Sonesta ES Suites Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile - Medical

This is an excellent hotel! It is in a great and safe location that is within walking distance of a lot of places. Uber pickup at the front is also convenient. The front desk and valet staff are all very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend using the valet service, it is well priced for the area and will give you peace of mind that your car is safe. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfy, and the water is nice and hot in the shower. Views of the city are great from the rooms. The breakfast is also nice! I definitely would stay here again. Don’t let the people posting bad reviews of this place keep you from booking with such a great hotel!

I had an excellent experience here staying with my two large dogs, husband, and toddler. We got the two bedroom suite which was very large and very quiet. Great views, super clean, and very comfortable for all of us. Front desk staff as well as valet were wonderful, friendly, and helpful. Location is prime - next to Chicago 360, the lake, Lake Shore Park (great spot for dog walking) and TONS to do nearby. Overall I was super impressed and when I’m back in Chicago this is the spot I will 100% come back to. For the space, location, and dog friendliness, you really cannot beat it. Breakfast was included and included the basics like eggs, sausage, potatoes, yogurt, toast, etc. Pet fee covered both dogs at a flat $75. This was also a huge plus because I have been to hotels that charge a pet fee per dog, but this hotel only charges a flat rate. A Also an aside note: yes the valet parking is expensive but it’s actually very comparable to nearby spots and there is unlimited come and go with your car and the valet is 24 hours, so to me it’s worth it vs using another app to park in a garage that you cannot come and go during your stay with.

Stayed at this hotel for 12 days, and we just loved. That was me, husband and 13yo son. The room is very spacious, clean, it has a king bem and a sofa bed. They also have a small kitchen with everything you need, and provide dish soap. The bathroom is good. They don’t clean the room every day, but they come to change the towels and take out the trash. The breakfast was good, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes and bacon, or turkey sausage are provided. They also have bagels, bread, fruits, juice, yogurt and granola. In the lobby all day the offer coffee and hot water for tea and hot chocolate. |The location is good, many shops near, very close to the 360 Tower. We could go walking to the river. Staff very polite and helpful.

I booked three rooms at Sonesta based on glowing reviews, but the experience was appalling. Upon check-in, one of the rooms had a bathroom in a horrifying state. The bathtub appeared to have vomit stains, frozen mucus, and even blood marks. When we brought this to the staff’s attention, their initial shock quickly turned into dismissiveness. They sent a maintenance worker who spent 20 seconds wiping the tub before saying, “Yeah, this can’t be cleaned,” and leaving without providing his name or any solution. When we informed the front desk, they asked for the worker’s name, and when we explained he hadn’t given one, they brushed us off. We requested a room change, but the staff claimed the hotel was fully booked and refused to accommodate us. After much back and forth, another maintenance worker was sent and spent 30 minutes scrubbing the tub with little success. Instead of addressing the issue, the staff blamed us for the stain—an insulting and baseless accusation—and also claimed it was due to rust on the ceramic tub (????) The staff’s lack of empathy and dismissive attitude was unacceptable. They refused to notify us if another room became available, leaving us stuck in an unsanitary room. It’s outrageous that such a filthy room was deemed suitable for guests. I strongly caution others to avoid this hotel.

I made reservations through Expedia, days prior to my arrival ( fully paid). When I arrived, my reservation could not be found, once they did find it, I had to wait while they prepared my suite. I reserved a room with a view, my windows look out into other windows and an empty pool. The television in the bedroom did not work. I took several showers, the water was always lukewarm. Breakfast was to be served from 7am-9am, breakfast was never served on time. Once breakfast was served, the line was about a 30 minute wait, because once the food ran out, we had to stand in line and wait for more to be prepared. I loved the room, and the area that it’s in. The hotel staff and management, need to be retrained and maintenance plays a major role in anything not working properly. With that said, you have to swipe card and press floor number on elevator. The elevator took be all the way up to my floor just to take me back down to every other floor, to drop everyone off, and then me all the back up to 15. I think new management would suffice. Professional hard working staff, starts with profess hard working management.

Stay away! I had a terrible experience at this hotel. This is a hotel that is mediocre at best, but they are convinced that they're the freaking Waldorf Astoria. They're you're ordinary, run-of-the-mill "extended-stay" hotel. I'd say it's a 2 star hotel, but they charge you $150 - $200 per night! Plus they hold an additional $100 every single night that you stay for "incidentals"! Let me clarify myself. They don't just hold $100 as an incidental fee for your stay, or even $200, or even $300. They hold $100 per night! Plus, the rooms were dirty when I arrived at my room. The shower wasn't clean, the counters weren't clean. There were bits of food on the stove top, etc. When I complained, I was told that it isn't the job of the staff to clean the rooms. Also, most of the staff is quite rude and disrespectful. Just understand that, if you stay at this hotel, it is your responsibility to cough up hundreds of dollars per night and to clean your own room and feel privileged to be allowed to walk inside the hotel and be permitted to book a room!

The rooms are nice and spacious. The staff was friendly and helpful. They also serve a nice breakfast. Only thing I didn’t care for was the price of the parking but there are a couple other options in the area that will save you a bit.

On Christmas Day, the doors for breakfast didn’t open until about 7:15, several occupants including myself and my daughter, were waiting in the lobby for the doors to finally open. Once breakfast was served, it continuously ran out, and we literally had to wait in line for about 30 minutes for more food to be prepared. Love the area, but the hotel needs new management. It was not warm nor welcoming, especially for it being the holiday season, there was music was playing in the lobby, just not Christmas music.
