Son'z Steakhouse

This is definitely a unique place to eat at. I loved sitting by the water 💦 and enjoyed eating dinner with friends. It is small so reservations are almost a must. You should either get them morning of or the day before if you can. Any group of six or more and they place an automatic tip. The food did take a hot minute to come out and they gave us the wrong order for dessert 😂. But since we were easy going and the dessert was awesome we didn't mind. No need to make fuss if it doesn't matter. I ordered the lobster ravioli and my wife got the catch if the day. We both normally will try each other's dish but we gobbled our dishes down respectfully without time to share🤣. No need to say that the food was awesome, it was spectacular! The reasons for four stars instead of five is that the service was slow as dirt, they did get our dessert wrong, and it is very expensive.

Amazing location on a private lagoon with beautiful lighting during sunset. The food was fantastic and drinks were great but it was certainly all elevated by the amazing Maui atmosphere. Highly recommend checking this out for the steaks and vibe.

The view and atmosphere were wonderful with the pond, ducks, and swans as entertainment. The netting ensures the birds are unable to interrupt an outstanding steak dinner. I had the strip and my wife enjoyed the filet. Both were tender and juicy cooked exactly to the temperature we requested. Service was attentive and made the night special.

We thoroughly enjoyed Son'z Steakhouse! Kevin gave superb service. The atmosphere was lovely with a waterfall and array of birds visiting... swans, Muscovy duck, and domestic goose. Steak, truffle fries, brussel sprouts, and calimari were all fantastic. A special surprise for dessert- mango pannacotta! A perfect evening!

I enjoyed a nice piece of filet mignon here in Maui Hawaii. My fiancée had chicken. We shared a tasty chocolate cake. Great service. Planning to go back next year.

The views of the lake and waterfall in this location are great. I went with a group and we all enjoyed the food…keen in mind if you want your steak cooked a specific way, be very clear and also be prepared that it might be slightly less done than you’d like it. Not sure if it’s always that way but that’s what our table found. I had the mac and cheese side and it was super good and creamy.

Beautiful views, and tasty food. Had the tomahawk steak. Very good. Comes with all the sauces but you don't need any.

Delicious food and drink. We shared the rib eye and added lobster tails. It was spectacular! The view is also very nice! Will def go back as we are frequently in Maui.

We were staying at the Hyatt Regency and decided to try Sonz for dinner one evening. I love the ambiance of this restaurant. It's open air with a pond and water fall. During the day the view towards the beach is amazing. We did not have a reservation and did not have to wait for a table. We were given bread & drinks upon seating. The service was very good. Our drinks (water/ soda) were constantly refilled. Our table of 4 ordered the Shrimp scampi, Chicken Parm, 2 Filet, mac and cheese & fries. Everything came out in a reasonable time. The only issue was one filet was requested to be medium and it was more medium rare/ rare. They did heat it up more for us. Close to $300 for 4ppl which seems to be common for Hawaii.

Situated in the Hyatt Hotel, this steakhouse stop has a lot to offer! Restaurant tables look out onto an illuminated rock grotto with waterfalls and a large water feature! Area is populated by ducks and black and white swans. Ordered lobster ravioli - which was spectacular and filled with bit pieces of Maine lobster and a tail on top! Lovely creamy sauce to top. Short rib was cooked so tender and served alongside perfectly grilled heirloom carrots and probably the best mashed potatoes I have ever tasted! Menu offers a nice variety, including steak, sides and seafood. Service was quick and very friendly. Definitely make reservations ahead as it's quite popular, and for good reason! Highly recommend a stop!

Great meal with nice service. Nothing special but the comp bread and butter for the table was SO good. Steak was good, short rib ragu pasta was average, salads were all good. Probably wouldn't return but it was on property and easy.

We came here again after several years craving steak. The restaurant is beautiful, spacious with high ceilings, soft music in the background, and seating facing a waterfall and pond. The staff were very professional, friendly, and attentive. A server in training made a joke about a drunk whale in a bar that didn't hit. My Son'z Hawaiian Punch cocktail was refreshing. The complimentary bread was warm and fresh. There was a long wait greater than 45 minutes before our entrees came out. We had a good sampling of the menu from fresh market mahi mahi, roasted chicken, NY strip steak, and filet mignon. Everything was well prepared especially the steaks but they did lack boldness in the flavors. Overall a great experience.

Remember this being so good from previous trips but we found it to be just okay this time around. The steak was not very good, lacked flavor and cut was just okay. The lamb however was delicious. Sides were good but again nothing exciting. Service was ok. Slow. Not as attentive as we remember. No one in our party was drinking alcohol and couldn't get our water or other drinks refilled very easily. It was busy which I expect for it being attached to a hotel however not too loud. It's ok but not sure if we'll return after this experience.

Everything went well - Food & Service! Cocktails & Wine! We will be back. The ambience was beautiful too.

There was a pretty big storm with high winds so instead of venturing outside the hotel we decided to stay within the grounds and order in. I ordered take out and ordered a filet mignon and loaded baked potato. Ordering was easy and the staff was really nice. They gave me a steak knife to use since the usual takeout "silverware" is plastic. I ordered the filet medium rare and they cooked it perfectly. I also ordered the brandy-peppercorn sauce which was decent. The baked potato was a little too cheese-y for my liking but no big deal. All in all, it was a good meal.

Seating on the water and solid service. This restaurant sits inside a Hyatt hotel so I was a little skeptical. Great ambiance overall and a pretty traditional steakhouse, which is what we were looking for. Nice wine list and not overpriced - we were pleasantly surprised. The food was perfect - great salads to start and amazing steaks - beautiful cuts and perfectly cooked. The side dishes are definitely shareable for 2-3 people. They also offer free valet for restaurant guests. It's a must visit if you're a steak lover.

Amazing! Celebrated our 10yr anniversary dinner. First time here, didn't read any reviews or pictures before making reservations, were just looking for a good steak! Boy were we surprised.! The place is stunning, so romantic, quiet and peaceful. The sound of the birds a lovely waterfall. Will definitely dine here again next time, when in Hawaii.!

Our steaks were perfection! Our waitress could not have been better! She was informative, intuitive and prompt. While the ambiance is decidedly upscale, we didn't detect that dreaded pretentiousness!

Although when we ordered an old fashioned, they gave it to me on the rocks. However when I asked for it neat, they were more than accommodating. Restaurant is stunning located inside of the Hyatt. During the day, you can even see swans in their pond.

The food met expectations for the price. We ordered the calamari and the blackened ahi as appetizers and they did not disappoint! The steak was cooked to perfection; however, we learned the steak is sourced from the Midwest plains instead of Maui cattle. On a Sunday evening, the tables were all filled up and quite busy, so we sat at the bar top. The service was good! The ambiance was fine dining. So think of soft lighting and able to hold a conversation.

Besides the annoying giant fly that kept visiting us during dinner (ugggghhhhhh, I absolutely hate flies) because this restaurant is indoor/oitdoor - this place is a solid 4 stars for me from the food to the service. SO GOOD. For our first night on vacation, our dinner was perfect. This has to be one of the best restaurant on site at the Hyatt Grand in Maui. Making our reservation was super easy, we actually showed up a little early and they provided us the best seat in the house. It was an easy decision for us to share the juicy Rib Eye! Sorry not sorry I didn't get an interior photo of the steak but trust me when I say it's beautiful marble inside was deeeeelish! Every bite was so satisfying, probably one of my favorite steaks I've ever eaten. Didn't hurt that I had a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean ;) The sides come a la carte, of course I'm going to recommend the Brussels because they were nice and crunchy with lotsa flavors! Staying at the Hyatt or near this hotel? Book your steakhouse dinner now!

Great food, drinks, ambience & service! The food & drinks were great. Recommend the Ahi appetizers, wagyu strip steak & local caught fish. The Mai Tai's & Chee Who cocktails were perfect. We ordered a layered chocolate cake & ube cheesecake for dessert which we also recommend.

Got the Ribeye. Medium rare? Near perfection. However, the closer I got to the bone, the more I wished I'd stopped at Lowe's for Powertools before-hand. The steak was tougher than the current economy. The taste of the steak reflected a price point of about $48. Not $80. Consider salt brining. The Bacon Mac tasted cheap and hollow when it came to the sauce. Bacon flavor came through, but the consistency of the sauce was lacking. The cheese sauce was thinner than a store brought dairy free variant. Please use a proper mornay sauce. I'll be coming back because I heard ya'll won an award for the best steak in Maui...But so far, I'm not impressed. I'd strongly consider dropping the price of your Bacon Mac to $5. It's okay to overprice, but anything over $5 is highway robbery.

Nice atmosphere, decor a bit on the tired side like decorated 40 years ago. We ordered the rib eye steak fabulous! Twice cooked baked potato tasty. The wedge salad? Kind of odd tasting, made without iceberg lettuce with way too much dressing. No salt or pepper offered either..... also we had the obsidian red wine quite tasty!! Food & wine was good. Service was ok. This was our 3rd time dining here over the years, the first time was their breakfast buffet boring food and nothing special service wise. The 2nd time was dinner food was good our server was rude and condescending. This visit he was uninterested in doing his job, he was more focused on the larger paying parties. You know you pay a substantial amount of money for a meal and the help doesn't do a great job in serving??? Not sure if we'll ever come back.

We ate here our first night in Maui. Our waitress was super sweet and the food was so good! We got the lobster ravioli, chicken, and the potstickers. So yummy!!!!

We went here while in Maui and it's definitely an older school steakhouse vibe. They have a huge extensive menu of wine. I recommend the filet and the Brussel sprouts. Enjoy!

Came in last night with 8 people at 8:30 (30 minutes before closing) we never felt rushed at all which was so nice! Inside on the Hyatt with beautiful scenery all around, inside the resturant was a beautiful waterfall. Our server Lauren was fantastic! We were celebrating our friends who just got married a couple days ago and helped us keep the celebrations going! We got the calamari, escargo, seared ahi, and pork dumplings and they were all fantastic. The calamari was a fan favorite! Between everyone we got a couple tomahawks which were out of this world. Great meat and it came with all of the sauces which was fun to try them all with it! We added on shrimp as well and the shrimps were huge and beautifully cooked just like everything else. The sides that the entire tabled enjoyed were the Maui onions and mushrooms 10/10 the truffle fries 10/10 the broccolini 10/10 what I'm getting at is everything was a 10/10. Only thing was the bacon mac and cheese maybe had 3 pieces of bacon in it which was alittle disappointing but it was still really good! We finished the meal with the creme brûlée and it was fantastic!!

We ordered six steaks medium rare, but unfortunately, all of them were cooked medium-well, and one was well done. At this price point, we expect steaks to be cooked as ordered. We sent one steak back, and when it was returned, it was undercooked and bleeding--far from the medium rare we had requested. Disappointing experience, especially considering the cost and our expectations for quality.

This is our second visit to Son'z and they were again a bright light in our dining experience. The setting is framed beautifully by the architecture and the Swan Court. I wanted to reward our surgery team with a nice dinner. Thank you Son'z for treating us royally. We were greeted warmly by our server Aaron. Aaron is forthcoming with insights and recommendations from the menu. He advised us perfectly. Aaron prides himself on self on attentive service. He is a professional. The seared ahi appetizer with beurre blanc wasabi sauce again stands out as a unique presentation. We love it. The pork and vegetable pot sticker dumplings were crispy and tasty. The Greek salad had many different flavors. It is not a traditional Greek Salad. I usually shy away from mahi mahi dishes as they tend to be dry. The mahi mahi dinner was delicious. The mahi was moist and buttery. I would order this again. The rack of lamb was served nicely as medium rare with a great curry sauce. We were so full that we didn't order a steak but will be back and do so. The manager JustIn made a point of greeting us, displaying warm aloha hospitality. With the loss of our Lahaina town our dining options are limited on west Maui. Son'z offers us a slice of fine dining away from the crowds. Thank you Aaron, Justin and Son'z for spoiling g our team.

This place has a great view so try to go at sunset. The food is good, but at this price it's sad it's just good. I ordered the ribeye and it was cooked and seasoned well, but for the price I wish it was dry aged, or a special cut, for prime it was just good. My wife ordered the filet and it was a touch undercooked. All in all, there might be better options for steak in Maui (ones that come with sides).

I had a lovely dinner here. Shrimp cocktail, filet mignon, mushrooms and onions. Great atmosphere, great staff. Don't miss out on the mushrooms and onions, chefs kiss!

we made a reservation and only had to wait like 5 minutes when we got there. the place is really nice with a beautiful staircase entrance and it sits overlooking the "swan lake". the only minus i'd have to say is the wait time for our entrees. for appetizers we ordered the escargot, good but really only tasted like butter, the jumbo tiger prawns, and the seared ahi which were all really good and came out with reasonable timing. but our entrees took a loooonngg time. the waitress had said that she "just fired them" when clearing appetizer plates from our table. they took atleast 30 more minutes after that before they came out. we got the roasted chicken, new Zealand rack of lamb, and the fresh catch piccata which was mahi. the roasted chicken was amazing. the potatoes were soo good and i got mine without asparagus and got broccolini. they initially didn't bring the broccolini out, but when i asked they immediately brought it out. the mahi was good, and i didn't try the lamb fam said it was good. especially the chimichurri that came with it. the side of broccolini was super nice. not oily or undercooked. desserts came out at a normal time though. didn't take too long at all which is why i'm confused on why it took so long for our entrees to come out. the flourless chocolate cake was really good too! we got that and the cheesecake and the cheesecake was also good. i prefer the chocolate cake more though, just wish there was more fudge/ganache in the middle and more raspberry sauce. overall it was very very good and next time i look forward to trying something new along with the 6 layer chocolate cake! they also payed for one of our desserts since it was a birthday we were celebrating! just wish we didn't wait so long for our food :(

The food was pretty good . Swans are so pretty . We went for dinner . The lighting there is very eerie like almost like being in a movie about hauntings lol . Service was pretty good .very pricey !

Wow wow wow I seriously cannot understand why anyone would leave a bad review on this place. First off, the entire restaurant has a beautiful view of the water. The entire restaurant has an indoor outdoor feel which just made our meal 10 times better. From the moment we walked in everyone greeted us kindly. Our server was very kind as well and cracked a few jokes with us. The entire time I was so confused as to why this place wasn't packed. Lastly, the best part, the steak!! We all ordered steak and lobster and a ton of sides. The sides were all good, not amazing, but not bad at all. The steak was perfectly cooked and had so much flavor! Definitely recommend this place and couldn't say enough good things.

Very good steak. Service was wonderful. You can't beat the ambience and view as you dine. Small suggestion, be consistent on what entrees come with sides and what doesn't. Fish dish came with broccolini and potatoes but my steak didn't, even though it was more expensive.

We just got to the resort and wanted to have a quick dinner so we went to Son'z for dinner. Ambiance is pretty romantic with a waterfall right next to us. Drinks were delicious and the bartender was great. He fixed the error of our drink order right away and didn't give us a hard time. Food was just ok. Nothing really to write home about. Wife had the short ribs and I had the Wagyu zabuton. Server was friendly enough.

Not sure why this place doesn't have amazing reviews! My husband and I both had delicious, quality steaks and really yummy sides (big portions, too). Service was also top notch - bartender Jeremy made killer drinks. Don't listen to the noise, this place is beautiful.

The escargot....AMAZING! Fabulous steakhouse. The most memorable of all was......Lisa. Excellent, professional waitress. Perfect Maui ambience!

Not sure why this isn't a 5 because we had a fabulous evening here. The calamari came with two GREAT sauces- a spicy marinara with a heat level that caused me to keep craving the next bite. It also came with a lemon aioli and we couldn't decide which one was best. We got the Maui Wowie salad (shrimp, avocado, finely chopped lettuces, and many other goodies) and subbed the feta with blue cheese (super quality) and it was so good, I wished they were open for lunch. The rib eye was cooked to perfection and the mushrooms and onion side dish was very umami and the perfect complement to our steak. Our server was a young woman from Argentina who attended to our every need. She was so personable and listened to us reminisce about our visit to Buenos Aires. The manager also stopped by and we loved telling him about what an excellent experience we had. The setting is spectacularly gorgeous with a private lagoon and lovely waterfalls.

Good service, nice ambience, but food was so so. Tomahawk was fatty and chewy; seasoning was okay. Mashed potato was a bit dried and bland.

This restaurant is one of the best choices if you are staying at Hyatt Regency or around the area. First things first, their service is wonderful. The servers are all very attentive, friendly, and full of positive energy. The restaurant is located in front of Swan Lake at the resort. You can see the swans swimming in the lake as you dine. I ordered the Lobster tail with lemon butter. It is fresh and delicious. My sons had the shrimp scampi and steaks; both tasted great. The price is considered to be reasonable. On a side note, the breakfast buffet in the restaurant is wonderful, too. If you are looking for a place for a breakfast buffet around the area.

One of our favorite places to eat. Very accommodating, we had a party of 8 and wanted separate tables for our "Date Night" The food was delicious, my husband enjoyed his steak (melt in your mouth) our kids and their dates all enjoyed their meals, lobster ravioli delicious, lobster tail delicious, steak delicious, adult beverages delicious and the service exceptional!!! Beautiful setting, basically perfect date night!

Went as a family of 4, with 2 preteens. Decor is excellent. Server was friendly. My cocktail was perfect...a lemon vodka drink. Had the calamari and escargots....delicious. They made one major mistake, but the manager came over and apologized. I do appreciate an establishment that takes ownership for screwups. We'll definitely be back :)

Far from the best but far from the worst. Service is rather slow and the food is extremely over priced but this is a resort and that is expected. The steakhouse is the same location as the breakfast buffet in the mornings so that is interesting. The setting is cool near a waterfall.

A year later - and wow - what a difference! The food, service, ambiance, and wine selection were all impeccable. The steaks were high quality and prepared perfectly, the brussel sprouts were seasoned and prepared well, the lobster tail was perfect, and the dessert of the layered cake was rich and delicious. I just wish they had decaf coffee to top off the delectable meal! We were very impressed with the entire experience, highly recommend it, and will return.

We came here on a Sunday night and wow, we could not say enough positive things about this place. The ambiance was amazing and we had a great view which included a waterfall. The food was absolutely perfect. My mom and I decided it was the best calamari we had on the island and the surf & turf combos were perfect! The drinks were also great, I had two mai tais because they were that good. As for the service, we had Matthew and wow! He topped off the good food & ambiance with excellent service. We appreciated the cheesecake slice & hope to be back soon. He also looks like a younger James McAvoy lol.

I gave this 3 stars mostly for the atmosphere, service, and Lemondrop martini and not so much the food. The food wasn't bad, but it also was not something I would rave about especially given the prices. I got the Waygu Flat Iron steak which was pre-sliced and had a nice presentation, but it seemed to have zero seasoning and I didn't care for whatever brown dipping sauce it came with. If I have to add salt and pepper to my steak, which I did, you are making the steak wrong. The mashed potatoes, broccolini, and asparagus also seemed void of seasoning. I did love the Lemondrop martini. Soooo good. Sitting in the open air and being able to see the waterfall was very nice. The service was good too, no issues there. If I went there again, it would be to just sit at the bar and have the Lemondrop martini. Pretty sure you can find a better steak for $10-15 cheaper somewhere here in Maui with more flavor.

The views alone were the best part of the restaurant. While there for one week, when ended up coming here two times just because of the service and quality. We came here for the first night of our vacation and as a family we enjoyed the filet mignon, the ribeyes, some pastas and the lamb. The first five minutes of entrées coming out it was silence because everybody was truly enjoying the food that they had received. Highly recommend coming here during sunset so that way you can enjoy their waterfall views seen from your table if you're lucky.

Went on Thanksgiving 2024. We made reservations over a month ago and received the worst table in the place. I couldn't eat the turkey dinner, it was terrible. I sent it back and ate off my friend's plates. They did not take it off the bill, sadly. The waiter? Maybe he had too many tables but he was never around. We ended up going to get our own water from service station. It was pretty amusing. I would not recommend this place. Not worth the money.

Good food, service was good. Our server was very friendly and made our experience dining amazing. We would definitely revisit if we ever go back to Hawaiii.

I cant say enough wonderful things about this steak house i go at least once a week now as Lahaina is seriously lacking in places to dine. Even if i move to the other side of the island i will still frequent this establishment!!!! Wonderful steak great waiters and ambiance. Bernaise sauce which seems to be extinct anymore but STILL the best. Everyone is sooo very kind. Filet Med. Rare w Bernaise melts in your mouth. Lovely beautiful view.

Probably the worst ribeye I have ever had in my whole life. I almost puked after I got out of the restaurant. Please don't go!!! Just go to the Jepango instead, much better food there.

This was an experience!!! The view is like an island grotto. The staff is incredible. Our waitress was one of the best I've ever had. Our drinks were incredible. The filet mignon was so tender. The lobster was sweet and delicious. 10/10 this was an amazing meal. The best mai tai I've ever had
