
If you enjoy staying in an outdated hotel with dingy narrow halls and love rules on signs everywhere with fees for violations, printed in the smallest of fine print, then look no further, you have found your hotel! As an extra bonus, the hotel management, which includes a red headed woman and a Napoleon complex guy named Brian, operate the place like a concentration camp. One of the many rules includes mandatory mask wearing. Other than at the airport, I have not been mandated to wear a mask anywhere over the past six months, so it was no longer a habit. At no other place in Vancouver did I have to put on a mask during my stay, except for this hotel. When a business requires extra safety measures beyond what is required by law, I question why they think they know more than the leading health experts who decide what mandates should be in place. A specific incident happened on September 19, 2022 at a time when Covid levels in Vancouver were bottoming out to the lowest levels since Covid started. In this instance my mask was going to require digging through my bag, and since it takes about 8 seconds to walk from the elevator out the front door, I simply put my hand over my mouth, pinched my nose and held my breath. This is safer than wearing a mask because I wasn't breathing. Brian and his red headed female coworker started screaming at me to put on a mask as through this were November of 2020 when cases were peaking and there were no vaccines. I responded once I got out the front door to indicate that I'm good. Brian had the audacity to chase me down the street, yelling at me like one of the crazy people loitering out front that he was going to cancel my reservation. I didn't want to relocate on the last day of my trip so I assured him I would wear a mask in the lobby thereafter. When I came back, the red headed woman brow beat me, saying it was impossible for me to hold my breath for that long, even though I had just done so when I had left an hour before. No one in the service industry should ever treat guests with that much disrespect and enforce rules that defy logic and science. Do not book here and if you have, cancel your reservation and stay elsewhere. With all of the nanny rules taped everywhere around the hotel and concentration camp style of enforcement, it is very uncomfortable to be here, especially as a gay traveler.

Yelp
Selected this hotel based on Trip Advisor ratings, and it's really good. Spacious rooms with kitchen, great location near sea wall, good service, clean bathroom and comfy beds, everything worked. Includes continental breakfast which is pretty good, if you like carbohydrates: make your own waffles, also croissants, muffins, cereal. You are served on the small lobby, bring your plates down from your room, and bring your food back up to the room to eat and do your own dishes. Pretty efficient for the hotel, a. It inconvenient for guests. But that's minor. We very much enjoyed our stay and recommend Sunset. Service is really good. Upon arrival there was an issue with our reservation, and the front desk clerk (shout out to Elvis!) resolved it quickly and efficiently.

Yelp
Positives: Most bang for your buck. We were upgraded from a studio to a 1 bedroom apartment for free. The one bedroom was more like a mini apartment housed with a separate bedroom, living room, dining room and kitchen. Free parking was also a plus. Instant hot water. Free breakfast - cereal, muffins, juices Located next to many popular restaurants at walkable distances in downtown. Negatives: Bathroom is a bit small, but this is me trying to be picky.

Yelp
Brought hubby's cousin to Vancouver/Richmond BC for a little trip and we opted to stay here. It's a quaint space, nothing overly amazing or unique. Here's the quick break down of the good and not so goods: Cons Noisy AC unit Small parking lot Floors aren't carpeted Security safe doesn't work Pros Free wifi Free parking Free breakfast Full kitchen The parking situation was a little off putting only because the lots were small and the car slots were tight. One lot is uncovered and the other one is covered. Breakfast was a standard continental breakfast. They did have waffles which I always like waffles :) Loved having a full fledge kitchen to do some cooking "at home" vs having to go dine out. It's nice to just chill and kick it in pjs especially when you're traveling with a toddler. Wasn't too happy about the loud AC unit although it did double as white noise to help the babe sleep at night. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back here to stay since there are other options with similar prices. The main reason we chose this place was because of its relatively decent location and it included a place to park.

Yelp
pros: Walking distance to most places we wanted to eat Roomy interior of our king sized suite with kitchen. Free wifi Free parking Free continental breakfast Neutragena products in the bathroom. Cons: Little to no parking Very small lobby- not very inviting looking Lots of vending machines (means iffy place in my book) Staff get a C on the friendly/professional scale- just ok at times. Lots of trash in the alley directly behind them up against their fence. Ok place.

Yelp
This is our go to place for company visits to Vancouver. They are apartments turned into suites so full kitchen and living room area. Kitchen is essential if you're spending more than only a couple of days to save on dinning out! It's equipped with the basic kitchen necessities like pans, pots, knives, dish ware and so on. Every room I've had so far has been different. One might only have one couch and others two. One has a long kitchen while the other has a bigger dining room area. One vs. two sinks in the bathroom. But they all have the same old timer feel. Breakfast is included - you'll find a waffle station, cereals, baked goods, juices and coffee. If you forget a handy umbrella since, let's face it it always rains in Vancouver, they'll happily lend you one during your stay. Oh! There's a bowl of jelly beans waiting for you as you head to the main elevator. Yumm! The staff has always been really friendly and accommodating. You'll also find cute notes around the suite on other things they offer. It's like staying at a families bed and breakfast sort of vibe.

Yelp
Pros: Clean, good value, large room with kitchen, friendly staff, free parking, great location (Davie St. has a lot of interesting restaurants and is close to everything). Cons: I could hear a little bit of noise from a nearby club at night. Breakfast isn't great, but I wasn't planning on eating in the hotel and the breakfast is included in the low rate already

Yelp
Absolutely loved my stay here! The location is just off of Davie, so walking to anywhere and everywhere was a breeze. The price was reasonable and not expensive in my opinion. A big bonus is they have a small parking area for guests which is free. It's a little tight underground, but we drove a Honda Accord so not a big issue. The room was beautiful (stayed on the 8th floor) with a balcony that faced the alley. It wasn't a problem for me, because I wasnt there for the view. The room was clean, the bathrooms were equipped with Neutrogena products, and the kitchen was very useful in storing snacks. The workers were LOVELY. They were more than willing to help my significant other and I out with places to go. All in all, I will definitely be staying here again and highly recommend the place!

Yelp
We arrived in Vancouver around 830 pm. The first hotel we went to was sold out. We had to find something quick as we were tired and hungry. We found this hotel. We had a 1 bedroom suite with a king bed. It was perfect! It had a full frig so we could chill our sodas. It had plenty of space. The bed was very comfortable. The front desk agent recommended a steakhouse within 10 min walk. They had free parking, but fills up quick. They offer a simple complimentary breakfast. The bathroom and shower were great with good pressure. You get a lot of bang for your buck! I would definitely stay here again if in Vancouver.

Yelp
Excellent value for the price. The location is perfect: 3 blocks from sunset beach. No hidden fees: wi-fi, parking and continental breakfast included (note, the word continental). Friendly and patient staff who will answer any question you may have and will even print directions, give you recommendations on things to do... This is an old apartment building so you can't beat the space of those rooms: large room, bathroom, kitchen, even a small balcony.

Yelp
We have stayed here twice now. The location is perfect. We got a room with kitchen, dining room an living room. Very homie, nice and clean. The staff are really nice and very helpful. We love it. It's the only place we will stay now.

Yelp
We had an excellent stay at Sunset Inn! Value was definitely 5 stars. The location was great as we were a short walk away from the Aquatic Center ferry stop to Granville Island, and just outside the hotel was Davies Street (aka Castro district of Vancouver). I really liked that parking was included in the stay as well. We were graciously upgraded to a one bedroom, which was a pleasant surprise, and I was impressed with the rooms. They had full kitchens and our room had a small balcony looking toward Sunset Beach/Granville Island. Neutrogena products are given for the bathroom, and hot water/water pressure was sufficient. The furnishing may be a bit dated, but given the value, location, and hospitality of the staff, the furnishing was really a non-issue. Breakfast was ok - there was a waffle station (you get the batter where the rest of the food is, then the waffle irons are around the corner, next to the gym), fruit, breads, etc. We did not use the WiFi, but it is offered, and I hear it's quite fast. Even after we checked out, hubby forgot some clothing in the room, and Sunset Inn called to inform us (since we were already past the border, I asked that they ship it to our home address). All in all, we received Canadian hospitality at its finest. I look forward to staying there again.

Yelp
Convenient location, mediocre hotel. Bath, while visually clean, wreaked of mold that permeated the rest of the suite. Off-street parking is suitable for compact cars only. Everything a bit worn. The modest price differential to, say the Courtyard Marriott, isn't worth it in my estimation.

Yelp
My fellow travelers, I am deeply ashamed and I beg your forgiveness for neglecting to review this hotel which I stayed at nearly two years ago! If you feel "better late than never," please indulge this tardy review. We decided to book this hotel after reading reviews on Yelp and several other travel sites. We wanted to be right in the heart of Vancouver without necessarily being on Robson Street with all the other hotels. We also were traveling up from Seattle and wanted a place to park the SUV we had rented and not have to pay an arm and a leg for parking. This place certainly fit the bill. Some of the good points: 1. Free parking! It doesn't get any better than that, in my book. 2. It's on a fairly quiet residential street, but within blocks of plenty of action. 3. Continental breakfast included every morning. 4. Globe & Mail newspaper every morning. 5. Friendly people checking us in, and giving restaurant suggestions. 6. Kitchen and dishes so if you want to cook some simple things, and save some money, you can do it. 7. A decent TV. 8. Best of all, it's located in one of my favourite cities: Vancouver! It's like being in a studio apartment, really, and just a very pleasant place to stay. We would return here in a heartbeat. Anybody want to give a family of four free round-trip airline tickets to YVR? If so, thank you in advance for your kindness!

Yelp
Not sure this was the right neighborhood for us, but service was very friendly. Elvis greeted us and advised us during our stay. He was fabulous. All the other staff were just as friendly and helpful. We liked having a dining area and full kitchen in our room with a refrigerator and freezer that actually worked. The microwave took longer to heat up food than usual. The free breakfast was a little disappointing and not worth getting up for. You also have to bring down your own tray with plates and cups to get food and drink: waffle, cereal, fruit, juice, and coffee. There is a cleaning fee or you can clean the kitchen yourself. Be aware when you check in that the front entrance is on a narrow one-way street. There is only enough room for one car in the loading zone. The hotel parking is in the alley behind the hotel and is gated which you need an access card for which you cannot get until you check in. Also, there is a hospital with emergency services a block down. Ambulance sirens are blaring all night. We heard every one even from the 9th floor.

Yelp
What a awesome find. The Sunset Inn & Suites is more like an apartment complex or condo you'd find in Hawaii. The wife and I are in town (I'm sitting here using their free wi-fi to write this) and the room is fantastic. Easily 700 sq. ft, with couches, the worlds best bed (I'm going to steal it and ship it back to San Jose) Free breakfast, great location, helpful staff, secured parking, and really fair price for what you get. I'll certainly be back next time I'm headed to BC.

Yelp
If you're looking for a decent, cheap hotel in downtown Vancouver, this place is probably your best bet. We snagged an $89 rate, which included breakfast, parking and an internet connection. While the hotel was overall fairly nice and our rate was a complete steal with parking included, I don't know if we'd stay here again. The rooms have been redone very nicely, nice hardwood floors in the living room, new counters in the bathroom and kitchen, etc. We only had three small negatives during our stay. Even though the hotel is non-smoking, I noticed that the hallways and elevators reek of smoke (our room was fine). They have their continental breakfast in the lobby, which is fairly small so there isn't room for a variety of things (it was only bagels and cereal when we were there so we went out for breakfast). The free parking at the hotel was what annoyed my boyfriend the most (he was doing the driving that day). They apparently have some parking under the building but we couldn't get our room card to work, so we parked in the small area behind the building. If you are driving a truck or larger SUV you will not have fun trying to park in that little lot. If I was looking to save money and needed to stay downtown, I'd consider staying again.

Yelp
This place WAAAY exceeded my expectations of both customer service and physical space. Albeit, all Canadians might be nicer than the average American, but these particular Canadians went out of their way to make our stay welcoming and relaxing. When you get to the Sunset Inn and Suites, the first thing you will notice is the building, which is old and kind of hideous. The parking was kind of hard to find at night without ever having been here before (turns out it's in the back!) and from the outside the building did not give me confidence. That said, my fears were immediately dissipated upon entering their very modern and well kept lobby. The decor is tasteful and comfy--modern, but with an inspired touch of warmth and a fire place that makes you want to sit down and relax while you let your significant other deal with the check-in process. When I stepped into our room for the weekend, I was stunned at first by the cleanliness and comfy decor but even more thrilled when I realized how spacious it was. They called it a suite, but it must've been an apartment at one time or another because it had a living room, a kitchen, a decent sized bathroom, a small dining room, and a bedroom big enough to comfortable host a king sized bed. The room also came with a big screen tv, dishes to make tea or eat dinner on, a comfortable desk to work at, and a patio! It was so much more than we anticipated, and so comfortable! The staff were also excellent. We felt welcome from the moment we walked in. When I hurt my foot walking around the park and needed band-aids to cover the blisters, the gentleman at the front desk was happy to oblige. When we had to check out around 11 on Sunday but needed to leave the car in their lot for a few more hours of touring, they were perfectly polite and told us not to worry about it and to take all the time we needed. I honestly have zero complains about Sunset Inn. I would highly recommend this place for a trip to Vancouver on a budget. For what we paid, we got an outstanding level of service and an outstanding room. In fact, I wish we could've stayed longer. It was nicer than my apartment back in Seattle. 4/5 stars simply because I think of a five star hotel as a true luxury experience--but while this was not luxurious, it was everything one gets from the comfort of home and more besides.

Yelp
My best friend and I come to Canada 1-2 times a year. He found this gem through some friends about 4 years back and we stay here every time now. It's right off of Davie. In the heart of Vancoever. You can walk around to Stanley park where you can rent bikes and go around the entire island (around 8 miles and takes less than an hour), take a small boat over the Granville island where fun awaits and amazing delicacies lie. Tons of small vendors, stores and food. Truly not to miss. The staff here at Sunset are awesome. Elvis will take care of you and knows the area well if you have questions. Michael is the general manager and is very accommodating. The suites we get are large and can accommodate up to six people each. 1 bedroom with a queen size bed and 2 pull out couches. Small kitchen and 1 bathroom with double sinks. We try to get room 1105 as it has a bit more of a view. Breakfast is served in the main lobby every am. Fresh fruits, coffee, bagels, croissants and fresh made waffles with syrup. Bomb. Free Wi-fi and one free parking spot per room is also a bonus! If looking for a great place to stay, this is your joint!

Yelp
Great for families who want some space & own kitchen to cook, though crazy to do that considering our great restaurant scene. It's a nice hotel hidden in a residential rental apartments area, prob. most Vancouverites wouldn't know about. Not in a trendy area, but close to the main st. of Davie, so for tourists, good for walking around kicking tires, always lots of ppl here in this gay-friendly area---just not much shopping here. But walkable to the city core, though it's a brisk 20min. walk to Pacific Centre mall. Also a good walk to English Bay. Free parking, internet, continental breakfast, kitchens have granite countertops & hardwood floors, and now til June, pretty good rates, starting at $75 for a standard room!

Yelp
1. Hotel stay was fine although they can improve more in their choice of interior decor/paint. For me, it looks creepy and a bit dark inside bec of the choice of wall paper/paint. 2. Reception/Front desk - disappointing specially with Michael ... very unfriendly, unpleasant looking guy. Elvis was very accommodating and friendly enough to introduce himself to us the moment we were checking in and pointed out to Michael to introduce us but this Michael did not even bother to look at us to say "hi" "hello" "welcome to Sunset blah blah".. We even say "Hi Michael" still no reaction! First impression lasts right? I mean.. come on! You cannot be in the front desk if you will not practice your tiniest sense of humane friendliness. And after that day.. every time he's there in the front desk/reception area.. he/ll just look at us and not greet or not even a fake smile. I've been to a much more nice hotel and staff are friendly. Having an old kinda creepy hotel.. at least compensate with a nice staff. 3. Elevators are small.. it scares us. Hallway is tiny.. not for a claustrophobic individual. Parking, Wait I know its free parking, yay for that.. but beware it is not a nice parking. For compact or intermediate car its ok but if you have an SUV or a truck that parking is not for you.

Yelp
Usually my reviews about hotels are not good because I am a very picky person. But this Hotel has been one of the best place I've ever stayed in Canada and US. This is not a very luxurious hotel, but they offer much better stuff than the luxurious ones. 1. Prices are very clear and there are no surprises: free wi fi internet, free continental breakfast and free parking. This is awesome! 2. Simple but delicious breakfast with waffle made by ourselves. Loved the experience! 3. Very nice and polite people on the front desk. 4. Great location. 5. Very clean room!! 1st time i have seen a such clean room and bathroom. 6. Two bad things: bathtub clogs easily and building is a bit too old.

Yelp
Best place to stay in Vancouver. Extremely comfortable beds. Kitchen in the units. Very friendly and helpful staff. Convenient location to walking everywhere downtown.

Yelp
Nice, reasonably priced suits perfectly located off a side-street in the West End. Yes, the rooms were nice and clean and outfitted with everything you'd expect, but what really gives this place the extra star is the exquisite friendliness and helpfulness of all of the front desk staff. Elvis, Dave, & Arabella went above & beyond in giving us tips about the neighborhood, restaurants, etc., booked reliable & fair taxis for us every day, made us restaurant reservations on several occasions, & booked excursion reservations for us so that we could be sure to avoid any "tourist taxes." They were just the nicest, friendliest people ever & made us feel very welcome. If you're looking for something more pampering & luxurious, this place is probably not for you. The breakfast is not huge and because it's suites you need to bring down your own dishes & trays, but we found it more than adequate & also appreciated the fresh fruit that you could take with you for the day. But if you're looking for clean, nice, friendly, helpful, & perfectly located, it's hard to beat.

Yelp
Perfect location and great apartment on Burnaby. Free secure parking in the garage, helpful staff, a basic but free breakfast in the lobby. A short walk from Davie Street's restaurants and bars. The apartment was top quality and we even had a pretty good view of downtown and Granville Island. We were so impressed that we stayed there twice while touring around BC.

Yelp
This hotel is awesome! I stay here every time I come to Vancouver and it's always a great experience. The rooms are clean and fresh. I love having a kitchenette in the room, so that I can make a sandwich or have a quick bowl of cereal in my PJ's instead of going out for every single meal - which is a real money saver in Vancouver! They also have complimentary breakfast in the lobby, which is great. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the central location - you can walk to everything downtown Vancouver has to offer. There is also complimentary parking for guests, if you really want to bring your car. Vancouver is an expensive city and space is at a premium, so this is a big plus. The staff is wonderful. I recently had to cancel my reservation, due to an emergency, on the morning of my arrival and the staff were very quick to respond and sympathetic. I fully expected to be charged for such a late cancellation, but the hotel didn't charge me anything! Most hotels would charge your credit card for a late cancellation, so I was impressed. So, in case you couldn't tell from my review, I definitely recommend this hotel :-)

Diane K.

Yelp
For our 32nd Anniversary we've decided to go to Canada for the first time. When we've arrived Arabella was at the front desk. Since it was our first trip to Canada we needed little help with sightseeing in Vancouver. She was soooo helpful and kind enough to make the reservation for a tour. She spent about 45 minutes to help us with what was best tour for us. Place was clean and was like an one bedroom apartment! We were able to make food for ourselves. It was very convenient with full access of kitchen with plates and pots that we need to make food. It was a great experience and we certainly had a great time in Canada. Thank you Arabella for your assistance and help!! We will definitely come back to Sunset Inn next time.

Yelp
Centrally located, SPACIOUS, free parking, free and fast wifi, friendly staff, free continental breakfast (tip: skip the coffee and go to starbucks for actual caffeine), has a gym which consists of a mediocre selection of low weight dumbbells, a stationary bike, a 1980's elliptical and treadmill.

Loved this hotel and it's especially great if you have small children because the rooms are set up like apartments and come with a full kitchen. Also we were delighted about the parking and breakfast being included. The front desk staff are incredibly helpful. This place is not in the middle of downtown, but it's by Davie which had major bus service. It is not very close to the Skytrain station, but the aquabus is only a couple of blocks away. Stanley Park is about a mile away and Sunset Beach is a walkable 6 blocks. Lots of restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores within blocks. We stayed in one of the 1 bedroom junior suites and the king bed and pull out sofa bed were very comfortable. The bathroom is pretty small, but it's not important to us. The place is very clean. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I highly recommend this place! The front staff were extremely patient and courteous; the wifi was fast and worked in all areas of our suite; the suite was clean and very comfy and pleasurable to be in; free parking was a nice touch; we missed out on the continental breakfast but it was nice to know it was included as well. The only thing was that the orange juice tastes funny and gave us stomach aches I think. Otherwise we highly enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be back.

Yelp
I have to say, this place is one heck of a find/steal!! I scoured reviews on hotels.com to find a good, comfortable hotel/suite in a good location at a good price. I think I scored on this place! My boyfriend & I took a cruise from San Francisco to Vancouver. It was our first experience on a cruise and it was a short two-nighter, so I figured, why not hang out in Vancouver for a few extra days while we're here? Our final agreement was to stay for 3 extra nights in Vancouver before heading back to good ol' SF. Upon arriving at the hotel, one of the first things I noticed was that it was in the gay neighborhood in Vancouver (I dunno, but the rainbow flags hanging from every lightpole around kinda gave that one away). So, with that in mind, we knew that there would be good eats & a lot of fun to be had in the neighborhood. The second stand-out thing that I noticed upon arrival was that the Sunset Inn and Suites, while it is one block away from Davie Street (where many restaurants/nightclubs/bars are found), the street that the building itself is on appears to be primarily residential, and therefore, a little more quiet than one might assume, given the aforementioned. Now, that's not to say that it's an entirely quiet neighborhood, but it's not as loud as one would think, given its proximity to many conveniences (and on a side-note, there's a 24-hour convenience store & a Starbucks, both right around the corner from the building). I paid $123 per night (with tax included) on the hotels.com website. For that price, I didn't really expect much. When we walked in to the hotel, the front desk staff were immediately pretty darned helpful. Our cruise ship arrived in Vancouver at 10:30am, so we arrived at the hotel somewhere around 11:30am to 12pm. We opted to go by the hotel to see if we would be able to check in for shits & giggles, but I didn't expect for them to have our room ready. Lo and behold, they did not give us a hard time about arriving early (I believe their stated check-in time was 2 or 3pm, the standard), but in addition to that, they gave us a top-notch room! The room we have (had) was on the 11th floor of an 11-floor building - sweet!! So we get to our apartment (like the previous reviews state - an apartment is the best way to describe our place), & really, I'm not expecting much. We walk in and wow, both the boyfriend & I were somewhat floored by what greeted us! I'll try to be as descriptive here as possible. Upon opening up the door, there was a beautiful stone/tiled-floor entryway with two closets (the first of which had two robes in it, the second of which was more like a linen closet but it also had an in-room safe). A few steps in and to the left was the full bathroom (shower/tub combo), again with the stone/tiled-floor & a granite vanity. Directly in front of us was the hardwood-floored living room with a loveseat/sofabed, desk, coffee table, two side tables, a chair, a television stand with a 32" flat-screened TV & a small-ish dining table with seating & placemats for four. The most stunning aspect of the living room was the (almost) floor-to-ceiling window that covered half of the wall straight ahead of the entryway. Through that window was a gorgeous view of the downtown skyline with snow-capped mountains in the background. To the left of the entryway was the bedroom, with a king-sized bed, two nightstands, a closet, a dresser & a television. To the right of the entryway (and living room) was the kitchen - a full kitchen (albeit small), with a refrigerator, stove/oven combo, microwave, full-sized coffeepot & one of those single-cup brew coffeemakers. The kitchen also had most things one would need for a short stay - namely cooking utensils, silverware, plates/bowls, cups/mugs, cookware & a dish drying rack. And lest I forget, off of the living room is a deck (I believe all units have one), with two chairs, a small table & an ashtray (for us smokers - all the units are non-smoking)! My boyfriend and I kept peeking into all the nooks and crannies of the place & found that all of our needs would be covered for a much longer stay here! He was definitely impressed with my find in this place. During the course of our stay here, we also used the concierge service offered by the front desk & they were able to take care of reservations to restaurants like it was nobody's business! They were also able to get us cabs on a few occasions and those cabs always arrived within five minutes (usually less) of them making the call. This hotel also offers free parking in a secured garage at no additional charge, free wi-fi (although it can be kinda spotty - it was driving my bf crazy while he was trying to play WoW), a free continental breakfast daily, umbrellas for check-out, and they also have a small workout room with a treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike & freeweights. All in all, I highly recommend this place - for the quality, location & price.

Yelp
I thought I reviewed this place but I guess not. I've been to Vancouver twice so far and both times I have stayed at this place. It's great location wise, with Davie st. (the gay neighborhood) just a block away, Robson St. (the shopping st.) just a few more blocks away, and Granville Island (the farmers market) just a 2 minute ferry ride away. Really reasonable prices, parking garage, and the rooms are really decent. Pretty much my choice if I ever go back to Vancouver unless I'm looking for something a bit more upscale.

Yelp
This hotel is as good as it is because of their people. I arrived VERY early in the morning, as I had a reservation for a tour that left at 10:00 AM. The morning front desk man was as helpful as could be and let me check in at that time, even though we couldn't get into the room yet. When we returned late that evening, everything was waiting for us, ready to go! Elvis, the night deskman, was equally as helpful. The room itself was quite nice and spacious; however, the ONLY complaint I have is with the wi-fi - it is ATROCIOUS in this building. However, helpful as always, the staff loaned me a cable to access the internet in the lobby. Problem solved - for the moment. According to both members of the staff I spoke with, this will be fixed this year. That issue is the ONLY thing keeping this place from getting five stars from me. Instant hot water, clean and spacious rooms, and free parking in Vancouver's west end - I will DEFINITELY stay at this location again next time!!

Yelp
Our first time in Vancouver means we didn't know any better which is why we ended up here.....a mistake. For starters, our bathroom REEKED of mold somewhere behind the wall. We had to keep the bathroom door shut at all times to be able to bear being in the place and open the windows wide at night so we could sleep (manager said "you must have a really good nose, it's one of the rooms that's being re-plumbed!" ...,makes you wonder why they are renting it out knowing this). The care and cleanliness of the place left much to be desired as well: noticeable stains on curtains and wallpaper, spots on the laminate floor, venitians askew, old carpet in bedroom. The underground parking is extremely tight and yes, the elevator area equally so, with stainless doors covered in handprints...and did I mention the paper thin walls in the rooms? Gross...

Yelp
Every year I go up to Vancouver Pride and I stay at the Wall Centre which is great, but this year my friends wanted to stay somewhere different. Sunset Suite turned out to be a great alternative, one block from Davie and all the Pride Street Party this year. Great location if your heading up to Pride.

Yelp
Recent four-day stay for four women enjoying a reunion in Vancouver. Excellent location - quiet, but just blocks from busy street activity, restaurants and cafes, and shopping, plus longer but totally do-able walk to Stanley Park. Harbor and Granville Island water taxi just a few blocks (and fireworks were fantastic). The true treasure of this hotel is the front desk staff, who were all so welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Basic kitchen in each room was super handy and really good Starbucks single-serving pods were great! The only downsides: the air conditioning in each room was a bit on the old side and in one room located only in the bedroom (so the other areas were a bit warm, but it was an unusually warm weekend for Vancouver). And we went out for breakfasts as opposed to waffles and toast.

Yelp
1-bedroom executive suite was a good size, equipped with a kitchen and sofa bed. Free wifi and parking was great. The lot/garage is a bit tight. Overall my family thought it was quiet and staff was friendly. Don't expect much from the free hotel breakfast, but it was decent. West End location was conveniently close to the beach, grocery stores, and restaurants.

Yelp
Good value hotel in a colourful part of downtown Vancouver felt like we were right at the heart of the city good rooms and was nice to have a kitchen/dining area felt like our own little apartment which was nice As others have said the complimentary breakfast seems a little strange there's so many places to eat and a lovely well stocked grocery store on the door step it's not needed especially with having the kitchen that's fully equipped One tiny little criticism is the TV set up its a little confusing and doesn't have many channels but we didn't use it much so wasn't a bother Others have mentioned the noise and for us we didn't notice it's a vibrant part of the city with Clubs and restaurants open till late so it's expected to be a little noisy Cleaning staff were excellent Would I stay again? Definitely especially for the price we paid

Yelp
The location is convenient to many places. The hotel feels a little too compact but has the basics covered. I'm giving 4 stars because Dave the concierge went above the call of duty in helping us track down an item.

Yelp
Great location, very comfortable, we'd strongly recommend it we spent two very comfortable nights at the Sunset Inn and Suites. Our studio was very spacious, with a complete kitchen and small dining area as well as sleeping space. the front desk staff were uniformly pleasant and knowledgable, the location was great too - about a block from all that is happening on Davie (restaurants, shops, bars, etc) and about 3 blocks from the ferry to Granville Island and its amazing farmers' market. The king size bed was extremely comfortable, both parking and high speed wifi were free. We'll stay here next time we're in Vancouver.

Yelp
We stayed two nights in an Executive Studio suite--two beds, full kitchen (including a stove/oven and full-size fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and plates/cups/flatware), and seating area. Wifi worked great, and the front desk staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the area, happy to give recommendations. We especially appreciated Elvis pointing us to breakfast at Hamburger Mary's and another front desk attendant calling us a taxi. The location is great, right off Davie Street (lots of shops and restaurants) in the West End of Vancouver. Very walkable to the rest of downtown, if you don't mind several blocks by foot. We skipped the continental breakfast in favor of eggs and french toast at the diners around the corner, but it's a nice option. Reasonably priced ($99 CA per night) plus off-street, gated parking that is FREE! The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that I saw a bug (tiny silverfish) in the bathroom--but I was surprised because everything else seemed very clean.

Yelp
Can't say enough great things about this cute hotel! The people were so nice and helpful! It's in a great location - in walking distance to restaurants and the ferry to go across to Granville Island. Amazing suites with kitchenettes.Very clean. Breakfast, wireless and parking included. We will definitely return! A real find and a fantastic bargain!

Yelp
Great location, Elvis is the best, nice rooms. Our room was at the end of the hallway and had a fan blowing right above. I would have given it 5 stars but some issues. The street/back alley noise was very loud, breakfast is good but no options for a non-dairy family- so no coffee or cereal for us. So easy to have a pint of almond, coconut, or rice milk on hand. Other than those very small minor details, it is lovely. I would stay again but in a different room since I am a light sleeper.

Yelp
Lovely little place, gorgeous view (when Vancouver isn't overcast), friendly helpful staff, stable and free Wi-Fi (on for nearly a week straight and no drop-outs) comfortable rooms. Treated our group of 12 very well...
