I love the decor of this restaurant! Takes you into a completely different era with its wooden ceilings, chairs and artifacts. Lots of seating space with plenty of tables and booths to entertain large groups. Toddlers and kids get their own crowns! How fun. They have about 5 different vegetarian dishes. The menu is bi-lingual. And the staff is too! I ordered my usual Helles beer with the chicken pastry that came with salad and cream sauce. Service is courteous and service speed is moderate. The chicken pastry was well-cooked, coated with spinach and cheese. It was delicious and filling. Definitely a must visit before watching an opera at the Oper Haus, Dresden!

Although the decoration and ambience are good, bringing a feeling of medieval times, the place as a restaurant does not fulfill some basic requirements that customers need. When we were seated and would like to order, the lady (the only waitress without costume) nearby tried to ignore us and told us "ONE MOMENT" with an annoyed face. That moment took more than 5 minutes. The something happened when we were about to pay, the lady saw our needs but went to do other things and chatted with others, for more than 10 minutes. We felt that we were not respected. Throughout the waiting time, we tried to seek help from other "not so busy" staff, but they seemed that they could not help. I really do not understand why they assisn a single stuff for us and that staff is always busy or not willing to serve new customers. The food itself is not too bad, but nothing shines. The pork I ordered had burnt skin, which I suppose should be crispy instead. Think twice of you would like to get anything from here other than the medieval decorations.

I would like to share some feedback regarding our recent visit to your restaurant. Unfortunately, our experience was not as pleasant as we had hoped. The male waiter who served us was noticeably unfriendly and distant, which affected our overall impression of the service. Additionally, I don’t believe the restaurant is very suitable for families with young children. We couldn’t find a place to park our stroller, and when we asked the waiter for assistance, he was not helpful at all. When we tried to take the elevator to the restaurant floor with the stroller, there was a food cart inside, which made it impossible for us to use the elevator. We hope you take this feedback into consideration to improve the experience for future guests, especially those visiting with children.

I ordered the potato soup — the taste was average, and the bread served with it was not fresh. My husband had the solyanka and he enjoyed it. For the main course, I had chicken fillet with spinach and cheese in puff pastry triangles, served with a salad. There was very little chicken, but way too much spinach, cheese, and pastry. I only ate the meat — the dish was not tasty at all.My husband didn’t enjoy his beef roulade either. And it was expensive. Would not recommend.

This is a huge restaurant with both indoors and outdoors space. We had a great experience and our waiter from Albania V. Was very friendly and helpful.

I had the suckling pig for dinner and eierschecke for dessert. I would recommend getting a reservation since it was busy when I went, but the food was great, I really like the decor and theme, and the staff was friendly. Definitely a highlight of my trip to Dresden.

Google
I had the house speciality and it was very good. This restaurant is beautiful inside, in the basement, with wooden furniture, a cannon, and a reconstruction of the old times, very captivating. The waitress was kind. It would be 5 stars for me if the price would have been a little bit lower. I understand that all this needs maintenance, but I would like not be forced to pay at least 3 euros if I want only a glass of water. For the rest, I think it deserves to eat here at least once.

Two visits during the weekend in Dresden. Sat in the garden. Quick service and nice food. It's a good normal place to eat and have a beer if you don't seek anything fancy.

Yelp
Sure, there was a touristy vibe, but we were tourists, so we rolled with it! The food was well-executed... cooked and seasoned correctly and had a nice presentation. The staff were friendly, while the table-to-table entertainment avoided us. Maybe we looked unfriendly. It had been a long day, after all. Service was very good & they were accommodating. The price was a bit higher than elsewhere, but our guests were OK with that, as they enjoyed the environment & decor.

Yelp
I found this restaurant got a good reviews then I asked my friend to had a dinner here. We ordered 2 dishes one we ate half and one very little. The taste was very salty and worst food I have ever eaten in Germany. The price is a higher than others.

Yelp
Great spot located at the Tashenberpalais Hotel. Good menu chock full of German classics. Hubs ordered the beef roulade, I ordered the pesto spaghetti, and we shared the cold plate (assorted charcuterie, cheeses, gherkins, etc.). Good stuff. A few notes: they do allow outdoor smoking, so just be aware you may be exposed to it, although you'll be outside, and we showed up around 6:45, and it was still busy (no wait for a table though), but by the time we finished, about an hour later, we were one of the only ones left! Would most definitely come back again if I found myself in this part of town.

Yelp
We went for lunch during a weekday and made a reservation. It probably was not necessary as there was very few people seated inside and downstairs in the main dining room. They have a very pretty carousel which rotates so the children can eat at and be entertained while they slowly spin clockwise around the carousel. We made a lunch reservation for three people at 1 PM and showed up a little bit early and there was no problem going directly to our table. The wait staff is extremely friendly and efficient and are dressed in clothing relevant to the era befitting the establishment. It was a great experience and we will go back!

Yelp
Terrific experience on Saturday night! I came @10pm and was immediately seated by a lovely host who immediately light up three candles on our table. We then where given a menu that's translated into English, Russian and Chinese. I ordered house-wine and my partner decided to go with dark beer. The waitress was kind enough to let us try beer + lemonade drink free of charge. The mineral water comes out in a cute bottles that definitely added to the atmosphere. While we waited for food there were live German music by two ladies playing drum and guitar. This definitely added bonus point to the place. The interior decor is amazing and I would advise you to experience it yourself. The food was great and their bread basket worth every euro cent spent.

Yelp
We have been all over Germany for almost 19 days.. This town is last place of stop before going back to Berlin to head back home.. This restaurant is awesome.. If you are in this town I would most definitely recommend this place.. The ambience, food, and service are excellent. One of the best German food I've eaten since I've been here. The service was bar none..

Yelp
Despite location, it is not a tourist trap. Service is ok, it probably could be friendlier, but the way it is actually goes very well with the place. Food and drinks were good and timely served

Richard D.

Yelp
I can honestly say they do not want any tourists dining there. The wait person was so rude. We waited 45 minutes for our food, while folks that ordered after us were served before us. We we waited 20 plus minutes for our check, finally got up and asked for it. I didn't eat my dinner. Just bad.

Misha T.

Yelp
It definitely feels like a tourist trap but honestly it's pretty cool and you just gotta lean into the decor and uniforms of the staff. I wasn't all that hungry so I had some bread with goose lard and a small potato soup. And some beer obviously. Anyways, the goose lard was great and had some small chunks of apple inside that both added brightness and texture. Would be fun to come here when the place is busy.

Yelp
What a fun restaurant. I think it really caters to tourists and it does a good job of it. The restaurant ambiance is really fun - very German including servers wearing costumes and a roving musician. The servers smile and are very nice. The food was great. We had suckling pig with a potato dumpling, bread with schmaltz and a soup. It was admittedly a heavy meal but that's what we were seeking in coming here. Would I come back here? Yes, in a heartbeat.

Yelp
As touristic as it gets, frankly I wouldn't have done this without the good people of Yelp telling me it's worth my time... Kartoffel soup (large) costed 8.90€. It was actually quite decent, certainly better than in some other places catering for tourists. Size of the meal was good, soup & bread offered with it filled my stomach. Weissbeer could have been better, though. Would I return? Probably not as there are likely 10 other restaurants doing the traditional German stuff better. However, if you are here with 20 friends who haven't been in Dresden or Germany before I'm sure it's a very enjoyable event. So it's not bad even though I only gave three stars

Yelp
The translation of the Chinese menu is fun. At last I still don't know what is Diwangwan, which is the huge potato mash look food beside the beef.

Paul W.

Yelp
It's touristy. But very fun. Air conditioned. Food was very good! Had the roast pork and they knew what they were doing. Pricing was on par with Berlin. For good prong you would have to leave old town and go to new town. They nicely accommodate food allergies. I had a good lunch and time. Recommended.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere in the restaurant!! Very unique and enjoyable!! Food was also very delicious. Would definitely recommend to eat here if you're in Dresden

Yelp
Great place at the center of Dresden. We went there during Striezelmarkt and the food was amazing. Did not have the mett but it was apparently very good. Make sure you visit the torture chamber while waiting for your table.

Florence P.

Yelp
Stayed here for two nights, and we have our dinner in this restaurant every day. We were seated outside the first evening and inside the second night, the plates are all great, the decorations are perfect! We decided to try again inside, although the service outside is not good. There are two different kitchens, so in different area the served menu is different. In on words, worth to try.

Chenjie Z.

Yelp
Echoing other reviews, I think this restaurant is touristy and have good location while the food is good but not exceptional.

Ramin S.

Yelp
Great food, great service! We had fish and Ox toung. Both delicious. Home bread was awesome.

Lisa S.

Yelp
Great fun here! Loved the cucumber starter, though I didn't care much for the pickles in the dish (they tasted canned). Had the dish with the pork and sauerkraut baked in the bread - very delicious but the meat was dry - ask for some mustard with it. Service was fantastic, beer was great! And the ambiance was fun!

Yelp
Reliable food in a historic setting convenient for a pre-opera dinner. Comfortable and spacious. Good range of wines from the region.

Lucas M.

Yelp
What a odd and quirky place. My wife was looking for a place that did Rouladen and we were told that this place not only had it but that they did traditional, regional dishes. The food was great and atmosphere was very cleaver. People walking around in traditional dress, singing regional songs, and they even have a table for the kids which is a carousel, which my wife insisted we eat at. Great hidden gem for regional cuisine.

Luke S.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, service was great and everyone was very friendly. Great selection of different beers and the quaint medieval setting really accentuates the mood. Prices are also very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Dresden!
