The view was amazing! Both the room and the restaurant offered stunning views. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant not only had a great view but also served delicious food. The internet was fast and reliable, which made it a lovely place to work from. Highly recommended for both relaxation and remote work!

A family of mine and I stayed at Sora lodge Lalibela which was the best hotels we have stayed in Ethiopia . The views from our rooms and from the sunset bar was unforgettable. The staff is very friend and helpful. They made us feel at home and they were very sweet to our children . The garden is also very beautiful with lots of sitting areas. The food at the restaurant was very good with their own vegetables growing in the garden.||I strongly recommended to anyone especially to family with children .

Nestled in the beautiful and majestic Asheten Mariam Mountains, near the sacred city of Lalibela, Sora Lodge is a hidden gem that nourishes your mind, body and soul. ||Ideal for families, couples or singles looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the rooms at Soro Lodge offer breathtaking views and clean mountain air that tickle and invigorate your senses. ||The space is also ideal for yoga and meditation retreats. ||Every member of the staff from the manager, Habte, who greeted us upon our arrival, to the friendly waitresses and ground keepers were truly delightful. We were welcomed every day with smiles and warmth. The staff was attentive and made us feel at home.||We were given fascinating and informative tours of the ancient churches in the holy city of Lalibela by Alye, an extremely knowledgeable young man who was simply amazing. He was kind, patient, helpful and a pleasure to be around. ||For tours of Lalibela, the surrounding areas and even the capital, Addis Ababa, I would strongly recommend Alye’s services. He can be reached on WhatsApp +2519 22 62 73 52.||The beauty and cleanliness of the grounds, the warmth of the staff, the delicious food and overall amazing experience is one, I will never forget. ||Don’t walk, run to Soro Lodge, then sit back, relax, deeply connect with nature and all its wonder and bask in the peace that your soul so desperately craves.

I was at Sora Lodge with my family after six years. The lodge has been upgraded with it's size and services for much better. It is indeed one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed during our travel. The room we stayed has amazing views and the restaurant has great choices of food with great views. The staff is amazingly helpful and friendly. We had a guided tour arranged by the lodge and everything went well.|I happily recommend to anyone traveling to Lalibela to stay at this place or visit their restaurant.

Amazing view over the valley, near the city of Lalibela. We had some issues with the rooms..there 2 different types of buildings: the traditional ones with the nice view and the normal one…as I were with a group I received the room the “normal building “..when I asked for a better/different room I was told..i received that the agency paid for…kind of a rude answer.:) eventually the tour leader decided to change rooms…although I mentioned to the hotel l’ll pay extra…breakfast was nice, lunch also.

Excellent experience. I stayed at the treehouse which was a little quirky but overall very well put together and unique. The view was wonderful. Food was good. They have a bar. Staff is extremely friendly. Highly recommended.

I really wish that I could give Sora five stars. The people are so friendly and helpful, the room had a lovely appearance, the food in the restaurant was great, they set me up with a great guide, and everything was perfect except:||- The first night, it seemed a little warm in the evening, so I left the door to my balcony open as I went to sleep. I woke up not long after that with buzzing in my ear. I eventually killed 22 mosquitos in the room that night, and I essentially didn't sleep at all.|- There's a mosquito net above the bed, but it doesn't actually cover the bed -- it's too small. A mosquito net that's touching your skin doesn't stop the mosquito from sitting on top of the net and biting you through your skin, as I quickly learned, and the net won't cover the bed, so that it would prevent that.|- So, the second night, I decided that I would just be hot. I slept in just my underwear on top of the covers and kept the door closed all afternoon/evening/night. But somehow, there were still mosquitos -- they got into the room some way, and I had to kill five more of them that night while trying to sleep.|- Another family there that had kids told me that the kids were crying all night because of the bites. They got fans to try to stay cool while keeping the windows closed.||Simply put, the number 1 job of a hotel is to enable its guests to sleep, and the Sora Lodge failed on that account. It's the middle of the dry season, there's zero reason for there to be any mosquitos, and mosquitos generally only travel a short distance in their lifetimes, so the mosquitos are likely breeding onsite or very close to it. Management needs to do one or more of the following:||- Find the pool where the mosquitos are breeding and treat it with a non-toxic pesticide to kill the mosquitos.|- Get a bug zapper and put it at the edge of the property away from the rooms to draw away and kill mosquitos.|- Put screens on the sliding doors in the rooms, so that cool air can come in without allowing mosquitos in.|- Replace the (decorative?) small mosquito nets in the rooms with larger nets that will actually cover the beds and protect guests from mosquitos.||Readers: I would absolutely avoid this hotel until they respond with details of how they have addressed this issue. But if this problem gets fixed, then you will love staying at Sora Lodge.
