The Dunes are just spectacular. The main dune (Big Daddy) is of course the one most referenced standing at about 325m high however I hadn't appreciated how many other dunes there are, many of which (if you have the time and energy) you could climb too. The arm of Big Daddy is fun, its not as high or steep to climb as the full dune but it provides spectacular views and great photo opportunities.
The drive to the dunes is great. We arrived at the national park shortly after sunrise and there was a bit of a wait to be able to enter. Ensure once you are in you stop and buy your permit. You will have to show that as you leave. As we drove to the dunes and Sossusvlei we saw lots of animals heading toward the shade of the trees in the riverbed - Jackles, Springbocks, Ostriches.
There are toilets (wooden structure in my pic) are by the car park but they are really just holes in the floor. Still you are in the middle of the desert!
