Meet the Makers Combining Marrakech’s Artisanal Past with Modern Design

"My midcentury-modern-style kitchen chairs came from a no-name stall on a dusky little square near the now rather chic Souk Cherifia."

An assault on your sences is the only way to describe the souk. So much to see and do and the colours are magical. Great fun trying to navigate the winding streets, but try not to take directions from one of the many local lads who seem to get a bit annoyed when you dont require the service and expect payment for nothing.

Better to do your shopping here. Most will ask you where you're from then determine the price, always haggle. You'll always pay twice as much as locals but never accept the first offer.

We regret that it wasn't the gastronomic experience we expected from reading other reviews. The service was excellent. The Moroccan salad too but the chicken in both dishes was dry, very overcooked. The decor was charming if a bit too eclectic for our tastes though the proportions of the rooms were impressive.

Great place to escape from the rest of the busy market, much more peaceful, and there is a lovely cafe in the middle where you can sit and rest from all the hustle and bustle

Small souk with an interesting selection of shops, jewels on the second floor is lovely but v expensive. I ended up buying a throw from the second floor home store. You can haggle here if you want, prices are similar to elsewhere you have to know your max and stick with it. The basket shop next to the patisserie has very cute basket bags covered in pom-poms which I didn't see anywhere else and you can get anything sewn in - your name etc. I just didn't have space in my luggage for anything else!

The local products are very colourful and very beautiful. The prices are e little bit higher than the markets outside the remparts but the experience is full magnifiscence
