Sonoma Bakery Glebe is consistently excellent. The space has a relaxed, warm feel, and the staff are friendly without trying too hard. Their sourdough is the standout. It has that proper crust and depth of flavor that tells you it’s been made with care. The pastries are fresh and not overly sweet, especially the almond croissant which is one of the best in Sydney. Coffee is smooth and made well every time. It’s the kind of place you can drop into for a quick takeaway loaf or sit and enjoy a quiet breakfast. Always dependable and always good quality.

I bought a linseed, soy and sesame seeds bread loaf and it's delicious! I'm from Germany and you know we love a good bread. And this one is so tasty! It's a bit pricey but I'm happy that I found this bakery. Whenever I am back in Sydney I'll come back.

Had breakfast and takeaway lunch on different days. Got almond croissant, morning bun, and selection of sandwich (ham, cheese, toastie and one other forgot the name) but everything was delicious. The latte was great too (and this comment came from Melbournian)

Seriously Sonoma this warrants explanation. $10 for 8 small slices of bread -Why?

I've always bought quiche lorraine (every Saturday and Sunday) but have noticed in the past month or so that the pastry casing is not flakey and melt in your mouth as it used to be but is actually a thick layer of flour and the sides are hard.

Great bread, pastries, and coffee. Shop is very small, but they make it work. Make sure you get in before at least 1pm or else pretty much everything will be gone.

A cozy cafe with excellent sourdough bread crispy crust, soft inside, just perfect with their coffee.

It’s just devastating to see a company that had discovered the recipe of good bread, good service, fair price, excellent systems and business model go and follow the trend of “oh sorry, cost of business has gone up, we can’t make delicious fresh sandwiches today but here’s some ugly ones on the rack that we made earlier, which will cost more than last week, Next Please”. It seems like a lot of the older businesses are making excuses while the new ones have to be competitive and do great stuff. Sonoma bread is still bloody amazing so I can’t rate too harshly, but to see something so good go downhill so rapidly, to me, deserves a good think about the feedback, the model, and the necessary adaptation. Hope sonoma comes out on the other side of the current challenges, which by the way are nowhere near as challenging in Australia as elsewhere.

Yelp
I was charmed from my very first visit to Sonoma. Upon entering the door and asking about the pastries I was asked "Are you from America?" when I replied "Yes, I'm from California" the immediate follow up was "Are you from Sonoma?" I wish I could have replied positively but sadly I do not share provenance with this amazing bakery. Here are the top two reasons why this place is so good. First off, let me say that I am truly addicted to their Morning Buns. It is the perfect cinnamon roll with a delightful hint of orange which just sets it apart from all else out there. Second, I have a high standard for sourdough and Sonoma meets it. When I lived in Singapore and could not find decent sourdough I took to making my own. Now here in Glebe I can relax because the Sonoma Polenta Sourdough is so amazing. Funny story, when walking around in Northern California near Sonoma we met up with a guy who did the artwork for this bakery. Small world right? Or maybe great bread just brings everyone together.
