Sorido Bay Resort

We had a wonderful experience and highly recommend for both divers and non divers. It is a truly special place. The facilities, staff including dive guides and management, equipment, focus throughout on safety, incredible service, food and attention to detail throughout were impressive. The casual, authentic approach was very relaxing and engaging. We especially enjoyed meeting and interacting with other guests that came from around the world. The focus on conservation including education by directly supporting efforts locally as well as globally were incredible. The concrete efforts to improve the lives of local people and their communities were especially notable. Sorido Bay vastly exceeded our expectations.

We spent 10 fabulous nights at the Sorido Bay Resort, exploring the biodiversity of the underwater world with the help of our extremely talented dive guides. Max, the pioneer of Raja Ampat diving, and his staff have done a wonderful job of providing us with everything to have the best diving experience in safe environment. The Bungalows are very comfortable, big and are presented in a mystic forest surrounding with birds chirping, while the beach is at your door step. Special thanks to my dive guide Arnold who helped me with macro photography by finding all small and beautiful creatures that are a delight to photograph. Dining as a community is an excellent way to spend time with fellow guests where you exchange stories of different experiences, which is very unique to this resort. We learnt about the wonderful work done by the staff at ReShark program to care for leopard sharks which are endangered in the region, and various community activities managed by Max and his team. This is truly a diving paradise and I would definitely return to spend at least two weeks next time around, as it was hard to leave. Thanks to Max and his team to provide us with such rich experience overall, including the entertainment with music and dance, at the world's best location for diving which will be cherished forever. We had a wonderful time (10 nights) at Sorido Bay Resort. The founder Max and his team and staff are excellent. We had the most unique diving experience with their very experienced and professional dive master Alessandra. I have done 25 dives. Sunset dives were most amazing!! Their team provide outstanding services (food was good, housekeeping services good, and excellent laundry services). We arrived Sorong airport found out 1 missing luggage. Max and his team helped us followed up and sorted things out at airport/Customs. And in a couple of days, found it and delivered it back to us. We have also learned about their very meaningful ReShark project.

Most AMAZING dive holiday that we've had! FANTABULOUS! Many thanks to Max Ammer and his Papuan team at Sorido Bay Resort, Raja Ampat, a quintessential paradise with tranquil blue waters and rarely a boat in sight. With an abundance of marine life and diversity, diving at Raja Ampat was pure delight and each dive sight, unique and different.||||I simply loved the accommodation, good size, fresh, simple with the most indigenous papuan art. The bamboo blinds and white muslin drapes were absolutely refreshing. All this with a breathtaking view of the ocean, chirping birds and sound of the waves! Couldn't ask for more :D ||||We loved diving with the Papuan dive guides, Arnol, Usal and Deo for enabling us to have an amazing experience, showing us great gems underwater and helping us with taking pictures (precious memories) Many thanks to the dive guides and the boat crew for ensuring our safety at all times. ||||DIVING was our main activity, we also snorkelled, tried kayaking, visited the aquarium and it was lovely learning about the ongoing re-shark conservation project. ||||Always hungry after a dive, there was hot and freshly cooked meals served with a smile, thanks to Lin and Iwan. Dining was very social and all sat at one big table and enjoyed listening to Max's narrations and his passion for his many projects ie; woodwork, boat building, school, re-shark etc.||||1. Laundry service was free which is very uncommon and a great service to have. ||2. The room has a well lit, spacious camera cum work platform with sink and running water hence very handy to wash masks, equipment etc. Great Idea! ||3. On arrival, Max accompanied us to our villa and when we were departing, he came over to say goodbye, bless him, that was very endearing! ||4. We were given the most heart warming farewell with papuan music and dancing, and even celebrated Revoldi's birthday, nice lad, always smiling. ||5. Not to forgot the sweet bao buns, yummylicious!!||||We hope to return to this paradise again...

Back to Paradise: Diving Raja Ampat's Sorido Bay Resort My wife and I spent 18 days at Sorido Bay Resort in Raja Ampat this past January (2025), our fourth trip there. We think it's the best dive resort in the area. It's a small place with just seven comfortable, air-conditioned bungalows right on the white sand beach, just steps from the water. Each bungalow has a great setup for photographers – a dedicated "camera room" with a big table, sink, and outlets. They even have a "camera taxi" (a wheelbarrow) to help get your gear to the jetty. Super convenient! The staff is fantastic and gave us amazing personalized service. We also really appreciated having our own dive guide (one guide per bungalow). This meant just the two of us, or even just me when my wife wasn't diving, got all the attention. The diving was incredible this year. We saw tons of manta rays! The oceanic mantas were back at Blue Magic, which was awesome. And we saw lots of reef mantas at Manta Ridge and Manta Sandy too. Sorido Bay feels like our home away from home now, and we're already planning our next trip back! Sorido Bay is absolutely amazing. The staff are world-class, and they leave no wish unfulfilled. I can highly recommend it. The rooms are very spacious and offer excellent comfort. Additionally, it’s a fantastic place for diving, and the service there is world-class as well.

My daughter and i had the best experience from staff engagement to the food all very good, the facilities and the care for the environment are top notch. Ali the dive master went out of her way to make us feel comfortable.Max provided great incite to his vision and great stories. Yap the manager always trying to do the best by the guests.

If I could give Sorido 1000 stars I would! This place is absolutely amazing. The dive manager Alessandra is so organized and made sure everyone was taken care of on a daily basis. Deo was my guide for the week and he made me feel so comfortable on every dive (even during the blackwater dive which I am not sure I would have had the guts to do without him, but was totally worth it!). All dives and excursions went flawlessly - our gear was ready to go on the boat every morning making it so easy to have a nice breakfast and then head right out. Diving in Raja Ampat is like nothing I have ever experienced before. The reefs (including the house reef) are so beautiful and healthy for as far as you can see. I am not sure I will be able to dive anywhere else ever again. Seeing the baby blacktip sharks swim by our bungalow as I rested before dinner is something I will never forget. The team is also great at making sure snorklers have an unforgettable time. My partner is not a diver but our trips always headed out to the same location so our surface intervals could be spent together. My partner was a bit nervous to get in the water at first but the team made him feel so comfortable that he couldn't wait to get out there every day. The bungalows are so clean, comfortable and beautiful, the food is delicious, and the whole team in the kitchen/dining area is also fantastic. The communal dining really added to the experience as well. It was so fun to hang out and talk to everyone about what they did/saw that day. I really can't recommend this resort enough! We can't wait for when we are able to come again :)
