We have been disappointed with the deteriorating service standards of the catering team at St. Regis Singapore in the past, but decided to give the newly renovated Sophia Italian Restaurant a try—and we’re glad we did.
Our initial impression wasn’t great due to the charging of water (I must say this is still not very common in Singapore) and a rather unfriendly redemption process for the Supper Club membership (as usual). However, the overall dining experience turned into a delightful anniversary dinner with our family.
The transformation from the previous concept to Sophia has made a significant difference. The service was top-notch, especially from the manager, Mr. Kartie, and the excellent team. A special thanks as well to Mr. Juvan, who was extremely attentive, warm, and friendly throughout the evening..
The food was good overall. While the bread course could be improved by serving it warm, we thoroughly enjoyed the appetizers—particularly the smoked red tuna and burrata, which were standout starters.
For mains, we were impressed by the Argentinian Angus steak, which was tender and juicy, as well as the New Zealand Lumina lamb chops, cooked beautifully.
Overall, this is a strong and promising start for a new restaurant. Despite past disappointments, Sophia has renewed our confidence, and we will definitely be back.
