Convenient location just 2 blocks from the train station. Well appointment rooms with many amenities provided such as snacks, water, and quality toiletries. The front desk staff were very kind and helpful. Note that there are steps leading up to the entrance.

Friendly staffs, good breakfast, spacious family room with A/C and just 5mins walking distance to the train station. Additionally, when we lost a converter, they helped send it to the next hotel we stayed with free of charge. They are definitely a star in St Gallen. Even better than some 4-stars hotels we stayed in German and Switzerland.Highly recommend.

This was part of the train tour of Switzerland we did so we did not choose it. Couldn’t have been happier. Very nice and helpful staff. Breakfast stood out among a long few weeks of European breakfasts. Great location and quiet. Highly recommend.

One of the best hotel experiences we had during our week all around Switzerland. The staff were very helpful and kind. The room was one of the best of the trip, great decor, spacious and fully stocked with all the amenities and then some. In a great location, walkable to lots including the train station.

We booked 3 rooms and stayed for 2 nights. The hotel itself is well-located, clean, and most of the staff are genuinely helpful and welcoming. However, our experience was negatively impacted by the attitude and behavior of the manager. 1. Privacy issue in the bathroom: My husband and I were initially assigned a room where the bathroom had a large uncovered upper window. As you can see in the attached photo, this design leaves you completely exposed to the opposite building when taking a shower. We raised this concern with the manager and requested a room change, but instead of offering help, he insisted “this is the way it’s designed” and refused to acknowledge the issue. Thankfully, one of the staff members kindly helped us move to a different room and admitted that the manager was wrong. 2. Offensive and inappropriate comment about kettle use: The rooms don’t come with kettles by default—you have to request one. When we asked for one to make tea, the manager told us that he would provide a kettle only if we promised not to cook with it, saying “you cannot cook food.” I was shocked. This assumption felt racially charged and deeply offensive. It seemed to stem from a stereotype that Asian guests use kettles to cook noodles. Such biased thinking has no place in hospitality. A professional manager should treat all guests equally and respectfully. While the hotel has potential and most of the staff are doing their best to create a good guest experience, this manager’s behavior truly ruined part of our stay. A rude, discriminatory attitude from leadership reflects poorly on the hotel, and it’s unfortunate because the rest of the team works hard to maintain high standards.

Just returned from a 3-night stay at Hotel Sorel City Weissenstein, and overall, it offers a comfortable and convenient base for exploring the charming historical center of St. Gallen, which is just a pleasant walk away. The hotel is situated in a wonderfully quiet neighborhood with minimal traffic, ensuring peaceful nights. While street parking is available, be aware it comes at a premium of CHF 2.50 per hour, 24/7. The hotel does offer parking for CHF 20 per day, though these spots cannot be reserved in advance. We were particularly impressed with the modern and well-decorated rooms. We opted for the Superior Plus room, and it lived up to its name – spacious and remarkably soundproofed, contributing to a restful stay. The hotel staff were consistently friendly and proficient in both German and English. The breakfast buffet offered a decent selection, covering both savory and sweet options. While it provided a good start to the day, it didn't quite reach the level of "exceptional," especially considering the price point. It was nice to see a few items prepared onsite, such as the scrambled eggs, bacon, and Bircher muesli. However, our experience was significantly marred by a major discrepancy regarding the kitchenette advertised for the Superior Plus room. This was a key factor in our decision to book this specific room (and hotel) over others that offered amenities like free parking or spa facilities. The expectation of having a kitchenette, given the hotel lacks an on-site restaurant, was a significant draw for us, offering the flexibility to prepare some of our own meals. Upon arrival, we were informed that using the kitchenette was forbidden for stays shorter than 5 nights and would incur an additional charge of CHF 100. This crucial information was nowhere to be found on the hotel's website during the booking process. We found this policy to be not only inconvenient but also quite misleading and, frankly, dishonest. In conclusion: Hotel Sorel City Weissenstein offers comfortable, modern accommodation in a great location with friendly staff and a satisfactory breakfast. However, potential guests booking the Superior Plus room specifically for the kitchenette should be aware of the unadvertised restrictions and additional costs for short stays. This lack of transparency significantly impacted our overall satisfaction and is something the hotel should address to ensure fair and honest communication with their guests

We stayed in room 204 (Deluxe Double Room), situated away from the lift, that overlooks the street (Davidstrasse) infront of the hotel. The windows are double glazed and Davidstrasse is a quiet street, we didn't hear much street noise. It's a great sized room with a renovated bathroom with separate walk in shower and toilet. The walk in shower was spacious with great water pressure.||We arrived before the check in time and were greeted warmly. We provided our details and was told our luggage can be stored with them and will be brought up to the room when it is ready. We were warmly greeted upon our return later in the afternoon and our luggage was in our room as promised. ||As it was our anniversary we found some lovely rose petals (albeit fake) on our beds. The bed was your traditional swiss affair, with 2 twin beds pushed together and separate doonas. Our son's rollaway bed was quite big and looked like a double bed! There were also some complimentary water and mini chocolate wafer bars waiting for us.||The room comes with a stove and small kitchenette but as we were only staying 2 nights, we didn’t get any cutlery or cooking utensils. Apparently the stove is reserved for stays of 5 nights and more.||The bed was comfy but the pillows were too soft which seems to be common in local Swiss hotels.||Hotel breakfast was nice with scrambled eggs sausage and bacon and grilled veggies. Lovely crisp pastries; juice; hot chocolate, oat milk latte. Kitchen staff asked if we wanted coffee every morning and seemed very happy. ||We appreciated the fruit infused water and the snacks and fruit available to guests in reception. ||Just note there are some steps leading to reception from the street but there is a small platform lift for those that need it.||The hotel is located a short walk from the train station and the nearby migros, coop. ||Wifi 185Mbps down and 70.1MBps up which was very good.||Overall the hotel was lovely and boutique (6 rooms per floor) offering a nice quaint peaceful stay.||We would definitely stay again if in the region.
