Sooper Guest House

Budget friendly and pretty decent for the price. Hot shower, clean rooms. But quite noisy. There's a kitchen or something at the back, and they're loud.

We really enjoyed our two night stay at Sooper. The beds were nice, the room was clean and and it had a good-working fan. The rooftop isn't anything fancy but it has great views of the city and the lake. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was a little bit noisy because of the echoy courtyard but had a nice atmosphere. We'd definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for three weeks with a large group. The staff went above and beyond in every way to make our stay comfortable, safe and memorable. The staff took time to get to know everyone and were always smiling. For anyone traveling through the area I highly recommend staying at the Sooper Guest House. Aside from the amazing staff the rooms are clean and comfortable and each bed has a mosquito net, they have hot showers, wi-fi and a delicious breakfast every morning. Sooper is also located within walking distance of several good restaurants and bars as well as a grocery store and of course Lake Victoria. They have a great rooftop with many tables to enjoy the views, a common room with tables and chairs and a courtyard in the lower section. There is always a security guard on duty as well.

I had a group of 40 staying at the Sooper for nearly a month. Honestly, the little Sooper treated us better than any fancy hotel could have. They treated us like family, were incredibly flexible to our needs, and they had phenomenal security for us. Best of all is that they brought on extra staff to take care of us, all without charging more. I can't think of a reason for a group to stay anywhere else in town, especially student or research groups. Clean, comfortable, and caring. We will be back many times.

I was here as part of a larger group and stayed for three weeks plus a few other weekends. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help us. The rooms were nice with ensuite bathrooms. The road can be noisy at night but they also have a great rooftop area.

This is a four star rating for a guest house in its class. Basic, low budget. But they don't get cleaner than this. If you're on transit and just need a pitstop, or are on a backpack trip, you won't be disappointed.

Lovely Sooper guesthouse. Such a friendly environment because of the staff. We stayed for 5 weeks and became so close with the staff and it felt like my second home in Kisumu. Very good prices if your budget is small. Close to everything since its in the middle of the center of town. A simple roof top with a very nice view and breeze. I'm gonna be back soon!

Sooper has been my place of choice whenever I visit Kisumu. The staff are friendly and the rooms clean and affordable. Its only a few minutes walk from the lake meaning you can enjoy an incredible view of the sunset by the lake side before dashing back.
