Sora Lodge Lalibela 4 Stars

My stay at Sora Lodge was absolutely lovely, the perfect place to experience Lalibela. The lodge has breathtaking views over the valley, peaceful surroundings, and a genuine sense of care from everyone on the team. A special thank you to Haptweld at reception, who was incredibly kind and helpful throughout my stay, and to Belayinesh, Descale, and Desita at the restaurant for their warm service and smiles — every meal felt personal and relaxed. And of course, my amazing guide Abebe made the whole Lalibela experience unforgettable! His knowledge, passion, and kindness brought so much depth to every site we visited. Highly recommend Sora Lodge to anyone coming to Lalibela — it’s comfortable, welcoming, and full of heart.

This was my second visit to the amazing town of Lalibela and it was enhanced by my lovely stay at Sora. I’m a Photographer on a working trip with my daughter. And I stayed in the largest round cottage and she stayed in the smaller one. It was very comfortable. Beautiful views and good service. I’m a very picky eater and not a fan of Ethiopian food. The staff aside from the managers speak little English but they worked with us till I was able to find meals that worked for me. The staff is all very friendly and tries their hardest to please you. I’ll stay there again.

All rooms are equipped with modern amenities, including air conditioning, minibars, flat-screen TVs, and private bathrooms. Some units are located on the ground floor, catering to various guest needs .

Lots of character, comfortable, very clean, incredible views, good food, hospitable, truly well-managed. Sora Lodge is a fantastic accommodation option in Lalibela. Our 2 nights were not enough given the array of things you may do in the surroundings of Lalibela. The Tukul room is beautifully appointed, from the balcony you may relax with a good book, enjoy the silence, birdwatching or monkey spotting. Best? Ethiopian hospitality. You feel welcome here and actually everywhere you go in this amazing country. Thank you, Sora Lodge staff and management!

The view was amazing! Both the room and the restaurant offered stunning views. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant not only had a great view but also served delicious food. The internet was fast and reliable, which made it a lovely place to work from. Highly recommended for both relaxation and remote work!

A family of mine and I stayed at Sora lodge Lalibela which was the best hotels we have stayed in Ethiopia . The views from our rooms and from the sunset bar was unforgettable. The staff is very friend and helpful. They made us feel at home and they were very sweet to our children . The garden is also very beautiful with lots of sitting areas. The food at the restaurant was very good with their own vegetables growing in the garden.||I strongly recommended to anyone especially to family with children .

Nestled in the beautiful and majestic Asheten Mariam Mountains, near the sacred city of Lalibela, Sora Lodge is a hidden gem that nourishes your mind, body and soul. ||Ideal for families, couples or singles looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the rooms at Soro Lodge offer breathtaking views and clean mountain air that tickle and invigorate your senses. ||The space is also ideal for yoga and meditation retreats. ||Every member of the staff from the manager, Habte, who greeted us upon our arrival, to the friendly waitresses and ground keepers were truly delightful. We were welcomed every day with smiles and warmth. The staff was attentive and made us feel at home.||We were given fascinating and informative tours of the ancient churches in the holy city of Lalibela by Alye, an extremely knowledgeable young man who was simply amazing. He was kind, patient, helpful and a pleasure to be around. ||For tours of Lalibela, the surrounding areas and even the capital, Addis Ababa, I would strongly recommend Alye’s services.
