We visited without buying tickets in advance but we arrived mid-morning and could go in straightaway. It wasn't busy at all.
Because of the amount of rainfall in the days prior to our visit, there was a lot of water in the gorge, making the rapids very spectacular. It's fun that they give you a hardhat the beginning, you scan your ticket and you're basically on your own.
The views are gorgeous and it is an easy hike through the gorge itself. The way back, we would have liked to take the slightly longer but easier walk back but that was closed due to construction. Instead, we had to take the way up the mountain. It would have been nice to be informed of this as I was traveling with someone who struggles with hiking
