Sonia’s Crab and Finn BK

Sonia’s Crab and Finn BK passed the test. They are officially approved by me the @chickentendercritic. The tenders were cooked to perfection. Crispy and crunchy on the outside. Soft and juicy on the inside. Paired with Sonia’s honey bbq, they were out of this world. I am typically a honey mustard guy, but the honey bbq was a close match in deliciousness. It’s a perfect spot for an affordable lunch because the tenders are part of Sonia’s daily lunch specials. Since Sonia’s is known for their specialty in a variety of seafood, I had to try their fish as well (TIP: Fridays are $6 fish sandwiches). Their secret fried recipe was so scrumptious and like nothing I ever had before. So much flavor and lightness to each bite, I for sure recommend trying it. I washed all this yummy food with Sonia’s very own freshly made juice. SO REFRESHING. I would stop in just for their juice. I had the juice called What’s Up Doc (Apple, Carrots, Ginger, and Celery). Thank you so much Sonia’s for such an amazing first experience! I’ll for sure be back!

Boyfriend and I went there the night before his birthday and the guy(owner) was absolutely wonderful. The service was great and the food was top notch! When it comes to taste its hands down the best shrimp pasta I've ever had. Only warning I would say is that it is very spicy so order according to ur palette. They are very accommodating in that regard. If u don't want it hot they'll make it mild if you are a spicy fan u can tell them also. We also ordered crablegs and let me tell u I work at a seafood restaurant and I've never seen legs that big not even in the #1 dinner in Brooklyn. Then there was the price which is the best bang for ur buck.

I have been to Sonia's 3 times in the past 5 days. Will be returning today as well. Each visit I ordered a different meal and was not disappointed. First visit I ordered a seafood boil (1 dungeon crab, 1 lb of shrimp and boiled eggs). The boil comes with corn and potatoes. The second visit I ordered Escovitch Snapper with Coconut Jasmine rice and collard greens. The third visit I order garlic butter shrimp with collard greens and fresh salad. I've also ordered by different modes. First visit was in-person, second was uber eats and third was grubhub. Immediately after placing my third order via grubhub, the restaurant called me to report they did not have fresh salad and inquired of another selection I would like. I selected yams. When I arrived for food that was ordered in, my order is always ready. Food is prepared upon order (not just sitting around on hot table tops), warm, tasty and great portion sizes. The food is amazing! I ordered the snow crab legs, Mac and cheese, candies yams and greens. Everything was amazing! The crab was cooked and seasoned to perfection, not to mention it came with broccoli, red potatoes and corn that were all cooked perfectly as well. The sides were soul food sides. The Mac and cheese is a must have! I can’t wait to try the different sauces that come with the crab legs

I accidentally came across this restaurant. But I'm glad I did! The food was amazing!!! I ordered Garlic Butter Shrimp, Four Cheese Mac & Cheese, Collard Greens, Steamed Mussels and Banana Pudding. It was all very tasty and I will definitely return soon.

Their Jerk Chicken is so good—this is the kind of food that makes you feel good after eating. Chicken is meaty and juicy (the opposite of tasteless and dry!) Pictured is small box ($7).

A must try ! I ordered for a family dinner for the first time. Everyone was impressed with the flavors and quality of the food. The Mac and cheese was outstanding keeps you going back for more - If you have kids 😊 it’s a big win. The salmon was on point, the pineapple flavor was brought out so artistically. For side dishes I was introduce to collard greens and sweet potatoes let me add that the sweet potatoes melt in your mouth with a quick hint of cinnamon brings the feel of fall and a taste for dessert, the perfect finish to your meal. My favorite was the crab legs for a hot summer day it was light and tasty. I am a mom on the go and this was perfect, Simple and easy. Give it a try and introduce these dishes for your next party dinner it will not disappoint.

I had the salmon, candid yams, and collard greens. What a meal! the salmon sauce had a sweet twist that I was not expecting, but definitely enjoyed. The salmon was also cooked well, and wasn't dried out or undercooked. The greens were flavorful, and the yams were well spiced and sweetened. The portions were great and were in reusable containers that helped with storage.The owner staff were great, they had suggestions, offered suggestions that paired with my usual taste buds, and also other options they had on the menu that I should try. OH! and how could I forget the cornbread; moist, fluffy, tasteful, and left me wanting more! I will surely come back again, and again, and maybe even another time after that.

The customer service here was great! We got the fried whiting sandwich, fries, strawberry lemonade, & cornbread. I really want to see this place win, & I'm hoping this feedback can help. Strawberry Lemonade: 3/10. This was supposed to be homemade, but it tasted like a bad lemonade mix with real lemons added. The cloying at the back of my throat from the low quality sugar meant I could only take a few sips before throwing the rest away. Fish Sandwich: 7/10. This sandwich has several components that require a breakdown. Tasty overall but could use work that could turn this into a great sandwich. I'm being generous with the 7 because I can see the potential. Bun- The bun is really good! It's a perfect size, flavor & texture to complement the fish. Also it can get sauce on it and not get soggy. It was also toasted how I like! Perfect choice. Fish- Tasty but soggy. The flavors are there, but the coating and possibly the temperature of the oil need work. Tomato & Lettuce: Wilted to the point where I assume they were frozen? Tartar sauce- From the jar. It's sad, because a good aoli would be an easy win- especially since they could offer fun flavors for the neighborhood like a chipotle or jerk. Fries: 0/10. Or-Ida frozen fries that were maybe baked? Regardless, they're incredibly disappointing and inedible. They were sprinkled with a seasoning (I assume Old Bay), but they were still dry and tasteless. Avoid at all costs. Cornbread: 6.5/10. Interesting flavor with the nutmeg or cinnamon in it. I could see this being a star if it was a bit less dense. But still quite tasty, I'm just not a big cornbread person aside from my own. Anyway, I'm hoping for the best for this place!

This new seafood spot is from the same owner of the Sanctuary Juice Bar. The owner Richard was very welcoming and sweet. I ordered the fried salmon and shrimp with fries and it came with cornbread. The food is made to order and fresh. The fried salmon was delicious. The cornbread was good as well they point something in there that makes it different from your average cornbread (cinnamon or vanilla??). It doesn't matter it was good. The shrimp was jumbo sized but I felt it was missing something. It had the regular Old Bay seasoning but I asked for a sauce and it made it even better. It looked like an aioli sauce. I sampled the collard greens. It isn't made with no meat and it has a spicy kick. The collard greens were so different and good. I came back and bought some after my sample. This place is more of a take out and can seat two people 6 feet apart. I would definitely try other foods here. The customer service here is on point as well!!!

Listen I was on Instagram today Instagramming lol and they showed this platter and that's what I needed to see lol smh. Told my son call me before you park. We live in Canarsie enough of that.... called my order in and we was on out way. Very nice customer service. Nice place as well. Noooooowwww this platter was really everything I expected it to be. It was wrapped nicely so it stayed warm all the way home!!!!. Everything was seasoned very well. I got a nice portion of everything. My corn, broccoli and potatoes were soaking in garlic butter. Crab legs healthy and delicious. I also had the mac and cheese with shrimp and pasta salad with some homemade Lemonade. Trust me when I say I will be back. I am not the best picture taker but you get what I'm posting lol. Anywhoz if you are in the area do stop by you will be happy like meeeeeee

Tonight we ordered the Rasta pasta with grilled chicken which was delicious and a great value. Our second entree was the crab cake with collard greens and corn bread. That too was delicious. Not the jumbo lump crab cake this Maryland girl is use to, but it had good flavor. The collards were tasty - not too sweet, not too smoky, and not drenched in butter or mysterious grease. The corn bread was yummy. Definitely on the sweeter side, but paired well with the other savory items. Pleasantly surprised and will be ordering again. Oh- we ordered through Uber Eats and the food arrived ahead of time and still hot.

I was so excited when I saw this restaurant open in the neighborhood because I love seafood, especially being from down south (nola). I got the fried catfish entree with 2 sides (mac&cheese and candied yams) and added a side of cornbread. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to my expectations. The biggest disappointment was the catfish. The fried batter was hard and the catfish didn't taste fresh. I took and few bites, then had to discard the rest. Also, they don't have tarter sauce despite having a menu with a ton of fried seafood. The yams and mac&cheese were meh and tasted like they were made by an amateur cook. The cornbread was dry and crumbly. Also, heads up that you will not be able to order a 1/2 order of crawfish since their system doesn't allow (although it's on their menu??) Not sure if this is the case with the other steamed options, but they need to update or remove the option from their menu. Before this meal, I planned on coming back to try everything else on the menu since it's so close to my house, but I don't think I'll be back.

Delish ordered fries catfish with sides of yams, & mac / cheese - all made with love ! Only observation is the catfish coating, a lil too coarse foe my taste but very flavorful great portion.. I will be back

The food was seasoned well. Reminded me of down home southern food fixins'. The sides were decadent and delectable. I ordered crab cakes fries whitings/french fries and sides. The collards, yams and coconut rice did not disappoint. If you're wondering about the speciality juices, there're definitely worth the trip! However, try to call in advance for your order. So, you don't have to wait long. The food is delicious!

I ordered the crabcake, collard greens, and coconut jasmine rice. Delicious! The crabcake was made to order so it was fresh and honestly, so tasty. The tartar sauce was perfect. Collards and rice, all really good. The cornbread and candied yams looked super tasty but I've been trying to do something about these pandemic lbs so I managed to restrain myself lol. Nice to see a new black-owned business on Nostrand doing good things. The owner was there and was super sweet. The customer service was equally as nice. Very welcoming vibe in there. Will definitely go again.

The food is delicious (so far I've tried the jerk snapper, pineapple salmon, curry shrimp, collard greens, cornbread, and candied yams and recommend them ALL). Equally as important are the great relationships Richard and his team are building with the community. It's clear that there's an emphasis on excellent customer service here and it's much appreciated!

Nice little neighborhood spot. Had the crab cakes with collard greens and cornbread for lunch. Good stuff. Young lady at the counter was sweet. I'm looking forward to exploring the menu. Will keep you guys posted.

Heard about this new seafood spot opening up in the area and was pleasantly surprised to see them on seamless! Ordered the "build your own seafood" meal with the zesty herb and garlic sauce which was a homerun. We chose to build ours with shrimp and corn and there was a base of potatoes and broccoli along with it, sooooo good. We also ordered fried shrimp w/fries and chicken fingers w/fries for our kids which met the standard of other comparable venues that offer those items. The real hit for us though was the side of bbq jerk sauce that came with the chicken fingers, the sauce was so good we dipped everything in it lol. Lastly, service was top notch, they called us twice to correct items in our order and ensure everything was right. Cant wait to try the rest of the menu!

The food here is great Mac and cheese,collards,fried fish or broiled are all really good. They have a dungeness crab plate $28. Way better prices than the so called Cajun seafood places. This is a takeout place so you may want to call in your order so it can be ready. Great for seafood night at the house.

To be honest, I usually don't leave reviews but I had to drop a few lines to rave about Sonia's Crab and Finn! I stumbled upon this place last week and I think I might've found a new gem to add to my favorite places to eat. Based on my first experience here, I am looking forward to placing my 2nd, 3rd and 4th orders...The Rasta Pasta and Glazed Salmon were on point!! Very tasty ;P Also very appreciative of the excellent customer service provided. Welcome to the neighborhood! :)

Love Crab so I had to try this place. I had the crabcakes with the Sonja Sauce! Amazing Portion Size and the Sonja Sauce is delicious! THE COLLARD GREENS ARE FIRE!!!!!!!! So so good. There's a kick of heat and the flavor is there! Customer Service means a lot and they do it right. Definitely will be back for the crab legs.

Delicious meal--sampled their food as part of a restaurant/bar crawl. The owners/staff were incredibly gracious and all the food we sampled--shrimp, Mac and cheese, collard greens and candied yams were delicious. This place was easily the best place on the tour. Thank you for your warmth and delicious food. I'll definitely be back!
