Everything is perfect. The room is beautiful, the furniture is modern. The room is very well decorated. I can see the aurora at the hotel in a dazzle.

Considering that is a luxury resort, the expectations were high. Rooms and structure is amazing, but: Spa treatments were not available, one of the restaurant was closed and the offer of the other was limited (only 4 main courses). So, I definitely recommend, but they must improve service even during low season (summer).

This place was more on the pricy side so i did have quite high expectations, and it was both a let down and had some memorable moments. If someone asked me to quickly sum up the entire experience and give them some insights, id tell them to never come here in summer, go on the husky farm visit and lastly, dont go here if you dont like fish. THE PLACE! 8/10 This location in Alta was gorgeous, that's the truth, we loved having the view of the river every morning, we loved getting to ride bikes here, and most of all playing card with eachother in the lounge with the gorgeous view. Only thing that wasn't optimal when it came to the location was how little things there were to do around here, sure it was gorgeous but the closest city was over 30-40 minutes away etc, not a deal breaker, maybe even better for some people! But i did feel like there wasnt TOO much too do. FOOD! 3/10 The breakfast was nice. Thats about the only compliment i can give, as the food was unfortunatly not up to standards. First of all since we were there in the summer, one of the "resturants" were closed which was very unfortunate as the other resturant had around 4-5 main courses ( it was a while ago since i was there, about 2 months so i dont completly remember ) But these 5 dishes were mainly fish, fish, and more fish which was very hard for me as i can't eat fish. There were 2 other options aswell but it just wasn't optimal to eat reindeer heart everyday for 4 days. We did ask the staff if we could have a simple salad that wasn't on the menu for the next day which we actually got, which i am still very grateful for. Im just disapointed the salad was of such poor quality, especially when we notified them in such good notice. Im getting caught up in silly little details, if you DO end up coming to sorrisniva, try the croissants in the breakfast, theyre suprisingly good. Service! 5/10 Troughout this trip there was one woman who just seemed to have a very unpleasant time with both us as guests and working there. I dont like making assumptions but she did have a pretty rude attitude towards us, which we obviously wasn't very fond of. On top of this, there was some other staff that felt quite judgy towards us, but maybe that was just our fault for playing cards in the lounge haha. Service DID bring us things if we needed them, they spent quite a while finding some sort of way for us to cool the rooms as it was boiling, but thats fair as they probably werent expecting it to get that hot. Room 7/10 Gorgeous rooms, our friends had the bigger room which had a minibar, and ours didnt. Wasn't a dealbreaker or anything but i do wish we could have some sort of other way to get food as when the resturants weren't open there werent anything for us to eat. Other than that little inconvenience the room was perfect, gorgeous bathroom, shower that could probably fit over 3 people. Lovely bed, coffee machine and nice curtains. There was 3 remotes in the room if i remember correctly, but unfortunatly 2 of them didnt work, it wasnt a big deal though since we didnt even know what it was for. Activites 7/10 Awesome tour guide, he really changed our view of the trip, also a beautiful husky farm visit and atv tour. Overall 4.5/10 I wish i could give it more, i just felt so defeated after the trip since food is really important to me, so is hospitality, and i didnt feel welcome. I like to feel like im wanted, to feel like im not trespassing by walking in a lounge, but that somewhat the feelings i could get here. Maybe its my fault, but maybe there's a tiny bit of effort that could be made aswell by this hotel to make me not feel those feelings. I wish all the best for the future of Sorrisniva.

Unforgettable experience in January 2025. We have fallen in love with Norway and its people! This beautiful lodge is located about 20 minutes out of Alta in a serene location by the river. The lodge is perfectly designed to provide a once in a life time vacation. We were treated to the story of the lodge told to us by Tor, who is one of the owners, as we admired all of the pictures and artifacts in the hallways. The Northern Lights were best displayed right outside the lodge and all of the experiences offered were spectacular. However, it is the staff that remain in our hearts, they made the trip so special. Everyone, including the young lady in the gift shop that told us about her Sami culture, was exceptional. We recommend this lodge to everyone. They even have wool slippers to wear in the lodge while you sit by the fire!! Loved every minute!

I went to do a walkthrough of the Igloo Hotel there onsite. And I must say it was quite impressive! While my visit was in March after it had been open for awhile it was still in good shape. You could tell in certain areas, the ice and snow was no longer as fresh as when the structure was built, but that didn’t really take away from the beauty! The sculptures were nicely done, and the rooms were impressively staged. The blue drink served at the ice bar while small was quite tasty! I was glad I made the trek out to visit such an interesting attraction. If you visit Alta, Norway in the winter be sure to check out this hotel.

How do I get back to this hotel, NOW! I dream about it constantly. I went with my husband and mother for my birthday and it was such a luxurious and relaxing experience. The rooms, dining and lobby feels like a 5 Star experience but the hallways and amenities feels like summer camp (in the best way!). It is the perfect melding of Arctic circle charm and luxury. The staff, just wow. They are all so friendly and make you feel so pampered. I hope to bring the rest of my family back one day. The cherry on top was the quality of the tours offered by the resort and the most spectacular northern light show!

We stayed 4 nights at this lovely hotel in a river view room looking out onto the Alta river. The scenery is stunning including the majestic views of the Northern Lights on several occasions. We greatly enjoyed all the activities we booked: fjord fishing, dog sledding, Sami cultural experience with reindeer and King Crab fishing. Everyone very safety minded and ensured we were dressed well for the cold. We enjoyed the meals in both restaurants. While the hotel feels a bit “corporate”, we greatly enjoyed our stay there to experience winter activities above the Arctic Circle. An added unexpected plus was the Finnmarkt dog sled race going right by our hotel room!

After a long stay elsewhere in Norway’s arctic north, we ended our trip with a one-night stay at Sorrisniva’s Igloo Hotel. The welcome we received at check-in was exemplary. We were given a tour of the lodge’s facilities and an explanation of the practicalities of staying in a hotel made of ice. After viewing the Igloo Hotel, we were offered our pick of the themed suites. Finally, a dinner slot was found for us at the fine-dining restaurant Maku.||The lodge was a bustling place during our stay, which detracted a little from any sense of being in the wilderness. There was a cruise ship in port in Alta, so boat people may have added to the numbers at the hotel. Of course, you need only step out the door to escape the hubbub of the hotel. We enjoyed some stunning walks by (and on) the frozen Alta River (remembering to stick to the marked route!). ||The food and overall dining experience at the lodge was rather average. Breakfast was a low point – it was not bad, just solidly mediocre in terms of the quality and selection of the food. The tasting menu at Maku was better, although the food may as well have arrived on a conveyor belt. Receiving an explanation of the thought-process behind each dish, and a description of the ingredients, can add so much to a fine-dining experience. Little of that was offered at Maku.||Our suite at the Igloo Hotel was fabulous. Beautifully and whimsically sculptured, our rooms were a good size and very quiet. After a good night’s sleep, it was wonderful to wake up to a glimmer of daylight through the icy roof.

Yelp
truely amazing!!! we are from sacramento, ca and took a cruise to norway and the arctic circle. one of the featured excursions was a night's stay in a hotel made of ice. whereas there is a fantastic main lodge that was wonderful, annually they contruct a separate wing of ice accommodations that are surrounded by outstanding works of art, made of ice. the bed is a block of ice , but covered with reindeer hide for insulation and comfort, then covered with a sub-zero sleeping bag. breakfast and dinner included, and a welcome bar in the ice hotel... no need for 'on the rocks', as the glasses are made of ice

Yelp
This was the experience of a lifetime! Snowmobiling was so much fun and they provided all of the cold weather gear you needed to keep warm and comfortable. The Northern Lights van tour was the highlight of the trip. We had the same guide for this trip as we did snowmobiling and he was so knowledgeable and friendly! He knew the perfect spot to take us to have an unbelievable viewing experience. The same guide was also our driver for our transfers to and from the Alta city center. The transfers were timely and there was nothing to arrange or worry about! He even gave us a fantastic recommendation for our fiber in Alta when we were not at #Sorrisniva. We were nervous about how comfortable we would be sleeping in the igloo but there was no need to be! The sleeping bags are incredibly warm. I slept with thin fleece pants, 2 thin layers of shirts and a pair of fleece socks and I was sweating. The restaurant was amazing for dinner and breakfast. The service was fantastic and the food was unbelievable. I can't truly do our experience justice in this review, you have to go there and experience it for yourself!
