Such a sweet, cozy spot. I feel like it’s the type of place where you can’t go wrong. Comfort food — tasty pasta & heaping servings — at its finest. They’ve also got gluten free fusilli on the menu and I was pleasantly surprised by how perfectly Al dente it was cooked! :) Would absolutely recommend

This place is on it. We were seated quickly, ordered promptly, and received our food hot and fresh soon after we ordered! The staff here are very kind and attentive to your needs. And most importantly, the food is great! I got the butternut squash pasta and my husband got the gnocchi and we shared a small Caesar. It was nice and warm out, we sat outside and it was quite pleasant. We will be back!

Valentine's Day was swamped, but this family run gem easily split a salad, appetizer and entree. Great folks, Worth the drive!

Amazing pollo ala pancetta!!! And the pasta on the side was perfectly al dente. One of the best Italian dinners I've ever had! And the ambiance is so cozy, especially during the holidays with the decorations.

Tonight we went there to celebrate a birthday. I got the salmon Locke Duarte and it was the best piece of fish I have EVER eaten!! The side of vegetables were also cooked perfectly. Great service and fun, lively atmosphere.

Sorella Café is an absolute treasure in Fairfax! It gets busy early, but it's well worth the wait. We started with the Mista salad topped with crumbled blue cheese and their creamy vinaigrette. I promise, the vinaigrette is one of the best you'll ever taste, and do yourself a favor by adding the blue cheese—it's totally worth it! For the main course, I opted for the pork chop with veggies, and I was super happy with the choice. The pork chop was incredibly flavorful, like it had been brined. It had a nice char on the outside and a very mild, but very flavorful, chimichurri that added that extra special bite. To end the night, I had a cup of Graffeo coffee, which was strong and the perfect way to finish the meal. The atmosphere was a little loud, but it reminded me of a bustling Italian restaurant while still maintaining a cozy vibe. Highly recommend Sorella Café and cheers to the chefs….they obviously know what they are doing! Yum!

This cool restaurant is located in Fairfax Ca. Nice location, nice decor and great atmosphere. Their cheese is really good and man the garlic bread is so delicious. I had raviolis and my partner has some pasta and it was very good as well. Their staff is very friendly and helpful if you have any questions in the menu. Weekday dinner for 2 people at 6:30p. To my surprise - the food came out piping hot! The restaurant was full but the food came out so wonderfully hot and delicious. Had the mixed seafood pasta with red sauce. Heaps of seafood and lots of pasta. Calamari was great too, not overly breaded. Would be back again!

Super kid friendly, great happy hour. They don't take reservations, but dinner time is pretty fast as kitchen works fast and food and drink comes out promptly. Food itself is pretty decent, big portions and seasoned nicely. Environment is lively, seemed like there was almost a child at every table, and staff and owners are very welcoming to this. Across the street is Peri Park, so great spot for families with kids to come over before or after dinner. A happy find, will return

A solid "red sauce" Italian restaurant that has many options they do well. Nice views from a building with greenhouse levels of windows, good food and service... and gummie bears and animal crackers come with your bill. They've added outdoor dining in what I believe was the parking area which seems to have increased capacity to the point the long lines of yester-year are no more.

I had an I had an amazing experience here! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is super cozy and traditional. We started with a shared Caesar salad, which was absolutely delicious. For my main, I had the eggplant Parmesan, and it was phenomenal! They even bring out a large bowl of Parmesan to top off your dish. At the end, they surprised us with gummy bears and animal crackers, which was such a fun touch. As a bonus, they also brought us fried polenta on the house - so tasty! I was with a group of 13, and everyone loved their meals. I don't think you can go wrong here. Our server was fantastic, and everyone was incredibly friendly. Highly recommend!

Holy Happy Hour! Sorella is a cozy Italian restaurant tucked back from the main street in Fairfax. There's street parking and several parking lots in the area to choose from. There's a big banner out front announcing happy hour every day. We were there for some holiday shopping and thought we could grab some snacks. We walked in around 5 pm and the tables were mostly full. We were given a table immediately. All beer is $5 (no draft), bites are $10, and a few $8 wine by the glass. We ordered and the food came out hot and fast. Kudos to the kitchen for keeping up on a busy Saturday. Most were ordering from the main menu. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked delicious. Food: all from the happy hour menu. *gnocchi was fluffy and a decent portion. *calamari was crisp and loved the marinara it came with. *capese had three thick slices of tomato blanketed with a pillow of mozzarella and basil tucked in for the course. Everything was dressed with balsamic and olive oil. *crab cake was stellar and is not to be missed. It was crispy outside and smooth inside with perfectly cut red onions distributed in each bite. A bright fresh mango salsa topped the cake for a sweet kiss. Yeah, the food is great and I'll be back for dinner. This is a family friendly spot and if you're a picky eater, they will make your food the way you want to eat it. I love the vibe and care shown to everyone. Chef's kiss! Note: tables are packed tight and the restrooms are located on the opposite side of the entrance, in a narrow hallway.

I used to really love this place, but this last visit made me feel like I got bamboozled. Food is good, but upcharges added to my check will not be bringing me back any time soon - the "restaurant fee" of 3.5% is automatically added assuming the guest will pay with a credit card. I found this out by asking about it, but was never asked beforehand if I would like to pay with cash. I find that ridiculous, as most transactions are with credit accounts, and 3.5% is the absolute upper limit that credit card companies charge in transaction fees. Feels like a rip off... Also, don't order the Italian sausages unless you want to get a product that tastes like a breakfast sausage - thumbs way down.

Been here a few times before as it's my MILs favorite for celebrations. Went early to beat the dinner rush as they do not take reservations. We were seated by the fireplace so it was cozy like someone's dining room. We are always immediately greeted and everyone who works here seems to enjoy their job. Food is delicious. Always. Ask for parm-you get a heaping dish. Kids walked out happy with little containers of gummy bears from our server. We'll continue to make the 45 minute drive again and again.

Y'all don't get the carbonara, it was so gross I could not take more than a few bites. It had such a weird taste that I can't even explain. And who even puts peas in carbonara.

We were recommended this place by a friend because we headed to Fairfax to see a band at Mac's. Village Sake had an hour and a half wait. The wait time for us was thirty minutes, but we landed an outdoor table with heat lamps in five minutes. Yay! When we were seated, I felt like I was at an outdoor party. We were checked on and taken care of right away. It was a converted parking lot and felt fun on picnic tables. They have a super menu with so many choices! They honestly cater to all types of difficult - vegan, vegetarian, gf, dairy free, meat loving, pasta addiction.....they have a nice drinks menu,too. I had the lentil curry soup bowl. Vegan. Delicious and so fall-like. We shared an appetizer. I think it was calamari, but sorry to say not memorable and I forgot. He had the chicken piccata with artichokes. He loved it. It was different with the added touch of artichokes. The check came and they gave us a bag of animal cookies and a little container of gummy bears. Cute touch to go in the car glove box in case of snack emergency. The inside looks cozy and there's lots of tables. There's even a standing fireplace. Next time we are in Fairfax, we will return!

I hosted a family reunion dinner for 12 here and everyone absolutely raved about the amazing service and incredible food. It is a charming, inviting, very welcoming restaurant in Fairfax, which is, itself, the pulse of Marin. We had a large corner table. Water and bread appeared immediately. Our server was so friendly and efficient. There wasn't a beat between appetizers and our entrees. Everything was cooked to perfection. We were so happy that Sorella could accommodate one vegan, one gluten-free, one soy-allergen, one shellfish allergy. Plus, the 13 month old had a great time eating her risotto and green veggies while flirting with all of the lovely waitstaff. Everyone raved about the fantastic service, amazing food, and great Fairfax atmosphere.

This was a delicious meal with superb service. Everyone at the restaurant was so attentive and courteous. Above and beyond! My Cioppino was excellent! Such a generous portion and so scrumptious. Lots of seafood in a delicious broth. The gluten free pasta with sautéed octopus was also delicious and a large portion. Lastly, the seafood salad was also an excellent choice. Lots of tasty seafood and perfect greens. We loved our meal! Highly recommended!

Amazing food service and calming atmosphere. There are no reservations for party's under 6, so be weary during dinner. I came in a Wednesday after 5 and it was packed by 6:15pm, inside and out! I loved the ravioli, it was smooth and creamy, and fast. I think it took less than 10min for food to be out. I would recommend if in the area! Also a small snack to go. So cute!

I thought the service was very friendly. It's very much a local gem - not trying to be flashy anything pretentious- just a local homey feel. I thought the caesar salad was delicious. I tried the Jacks Rigatoni with sausage. I thought it was really tasty - came out piping hot. I did not love the sausage however so probably would try something else next time. The butternut squash ravioli was also quite good.

My two friends and I celebrated a birthday here a few weeks ago. The food was quite delicious and the service was very attentive. The desserts were SO decadently delicious! The only drawback was that on a Saturday night it was very noisy.

My first time at this place and I was really pleased with the amazing service! You can tell the staff here all like a family because as each and every one of them were so warm to one another and that really reflected on the service. They would joke around with one another and it was amazing to see the camaraderie they have. The food was really amazing as well. The portions they served are very generous I could not finish it. DELICIOUS! if you get the chance either eat outside and enjoy the fresh air or grab a window seat because the views and ambiance are amazing! All the staff are wonderful and their awards are a testament of that. When I'm back in Mill Valley I will for sure be coming back here again!

I've been looking to try this place after hearing my friends rave about it, and I was not disappointed! The ambiance is very inviting, with many interesting pieces of artwork around the restaurant and even designed onto some tables. Our server was very nice and our food came out fast and warm! I ordered the Ragu Alla Bolognese and also tried the Porcini and Truffle Ravioli, both which were really good. I also liked how big the portions were, as they were very reasonable for the price! P.S. loved the cute little candies that they gave with the check!

We absolutely had a great date night here. The location and ambiance is perfect! The food was SO good! Very authentic it's like eating at your nona's house!

I had a wonderful experience. Shelby was an amazing server. Great food, had the fettuccine Alfredo, it was creamy, rich. Great with the grilled chicken. Heather also had high energy and a beautiful smile!

Went here with my family for the first time and decided we wanted dessert haha. I got the tiramisu because the waitress said it was the best and homemade here and I usually would not pick this for dessert and I'm glad I did because man was it so good. I will come back here just for the excellent service and the tiramisu in fact I'll take another one to go!

Been coming here since covid but haven't been in a while until recently and the food is still good and better than I remember. The only thing we are disappointed in is that they stopped coming around with the Parmesan cheese wheel. It was one of the reasons why we went there was to have some with bread. This time though was really good it didn't matter much that they took it away cause the food was still yummy. What I got was the rigatoni which had tasty pink sauce and sausage pieces in it. I also had some regular salad which had good dressing.

What a gem of a place. It's like stepping into your grandmothers kitchen, only she's invited the entire neighborhood to come for dinner, everyone has requested their favorite food and grandma says yes to everyone. This means it's loud and bustling but the energy is exciting and fun! The sisters that run Sorella work hard and know how to run a restaurant efficiently. Reservations recommended and arrive early as parking is tricky. The menu is enormous and it was so difficult to choose what to order. I settled on the chicken piccata, husband got the Marsala, grandma had the carbonara and the kids each went for the bolognese. Our drinks came out quick and food was even quicker. Service overall was great even though it was a busy Saturday night. Our server made sure to keep our drinks full which doesn't always happen. I wish I could visit this place every week, if you're lucky enough to live in Marin, I think it's well worth the drive to Fairfax for authentic homemade Italian recipes in a lively atmosphere.

8 of us had a terrific dinner and evening outside last Sunday at Sorella Caffe. We had their special raviolis, eggplant parmesan, prawns and Caesar salads and everything was enjoyed by all. The ambiance and service were great, we high recommend going for a great dining experience. For many of our guests it was their first time, we will all be going back. We had been there 14 years ago and ate inside by the fire which is also enjoyable. The Parmesan wheel that they used to bring around got too expensive for Sorellas to give away...but you can now buy that chunk for $10.

All I can say is WOW. What a wonderful gem in the city of Fairfax. I feel like I am in the Twilight movie. So fun! The food is fabulous. Wonderful flavors and large portions. The staff is so friendly and they give you lots of free goodies as well (bread and desert snacks with the check)! Both indoor and outdoor seatings were lovely. Can't wait to be back. It is pricey$$$, so I would recommend for special occasions!

What a charming neighborhood restaurant. We went here on a Wednesday night at 5:00 and there were plenty of tables available. We chose to sit inside because it was still a bit warm to sit on the blacktop. When we left around 7:30 the place was packed inside and out. We started off with the Burrata salad, which was good. The tomatoes were ripe and the cheese was perfect. One person at the table had the butternut squash ravioli, which she enjoyed. The GF had the eggplant parmesan which she enjoyed. I had the grilled chicken breast with Italian herbs and a side of penne with bolognese sauce, which I enjoyed. We shared a tiramisu which is made inhouse and it's lovely. The portions of our entrees were so large we all took home food. I ordered a clam chowder to go. It was broth based and very good. The animal crackers and gummy bears were a nice treat at the end of the meal. Every staff member we encountered was nice and friendly.

I just don't get the hype. It's charming, I'll give them that. Long wait time on a Friday doesn't bother me if the food and service are good. While most of the folks working there were very friendly, our server was slow to make contact. Again, it was busy. I'll give her that. But, we seemed completely unimportant to her. Service once order was taken was good. Food: My chicken parm was ok, but lacked the full flavor of tomato sauce and Parmesan one would expect from the dish. My husband had the lasagna bolognese which he described as rubbery. Not impressed. We were not asked once if we needed anything or how we liked the food. When we asked for take home containers we were brought the check, never asked if we wanted dessert. Our favorite part was a toss between the animal crackers and the gummy bears given with the check .

Food is very good. Really Japanese style. Staffs are very polite and waiter is very good service and knowledgeable about food at that restaurant.

I am practically crying in disappointment. This used to be the kind of place that never fails you, always has great food, and a wonderful staff. What my party experienced tonight was the complete opposite of that. The quality and taste of the food were lacking, to say the least. My pasta was just dry and had no taste. Wait, staff never checked in until the end of the meal. The other people in my party were also disappointed but were able to endure eating their food. Before this evening, I had not visited sorelas for a couple of years, and honestly, I don't know if I will return. As a suggestion, please bring back the quality this place was known for. Overall, Sorella has doubled its seating, and the food quality has gone downhill. I hope the owners still care about the things that made this restaurant wonderful and unique. I may be going out on a limb by saying this, but as a customer, you can start to taste where corners are cut that directly reflects in the taste of the food. The quality of

Sorella's provided catering for our high school's water polo team banquet. We had pesto penne, lasagna, jack's rigatoni, chicken parm, & Caesar salad. Everything was delicious! And the food was hot, packaged well, and easy to transport because the Sorella team helped load tray after tray into our cars. Amazing food, the kindest people, and completely reasonable pricing which is hard to find in Marin these days.

This is a very charming Italian restaurant, with a robust menu and attentive staff. I visited on a Saturday evening and was pleased to see how much seating this restaurant has, so there was no wait. They had live music, with ample seating both indoor and outdoor. We started the meal with fresh bread and a couple glasses of wine. The wine selection offers a variety of choices, all reasonably priced by the glass. I had the Chianti and found it very complimentary to my meal. I am gluten free and appreciated that most sauces were GF. Their gluten free pasta is very good. It's hard to know with some restaurants if they have picked a good one -- happy to say this one has! I tried the ragu bolognese and loved it. The sauce was rich and flavorful, without being too heavy. My husband got the butternut squash ravioli. He was very happy with his dish and the use of butter and sage. Both dishes came out immediately when ready out of the kitchen -- they were very hot and fresh. Even though the restaurant was quite busy, staff checked in on us frequently during the meal. They package up your leftovers for you and even send you home with some cookies and candies. Would definitely recommend and come back again!

Tried this place for the first time with my family. It was great service was great and the food was really good we came in on a Sunday. It was pretty crowded but great experience if you come between 4pm and 530pm you can get the happy hour specials, which was very pleasant will come again soon

Amazing food, staff is really knowledgeable. The restaurant is a little small but it feels like home.

After what I would estimate to be about 30 visits to this restaurant over the last four years, I can say with absolute certainty that this place is the type of local institution, everyone should patron, support and celebrate. The two sisters who run this restaurant are warm, talented and inclusive. The other staff is of similar ilk. All great people. We have had so many memorable dinners here, including one particularly special one where I proposed to my finace. They made it so special for us and remembered us on subsequent visits. See pictures for an amalgamation of our Sorella-related experiences! The food itself is simply outstanding. Over those 30 dinners, we've only had the courage to branch out to five menu items so far, which are on a constant loop rotation due to their outstanding truly crave-worthy nature. They are: (1) butternut squash ravioli- to die for (2) the chicken parmesean- I dream about this meal; (3) the cioppino - so legit, so delicious; (4) the shrimp scampi and vegetables - that sauce though, where did it even come from, heaven?; and (5) the spaghetti and meatballs - a truly perfected classic.  Every time we think about expanding on the rotation, we struggle with "but what if it's not as good as the ______." It always is, in its own way. Every once in a while we pluck up the courage to stray from the tride and true and we are always pleasantly delighted. And always, we end with their tiramisu. The best I've ever had by far. This does not even include our favorite starter - the Ensenada Mista salad, which is simple yet perfect. Pssssst.... insider secret: If you love the salad dressing as much as we do, you can get a half pint to go. It can transform the most uninspiring pile of green leaves into the salad of your dreams. I haven't a clue whats in it. Just try it. Also, noteworthy is Sonia's Limoncello (yuuuuuummm), which they sell by the bottle. During the pandemic, this place was the business we wanted to keep alive more than any other and we ordered takeout many a time, enjoying it at home or on picnics in the park. They did a lot to transform their parking lot into an outside little Italy. So charming! We were so impressed by their ability to pivot and still make it a special experience for all patrons. Special shout out to these outstanding team members for the excellent service, recommendations, sweet exchanges and laughter with us over the course of our many visits to our beloved Sorellas:  Sonia, Sarah, Heather, Soy, Shelby, and Chalian. Nice atmosphere for families and even dog friendly outside. Basic Italian fare but don't expect anything special with your food. The "special" Chicken Saltimbocca was a very large plate of 3 breaded chicken breasts with melted cheese and some sliced ham; plain round potatoes and mixed veggies. I think the chef forgot to season anything on the plate. The shrimp scampi did have a tasty garlic butter sauce and the french bread was plentiful. Caesar salad also good. The staff are super friendly and didn't pressure our party to leave quickly even tho people were waiting in line to get in. The many kids and families sitting outside seemed to be having a great time.

First time here. Treated myself to a mid week dinner flying solo. I was warmly greeted and chose to sit outside to admire the grove of redwoods directly across the street. I ordered a Caesar salad which was definitely one of the best Caesar's I've ever had. I can tell the dressing and croutons are made in house. Portion size was perfect! I then enjoyed the penne pollo all's sorella. Delicious! The sauce was a creamy pesto with olives, walnuts and tomatoes. So good. Decent portion. Took my leftovers home to enjoy tomorrow for lunch! Yum! I would definitely come back to try more of their menu! Also, service was great! Warm and friendly and never had to ask for more water!!! Thank you!

No Good! Been before, was ok, They were so rushed and unfriendly to the point, I will not go back ever again! Food mediocre. Not the best!! From the service to the food to the attitude. Never again!!

Sorella Caffe is one of the best Italian restaurants in Marin. We decided to have our Valentines Day dinner here this year and try it for our first time. We couldn't be happier with our meal and already a big fan. They weren't taking reservations on this particular day, but luckily we arrived just in time. My boyfriend and I couldn't stop raving about their food. The dishes we ordered just kept getting better and better. For our appetizers, we split a large Caesar salad and crab cakes. The Caesar salad dressing had the right amount of lemon, garlic, and anchovies. It was dressed with the right amount. The crab cakes were incredible, there was real crab with no fillers. There was a thin coat of breading and lightly fried. For our main entrees, I ordered one of their Valentines Day specials: heart shaped ravioli with prawns. The raviolis had two types of mushrooms, teragon, and cheese with a lemony sauce. They offered some freshly grated Parmesan which I happily accepted. I enjoyed every single bite. My boyfriend picked a Valentine's Day special as well: lamb chops with mashed potatoes and veggies. He was a little hesitant about the portion at first, but it ended up being just the right amount for him and couldn't stop raving about it. The staff including our server Chaillin did an excellent job on a super busy evening. She came around a couple times with the cheese wheel and checked in with us. We are already planning our next dinner here and can't wait.

Love this little gem of a place in Fairfax. The food is delicious and the ambience is romantic in the winter when the fireplaces are lit. Also great for families and parties. Great service! All the staff are friendly and accommodating. My favorite dish was the shrimp scampi. Giant Prawns perfectly cooked with a light batter. Delicious!

Long wait time and quick service. The waitress made excellent wine pairing suggestions. Highly recommend Cioppino. The tomato basil broth is delicious; seafood is super fresh. You can enjoy the broth with their homemade sourdough bread. We didn't order dessert but I'm sure it's amazing. This hidden gem is great for large parties or small parties. It is loud though, so not a good spot for an intimate setting.

Sorella's was the first restaurant we went to when we moved here 10 years ago. So glad we did. The owners and staff are lovely, the food is delicious and plentiful. I've had so many different dishes and they are all fantastic. In the summer, the windows are open with the redwoods across the street. They have great music on the weekends. It's such a joy to eat there every time!
