It was our last night on the island, and we decided to try a new spot. Steak seemed like a safe, simple choice. We were seated right away by a friendly hostess, which ended up being the best part of the service.
My wife ordered the filet medium-rare, and I ordered the ribeye medium. Her steak came out closer to medium with a sauce she didn't order. It was fine but not what you expect at this price point. My ribeye started okay but quickly found as I moved from the rich fattier pieces that it was overcooked and dry in the middle.
Maybe 15-20 minutes after first checking after drop off our server checked back, and by then my wife had finished her meal. He arrived saw most of my steak on the plate and asked me if it was okay, after telling/showing him he admitted that he had likely given my order to someone else as they also had the wrong order. It was awkward and frustrating knowing he obviously knew something was wrong without communication, especially since he spent the time in between chatting with other tables about the names of the swans.
The manager apologized briefly as we left, which didn't do much in the moment. I later returned to look for a lost parking pass, and the manager took the time to talk about our experience and offer to cover our meal, which I appreciated. That conversation helped, but overall the meal and service were still disappointing.
The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a nice view and stylish design. The bird sounds from the nearby pond can be loud but more of a quirk than a problem and was really just emphasized because of my poor experience.
Meal: 2/5
Service: 1/5 (only saved by the manager)
Ambiance: 3.5/5
Overall: 2/5. Begrudgingly bumped but with a later discovery that our open table reservation was canceled so we could not review there.
